Q: Yoga 910 wifi issue

I'm having very inconsistent wifi performance on my Yoga 910. This has the Qualcomm Aetheros network adapter. I already installed the latest drivers from lenovo site. I also adjusted the power settings for maximum performance on both plugged in and battery. I have full signal... I'm maybe 15 feet away from my router. My phone is getting nearly 100Mb/s and my expensive new laptop is struggling to hit 2Mb/s right now. I've searched and tried any and all fixes. It seems that a restart will usually get the speed back up, but only temporarily. I check resources and don't see any process or service using the wifi, yet the speed tanks like crazy. As an example, I was barely able to hit 2Mb, restarted and now its hitting 150Mb every time. After about 5 minutes, speeds are back down to 2-5Mb tops. What's going on here? -- Ed

I'm experiencing WLAN performance issues as well. See the issues section in my review of the 910.

Are you also seeing WHEA-logger errors being reported in the Event Viewer? Does it help if you connect using the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5GHz band?

There's clearly something wrong, but whether it's really the hardware or the driver software is difficult to tell at this point. I've put a service call into Lenovo. I'll see what that brings.

I recently purchased a P40 Yoga and am happy with it, however I have problem with my Wifi + Bluetooth which I have not had before. I have always used Bluetooth and Wifi together with no problems. THE PROBLEM:When I turn on my Bluetooth, Wifi disconnects immediately. No networks are found anymore.  I have been using the same Wifi connection, so no changes there. I assume this is not an interference problem, because it has always worked great, so it must be a software problem. I also noticed that I have quite a weak connection although I'm close by the router What I have done:- Uninstalled Bluetooth and let windows reinstall- Reinstalled driver for Wifi- Install lastest driver for Wifi from Intel (19.20)- Checked router (channels [due to interference], proximity, etc.) What else could I do?

I just bought a new Lenovo YOGA 500 Intel® HD Core? i5 Processor, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb Storage, 15.6 inch Full HD Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop. I'm yet to take it out of the packaging (thank heavens) before I noticed on the website I bought it from under Features of the Laptop it states:  Wifi Enabled: NDoes this mean there's no WiFi capabilities on the laptop? Secondly, after perusing this forum, I've discovered the laptop seems to have a WiFi issue, the question thus is would any of you with the same laptop advise I keep it? Thanks

I looked around and didn't see any other posts exactly describing this issue, so sorry if others have already brought this up. I have a 720 13" that's acting very odd.  It'll sometimes go partially (showing only a 1/2 inch at the top of the screen) or completely black.  This happens mostly at the office.  When I walk it out of the office (and out of range of WiFi), it flickers a bit and starts displaying correctly.  I can turn airplane mode on, head back in the office, and it's fine.  As soon as it connects to the company WiFi again, it'll crap out on the display within a few minutes. When it's blacked out, I can still see the mouse if I move it up there, but can't see anything but streaks of dark grey distortion on the rest of the black screen.  Sometimes, the black area while very slowly drop down (1 pixel row at a time).  Other times, it stays that way indefinitely.  I've tried reinstalling the display, chipset, and power management drivers.  It happens at home and on cell phone tethering, but not nearly as often. Super odd issue.  It's 5 months old and still under warranty.  Anyone else having this issue?

I have a problem with my Yoga 700 where I have to constaltly disconnect/reconnect to my wifi network--typically when I am using multiple tabs or browsing while streaming. Hello All, After the last Win 10 Anniversary update, my wifi speed is terrible. I am using  100 mbit connection i did have any problems before the update. After it the speed drops to 3 mbit . I currently have a Qualcom Wireless AC Card in my Yoga 920. When I change wifi networks, I don't always get the internet going right away (we have 2 networks at home and several different networks in the office). I would need to right click on the wifi icon in the task bar and click on troubleshoot, then wait for it to fix itself. This happens probably 90% of the time when I change networks (ie Home network, then when at the office, I connect to the Work network and have to perform the troubleshoot to get the internet going then vice versa when back home. Or even changing between our 2 different Home networks - as in from different ISPs and not just changing between 2.4 and 5ghz connection). Also, is there something wrong with Chrome for the 920? When I change networks, and get the internet going (as in the wifi icon property says that there is internet and the yellow triangle exclamation is not present anymore), google chrome does not automatically connect to the internet and load pages. Edge, on the other hand, does not have issues upon gaining internet connection after the troubleshoot. For reference, I have a custom built desktop. I have an Intel AC 8265 in it, and it does not have this issue when switching between our home networks and chrome does not any issue as well. So yeah, I have two issues. Any ideas?

