Preferred Solution: Share Microsoft Edge Settings with other Computer Users.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Plzz share your experience how is it working, any probs faced, incompatibilities with sites, etc...

A:Microsoft Edge Heavy Users

It is my secondary browser, Edge "out of the box" is safer than any browsers (out of the box) because Appcontainer integrity level. Until now i don't get any issues. I would use it all the time when extensions will be implemented.

Firstly, my home page is set up to open in Duckduckgo but it opens in Bing nevertheless. Microsoft Edge sets automatically its default search engine to Microsoft edge and does not allow to reset it to DUckduckgo. Secondly, even if I use Duckduckgo, Microsoft
Edge tracks my loggings. I keep deleting the logging but is there a way to remedy it? Is there enough users to file class action suit for violating users rights ( select engine and privacy issues). Some engines allow to clear all search history upon closing
the browser. Microsoft Edge does not provide this option. Although, Microsoft implies we are using Ducduckgo, they blatantly track us. Where the data go? To NSA?

Hello everyone, here are some tips to improve the performance and security of Microsoft Edge:

1.) Turn on 'Send Do Not Track requests'

2.) Turn on 'Block pop-ups'

3.) Turn on 'Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with SmartScreen Filter'

4.) Turn off 'Let sites save protected media licenses on my device'

5.) Change 'Don't block cookies' to 'Block only third-party cookies'

You can also turn 'Use Adobe Flash Player' off but it may break some pages.

Hope this helps, have a good day!

What is the best way to restrict the proxy settings in Microsoft Edge?I need the proxy settings greyed out and not allow users to edit the settings.

I know Edge uses IE11 proxy settings but Edge has a different menu view. I am able to block IE11 with the following registry entries in Group policy but doesnt seem to work correctly in edge.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel]
"Proxy" dword:00000001

Connections dword:00000001

Also I created an Item level target with a security group to allow admins to update the proxy settings.

Thanks in advance!

First off Hello everybody and sorry this is my first post I am normally just a lurker. This forum, even though I have never posted ,has been a huge help with quite a few things and a great resource in general.

Trying to clear out the All Apps list on the start menu. Most apps I have uninstalled and utility folders deleted. The 3 things left on there that I would still like to remove are Cortana, Microsoft Edge, and Settings. I do not want to uninstall Cortana or Microsoft Edge. I simply do not want those three things to appear in the list. i.e. I deleted the Administrative Tools folder from programdata/microsoft/windows/startmenu which stops the shortcuts from appearing in the list but I still have access to all the things within.

I know its small but its important. On a side note I could have sworn i read somewhere that microsoft was going to be updating their upgrade system so you no longer had to do an in place upgrade before you could do a clean install. Does anybody know anything about that or is that not a thing. I do not seem to be able to find the original article I was reading and may have misread.

Bit of a late reply here, but the issue is still relevant so I thought I would reply.

As yet there still seems to be no solution to this problem. Microsoft have bypassed the normal folders that list apps in the start menu so that some apps can't be removed from the list. This includes Edge, Cortana and... Read more

On the 64bit system I use the default Administrator account created by Windows. All other accounts have been disabled and no other accounts exist. When I right click on a .exe file and click on the COMPATIBILITY tab the last option that can be checked is: Allow other users of this computer to access this file.

On the 32bit system I use a created Administrator account, not the default created by Windows, one other created Administrator, User and Guest accounts exist. When I am logged into either created Admin account and right click on a .exe file the above mention option is not listed under the COMPATIBILITY tab.

For the life of me I can't remember (or figure out) how to share a program with multiple users on the same computer. There is my desktop, there is another desktop, and then there is the original (if you cancel instead of log-on) AllUsers. I installed Microsoft Office 2000 off of disks onto my own personal desktop. I figured it would automatically install on the other 2. It didn't. How do I do that without having to do the whole disk thing again? Thank you.

HermesGirl
When you created user profiles you selected the individuals to have there own customizable desktops which is OK. However in doing so they do not share a specific program setup on anothers desktop as you found out. The easiest way to fix this is to create a shortcut to the main exe on the individuals desktop.

