I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The touchpad on my ideapad 700 has suddenly stopped working.

I've done  a search on both the internet and on here and all I'm seeing is variations on "go to device manage and click here" at least part of which I cannot do as my touchpad isn't working.......

How can I fix this? Without having to navigate to areas I can only get to by using my touchpad.....

ThanksLee

Hello, I can't get the touchpad scrolling to work with Windows. I tried installing/reinstalling and updating the driver but nothing worked. I tried installing Ubuntu on the laptop, and there I got multitouch scrolling even without drivers, so I don't really think the touchpad can't support scrolling.I'm running latest Windows 10 with latest drivers from Lenovo support page. Why is this problem? Is it the Windows or the official drivers for Windows are bugged?(It won't work with 7/8.1 either, tried them all)

A:Lenovo Ideapad 100 15-IBY touchpad scroll not work...

Seems like the problem is that Lenovo thought this would be acceptable place to cut costs (not having any touchpad scrolling).  They are very very wrong, this thing is going right back to the store.

*************** SOLVED *************Hi there !   I really need your help this is very concerning. My PC is an Ideapad 100S-14IBR. While I was typing some text in college, my hardware (touchpad and keyboard) stopped responding and the text editor kept on writing the last key I pressed, as if kept it pressed. Not concerned, I just hard rebooted because I was stuck. This hasn't solved the issue, both my touchpad and keyboard are still unresponsive. When booting, pressing F12 to acces boot menu doesn't work either (used to work). The keyboard isn't even recognised in boot... this makes me think the problem is a lot more serious thant what I thought At home, I did a complete reinstall of the system with a USB keyboard and mouse plugged after saving my works. Reinstalling didn't solve the problem, the touchpad and keyboard still don't work. I checked and I have both mouse and keyboard drivers, all up to date. The Windows Diagnosing Utility didn't find anything. Lenovo System Update doesn't give me any result too.How can I fix this please ? Help will be greatly appreciated. I need this computer for work :/ Thanks

Hi all,Last October I bought an Ideapad 720s 13IKB, and ever since I always had problems with the touchpad. Sometimes it works, sometimes it gets blocked, sometimes even the cursor doesn't show. I've surfed the Internet and tried all the possible solutions:- Checked for any possible update (both Windows' and the Lenovo's driver);- Uninstalled the driver and rebooted the laptop in order to let it find and install the driver by itself;- Tried several types and versions of drivers;- Rebooted I-don't-know-how-many-times the laptop, hoping that things will get better;- And yes, I checked the touchpad is enabled through the F6 button. I don't think it is a hardware problem, since the touchpad sometimes works I'm sick and tired of this problem, since the computer is new and it costed a little fortune and I need it everyday since I use it for work. Any saviour?

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop that has issues. Sometimes the touchpad works, and sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed when it doesn't work, the icon in the tray has disappeared or never booted up to begin with. Sometimes it boots up and sometimes it just doesn't even boot up to the tray at all. And at other times, it does.
(Along with this, maybe it's just a coincidence, but I've been working on this for days and days but when the touchpad doesn't work, the keyboard acts up too!) This might have nothing to do with it at all.

I've done a complete reformat of the hard drive, installed Win XP Professional, reinstalled drivers over and over. Been to the Dell website and have all the newest drivers.
When I reinstall the touchpad drivers, it does work once again, but this seems to be short lived.
The laptop is 4 years old...seems strong otherwise, can handle multiple tasks fairly well, has a dual core installed.
I can't figure it out.
Can anyone help?

Thank you!!
Pam

I have purchase multiple xps 13 and inspiron 13 laptops and observe the same issues.  I tend to use the touch pad with my right hand's index finger, and click the touchpad button with my left hand's index finger.  It's a quick way to get things done.  Many in my organization do this, too and have been running into problems.
However, quite frequently (but not all the time) when I click the button with my left hand the cursor jumps to another location on the screen.  Frequently this is the lower-left corner of the screen, but sometimes it is the upper right, too. This causes different windows to come into focus, or it activates the start menu.  Really , really annoying, and it happens on both laptop models.  Our previous Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and Acer laptops did not have this issue.
I think this has to do with the touch pad thinking that the user has two fingers on the touch pad and moves the cursor thinking the finger jumped around the pad.  Otherwise the gestures and movement of the touchpad is fine.
Is this a known issue to Dell?  It's really aggravating and other users in my organization are complaining as well.  I may need to return the lot (3 XPS 13, 5 Inspiron 13 machines ) and look at different hardware.

