I have an Acer Aspire 5820T and want to upgrade to Windows 10, which Acer says it doesn't support. Does anyone know how to do this, please? I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I upgraded to Windows 8 and now I noticed that the headphones won't work. First I followed some troubleshooting that concluded on uninstalling the audio drivers including some Intel version of the driver and then when I rebooted then the sound worked.
Now it happened again and I really don't want to be uninstalling the driver every time I want to use the headphones.
I downloaded the latest driver on Intel site and updated but no results.

I checked on sound settings and there are no headphones detected. Maybe there is some way of forcing the detection.

Name of the Intel to driver: AUD_Win8_Win7_6.0.1.6914_PV.exe

Thank you for your attention.

I just uninstalled the driver and rebooted to make it work and I don't see the headphones in the mixer or sound card settings ( playback tab ).

I've got the laptop named in the title, and basically what's happening is that it will run absolutely fine when not plugged in. There's not been a single issue with crashes when not plugged in. Luckily it's got good battery life which helps. However, when it's plugged in, any of the following happens.

- It won't turn on
- It turns on, the screen does not, and almost immediately the fan raises to extremely whirry levels
- It turns on, and will run fine till I ask it to do something demanding like play a game, I might get 10-20-30 mins, sometimes even more before freezing, When it does freeze the fan goes very whirry again.
- When I turn it on, if it hasn't worked normally first time, I'll start it up not plugged in. I'll plug it in later. Sometimes within a few seconds it'll lock up as stated before.Other times it'll run fine(I've noticed a possible correlation, the longer I leave it on battery power, the more chance that it doesn't lock up? )

I should state that generally if I'm just browsing the internet and stuff like that, it usually doesn't lock up.

Also, I ran a disk check a few times, and it seemed to single out a file called setapm.exe, which I've found is something to do with power management. It did something to the file and the laptop worked fine for a week, no issues at all. But since then it's re-occurred.And subsequent diskcheck's have found nothing.

My system is roughly 5 months old. I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to 7 home premium. There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to deep hibernation. The only way to wake it was to unplug the power from the tower. I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers, to finally reinstalling everything. No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer. I just got it back from Acer's repair depot. They had to replace the motherboard, hard drive, and fans on the system. They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue. I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold, the hibernation thing started again! It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory. Now it seems stable running Vista. I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell. Is it me or is Acer systems flakey?

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows 7 without having to format every week? I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly. Sometimes it won't even turn on. Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows 7?

A:Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software

Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.

The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks a lot in advance for helping me out - I've been through what feels like nearly all the other threads in here looking for a solution and I am overwhelmed by the generosity and helpfulness of people here.

So here's my problem. I upgraded my Acer Aspire One netbook (A0150) to Windows 7. This went fine, had a few issues getting Windows 7 SP1 and Microsoft Office SP2 to update via Windows Update (several failures) but got there after multiple tries.

However, since then I've been getting regular, random BSODs. I've tried most of the ideas suggested - ran memtest86 about 5 times with no faults. I had Avast installed so I uninstalled that and changed to MSE, but still get BSODs. I've run sfc /scannow (no problems detected). I've also done a clean reinstall of Windows 7 but get the same problems.

So I've reached the limit of my knowledge - any and all help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again

Steve

I decide to go with a clean install so i changed boot sequence in bios to cd first, then booted from the windows 7 media disc.

option 2 custom install i managed to delete partitions which made my restore discs effectivley scrap.

realizing there was no way back, i had to instal windows 7

all went silky smooth untill the device radeon 4000 series had code 10 cannot start

i let windows 7 update this device - rebooted...the screen never came back...the machine was ON,signal up and everything but no raster, just a mouse curser.

hmm... rebooted in safe mode, rolled back driver....screen ok but still the graphics 4570 is code 10 and cannot start.

so i inserted the acer upgrade dvd

rebooted
all ok
then i ran the puma driver, rebooted and the screen never came on...backlighting but no picture.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I looked around this website and I found that the people in here are very kind. Anyway, I installed Windows 8.1 Professional onto my Acer Aspire 6935g and I found a few problems:

- The brightness does not change at all wether I press FN and Right or Left, or do it from Windows 8. It doesn't change.