Most main program folders are maintained in C:\program files folders so use Windows Explorer and navigate there to verify. If it is there then do the following,
Step 1- Navigate to C:\Windows\Profiles\"Person name"\Desktop and click once to open folder.
Step 2- Once folder is open and you see contents in right pane then scroll the open left pane of Windows Explorer back to the C:\Program files folder and locate the main program icon within the folder for the specific program you wish to share and right click it and click create shortcut.
Step 3- Once shortcut is created locate it in the right pane list and right click and select cut.
Step 4- In left pane scroll back down to the users desktop folder and click once to open in right pane.
Step 5- Paste the shortcut there.
Step 6- Icon will appear on users desktop now.
Step 7- Close Windows Explorer.

Note: If for some reason main program is not located in C:\program files then locate the program folder and follow the same process.

Also Note: If Program folder is located in C:\Program file folder, or for that matter no matter where it is located (if there are no restrictions), the specific user or you... Read more

Dear all:
I am trying to find a solution to make our warehouse process more efficiently. I figure that I need extra shipping servers (one more for UPS and one for FedEx). One way is to simply purchase two additional desktops and hook them up. Alternative choice would be get a software to host one computer for multi-users at same time.

I would like to know, if any of you ever have done this, is it worth doing? Any pro and con? Any recommanded software? I searched and found www.thinsoftinc.com has some cool stuff (although they charge you $99 per user license).

Thanks a bunch =)

A:Share one computer to multi-users simultaneously...Pro & Con?

Purely from a backup point of view, 2 separate units would be better. If UPS breaks down, you could ship your stuff using the FedEx PC (AND service) and vice versa.
Both on the same PC is asking for trouble if it should break down!

I want to be able to share Administrator documents and files with user acoounts on the same computer.... without having access to the internet.

I only have one computer. But I have 7 different user accounts on that one computer. I want each of my users to have access to the Administrators documents (files and folders etc)

I went to Administrator Documents, then I Right clicked on a folder, then I clicked on Share With>specific people> I click on the user account and then I get a box saying my folder was succcessfully shared, and now I need to email a link to the specific user account.

I do all this and then switch user. I go to the users email and try to click on the link and it wont click. I try to copy and paste into the users documents, but it will not copy and paste.

I go to the user's Documents and try to see if there is a link there....but nothing is there.

What am I doing wrong?

I have a unusual case where I need to setup two mapped network drives as two different users to the same share location. When I attempt to map the second drive after inputting the user name and password the system goes on its merry way for a few seconds
and then returns me back to the username/password input.
If I change the second mapped network drive to use the IP address the two shares work happily. If I manipulate the host file and point two paths to the same address then I can also work around this problem. However, I would simply like to know why I am blocked
from setting two mapped drives to point to the same share with different credentials?
e.g.
TestFolder on TestServer is shared to TestUser1 & TestUser2 where the IP of TestServer is 192.168.0.2.
Case1
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will not work.
Case2
Mapping S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\192.168.0.2\TestFolder using TestUser2 it will work and I can access the folder as the two different users.
Case 3
If I map S: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1, if I then map T: to \\TestServer\TestFolder using TestUser1 it will also work (but I am accessing S: & T: as the same user).
Why do cases 2 + 3 work, but case 1 does not?

Hi there.
Just wondering if there are any SKY GO users here --I love it for UK football (Premier league on Sky sports).

However because it still uses Silverlite security one is forced to continue to use IE11 (although I believe there are some unofficial workarounds to get this stuff to work on Google Chrome).
The Android app works fine but you can't cast to an external screen (Mirroring gets disabled) so you are forced to use a browser on a PC for relly nice HD pics.

SKY don't even seem to realize that W10 even EXISTS - and that's using UK call centres - once you get transferred to an Indian call centre - then it's another whole Ball game : "What's SKY GO -- We don't have any information on that Service " !!!.

Can't understand the logic here -- a service people will legally sign up and PAY for puts so many obstacles in the way of legitimate users accessing the service compared with some "Pirate streams" which work instantly without any mega problem that I often use these "Alternative streams" even though I am quite happy paying for the legal service.

Cheers

I have one Win 8.1 computer that husband and I share. Also a printer and two external backup drives. I have an account as owner/administrator, and have created a standard user account for daily non-admin use that I changed permissions for to be able to read/write each of the folders under This PC. But, the new account can't see them.