Hello, I've had my new yoga L380 for two days and am noticing that when it charges with supplied 65w USB C charger, both the power adapter brick and the laptop get very hot. The adapter itself gets almost too hot to hold in the hand. The laptop (i5) highest temp I have seen while charging was 85C, even though CPU load was only ~30%. Once it stops charging it cools down.I also had an issue during charging that the wifi connection dropped and I could not re-connnect to any other network, so it appeared that the heat was affecting the wifi module somehow. Troubleshooting gave no possible software issues and other devices were connected to the same wifi network.Is this normal? What kind of temps should I be expecting?I would be ok with slower charging if this prevents the issue but if something is wrong with my battery or charger I need to know.Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,  I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. During this time, any time I open the notebook and connect to wifi all other devices in the house won't get internet. From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

My brand new Yoga 720 is seriously bent (one corner is up by 3 mms). I have sent back immediately to offical Lenovo service. They sent it back with a report that it is fully operable. Since then, I have a wedge in my notebook case and all I have to do is put it under my notebook if I use it. Now I know which brand not to buy next time.

When i was using windows 8 the wifi was good and would never get disrupted.But i updated to windows 8.1 and now when am downloading something the wifi gets disconnected and wont show the network even if the router is on and my phone is still connected to it.I have to toggle the wifi on and off for some 6-7 times and then toggle airplane mode on and off for 3-4 times to get it to discover the network.Is this because of the adapter or driver and my laptop has a ralink wifi adapter.What should i do?Thanks

I upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.

HP is now help as they clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. (Guys, never buy HP again please...). And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.

The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything.They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...

So can anyone either provide a solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?

I had a similar issue were I was stuck in Aeroplane mode on a cleanly installed W10. Turned out I had to uninstall it from the HID's in Device manager. It's worth checking that he's not stuck in it too. Search for drivers in Windows 7, from the HP website and you'll most likely resolve the issue.

I have issues connecting my Laptop to the Wifi router in my house, however, there are no issues connecting to other routers? You would therefore assume that the issue lies with the router at my house. However, every other device and laptop connects to the router at my house with no issues at all. So it seems to be specific to the combination of my laptop and the router at my house. I have been having these issues ever since I downloaded Windows 10. I fixed it initially by downloading an old driver for the Wifi on my laptop. This fix lasted for about 3 months but since the latest windows update, the issue has come back. The issue is intermittent wifi where it shows I am connected to the Wifi but then the internet doesn't work. It says "DNS probe cannot be found" when running troubleshooter and then it resets the wifi on my laptop. This can temporalily fix it, sometimes for 2 seconds. Sometimes for 2 hours. But then the issue comes back. Does anyone have any clue what the issue might be or how I might fix it? Sometimes, when I run the troubleshooter, it says that I have missing protocols. But then this doesn't happen every time. I have tried a variety of fixes that I have read up on in forums but none seem to work permantly. One thing I haven't tried is a clean install of windows 10 which is something I am very reluctant to do and also, have my doubts as to whether it would actually resolve the issue.

It all depends on location, location, location. Some Gateways are just garbage. If you are not getting a strong enough signal, get an Access Point. Also you need to make sure that you are not on a congested channel, which is usually Channels 6 & 11 for 2.4 Ghz units.

