I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Not sure what I did but I recently modified a document on our SharePoint and saved it locally. Now when I open that master document on SharePoint it opens the one I saved locally a while back and asks if I want to update the server. I've searched on various forums for a fix for this but have yet to find a solution.

How can I open these master documents on sharepoint without having it ask to update the server. I'd hate to accidentally save over the master document.

I'm using MS Office 2013, and SharePoint 2010.

Hi,

We just upgraded to Office 2013. Since the upgrade some users are unable to edit Office documents that they open through SharePoint. I can see that the documents are opened as read only. Even if they select to edit the document in SharePoint it throws up an alert saying that they don't have permissions to edit the document.

I checked all permissions and they appear to be OK. Is there any setting in Office 2013 that is maybe defaulted to read only or something?

I use SharePoint 2010 and 2013 and need Designer for both versions. 2010 has installed fine, but 2013 gets almost all the way through the install then unhelpfully just says "Microsoft SharePoint Designer encountered an error during setup" and no further details given. I'm running Office 32-bit on a 64-bit machine. The issues have been with the 32-bit version. I know that with the rest of Office being 32-bit I need to stick with that, but any ideas on how to troubleshoot the install? Thanks!

A:SharePoint Designer 2013 install issue

That's very interesting. I can certainly pass that on to the server team. I don't have Admin rights on my machine. The strange thing is the previous person who used this computer had no issues with running both versions (prior to the machine being wiped for me) which makes it all the more surprising that there'd be an issue.

hey guys I was a little confused if this was the right place 'all other applications'
So I have extremely limited experience with Sharepoint 2013.
But my boss asked me today if I could just 'check out' what possibilities we might have with sharepoint 2013.
Regarding two things.

1: We have documentation spread all over our 'older sharepoint' and 3 other purchased systems..
this documentation is everything from firewall logs, to password lists, IP lists, printer manuals, etc etc.

2: We have our own constructed Wiki, in reality we have 600 documents in a folder.
like: "How to get rid of this virus" "How to push our security out on iphones" articles to help us in the IT department.

We have an Active Directory and Exchange user setup.
So lets say you wanted to sort all this out, and have it placed in one spot.
with easy search functions, and of course the possibility to limit users as only our Admin accounts from the AD should
be allowed to view the password lists.

Not knowing anything about sharepoint 2013, could you maybe point me in a direction towards something that might be suitable?
also if you plan on suggesting alternatives, let me make it clear we don't wish this to be online, no cloud services

Hi,
I am experiencing a issue with the IE11 browser specifically when trying to select from the address book/people picker within SharePoint 2013 and it is not bringing
up the people pick box to select a user from. When I click on the address book it does nothing at all. The people picker is not working in IE, but working on my Chrome browser just fine so that made me believe it could possibly be a browser issue. I am trying
to find a fix as majority of the users at my company use IE v11, so I was researching what could possibly be causing this for this browser only and being it is a sporadic occurrence.

I have tried setting the sharepoint.com site within the 'Compatibility View Settings', and also modified the custom level security zone and cleared my cache. And
nothing is seem to be helping me resolve this issue.

Any help would be appreciated in advance!

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
We are getting an error with Adobe Reader DC when trying to open or save files to Sharepoint 2013.
An Error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 42
Char: 5
Error: Unable to get property 'empty' of undefined or null reference
Code: 0
URL: domain.com/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?diagview=FileOpen&FIledialogFilterValue=*-pdf&location=filepath
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?  Yes/No
Whatever option we press (yes/no) the error will not go away.

This happens in the open or save window that opens within Adobe Reader DC version 2015.010.20056
At this stage more than 1 Windows 8.1 Pro 64 systems are affected, and some of the same version systems are not affected.
I can confirm that the open/save window on Office products (2013 word, Outlook and Excel) work fine and are not affected, it just seems to be Adobe Reader DC.
Please let us know how we might fix this.
Thanks in advance.

One of my customer has extended windows-claims based Sp2013 web application to Internet. SO I have 2 urls - Http for intranet and https for internet
They have extended internet facing site using ADFS authentication
When a user logs in via the internet facing site, even if the windows claims identity is added in owners group, the internet facing site returns a blank screen post authentication ..
However if a claims identity is added, it works.
Is this expected behavior?
There are multiple claims created - SID, email, first name. When users try to add people, they are unable to find the windows accounts on the internet facing site. This is leading to adding duplicate accounts in the site(one -windows other claims)

Any suggestions?

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Cheers
jimbo

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

We are wanting to up-grade our current Office suite Office 2003 to either Office 2010 or Office 2013.  Our PC's are running Windows 7

I would just like to know what peoples opinions and advice is on this?