I've been reading about "Public Folders" and "Homegroup" but really don't know what way to go. Do I need a Homegroup because of the printer/external drives? Or should I use Public Folders? If Folders, where exactly would I save new items, like a document or song? Would they have to be saved in the User/Public folders and then automatically show up in a matching folder in the Library, but not really saved there?

I'm technically fairly illiterate, and my husband is whatever is worse than that...so I want it to be as easy to share as possible.

I guess, in a nutshell, I'm just not understanding this part of 8.1.

Hello way2ob2se,

After reading your post, I'm still a bit lost as to what you primary goal is when establishing two accounts in your current situation. Specifically, do you want to limit/restrict access to one account because it seems like you are try to give full access to the second account. Now, if my assumptions are correct, then why not just share the same account? Please understand that I am not trying to undermine your intentions but right now I'm just not understanding the logic. So, maybe you could try and reword it; however, if you think you have explained your issue clearly, then please wait for additional responses. For the record, my wife and I use the same acount on our single PC. Good luck in getting the response that your are looking for.

hi i don't know if you can actually do this but i would like to make it where
all users have all the same files folders desktop as i do.

reason: I've been locked out of logon before. i really prefer the simple welcome screen with no log on at all but i understand why you need to for security.

anyway, if i get locked out of logon it seems like it would be nice to have full access to all functions same desktop etc... to be able to easily go in and
fix it. all three logons are for myself with administrative privileges.

may sound crazy but sounds like it would be the easiest way to prevent
myself from being locked out.

example: in the past I've typed in my password and even chose no admin password
and have had logon rejected or hidden.

is this a stupid idea or possible?
thanks

IMO, the REAL solution for you is to use a password removal tool whenever you encounter this situation. There are several. All they do is clear the password(s) for the accounts. So whenever you can't remember your password, just clear it with the password removal tool. I use Ultimate Boot CD which has one.

Best,

Hi. There's something very basic about "sharing" that I'm misunderstanding.

Does the term "sharing" mean sharing with other computers on the network?

If so, then how do you share folders with another user on the same computer? Here's an example: Each of my sons has a Standard user account on the same computer. So 'A' can't access 'B's files, and 'B' can't access 'A's files. They want to be able to share certain folders, like pictures and music.

They could simply copy folders they want to share to the Public user folder, but that's not a practical solution. How do users on the same computer share files and folders? Is it possible to put restrictions on sharing ('B' can view some of 'A's photos, but he can't edit them, etc.)? There's got to be an easier way than fiddling with access permissions, which often ends up with unintended consequences.

Thanks for your help.

You should be able to right click a folder choose share with and use the certain people access to allow other user accounts access.

I am looking for a way to set a default homepage in Edge, that is set initially to a custom homepage when users first launch Edge, but that is not enforced and allows them to change it, and then it is not changed back. For IE11 we use a group policy preference
that is set to run one time only and that works perfectly for this in IE11.
I am aware of the Administrative template GPO setting Microsoft Edge>Configure home pages, which does work to set the homepage in a enforced manner, but this does not allow users to change it.
I see many technet and other threads from 2015 with people trying to accomplish this, but none where someone actualaly found a way to do it, there seems be a set of protected registry keys don't don't allow you to change them and have it work. It seems very
odd that Edge is the latest and greatest Microsoft browser but that it lacks so many basic management features for customization.
Now that is is 2017 is anyone aware of a way to configure this in Edge using group policy preferences, registry keys, scripts etc? Anything that can be automated for a large number of Windows 10 systems?

All I want to do is share files between users on the same PC. I've tried everything... From right clicking on the file, properties, sharing, and selecting the users I want to share the file with. After these steps the file cannot be seen by other users. I also tried duplicating these steps and got an error message stating "Windows cannot find USER NAME".

I tried putting the file in the "Public Folder" which works but the problem is that every user can see the file. This is a problem, because I only want to share this file with my wife's account.

The windows help menu says its easy to share with specific people, but im starting to loose hope.....

Please Help!

