I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have bought Adobe CS3 Design Premium. I wish to install it and eventually replace a hodgepodge of Adobe programs currently installed: Dreamweaver 8, along with Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS1, and Adobe Acrobat 6 Standard CS1.

What uninstall and install sequence would be advised?
(1) Install over existing programs without uninstalling (to keep configuration data)? , or
(2) Uninstall some or all existing, then do clean install?

I am experiencing difficulties when trying to uninstall/reinstall my adobe product. At the beginning of the month, I had some issues with the activation which caused the program to lock me out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program thinking that may help it, but alas nothing changed. Had to call adobe to deactivate my serial.

Long story short, the adobe help center rectified the problem with my serial. Supposedly anyway. I have no way to test it because my current installation of photoshop is corrupt due to this licensing mishap. The only way is to start fresh and install the program again.

This is where the hitch is. As I previously mentioned, I was able to reinstall the program once without issue. Now, I can't even run the installer from the DVD. A window stating "Setup is initializing" appears, then quickly disappears. Nothing happens afterwards. Also, I am unable to remove the program from windows. The entry is there in "Programs and Features," however selecting the option to uninstall it does absolutely nothing. No window appears or anything.

The problem seems to only be with the adobe installer. I can remove my other applications and install new ones just fine. It's just for some reason Windows refuses to run the Adobe setup now. It doesn't make sense. The disc is not scratched at all and has never been stored outside its case. I'm at a complete loss what to do next. I can't remove it and I can't reinstall it.

Hi, I'm having trouble uninstalling my Adobe Reader 7.0
When I go into control panel and go to unistall it, this message comes up.
"The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I have also tried going into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Setup Files\RdrBig\ENU_\setup.exe.
But the last piece isn't there, so it can only go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Setup Files\RdrBig\ENU_
So I have absolutely no idea what to do, I just want to get the newest version so that I can get my d-link to work for our wireless.
Please if someone could help that would be awesome!
I've tried searching the web a bit and using programs that say they will help you. Though once I want them to do something, I have to pay, so I'm looking for a free, easy way to do this.
Hope you can help, thank you!

I tried uninstalling it from Ccleaner and Add/Remove Programs, because that didn't work I deleted EVERY folder with the name Adobe in it thinking it would perhaps remove it from the Add/Remove program list, but alas no such luck. installing the new adobe reader 9 does not work either because it says the older version cannot be uninstalled, I even went into the registry and deleted all the files named Adobe under H-k-localmachine etc. I could find lol, ugh next time i see an adobe employee i'm going to give them a piece of my mind!

Hi. . .

I am not sure that this will work given the registry changes and file deletions made - but it is worth a try nonetheless.

Bring up a command ("DOS") prompt -

MsiExec.exe /I{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A81000000003}

Everytime I try to remove it it says, "Error 1402. Could not open key; (insert long string of characters here). Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.

I went to RegEdit and searched in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\CLSID.

There was no CLSID. Is there any way to get that certain key back or a way to reinstall Adobe Reader 7? That way maybe I can uninstall it after everything is back again? Or just a way to get CLSID back? Anyone?

A:[SOLVED] Cannot uninstall Adobe Reader 7

There are two ways you can do this. I'll start with the simplest. That is to use the Windows Installer Clean Up utility. If you have this already it will be in your Program Files directory on your main drive. If it's not there, you can download it from here. If you've already got or after you've downloaded and installed it, in the WICU directory you will find a file called msicuu.exe. Run this file and it will open a drop-down box of installed programs. Acrobat should be at the top. Selct it and click remove. If that doesn't work, you will have to use the manual method described by Adobe here. This is a much more complicated way and involves editting the registry. Before you do make sure you make a backup of your registry, first by creating a System Restore point and second, by opening the registry by pressing Start>Run and typing regedit in the box and pressing OK. When the registry editor is open select File>export and save the registry, preferably to another hard disc or to a floppy disc. Good luck.