A:Up-grade from Office 2003 to Office 2010 or Office 2013

I can't speak to Office 2013, but I've done numerous upgrades to Office through 2010.  When you install the new version, you have the option to keep the old version or just replace it.  Starting with Office 2007 the familiar menu bar has been replaced with the ribbons which take a lot of getting used to for folks used to older versions.  There's a little program called UbitMenu that will add most of the menu bar functions back in the 2007 and 2010 versions that a lot of folks find helpful.  If you do opt to have two different versions installed at the same time, what happens is that when you switch from one to the other, it goes through a juggling act that takes a minute or so.  It's a bit of a pain, but if you need it, it could be a convenience.

Good luck.

Hi there

Whoever designed the base colors for Office 2013 must have been totally STONE DEAF and COLOR BLIND at the same time. I can't believe that comments weren't made before this stuff was allowed out of the door.

There's almost no possibilities to customize the backgrounds or colors and on a large monitor the base white looks really HIDEOUS -- you need a good pair of Sunglasses while working with it.

The only other choice is some type of Grey (shown in screenshot) which looks very similar to "The Fruit Company's Window colour scheme. Still looks hideous and that Blue !!!!!.

Outlook also displays the unread message titles in the most sickly blue (can't seem to change it) I've ever seen.

Before I remove this POS from my computer is there anyway to De-Uglify or customize like I had in Office 2010 with the Black background.

I don't like it opening with a prompt screen before I get the base screen (often needs another TWO keyboard strokes !! -- example for EXCEL 2013 shown) -- I should be able to open it in a Window with the menus just like like Office 2010. It means I now have to make a load of extra keyboard strokes before I actually get a workbook screen to start getting my work done.

I don't want the sign in reminders either -- I don't intend to use Cloud services etc.

Cheers
jimbo

No there isn't a way (that I know of) to change it. It was too cumbersome and hogged my Internet Speed with Cloud and whatnot; so I went back to good ol' office 2010. Maybe you should too

Full disclosure: We are a consulting that specializes in Intranets and SharePoint. But I'll give you an objective answer. $30-40k would be a pretty small investment, IF you want it to be successful long-term. We have done hundreds of implementations and speak frequently on the causes of project failure. In fact, 60% of our new proposals are actually to companies who already have SharePoint and are coming back to us for project rescue, or what we now call CPR. This is 60% of our work, so ye, the failure trend is alive and well. I say all of that to say that it doesn't have to fail, but as a rule of thumb, we put 80% of the investment (time) into what we call planning and control. We call this our 40/20/40 principle. 40% on planning, 20% on technology implemention and 40% on control of the project.

Hello everyone,
I realize the huge gap between MS Office 2016 and Sharepoint 2007 so obviously, there will be some compatibility issues. So this is more of a general question than a problem.

Does anyone know of a way that I can have MS Office 2016 work with Sharepoint 2007? I'm able to navigate through Sharepoint and everything. I'm able to open documents. However, it seems after I edit a document, I can't save it/upload it to Sharepoint, whether I have the document checked out or not.

If there really isn't a way, it's not big deal. I have a Windows 7 desktop that I currently remote into that has Office 2010 installed that works the way I need it to.

My company (day job) runs a series of Sharepoint 2007 sites, but everyone's computer still runs Office 2003. I've been getting a lot of complaints recently (since the upgrade to Sharepoint 2007) that users can't "save" documents that they have downloaded from the Sharepoint server back to the server.

I have determined that this is because they are not "Checking Out" the file before editing it.

I am running a copy of Office 2007, and I can just click on the file name, and I am prompted to "edit" or "read" the file. With Office 2003, users are not prompted for this.

Is there a way to force Office 2003 to prompt a user to choose between editing a file or just reading it when they click on the file?

I know the users can click the arrow next to the file name to check it out, and then click the file name, but with a complete roll-out of Office 2007 still at least a year away, users aren't going to want to do this.

A charity is considering upgrading its workstations to Office 2013 from Office 2007.
They have lots of files in the .docx, .xlsx, .xlsm, and .xltm formats that they would need to access on a daily basis.

- Would the upgrade cause compatability problems with working with files created under these above formats?

I have sorted the compatibility and trusted sites.  I have searched the entire internet for 2 months now and tried everything.  The problem is related to my specific laptop as I have no problem on another computer.  My laptop and Internet

We have installed Office 2013 (64bit) on 13workstations, but found out that clients require Office 2010 (32bit) for some programs that are linked.

We removed the Office 2013 (64bit) and installed Office 2010 (32bit).

Everything looks okay up until we try to do Office 2010 repair process.
We are getting the attached error screen..

I tried Wiindows Installer Cleanup utility but i couldnt find any traces of Office 2013.
Pls help..

Major

Hi majorbaluga, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Removing Office completely can be difficult. Refer to the website below. This explains how to remove Office 2013. You may have to remove office 2010 as well & then reinstall office 2010.

Are you running Windows in your VMWare installation or is your WMWare installation on your Windows machine?