A:Cannot Share Files between users on the same PC

Have you put the files in the public folder? e.g. C:/users/public/documents/Yourfile.txt
then propotizing it to specific users.

I just bought a new HP Windows Home Premium 64bit HP PC and am migrating over (slowly) from an older XP machine. I have set up 3 user accounts, two of them standard, and would like two of the accounts (only) to share some of the same data files. For example, I use Picasa for photo storage and I would like to share one folder with pictures between me (admin account) and my wife (standard account). The third standard account (Guest) I would like to not have access to these folders. Same with our password folder (which contains just one file).
What is the best way to set up accounts and folders to accomplish this?

Hi

How can I share the apps in Windows 8 among all users of a computer?

Thanks

Bye

A:Share the apps among all users

Hi balubeto,

It is in general not possible to share the apps among different users on your pc. You'd have to install them seperately per account.

There is a 'work around'.\ ==> You could logon to the Store, at the other user accounts, with your own master account. That way you can install the same apps.

Hi,

I expected to find a question like this (and an answer) on this forum. I didn't find it, nor the answer, so I'll post the question myself. Sorry if I overlooked a similar question...

I have two user account on my computer; one for myself and my wife (this is an administrator account) and one account for the kids (which hasn't administrator rights.) I'm trying to share some files between those two accounts but the files from my account won't show up at the kids account.

I thought rightclick on the file, share with, kids account would do the trick but it doesn't. I've changed priviledges (right click, properties. under the security tab) to full but that didn't change anything either.
When I rightclick, chose share with specific persons. A window pops up that tells me I'm the owner of the files and the kids have right to read it. (which they can't because the files won't show up in their account.)

Obviously I'm doing something wrong but don't know what. Can anyone help?

I'm on windows 8.1. Both accounts are password protected; I'm unwilling to lose the passwords, also I feel that shouldn't be necessary. I don't want to user cloud services; as the files are on the same computer I feel that shouldn't be necessary as well.
All files I want to share are in the documents folder. I can't find any public folder, but I feel the sharing should be possible without it.

Help anyone?

A:How to share files between users?

One easy way to do it would be to create a folder outside of the user's documents structure, call it something like Shared Documents or whatever you prefer. As long as it's not located within the User folder hierarchy all users should have access to it.

I have a Microsoft Optical IntelliMouse Mouse.
I programmed the mouse wheel click to 'copy' and the right side button to 'paste'
(which is really handy if you cut and paste a lot like I do).

But, anytime the computer has to restart, those 2 settings are lost,
and I have to open the Microsoft Mouse application and click "OK" (and nothing else)
to those 2 settings to work again.

Is there anyway I can get those setting to stick and not be lost when the computer restarts?
thanks

A:Microsoft Mouse settings are lost when computer restarts

this sounds like you may need to reinstall the software for the mouse. Uninstall the mouse software, reboot; then reinstall the mouse software, then reboot again to fully initialize the software install. Try that and see if it resolves the issue.

I am using Compaq Presario CQ41. OS Windows 7. I am connected to other PCs via LAN. My computer name is "Compaq" and the ones that I connected to are named "NEXT" and "TESTING". I am able to access data to "NEXT", "TESTING" and vice versa which means that the LAN is working.

I want to share a certain file to "NEXT" but I want that file not to be shared by "TESTING".

I have done this thing:
right click on the file --> properties -->sharing -->advanced sharing --> permissions --> add..

There is a box that allow me to fill the object name. I try filling it with "NEXT" or "//NEXT". It said that the name can't be found. So, is there any way for me to solve this problem?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure if I should be here or software but I'll start here. My question is I want to split my data plan with users on one pc, eg 3 users on windows 7 giving them 60gb each then shuts off when it is reached? I have tried looking online but seem to only find stuff about timelimits. thanks

A:Want to share data usage with users on one pc

bitmeter - will give all sorts of alerts on the PC - but not actually shut it off and if the user closes the program , then it will not monitor - so not a great deal of use - but thought I would mention - in case you have set the users up as users and not admin
then they cannot switch off - but you will need to monitor / set limits

not found one to turn network access off yet

I have a friend with a small business with about 4 employees, each with their own pc. They save alot of digital pictures that all users need access to, he wants one place to save all these pictures so that each user can access them when they want. They are already all sharing DSL through a router and are networked together via the router. I was thinking the most economical way would be to just add another computer with a very big hard drive and just make that drive on the computer a shared drive so that all users can access it. Will there be any connection issues or any other issues for that matter by doing it this way?