I just bought a Yoga 720, 13.3 inch from Amazon (USA) - i5, 256 gb SSD, 8 gb RAM.  Its a nice laptop but upon turning it on, the fan noise scared me completely. To add more to the woes, screen couldnt display white color properly. It would show an off white color/yellowish tint - I thought this is a defective one until i read it online that many are facing this issue. I diligently worked with Lenovo Customer Care ( slow and awful) and solved both of these issues in one click !  High Fan Noise: This problem is due to a default BIOS setting that Lenovo ships you with originally when you purchased the product ( go figure why !) Turn Laptop offLeft to the headphone jack is a small pin hole.Press the pin hole and it will show you 4 options. Click BIOSUnder the BIOS - select BIOS thermal temperature mode to " Quiet" Press F10 (save and exit)This will keep fan quiet and smooth ! It worked right away. When ever i open my laptop. On the task bar the date and time is pushed off the screen.I think their maybe a issue with the graphics driver and windows 10. If i click on the up arrow on the task back it will snap back to where it is supposed to be. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar issue with their yoga 12.Please also let me know if anyone knows how to fix. All of my drivers are the latest windows 10 versions. its not a huge issue, but it is extreemly annoying.

Hey, So I bought the new 700 yoga with the core i7 this past week. I had some issues with the wifi and have been scouring the internet and can not find a fix for the incredibly slow wifi. My internet is fios with 40 up and down and can get that speed on my lenovo thinkpad, y series laptop, and cell phone. But this the only laptop that has windows 10 installed and when i run either speedtest.net or the internet health test this laptop will not get anything close to that. I have installed all the windows update and disabled the peer to peer update and every information sharing option in the settings. The speeds i can get in the first minute of turning on the laptop is 8 down and 20ish up. After one or two minutes the down and upload speeds drop to 0.1mbps down and up and it will time out the internet constantly. Anyone else having issues like this? I called the tech support line and since I am getting some wifi connection the support service said it is not a hardware issue and is a software issue but for the support i would have to pay to on a laptop i had less than a week.Any help would be great.

Does anyone have issues with wifi speed on yoga 720?I have 100 mbps download, everyone laptop in the house gets 80 mbps plus over wifi while on yoga I get maximum 35-40mbps.I updated any available drivers, updated the bios, changed power plan adapter to be on maximum performance and nothing made a difference. any suggestions? thanks.

Hi I'm experiencing troubles with the WiFi on my new Yoga 500-15IBD laptop. I tried to find a solution throughout this forum (and the rest of the internet....), but so far I couldn't find anything that directly relates to my problem (or solves it). The problem is as follows:Basically the WiFi is quite unstable. Every once in a while it just looses the connection, despite being directly next to the router. It then says "limited connection" and the only way to make it work again is to either reboot, or click "troubleshooting" on the WiFi symbol, which then basically resets the adapter. I already tried to solve the issue by applying all Windows 10 updates, and by trying to install a new driver (this worked previously for my ThinkPad Yoga 2, which had similar problems at the beginning). So far, no success. The curious thing about the driver is, that when I go to the lenovo support page and let the website determine what kind of laptop I have, to automatically show me all available drivers, it shows me drivers for a WiFi adapter that I don't have... It successfully determines that my Yoga 500 is a 15IBD, but the drivers that it shows me for download are either for an Intel WLan adapter, or for a CyberTan/Liteon. But I have a Broadcom 802.11ac device installed. Why is that? Shouldn't lenovo know what they built in? I also tried to disallow Windows from shutting down the WiFi adapter to save power, but this didn't work either. In addition, I also tried ... Read more

Apparently, the LiteOn driver is intended for Broadcom WLAN hardware. It's now been renamed to Broadcom to make it clearer to everybody. Try installing that driver and let us know how you get on.

On a brand new Yoga 3 PRO 1370 -  I am getting very low WIFI signal on all my routers. Compared side by side : Think pad yoga and yoga 3 pro - the first one have full bars on signal , the 3 pro have only 1-2 bars and disconnect all the time.  Only when the laptop is very close to the router -  getting full signal bars. Already removed and update the drivers twice . tried all configurations and power options - still very very low signal reception. Any ides ?

