Q: MSN help - Buttons/Menus

This is what I need help with:

I don't have the buttons for like msn smileys etc. I've looked around the entire program and found nothing. No clue what to do.

Preferred Solution: MSN help - Buttons/Menus

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: MSN help - Buttons/Menus

Hello Swarfega, Welcome to TSF!

This issue might be caused by a corrupted file in the MSN Messenger program...the solution to this would be to uninstall your current MSN Messenger; then, download and install the latest WindowsLiveMessenger? from this site. (click the coloured link.)

You will not lose any names in your MSN Contact List when you do this.

Post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

Hi Guys, sorry if my english it's a bit broken, best regards from Brazil!

So, this problem has been plaguing me for a few months now. I lived with it because I could not find a solution in any forum or website. Yesterday I completely formated the PC and reinstaled Windows 7. For my surprise, the problem came back already, I could not belived it. So, what happens it's this:

This does not happens with programs like Microsoft Office or Adobe. Usually only with smaller things, like a game Launcher, smaller installers, etc. Like in the 2nd image, it's a ROM editor for messing with old game boy games.
Those blank spaces should have buttons, however they get like this when I put the mouse cursor over.
They still work, but I can't see what I'm doing.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi guys, sorry if my english it's a little broken, best regards from Brazil!

I'm having some trouble for a long time now... I already searched a number of foruns and other help websites, but no luck so far. I tried to format my PC, reinstall Windows 7 and nothing.

Basically, when I run some softwares, all different kinds, usually small ones, no problemas when I'm using Microsoft Office, Adobe software, etc... I'm getting blank buttons, menus and dialog boxes. they are fine, until I put the mouse cursor over it, then the go blank/white (like in the images - the first one it's where the "next" button should be, the 2nd one, it's the blank/white spaces, should be some buttons right there)Any ideia what it's going on? Thanks!

Ok... Here is my situation.

On my fiends computer, which is running Win7 x64 Ultimate, any button (Yes, No, Next, Cancel) or drop down menu is blank. In addition to that, some windows will open in some pretty wacky ways.

Here is the direct scenario of how I discovered this...

I was there to repair the installation of Google Chrome (Just uninstalled and reinstalled) and while I was doing so I noticed the the buttons in the installer window were blank. They were they and functional...but completely empty along with some text that should of been within the window (License Agreement and what not). This was the case with anything I did that brought me to a window with buttons. I installed Adobe Acrobat, CCleaner and Malwarebytes...all the same problem.

I figured it may be a problem with the GFX drivers, so I downloaded and tried to install the latest drivers. This is when I ran into windows opening up in some wack proportions. Either EXTREMELY short and wide...like it took a ton of clicking and dragging to pull the portion of the window in view so i could close it.

Any ideas at all as to what would be causing this??

Does anyone know how or where I can find script to create a rollover effect which will display the sub-menus to the side of the link, without having to actually go to a new page? Is this feature a javascript function? If easier to show, please refer me to sites that do this effectively so I can look at the code.

Several times now, when I start my computer, everything seems normal. But when I try and click on the start button, a quick launch button or a task bar button - NOTHING HAPPENS. I just get a ping sound from my speakers.
Sometimes a restart fixes the problem and sometimes I have to turn the computer off and then on again to get it to work correctly.

Does anyone know what could be wrong and what I can do to fix it.

You would need to locate the Context menu that has been added in the registry;

for example

you would then add a new Key within that which would then produce what you are after.

If you give some details of what exactly you're after, including programs to run, I may be able to create a registry key for you

I wonder if you can suggest a solution to a problem I'm having with my display on XP. What happens is that when working on various programmes (none in particular) the Taskbar and Start menu jumps up and starts jumping around the screen. (On one occasion is re-arranged all my desktop items) It usually happens when I click the mouse to do something else but sometimes when I am not touching anything.
The only way I can gain control back is to press CRTL-Alt-Delete so that the task manager comes up. I then minimise that again and close the taskbar menu that has appeared and carry on. Sometimes though it has then altered the functions of the keys so that I cannot highlight a series of items when holding down the shift key. Only one item at a time can be used!
There can be hours of work sometimes before anything like that goes wrong but it seems more likely when I have several windows open and the internet connected.I was wondering if it was an unstable RAM problem.
Can you suggest anything else it might be please?
Many thanks,

Hello, I have a nuisance problem with my XP. Starting a week ago, whenever I click on a pull down menu, the box opens but the I cannot read the list. For example, if I click on View, I cannot see the choices like : refresh, toolbars, text size, etc. I discovered that if I drag my mouse down, I can make them appear. Same happens with Tools or Help or with Edit.

This problem happens when :

1. I am using windows explorer
2. Internet explorer
3. windows media player
4. paint
5. music match JukeBox
6. streets and maps

I am sure it happens with other programs as well.

With AutoCad - the problem clears up right away

I just installed Windows XP overwriting Windows ME.