- The sound and bass sounds perfect after installing drivers but every now and then it fuzzes, so for instance, when an error appears, it makes a "fzzzzzz" sound and it's annoying. (I did something to it and it might be working fine now, I have to wait and see.)

Those are the problems I am having at the moment, I have to wait and see if I get more problems on Windows 8. I have it dual-booted with Windows 7 just in case if anything goes wrong and thank lord I did. I am typing this in Windows 7 right now because Windows 8 is having some problems. Please can anyone help?

P.S, sorry if I posted this in the wrong category. I did not know which one to put it in!

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire L3600 that I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 preferably 64-bit.

I have add a look on the Acer support site and the only driver available is for the sound card. Looking on this forum I see some people have installed Windows 7 but are unable to get a new drive up working with the wireless LAN card.

Does this mean that this model is basically not upgradable? Or as someone else found some tricks around this area where they have found some drivers work.

I am not going to attempt anything until I can satisfy myself that an upgrade will go smoothly.

Hey all,

I was wondering if at all it was possible to upgrade my Acer Aspire 5810T laptop.

Help and advice appreciated

A:Possible to upgrade Acer Aspire CPU?

The best way to increase performance in this laptop is to increase system memory to the max allowed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Windows, 4GB total memory is allowed. For a 64-bit Windows, 8GB is max allowed. There are a total of 2 memory slots for two 2GB DDR3 1066 modules or two 4GB DDR3 1066 modules. Upgrading CPU's if possible, won't do much for increased performance

Sorry to rehash this thread, the other one was "solved" but didn't answer my questions I was reading up in this forum becuase there is a lightly used Acer Aspire TC-705 for sale in my area for really cheap and was possibly going to upgrade it and give it to a friend.  I saw that the 750 Ti was a choice people went with in this rig because it is small and also didn't need power connectors from a PSU. I also saw that a guy had a GTX 960 (i assume mini/single fan) in it, and said that he had the same MOBO as this pc, it was unclear to me weather he had the exact same PC though, so maybe his was in a different (bigger?) case. Really what I am trying to figure out (without actually buying the PC first) is what is the biggest GPU I could fit in here. I do plan on upgrading the PSU to an extra 550W that I upgraded from in my personal rig.  Has anyone had anyluck putting a 900 series or 1000 series Nvidia card in one of these with success? or is 750Ti the best that will fit in here?

A:Can I upgrade my Acer Aspire XC-705?

your model has:2 SATA 3.0 port1 SATA 2.0 port so this is the first issue you will encounter, not enough ports if you keep the DVD drive connected. the biggest issue is the lacking of RAID (hardware) support from the BIOS (at least i can't find any reference to this option on the BIOS). so, not worth in my opinion, since you must rely on a software RAID 1 enviroment.

How can I upgrade RAM in Acer Aspire Z1-611?

A:upgrade RAM in Acer Aspire Z1-611

There isn't much information about how to do this... But, essentially this machine has a single memory slot that comes from the factory with 4GB, which you can remove and replace with an 8GB module. Suppliers like Crucial and Kingston offer the correct specification. However, the hard part is opening up the unit and replacing the memory. It's not straightforward, which explains why Acer don't provide instructions. It's probably best done by an experienced computer technician- but for those wanting to do the upgrade themselves here are the steps: 1. With the unit turned off and disconnected find a table to work at. Turn the unit over, face down, and place it on something soft that won't scratch the screen or generate static. A wool blanket or something like that should do.2. Prise off the small square white plastic cover above the stand. You should be able to do this with your fingers - don't use a screwdriver because you'll scratch the plastic surface.3. With the cover off, you'll see the HDD. The are two Philips screws that hold the HDD and its caddy into the back of the unit. Unscrew the two screws and keep them safe.4. Slide the HDD across, you will feel it come away from the SATA interface. You will then be able to lift the HDD out. Handle it with care, put it with the screws somewhere safe.5. Now to prise the back off... You don't need any tools for this. Looking round the gap between the front and back mouldings, gently pull each mould away from each other. Sl... Read more

do you reckon it'd be ok to put the Q6600 and 1 patriot stick in?