1. Windows Operating System 32bit or 64bit system
2. Router information : Brand and Model, does it support wireless B, G & N
3. Check if your bluetooth is turned on.

My yoga will connect to my wifi network only once. I then need to reboot my wifi router. No other devices in the house have this problem and the network is always still active. I get two messages and not sure why I get one and not the other. The messages basically say either network not available (but it is) or that something has changes and it asks for the network password but then wont connect either. My network adapter is Realtek RTL8723AU. I have made sure all drivers are up to date, tried changing power saving options so they dont turn off adapter.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Hi,I bought a Yoga 500 approx 9 months ago. After two months the wifi suddenly ceased working completely - I received the error message "Not connected - no connections available". I tried basic troubleshooting, but in the end I was forced to leave it in for service.  I got it back after a few weeks, and it has subsequently worked fine - until 2 weeks ago, when I received the same error message. I am not able to connect to the internet through wifi at all, and  have tried basic troubleshooting. Anyone expereinced this problem? I have to reboot the modem (TP LINK Archer D7) which usually lasts another 2-15mins before drops out again. I've tried updating laptop drivers and modem firmware but no luck. Hi, As many other Yoga 920 users have experienced I too had issues with slow and unreliable WIFI. After doing research online and trying out all possible software tweaks to the yoga?s wifi card I decided the only solution was to replace it. Searching online and in these forums shows that I am not alone having this issue so I decided to write down a guide on how to replace the wifi card. The process is dead simpler, but you'll need a T5 torx and Phillip?s screwdriver for this. Step 1 is to purchase the new card. I opted for the newer intel 9260, but the older 8260 and 8265 should also work fine. I live in the UK and purchased it off Ebay. I am not affiliated with this seller but I found it to be a good price and I received it in the mail after 2 days. I am sure you can find this card readily available world wide by now. Step 2: before installing the new wifi card you need to download the drivers for your new card. The intel 9260 drivers can be found here.I also recommend you to download the drivers for your exisiting card incase the new card is faulty or for whatever reason don't work. You'll find those here. Step 3: when the drivers are download I recommend to uninstall your current wifi card driver. Head to Device Manager-> right click on your wireless network card and select uninstall device. Step 4: when that's done power off your computer and disconnect the charger. Hello, I recently bought a yoga 910-13ikb, and since day 1 I cannot get wifi connection, the troubleshooter shows that wifi doesnt have a valid ip configuration, so there's no internet.  i've tried with netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, ipconfig /release , ipconfig /renew., also turning the antivirus and firewall off, I downloaded the latest update fron lenovo's page, and none of them make the wifi work.  other laptops and phones work well in the same wlan. can anyone help me with a solution for this problem?. thank you.

MY yoga 900 arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to connect to WFI for more then few minutes before experiencing heavy drop outs. Not only that, but it is  interfering with all other devices connected to the same wifi and I loose signal on all devices(MY phone and my wife laptop). The only way to get back the connection on those devices is to power down  the yoga completely. It is the first time I experience this kind of interference. I suspected the problem was a compatibility issue between my router and the yoga. So I took the yoga to the office today and the same things happened!?!! All devices in the office lost the WIFI  unless I turn off the machine.... Any help? Thanks!

K, I found that if i go to intel WIFI adapter settings and I choose 802.11 b things works well except I get slow connection. However I just noticed a new problem: the touchpad is freezing for few secs from time to time and I can't move the pointer.

I am using a lenovo yoga 14. When I connect to my wifi network at home the internet often randomly turns off. It doesn't only disconnect my laptop, it kicks all of the other devices off the network as well. I have no viruses and the laptop seemed to be doing this from when I originally got it. I updated my drivers for the wifi and have tried various other fixes but nothing seems to work. Really often my new Yoga drops the wifi signal and then i have to turn off wifi, run diagnostics or restart to gain wifi signal with internet connection again.On my old work laptop connected to the same wifi, I never have this problem.Any idea what could be the cause for this?