It sounds like (drivers aside) there were some shared filed that may have been wiped that VMWare was using that belonged to Office 2010.

Any idea when Office 2013 will be available for download / upgrade?

Thanks!

A:Purchased Office 2010 w/ free upgrade to Office 2013

Hi there
it's in the Ms store already -- although IMO I'd stick to Office 2010 if I were you.
Anyway YMMV so here's the link (UK store) .

Microsoft Store United Kingdom Online Store - Office Suites

What you'd do to get the upgrade price I don't know but Office 2013 IS available for download. Try phoning / emailing -- actually a better option these days is to use a FAX believe it or not for this type of question. Emails tend to get lost as people have 100'000's to deal with, phone calls are diabolical --endless menu systems, loads of waiting and people on the other side of the planet who are incredibly difficult to understand.

The lowly fax machine when it chatters into life usually gets INSTANT attention these days . !!

Cheers

Hi

OS: Windows 8.1
Office Version: Professional Plus 2013

Every office application I open seems to have a classic unthemed title bar and not maximise correctly. When opening an office application a number of things happen:
The application opens behind any open windows
The application when maximised appears to be open full screen with in an invisible frame
Drop down lists within the application instantly close when clicked on

Here are few images showing what I mean:

Steps taken to try to rectify the problem:Reinstalled Office after having used Revo Uninstaller to remove any left over traces
Rolled back to a time I don't believe the problem existed, thought this may have existed from the start but never realised due to lack of use
Reinstalled Graphics Card drivers
Turned off any OS resizing options
Tried changing the OS theme back to default
Tried changing the screen resolution

I should also mention that this only affects office applications and no other applications seem to have any issues like this.

I know I can get around the issue of it being maximised, as can be seen from the screenshot. The issues with dropdown boxes etc is a pain, any help you guys can give would be appreciated

Have you tried an Office repair. This is how to do it with Windows 7, Open Control Panel, select Programs & Features, scroll down to Microsoft Office 2013 & Right Click on it & select Change & this will show a couple of Repair options to try. Windows 8 might be different as I haven't tried it.

Office 2016 Installation Routine Deleting Older Stand-alone Apps

I can't say I wasn't warned. I was part way through installing Microsoft Office 2016 on my primary workstation when I got a message that said, "Stop, you should wait to install Office 2016." The error message went on to say that if I decided to continue anyway, my copy of Microsoft Visio Standard 2013 would be removed. Since I had the original disk from when I purchased the software, I went ahead. Bad move. It turns out that when Microsoft says that Visio 2013 won't work with Office 2016, it means it won't even have the chance to work. Any attempt to reinstall the software will be thwarted. The fact that you paid for the software is beside the point. You're basically out of luck. When I went to the Microsoft community forums, which is where Microsoft handles much of its tech support, I discovered that I wasn't alone. Apparently hundreds of people who'd purchased stand-alone Microsoft Office products were affected, and they weren't happy about it.

Furthermore, the problem extended far beyond Visio. Users with Microsoft Project, Publisher, Access, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer were also affected. Likewise, Microsoft customers who purchased Office Apps that are normally part of Office suites but may have been purchased separately, such as Outlook 2013, were also affected.

I just installed a copy of Office 2013 on a Pc (actually Win7) that already had Office 2010 on it. I was having problems getting an Exchange logon working and for some reason, upgrading to 2013 fixed the problem. I am working with 32-bit in both cases.

The copy of Office 2013 is working great. It noted there was a copy of 2010 there and copied all the information from the 2010, essentially doing an upgrade.

Now I'd like to remove the copy of 2010 and I'm wondering if that will destroy 2013 as well, somehow. The only strange thing I noted is I initially went into Mail-32 in the control panel to add the exchange logon and it added it to Outlook 2010 (sure, now it works on 2010...grrrh!), so I had to go into Outlook 2010 and remove the exchange account and then add the exchange account inside of Outlook 2013, which worked just fine.

So, I'm thinking if I uninstall Office 2010, then mail-32 will auto point to the 2013 version of Outlook. And I'd just like to get the 2010 version off anyway. But not if it's going to be a problem for Office 2013.

I've looked around the Internet and didn't find anything pointing directly at this situation. If leaving 2010 out there is the simplest solution, I'm OK with that. Thanks ahead of time.

A:Will Uninstall of Office 2010 destroy Office 2013?

I have been in the situation where I bought a new pc that had a trial version of MS Office 2010 already installed. I installed a full version of MS Office 2007 and uninstalled the MS 2010 trial version later with no problems.

This was a case where I had MS Office 2007 installed on my work computer and my company had a site license that allowed you to also install a copy at home. That's why I choose the 2007 version over the 2010 version.

You didn't say what types of accounts they are, but mostly likely there isn't a way, unless there is a third-party tool or these are Exchange accounts.
