Preferred Solution: Solved: create special account?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Finally go it working.

Very simple, just d/l the attached .zip.

Inside is a .7z file, which you unzip onto your Hard drive.

You will have a folder C:\SIW2REC7

In there , just rt click and run as admin on the runmeasadminx64.cmd, or runmeasadminx86.cmd.

Should take a couple of mins to make a boot disc for you.

When you boot it up, 64 bit users will get this:

All those options will be in there - except macrium and partition guru.

If you want to include Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download and PartitionGuru Free - Download - you need to install them . Then they will be included automatically.

Partition Guru free is an excellent partition manager ( the only one I have found which is native 64 bit ). The free version works for 512kb mbr style - just like the macrium free version.

32 bit users will need to run runmeasadminx86.cmd instead.

Running the runmeasadminx86.cmd.gives you more options - you can include paragon and partition wizard, for example.

64 bit users can run runmeasadminx86.cmd as well - it will download a small part of WAIK (130MB ) and make the 32 bit pe for you.

64 bit users can run runmeasadminx64.cmd first (don't bother making an iso ), then run
runmeasadminx86.cmd and both will be included on one boot disc with a menu to select.
Updated version:

Updated again to v4 - fixed extraction issue, fixed adding old version of macrium - now only adds new version of macrium if you have it installed:

A:Create your own Special Repair disc

I understand everything up to

64 bit users can run runmeasadminx86.cmd as well - it will download a small part of WAIK (130MB ) and make the 32 bit pe for you.

64 bit users can run runmeasadminx64.cmd first (don't bother making an iso ), then run
runmeasadminx86.cmd and both will be included on one boot disc with a menu to select.

I already have Macrium Reflect free x64 ver.4.2 build 3775 installed so that will be included when I run your utility.

So when I do run it I do this "64 bit users can run runmeasadminx64.cmd first (don't bother making an iso ), then run
runmeasadminx86.cmd and both will be included on one boot disc with a menu to select".

But then I still have to make an .iso, Correct?

I received an e-mail from a friend, who uses a Mac, that arrived with the message hi-lited in a dark gray. The message font was black, and it could be seen that the background of the e-mail was white. But the black message was overlaid or hi-lited in a dark gray. This created an impressive effect. Between paragraphs and where the message lines ended on the right side of the e-mail you could see the white background.

My questions: 1) Can we do this in Windows and with Outlook Express? 2) If so, how?

Hey there tech support, was wondering if you could help me out,

You see, I've been trying to make a new use account my computer, but I've been unsuccessful every try. I follow the standard procedure, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\ , but that doesn't make the folder in, a) the registry, b) c:\users\<newuser> , c) User accounts password control (advanced tab) but it does show up in a) Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\ , b) Command prompt (net user).

This has been quite annoying, as I need to make my brother his own account, and I am looking at selling the computer to a friend, but he's not very tech savvy, and it'd infuriate his mother
I have taken a screen shot of the case of the Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\ and the advanced tab in User accounts password control (I assume it's what it'd be called), and the command prompt, and I have added as attatchments.
Please get back A.S.A.P

Thanks, Ryan.

I have the latest version of Thunderbird installed on my new Win 8.1 pc laptop.

I was able to create and currently have 11 email accounts set up.

However, it will not create any new accounts.

Each attempt to enter the new account (after manual config) stalls saying "password OK" after clicking done.

It never actually creates the account and the create account window just stays open unless I click cancel (done is grayed out)

If I attempt to re-enter the information I get a pop-up error message "Incoming server already exists."

I attempted what has been suggested by several various posts all over the web:

I copied the "profile" folder from this installation.
I then deleted then reinstalled Thunderbird.
I then replaced the new profile files/folders with those from the previous copied folder.

The same thing occurs in "Safe Mode"

On an additional note: Thunderbird is not saving passwords - with each restart I must re-enter the passwords for all accounts.

I want to clean install Windows 10, and I already did that before using the tutorial here.
But last time I did not have Ubuntu install.
And in the tutorial, you must delete all partitions in order for Windows to create the special necessary partitions (Recovery, MSR, MBR etc..)
But now that I have a Linux partition that I don't want to delete, and according to the tutorial, Windows installation will not create these partitions.