The WIFI speed on my laptop is so slow.  Other devices connected to same WIFI are at 100mbps. The speedtest (speedtest.com) that i just performed gave a reading of 5.53 Mbps download speed and 0.14 upload speed.  I work from home and I'm about to lose my mind.  I can't get anything done because my internet based apps are hanging.   I read on another forum about the Yoga 920 doing this.  Some of the solutions were to download a driver for the 910.  I wasn't sure if this would solve my issue since I have the 910.  I also couldn't figure out where to go to find out which driver I have installed.  I loved my Yoga when I first bought it.  Now that I've been searching this forum for answers to my issue I'm seeing that a lot of other people are having issues with theirs.  Making me lose confidence in this product.

I have a Yoga 2 Pro Ultrabook.  The computer was on but the Wifi was not on.  I was shutting down when the message came up that "Updates are Loading - don't turn off your computer" and supposedly loaded 1 of the updates.  Then after a while when the computer realized it wasn't connected to Wifi and couldn't load the balance of updates, I received this message on the screen "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer".  I waited hours and nothing - the screen is frozen with this message and I can't do anything with the computer now?   What should I do?

I've been using this Yoga 510-14ISK for almost two years now, and I recently realised that the WiFi speed changes drastically between battery power and plugged in charger. Sitting in the same spot, I can get the full speed of my home WiFi if I plug in the charger, but I can get only 1-2 mbps if I use battery power.Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

I have a:Yoga 2 Pro (i7)Intel Wireless-N 7260Linksys E4200 Dual-band router I have no problems connecting at home, however, I cannot connect (at all) at the car dealrship I have my vehicle serviced at (iPad and cellphone connect just fine).I can connect at my office , however, it constantly drops and reconnects. It would be completely unreliable to take on the road.

Ok, so I see that the earlier Yoga had problems with Wifi, and I'm wondering if this is the same problem I have with my Yoga 2 Pro. If the wifi signal is at all weak, it just seems to drop out. This is a huge headache and might be grounds for returning the machine, which I have already fallen deeply in love with. Is there a fix? Is this just me or is this an issue across the board?

Let me start by saying I've tried everything that everyone has recommended to fix this issue. I can hardly ever connect to my router, when it does it says no internet connection. It will only connect when I'm right next to the router, and even then the speeds are miniscule, 2-5 Mbps when I get over 200 Mbps with my Galaxy S7 in the same place. The issue occurs on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It also occurs on other WiFi networks and while using my phone's mobile hotspot. Drivers are up to date.Wifi card is set to not turn off in Device Manager.Network card is set to max performance in Power settings.I have tried a factory reset of Windows 10.I have tried changing the channel on my router's 2.4 GHz band.I have checked the wifi card itself, as well as the antennas by a shop. They said the antennas look fine and are connected.I have uninstalled literally all bloatware that was on the device from factory.I have tried everything except replacing the WiFi card itself. The wifi card is Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA34AC. I'm not sure when it started but it has been happening for a while, I don't use my laptop that frequently. It could have happened after upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1. In the mean time I have been using an ASUS Wifi USB adapter that works flawlessly, gets 100+ Mbps from the other side of my apartment from the router.

Longshot you may have already tried: set the wifi card's channel width to 20MHz, or if it's already set that way try "auto" or the other possibilities.
 
I've seen the "connected but no internet" problem and worked around it this way.  Unlikely if it was working previously but easy to try.

Hi All, The wireless adapter has disappeared!It was working well for 6 months and Saturday it stopped connecting.It reconnected Sunday briefly, but this morning  will not connect again .If I go into 'Change adapter settings' in windows there is no wireless adapter, only bluetooth.I have used device manager to search for the device, reinstalled the wireless drivers, gone into BIOS and disabled and re-enabled the Wireless there, but the device just will not appear. Any ideas, or is it time to return it under warrenty. Shame as it has worked flawlessly for 4 months