Greetings: This is my first visit here, and I have never used a similar forum, anywhere. I regret that I have waited until my dotage to learn about computers, but the fact is I have. I wish to uninstall Adobe reader 8.1.2.. Having gone through the add/remove programs with no luck. This is probably a simple problem but I certainly haven't had any luck. Would you please advise me how I might be able to accomplish this. Thank you.

I'm using Firefox, maybe that is part of my problem here:

I upgraded to Acrobat 8.1.2 on my XP Pro, but it won't work. I tried to uninstall it in Add or Remove Programs, it looks for a file that does not exist (an installer file) and won't uninstall. I tried to use Windows Clean-up. Selected 8.1.2 to remove, but it's still there.

I can't print any PDF files (and my printer is also on the fritz - see my other post) so I'm in a real pickle. I have to somehow get some documents off the web asap, and I can't do it!!!

I remember reading somewhere (after the fact) that you need to uninstall any older versions of Acrobat on your computer before installing 8.1.2., which, of course, I didn't.

I've heart mention of another pdf reader called Foxit, but I don't know anything about it.

If someone is knowledgable about pdf readers, please give me pros/cons about both, I use other Adobe products just fine, and this is the very first time I have every encountered a problem with Acrobat. For years, it ran just quiety and without error until I upgraded to 8.1.2.

Am I doomed to never use Adobe acrobat again because they've buggered up their newest versions? My preference is to fix my install and use the new Adobe, but if it's a goner, then I need to know about other alternatives (Foxit, whatever). I hate to go to something new and then have issues of compatability with it, too.

Please, ideas / suggestions?

I am relatively new to graphic design and imaging, but I have a question regarding my use of Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3.

I have designed a logo in Adobe Illustrator CS3, and saved it as both an ".AI" file and an ".EPS" file.

Now, when I open the ".EPS" file in Adobe Photoshop CS3, it appears that the bright cyan (it's a white logo with one of the characters in bright cyan) is duller than what it seemed to be in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

Does anyone know why this would be, and what I can do to stop it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Ok, let me try typing this all over again. Another, separate problem: this POS Vista laptop's wireless keeps arbitrarily disconnecting. 'Back to Cat 5 cable, dammit. Anyway...]

There's a persistent problem I've been unable to solve after roughly a year since it first appeared. When I check Secunia PSI's reports I'm finding old versions of Adobe Flash Player listed as "Insecure" and "Update scheduled" - which will not uninstall with Adobe's own uninstall tool.

I went through a closed thread here at Techguy.org on the subject and went through the procedure described - basically downloading and running the Adobe Flash Uninstaller found here:

After rebooting into Safe Mode and running the Flash uninstall tool (multiple times, just out of anal-retentive thoroughness,) I rebooted into standard mode. On opening Secunia PSI - but before running a scan - the list of insecure programs shows Adobe Flash Player 9.x, which hadn't even been there previously. After running the Flash Uninstaller again from standard mode, then running a new PSI scan, the 9.x version is no longer there but in its place is... 10.x (NPAPI), which when I click PSI's Scan Results detail page lists it as (NPAPI).

This occurs regardless of whether or not I've got the current version of Adobe Flash installed on top of it all.

Could this be some kind of malw... Read more

Hi. I'm new here and I hope I am doing this right. I have been having various "issues" for the last few days. I had trouble with Yahoo Email, had my sound device not found on some browsers, problems in Facebook. (Who doesn't?) Most of these have gotten sorted out, but I felt it might be important to note. Also I have had many attempted intrusions that have been blocked by my Norton.
My real problemis this... If I try to open any of my Adobe CS4 Creative Suite my computer restarts itself. I have tried Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash. I have tried using the uninstall and the first time it ran for over a half hour before it stopped and restarted the computer again. Now when I try to uninstall it barely runs a few minutes before it quits. I have run virus and malware scans and haven't found anything but the usual tracking cookies. I defragged and ran the check disc, but found nothing wrong. I am not very handy with this end of computers and I really need help here. I have a new version of the Creative Suite CS5.5 to install, but want to get this fixed first. Any help will be appreciated.

What's the big difference if any between shockwave player and flash player? I see both in the control panel.