Before installing it said that any files in 'My Documents' could be deleted - so I copied that folder into a different folder that was on the desktop. Now I had two other folders on the desktop asides from 'My Documents' and both of those are nowhere to be seen now that XP is installed.

Are they gone for good? - I'm guessing that when it said 'My Documents' could be deleted that it meant anything on the desktop.

Also, all the menu shortcuts have been reset (no links to games/applications that I had on the hard drive) even though all the games/apps programs are on the hard drive.

Is there anywhere that these menus/missing folders are stored? or am I going to have to do this the long hard way?

A:Old files and menus

Wellll Pete.....

Yeah, probably the hard way.

I hope you know the file names (or at least
the extensions) of those files that don't

First, change the "View" options to show
all files and their headers.

Then search for the files or extensions. The
"Search" feature should find them.

Keep in mind that some games (based on DOS),
may play improperly or not at all.

I think that's why so many people want to dual-
boot, so they can still play DOOM, etc.
Upon finding the files, move them back to
My Documents, or wherever they go.

...and Good Luck,

A:nero dvd menus???

When you add menus, you add interactive features. I would think that interactive features would take a lot more writing in the software itself, making it take up a lot more room, and a lot more to write, when copying, which would make it take longer. Isn't the file size, with menus, bigger than without menus?
It may have nothing to do with this. I just thought it sounded good!

Either with Win7 or with the latest version of programs, the top window row (above the menu), the menu, the toolbars and other items are all blended together. This makes it harder to figure out where what starts, where to grab the window, drag sections, etc. Of course I can see it but you need to look more carefully than before. I have been using Win7 and the newest versions of many programs for a long time but I am still not used to this (I got used to the ribbon menu even if I don't like it too much). This approach seems a big step backwards. Does anybody feel the same? Maybe it's good Balmer is going out and hopefully with him a few others who came up with this new GUI that tries to hard to be slick like Apple (I am no apple fan boy) but fails miserably doing so... Just my 2 cents.

A:Toolbars, Menus, etc

Possibly some screen shots of the view would help (me anyway) see what your referring to,
The ribbon has a Quick access toolbar which if you right click it and click on show below ribbon it makes items easier to see and use.

I've been googling the internet for about a week now, trying to optimize my windows workflow. I thought maybe if I spend a week or so trying to minimize my clicks to tasks I might save time overall. However, one thing I still haven't found is radial menus for Windows 7.

Brink, this is sort of directed to you, since I've read many of your context menu tweak tutorials...

What I'd like to do, is remove all context items from the menus starting with the desktop. When I right click my desktop, I get:

View >
Sort By >
Paste Shortcut
Nvidia Control Panel
Shared Folder Sync (Office) >
New >
Screen Resolution

I mean look at it, and if I click from the top half of the screen, View is what starts next to my pointer. So I have to drag all the way down the menu, adding extra workflow. I don't even use any of those except New > Notepad|Wordpad|Excel and RARELY Personalize.

What I'd like to do though, is remove everything, then add functions I would typically use everyday, like a shortcut to Documents, Magnifier, Onscreen Keyboard, Google Chrome, and TASK MANAGER!!! (Really want this lol)

Just getting the info to customize the context menu to the above description would be perfect, but if it's possible I'd also like to reduce my scroll length by changing the Bar to a Radial Menu.

Instead of dragging 8 rows down each time I want to ... Read more

A:Radial Menus?

There are some right click replaces, but they are traditional (linear).
There are some docks for some applications which resemble pie (radial) menus.

But I am not aware of any software, which would combine these two features.

As alternative non-radial solutions,

I would recommend looking at something like Dell dock (or more advanced version Object Dock Stardock Corporation - Software - ObjectDock Plus - Product Information) Picture is attached.

And you can also use shortcuts.
The Master List of New Windows 7 Shortcuts
For example:
Win+number (1-9): Starts the application pinned to the taskbar in that position, or switches to that program.

So, if you pin Documents, Magnifier, Onscreen Keyboard, Google Chrome, and TASK MANAGER you can start them by Win+1, Win+2, Win+3, etc…

AFAIK, you'll have to set it to use the Web page's specified colors to fix that.

I have a friend using Windows XP home edition with Internet Explorer 7.0. If she goes to a website like www.expedia.com, whenever she clicks on a dropdown menu to change the date or information, the menu opens up as blank and the mouse cursor turns into a crosshair. I've recently loaded IE9 onto my system and seem to be getting problems with dropdown menus since doing this.

The first I've noticed is when typing into the google home page search box. I get the drop down menu showing possible searches I'm looking for, which highlite when I move the cursor to them but nothing happens when I click on one (although it works perfectly from the google toolbar).

The second area is on google maps. If I right click on a map it brings up the windows context menu rather than the maps context menu. Right clicking a few more times then brings up both.

Never had this before the change to IE9.