A:Touchpad not working on ideapad 300. How do I fix ...

Hi there, Tom ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just found the same problem with my Ideapad 500. Touch pad completely non responsive.
Under start menu, settings, devices, mouse & touchpad, additional mouse options, elan tab. The elan touchpad settings were completely grayed out and unavailable.

So from there I went to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and opened the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled l checked the delete driver and then OK.
Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen. So my elan touch pad is now working again.

I am assuming that the driver had been corrupted in the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 310-151SK (non-touchscreen).  Other than an extremely awkward placement of the up arrow key and Shift key, I like it.  But there are two reoccuring problems which I can't solve, which may or may not be related. 1) Periodocally, the pointer gets a mind of its own...  it moves erratically, opens and closes windows (as if the buttons left/right buttons are being clicked), jumps around, barely (if at all) responses to motions on the touchpad.  But if I wait 15 to 60 seconds, everything returns to normal.  It's strange.  Waiting for a bit is the only solution.  This happens about once every two hours of usage, not enough to cause real problems, but enough to be annoying.  No apparent  correlation with system utilization, time since boot, etc. 2) Also periodically, the computer hangs.  I can move the mouse cursor, but that's it.  Clicking doesn't get a menu, even on the desktop. In fact, everything with the computer, except the cursor, 'pauses'/freezes for 20-30 seconds. Then it returns to normal.  No correlation with the event above either. I have tried updating drivers.  I have watched for some event that proceeds the two events.  Frustratingly, the latest driver, from Lenovo website, for the ELAN touchpad causes Win10 to bluescreen, so I have rolled back to previous driver (related/separate issue? why is that driver even posted on the Lenovo official webs... I just bought this laptop and I can't seem to enable touchpad scrolling? The touchpad itself is working, but there's no way to scroll. Everything I've found online says it was a problem with Windows 10, and you have to enable that setting under Mouse Properties in the ELAN tab, but when I go there, there's no device listed. Greetings. I have a brand new Ideapad 320-15IAP laptop - actually two of them! One is just fine the other has a problem with the touchpad. Both have had Windows deleted and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed. One of the laptops has normal touchpad function except when trying to drag (pressing the left click and moving the cursor with the touchpad). Once the left click is pressed, the touchpad will not move the cursor. A USB mouse works normally on the malfunctioning laptop. Since the other identical laptop works fine and both were upgraded to Ubuntu in the same hour, and USB mouse works OK; it is clearly neither a driver issue nor an OS issue. But here are my questions: 1) how do I request service to repair this touchpad?2) preliminary checks suggest I would have to ship it to the USA, but can that be correct? Does Lenovo provide a shipping authorization?3) Since Lenovo support seems to be software-focused, how will the presence of Ubuntu OS affect my prognosis? I did not see any information with the laptop when I purchased it requiring that I retain Windows as my OS to retain warranty coverage - did I miss some small print somewhere? Thank you for your kind assistance!

Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

Hello, I tried to upgrade to windows 8 and found that the touchpad became super sensitive and jumpy. Reading online I found a firmware that claimed to fix the issue and found it on HPs Support site. Mid install, it reported that it failed and forced a reboot on the laptop. When it was back up and running I found that the touchpad no longer worked. Its exactly the same issue as in these links: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Touchpad-Not-Working-After-Faile... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Touchpad-Firmware-Failed/td-p/23... I've tried to reflash and to get new drivers but they are not able to go through. The drivers install but don't fix anything. The flashing will quit saying I need drivers first even though I have them.  I've even reformated and put the factory windows 7 image back on but it still will not work. The solutions posted in the above links didnt work for me.  Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?

We just got a Dell XPS-15z, and, we have questions about scrolling on the Cypress touchpad using the Cypress drivers.

When scrolling down (either one finger or 2 fingers), when you hit the bottom of the touchpad, is there any way for the scrolling to continue without your having to lift your finger(s) back to the top of the touchpad? On other Dell laptops, I have Chiral motion, or the scrolling continues so long as your finger is at the bottom of the touchpad? I tried enabling the "Continued Motion" option just in case that was what did it, but that did not seem to work.