However, one says I have flash player 10, but I have just now downloaded their newest version 10.1. And that's been the second time at least for the same update. ??

The other says I have shockwave player 11.5. Both are Adobe.

By the way, in the control panel and over on the right side, there's a column that lists how often used and also where you can delete a program. But with the new version, altho it's listed as loaded on the left side, the right is blank except for the word delete. In other words, no listing for size like all the other programs.

A:Uninstall Adobe Reader XI (11.0.6) won't uninstall/remove pop-up loop persists

Hello, and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
The error is occuring because the installer is looking for files in a temp folder that are no longer there.
Extra care is needed with this tool. Download Microsoft Installer Cleanup.  Run it in an admin account and only select Adobe Reader XI if it is in the list (If it is not in the list exit out) and then press the remove button making absolutely sure no other programs other than Adobe Reader is selected. Then I would try reinstalling Adobe Reader again.
I would recommend that you do not constantly uninstall and install the program.

A:[SOLVED] Adobe Flashplayer won't install

You should first know there's an Internet Explorer version and there's a Firefox version of Flash Player, and they're independent of each other.

Whichever browser you use, go here to test if your flash player is installed correctly.
When you get there, you may get a popup prompting you to install shockwave (ignore it and click 'don't install')
After a couple of moments, you should see the flash box that goes "create, see, about". Click on about. If it's installed properly it should say "Version 9,0,124,0 installed successfully"

If not, then install it manually. For the internet explorer version, go to this page
and scroll down to where it says "Download and unzip Install_Flash_Player_9_ActiveX.zip"
Click on download, extract, and run the installer.
For Firefox, just go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash using Firefox.
Once those installs, just check as mentioned above. If the videos still display those messages, either they're wrong, or they're the kind that talk you into installing malware. Don't download flash from any place other than the macromedia/adobe site.

I've spent a LOT of time looking up this answer, and no luck so far. I go to download flash player 11.3 from adobe, and it downloads fine. I open the download (does the same with admin privileges) and it tells me my security settings prevent the file from being downloaded.

To me this suggested my internet settings were screwed up, so I went to control panel and reset them, then set it to medium high security with option to download files set to enable. This did not work and it seems like the only solution Adobe and anyone else suggests. Right now my work around was installing flash add-ons for firefox through the firefox add-ons menu and I can watch youtube videos, and use flash apps. yes internet explorer still has no flash, and sometimes my computer will stop responding and then when I restart windows explorer, the flash player symbol shows up on an application tab with no title and no options when I right click it.

I get a message saying cannot locate verifiable source. Any help on this problem will be appreciated.

A:Solved: Adobe Flash Player install problem

try this. go to your add/remove programs and look for adobe flash player 9 active x 3.04 mb. if its listed u have it but its not working right. if not try this go to www.softwarepatch.com and look under software. look for adobe flash player 9 active x stand alone version. download and install it then check your add/remove programs again. it should then be listed and u should be good to go. if its listed in your add/remove programs now it might not say how many mbs. if thats the case just remove it and install the one i mentioned. hope this helps u.

I can't seem to install Adobe Flash Player or ActiveX.
I was able to download the .exe file using Firefox but couldn't do it when I was using Internet Explorer.
So I obviously isntalled Adobe but I don't think it's properly working. The next thing I would like to do is upgrade my computer because I have no service pack but I don't have ActiveX. I can't seem to find any site that uses it so that I get the prompt to download it.

Will ActiveX come with Adobe, or is ActiveX from Microsoft?
If no, then how can I download ActiveX and Adobe?

I am unable to install flash player. I have gone through all the troubleshooting provided on their site, uninstalled and re-installed flash, (it says flash player 9 installed, but when I go to a site which requires a flash player, I get the notice that adobe flash player is not installed). Win XP Home SP2, Pentium 4, 3 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM. For the hijackthis log, please see the following thread on which I had posted for another issue.

Many thanks.