How can I manually create them? Is it simply allocating a space for them and naming them the proper way and Windows will know how to use them? Or there's more than that?
Also, What happens if I do not have these partitions?

A:Clean install - how to manually create the special partitions

And in the tutorial, you must delete all partitions in order for Windows to create the special necessary partitions (Recovery, MSR, MBR etc..)

You don't have to delete all partitions. As long as you leave the partition unallocated (excluded UBUNTU partition) then Windows should create all needed partitions.
NOTE: If you install Windows with UBUNTU already existed, Windows is not aware of UBUNTU. You would need to use EasyBCD to create a boot entry for UBUNTU for dual booting.

I want to clean install Windows 10, and I already did that before using the tutorial here.
But last time I did not have Ubuntu install.

Do you use Macrium to backup Windows ? If so, you don't need to re-install Windows. Just use Macrium to copy all Windows partitions back to the SSD/HD unless your Windows 10 does not function properly and you want to re-install.

howdy all,

i'd much appreciate any kind advice regarding this very small but not-easy-to-solve tech issue as follows:

well... there is a number of similar objects of every User Profile of Win7 like Recent, PrintHood, NetHood, SendTo, etc - always living in 'C:\Users\.... user name....\' folder.

all these objects look like folders but with shortcut mark on their icons, so those are neither the standard Windows folders nor the standard Windows shortcuts... well it's like a folder with shortcut i.e. link function actually, which always links to the same name full size folder located in another place of User Profile.

so now I'm keen interested on how to create back such special object named 'Recent' that was first damaged by a not good cleaning software and then manually deleted by mistake.

Note #1: of course i know that the full size folder connected to this special object has a default location as C:\Users\...user name...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent. and there is no any problem with this folder in my case. it's alive and ok.

Note #2: also I keep an understanding that it's not so difficult to repair my current User Profile by a creation of a new user profile (and this special shell object will be likely created along with other default components of this new profile) and then copy my curent profile files into the new profile, and finally delete the old one.

well... although i believe the technique of Note #2 as pretty complicated for such small and ... Read more

I changed the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon to hide a user account and expected the system to give me an option to enter username as well as password to log back on to the same hidden account. But

Unfortunately the account I have hidden is the only Administrator account I have in the system. I've tried to change the registry by logging on as a standard user. However both the command prompt and the regedit do not offer option to run as administrator.

I am trying to create a new user profile in Vista to do this. However, when I try to log on I get the: "The User Profile service failed the log on. User Profile cannot be loaded" error message.

Having looked in the C:/Users/ folder, it does not appear to have actually created a profile.folder. Similarly, when I go to security permission settings, it does not appear. It also appears to be missing from the Registry. But when I log on to Windows, it does appear on the log on screen.

We used to be on Exchange 5.5 and running mostly Outlook 2000 clients. Many of our users had a rule that would move emails from Internal staff (people in the Global Address List) to a special folder. In this way they could focus on them first.

We recently upgraded to Exchange 2003 and are now running mostly Outlook 2003. Oddly enough the rule no longer has any effect. Currently the rule looks for people in a specific address book (GAL) and moves them to a specified folder as they arrive. Only...it doesn't work.

No errors, it just does nothing.

I have been searching around for sometime but have not really found anything that seems to help.

Any suggestions?

I have Vista on Dell Inspiron laptop. When I go to Control Panel and attempt to create a new account by clicking on Add or Remove account, nothing happens. The link does not open. I am the administrator on this computer.

A:Can't create new user account

When you click on the "Add or remove user accounts" link, UAC should prompt you for permission to continue. That would be the first thing that you would see.

Is the permission dialog box hiding behind something? It doesn't show up on your taskbar, but your screen should dim and it should be on top, unless you've somehow managed to bring something else around.

Is UAC on or off? Control Panel->Security click on Security Center look to the bottom for "Other security settings," click on the down arrow to show the status of UAC.

Has Windows been activated? Winkey+Pause look to the bottom of the System panel to see the Windows activation status.