Which brings up another question re what "Continued Motion" does.

Also, is there any manual/help document for this driver either on the internet, or in the software itself?

I looked on the forum and on the internet, and couldn't find any answers.

TIA.

Hello everyone,Some months ago a drink was spelled on my Ideapad 700-15ISK, after which the keyboard and touchpad have not been functioning properly. I left it at Lenovo's Support Center in Egypt for over two months to replace the uppercase/keyboard, after which they told the part (PartNo: 5CB0L03519) was not available or was no longer supplied by Lenovo. I even suggested installing whatever keyboard they could find (not necessarily Arabic/English keyboard), but no luck either. Could anyone refer me to where I can order such parts (kbd, touchpad, etc) online? Thanks for your help!

I just got my new Lenovo Ideapad 710s-13sk yesterday.

I've used it for 2 days now, and it seems that the 2 finger scroll up and down triggers the 3 finger function from time to time?

So when i want to scroll, sometimes the task view shows up or everything minimizes depending on what direction i scroll of course.

Have anybody else experienced this and found a solution for it?

My laptop stopped working and I have started troubleshooting it today and have hit roadblock after roadblock trying to figure out what could be wrong.  When i turn the power on the power button turns on and the LEDS on the indicator bar at the bottom turn on but the screen turns off. I have tried to hard reset. I have removed the battery also to hard reset. Also has not worked. Tried connecting to the AC adapter after testing the AC adapted itself which is still measuring at 20V and the screen will flash white for a second when its plugged in without the battery. I checked the heat sink to make sure it was working and it si working fine. When I removed the fan though the thermal paste underneath was less than minimal and it fealt greasy. I don't think my CPU would have burnt up though because though becasue my system should have responded and triggered to shutdown. Everything is plugged in appropriately. All my memory is appropriately placed and nothing traumatic has happened to this laptop. Has not been dropped, stepped on, nothing.  I'm concerned maybe my motherboard shorted out but I feel liked that would be a little extreme. Do you have other suggestions for troubleshooting? I'm leaving it on the charger overnight before I mess with it again tomorrow! Thanks!

Hi, I have an Ideapad Y430 that was purchased January this year. The problem I am facing is that the touchpad mouse goes crazy when I am sitting with the laptop at certain angles.Particularly, if I am lounging on a couch with the laptop sitting in my lap... The mouse pointer goes crazy and windows start opening up and I can see left and right click menus coming up on the screen even when I am not touching the mousepad on the laptop.I have no problems using USB mouse though.I was wondering if anyone here has faced a similar problem and if so, what is the solution.I have tried checking for updated drivers and even installing Windows 7 but it is the same problem no matter what and it is pretty frustrating. I will appreciate any help on the issue Thanks,Sunny

I think the case interferes with the mouse when you rest your hands on it. My Fujitso, Dell and Lenovo have the same problems. It is ok if I don't lean my hands on the case and just touch the keys. Maybe the have the same vendor making the mouse pad.

Hello Lenovo Community!  I'm a proud owner of a Lenovo IdeaPad 700-15ISK. I like this laptop alot, even though I only got it a week ago. There is a problem, however. My touchpad is "jumping" at specific time intervals (approx. at a 3 second interval). The "lag" doesn't last more than 0.5 milliseconds, but it's really, really annoying. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the Synaptics touchpad drivers (I use Windows 10). I tried the ones from Lenovo Support, then the generic ones. I also tried disabling PalmCheck. It didn't work. I tried disabling Realtek Audio Manager, as some people on these forums had a problem with the audio driver causing some kind of conflict, on other laptop models. But that did not work either. Then I installed Ubuntu, and the problem still persisted. I have this annoying touchpad problem even in boot menus! (like Windows/Ubuntu menus, before installing the OS).I opened up a program, which is incorporated into the Synaptics Driver on Windows, called MoodPad, which basically draws a line when you swipe your finger across the touchpad surface. I noticed there are gaps inbetween. I posted some photos to make things more clear. The intervals are fixed, no matter if you swipe the finger across or not. For instance, if you happen to swipe it 2 seconds after the previous "lag" had occured, the next one will occur after 1 second (there is a 3 second interval, as I said before), and so on. Here are the photos from MoodPad.