Windows XP Home SP3 on a PC

My Adobe Flash Player wasn't working in IE7 or Firefox so I followed the instructions on this forum to remove it and re-install but all that I keep getting is the installer and not the Flash Player itself.
I also saw mentioned not to use the installer but I don't know how to avoid that.
Every link that I follow from this forum takes me to the installer.

Please show me where the Flash Player is to get just that.
Also - if I need to use the installer which one is the right one (I see 2 different ones.)

And - while I'm asking - do I also need the Adobe Shockwave and where do I get that?

Hi. For the past week I have run into problems viewing several websites that I/my kids frequent due to a notice that I need to install the new Adobe Flash Player. I bet I have installed it 8 or 10 times, it says it is successful, but when I try to access the website again, I get the same message. The version I seem to have on my system is the same version I have been attempting to download, but something apparently isn't getting registered. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? I feel crippled--one of the websites I can't get to is one I need for work...

Howdy folks,
Many programmes I go into say Adobe Flash Player is required.
I have spent many hours trying to install this required programme, but no matter which way I try, the following notice always comes up on my screen.

I have tried to install Adobe Flash Player with Windows Firewall disabled - I have set the control to ALLOW this programme on my Norton Antivirus software and I have also disabled my user account control, but the same notice always appears.

I am using the administrator account on my computer, and thought as such, I should be able to allow or disallow programmes...apparently not...Help!

Bearing in mind I am a senior citizen who has just about got to grips with using a computer, if you can help, replies using the simplest of terms would be much appreciated - thank you

I am running Windows Vista

Texas rose.

A:[SOLVED] Unable to install Adobe flash player...HELP!

I'm not on Vista right now, so I can't check if this works, but this applies to XP.
On XP Pro, run group policy (start, run, then type gpedit.msc). Navigate to "User Configuration", "Administrative Templates", "Windows Components", "Internet Explorer", "Administrator Approved Controls". If you double click Shockwave Flash, you can set the policy to enabled or disabled.
I can't tell if that would work on Vista, but you can try; and XP Home doesn't have group policy.

Hoping you can help us help our out of state college student with a problem. She needs Adobe 9 on her laptop (Dell inspiron 1525). However, she can't completely uninstall the Adobe 8.1.2. It gets part way through the uninstall and stops the process.

We thought if she downloaded Adobe 9 it would auto update the 8.1.2 but even that didn't work.
It is hard, of course, being long distance and trying to help over the phone. She has Vista OS and we have XP so aren't that familiar with Vista.

There is an IT department at her college so can go to but can't get there til end of week.

Appreciate any and all advise/guidance given. It would certainly decrease her frustration to get this working again!

I'm trying to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.2. It is just taking up space and I've updated to the latest version. However, I get this message: "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid". I suppose it isn't hurting me to have it on my PC, but everytime I run Secunia PSI, it wants me to "patch" that version.

Any thoughts?

Hi there,

### SOLVED (throught Windows Repair) ###

I do have massive problems uninstalling and (subsequently had and have problems) installing the Adobe CS4 Design Standard Edition.
Not only on Windows 7 x64, but even before on Vista Business x64 and Vista Enterprise x32. It pretty much didn't really work a long time at all on any OS. Only on Vista Business x64 it worked a very short time. It is really frustrating, almost disgusting that I paid a lot of money for this software and haven't really been able to really use it every since!

I tried of course uninstalling it normally (via CCleaner), failed. I used the Adobe CS3 CleanScript on "level 4" as advised (by mail support), but it doesn't help.

Of course I also called the (US-) Adobe phone support from Germany (costly when call-by-call is blocked by your ISP -.-) twice and they are just unable to cope or even properly understand my case. (Could be a callcenter somewhere abroad? -.-) They just said, "Windows 7 is not supported", that was it. Then I gave up calling them. (Maybe that all is the cause for this letter?)
Other notes:
I opened several cases on the Customer support portal and also asked on GetSatisfaction, but it just goes so slowly, it is driving one nuts. The point is, I do definitely need Adobe Acrobat + InDesign and I don't want to constantly mess around with demo software of Adobes competitors or the limited free PDF-XChange Viewer software! You might of course understand... Read more