A:upgrade acer aspire x1700

It may work, that chipset can support the Core 2 Quad processors but it depends if Acer BIOS has support for it. The mounting holes will likely be standard so if you have a better heatsink you can use it unless the Acer cooler fits better for the smaller Acer case. Probably would be wise to update the motherboard's BIOS from the Acer website before swapping CPU's just in case the BIOS adds additional CPU support and any other fixes such as improved memory compatibility.

Same for the RAM, the unit supports 2 x 2GB DDR2 RAM so it should work unless the memory requires much higher voltage to work then the stock voltages.

Whats wrong with the SSD? You may want to update its firmware to the latest version, fully erase it and give it another shot - an SSD will make a very nice improvement for this system.

I recently purchased two 1GB SODIMM PC2700 DDR 200 pin to upgrade the memory on my Acer Aspire 5003wlmi laptop. After removing the original 512mb memory, I placed the two 1GB chips in the memory slots, but the computer won't turn on properly (the fan engages for about 2 seconds, then shuts off. The screen stays blank and only the green power light stays on). After consulting with Acer's support, they concluded that my motherboard does not support the chips because I need to update my BIOS.

I understand how sensitive updating the BIOS is and want to do this properly. I downloaded the zip file provided by Acer's support site for my laptop, which included WinPhlash, but do not know which file to flash to update. There is a file that I think is the update called ZL53A32.WPH.

Go to Solution.

A:Acer Aspire R7-571 RAM memory upgrade

First, you shouldn't need more than 8GB total unless you're doing something REMARKABLY memory-intensive. My high-end desktop has 8GB, and it would be cheap and easy for me to change that to 16GB, but it's simply not worth it. 8GB is fine for 98% of people, whether your uses include office work, Internet browsing, or even high-end gaming. If you DO really need more than 8GB, I think you'll be limited to 12GB. On the R7, 4GB tends to be soldered onto the motherboard. You can replace your other 4GB SODIMM with an 8GB SODIMM for 12GB total. You can always get a torx screwdriver and open it up for a look. But you should be fine with 8. If you're looking for a performance boost, according to that spec sheet you've linked, the R7-571 in your country didn't include any SSD. You should have an empty MSATA port that you can use with an MSATA SSD. Moving your Windows from the 1TB HDD to a MSATA SSD will make it far more responsive.

Hi. I'm trying to upgrade the RAM of my Acer Aspire 5024wlmi from 1 to 2gb. I have bought a couple of KomputerBay 1gb RAM  compatible models with the Acer RAM specifications (DDR SODIMM (200 pin) 333Mhz PC2700 DDR333 CL2.5).After the replacement of the two 512mb RAM, the computer starts up, you can hear just two "beeps" but the screen remains totally black, nothing else.Besides replacing the RAM, I must make something else that I don't know? Thanks for the help

hi all, please help, i have an acer aspire with vista premium. i am trying to upgrade to windows seven home premium. family pack 3 from staples. it starts fine but at a point halfway thru the install i get an error code ox80070570 and the program terminates. any ideas? Thanks

A:upgrade to 7 acer aspire m1100

That error code is basically a 'bad file/directory' code.
It's possible there is an issue with the drive in the laptop, or the dvd you have may be damaged.
If you burned it, I suggest burning another disc, with a very slow burn to ensure viability of the burn.

Hello! I want to upgrade the CPU and RAM of Aspire 5738G. The Chipset is PM45. Current CPU is C2D [email protected] and current RAM is 2x2GB Kingston DDR2 PC2-6400 at 400MHz. I'm confused because some sources say that it cannot be upgradedbut official intel PM45 docs say other. I want to put 8GB memory and if its possible a little bit faster cpu. Thanks in advance! PS: I found an answer here on RAM upgrading. It says it can be upgraded with two 4 GB DDR2 modules. But what about DDR3 and CPU?