A:Share hard drive with all users?

As long as you leave the shared PC on, when needed, and change the settings to share the harddrive, that would be a route to take.

I wanted to share a \Users sub-folder e.g. "\Users\itsme\stuff" with other network PC's. If I set sharing on for that sub-folder the entire \Users folder is shared. There is no problem to share non-Users sub-folders, is \Users a special case?

Win 10 Pro, installed and fully updated today.

Just got a new CPU with XP, and imported our settings/mail from our old computer to our new machine's Outlook Express program. Well, we have the XP machine set up with 2 different users, 1 for my father and 1 for myself, but we share all the email stuff in Outlook Express. I setup OE under my father's "user" name, but when I went to start/swtich user to switch to my user name, I can't see any of the previously set up email settings/mail, and it's wanting me to configure an entirely seperate account.

So, is there a way to share the Outlook Express inbox/settings/etc. over a couple of different "user" IDs? Thanks in advance!

Hello there,
I know that probably this question has been posted a lot of time, but I cannot find a working answer so I am here to ask again, don't kill me for this, it is simply not working for me

So, I have this PC with Windows 7 on it.
I have a partitions (but I've tried with a single folder and it is not working too) that I want to share over my home network but just for specified users (not Everyone). The network consists of 3 PC:

PC1 - The one with the partition I want to share
PC2 - The one that must access the partition
PC3 - It should have no access to the partition (not see it at all would be great).

So on PC1 I share the partition and set access to EVERYONE. I can access the partition with both PC2 and PC3. So the network is working but this is not what I was looking for.
So, googling, I've read that I'm not on a domain so I can't specify a user on another PC for accessing the partiton and I have to use an alternative method: on PC1 I have to create a user that has the same name and password of the user on PC2. So I did: I created a user "monkey" with password "monkey" on PC1 and on PC2. I've deleted EVERYONE and put just monkey among users that can access the partition. I log on on PC2 with monkey, I see the partition in network resources but when I try to access it says that I have no permissions to do it.
So... how to solve it???
I've passed the last 2 days trying to do it, but I can't...
Thanks in advance!

A:How to share folders or partitions with specified users

The PC1 and PC2 both need to be Windows 7 or 8 machines for this to work.

You would need to make sure that the C:>Users folder is shared out through the Sharing tab which is the default settings and all machines.

Assuming PC1 and PC2 are Windows 7 machines, you would set up a Homegroup between those two machines. Those two machines will now have exclusive access to each other files and folders while the third machine, which is not included in the Homegroup, will have no access to either of those two machines because of the Homegroup you just set up.

Setting up a Homegroup creates a virtual firewall between the Homegroup machines and the other machines which aren't included in the Homegroup. This firewall works even if sharing is enabled.

You can also share a folder with the PC3 machine by using the Homegroup "Share With" feature, selecting Everyone will allow machines which are outside the Homegroup to have access but only to that folder.

This is exactly why Homegroups was created by Microsoft in the first place, it's not just for sharing Library's like everyone's thinks.

After discovered that my C:\Users folder was shared by default, I right clicked the folder and unchecked "Share this folder" in Advanced Sharing under Share tab. I also went into Control Panel - Folder Options - View and unchecked "Use Sharing Wizard". However, as soon as the computer restarts, the C:\Users folder is back to being shared again. "Use Sharing Wizard' under Folder Options remains unchecked after reboots. I am using Windows 8 Pro. Any idea the reason the setting is not saved?

A:unable to un-share C:\Users folder

Besides unchecking the advanced sharing for the User folder you will also need to go into the Security tab and remove Everyone from the share with list.

You will want to go to local disk C, right click the User folder, choose "share with" then choose Advanced Sharing, Security tab, highlight Everyone, click edit, click the Remove tab with Everyone highlighted, the Everyone entry will be removed, you will need to hit "Continue" a bunch of times as the new security settings are applied to all User folders.

Your problem should now be fixed.
