Speaker volume auto-adjustment?

Q: Speaker volume auto-adjustment?

Hi, I'm fed up forever adjusting my PC speaker volume up or down to suit whatever sound is coming out (vids, games, music etc).
I saw a youtube vid a while back where the guy said it's possible with a small app or prog or something to pre-set the volume level you want, so that all sounds automatically come out at a comfortable volume.
For example if you set '5' on a scale of 1 to 10,the prog will auto-adjust everything to come out of the speakers at level 5.
I can't find the vid again but if anybody knows what app he was talking about I'd definitely like to get it.
I'm Win XP Home

Preferred Solution: Speaker volume auto-adjustment?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Speaker volume auto-adjustment?

I've always wanted the same thing.. Can't find anything for it anywhere, it has been driving me crazy how long I have been looking.. Although I would only use it for movies, I don't ever have a volume problem with music and games.

I sing in a barbershop quartet & chorus.  We use recordings of a quartet to practice our songs.  The recordings are in stereo, with my part on one speaker and the other three parts on the other speaker, so my part is louder than the others when the speakers are balanced.  When I think I have the song learned, I use the following sequence to adjust the balance, so that my part is silenced:
Control Panel
Hardware & Sound
Speakers (default device)
Levels tab
Balance button
Drag left speaker to zero volume
I've managed to create a desktop icon for "Sound", eliminating the first two steps, but I still have to do the rest, and it's cumbersome.  Is there any way to automate more of this process?

A:Automate Speaker Balance Adjustment

If you go to the right hand end of your taskbar do you have an icon for you sound system, it may be in 'Hidden icons' ?  If you double click on this icon it should open the sound system control panel. If you have a mixer control, click on this and you may see volume sliders for left and right channels, just turn the LH channel to zero. This does depend on the sound system on your computer though, but should be quicker than going through 'Control panel'.
As a really quick and dirty solution, assuming you are using external speakers, how about just unplugging the left hand one ?

Hi there. This is my 1st post. A friend gave me this site.
I have a P3 667 that is overclocked to 910hz on an Abit
BE6-II(2) board. It has an Nvidia Riva TnT2 model 64 in it.
I recently had the 20 gig hard drive crash.
It was a Samsung 5400rpm. I had a friend replace it with a
30 Gig Western Digital Caviar 7200rpm. ( A great upgrade,
I must say). At this time I also replace my 5yr old monitor with
a new MagView 17" monitor. Much better for my RPG games,
etc. ( the better to see you with, hahaha )
Here are the issues I'm having:
1. Sometimes ( but not always), when booting up initially,
or when trying to run games like Baldur's Gate 2/
Diablo2/ or even Ms Office 2000,
my computer will start a very distinct 2 tone alarm -
waah -ahh, waah-ahh, waah-ahh. Sounds like the cops
are after me! Very Annoying !!! It does not stop until
I close out the program. It also does it if I have several
windows open online - especially if there are heavy or lots of
moving graphics. I had all these programs running b4
on my old hard drive. Any Ideas or thoughts would be very
2. I was able to install my version of Diablo 1 - however, in
the game there are menu settings, including 1 called gamma.
I am not able to adjust his at all. This game does NOT make
the alarm sound. Very Odd. Again, Any Ideas or
thoughts would be very helpful.
I'm not sure if they are graphics related, monitor,
hard drive, combination or what, but It make me crazy ?!?
And right now I'... Read more

The alarm sound could be because of excess heat, especially a problem with the overclocking. Heat could have caused the hard drive to fail as well. check and make sure that all of your fans are working properly and if so, you may want to add some.

Welcome to the sevenforums! Spoons896

Are you using onboard or an addon card? It sounds like the Windows sound mixer is all the way up. If you set WMP as the default player the volume control on that will effect the play back of wav files assigned to Windows functions.

The software for onboard or a card installed generally has a sound mixer as well if that went on good. Another place is clicking on the "sound" link in the Control Panel and highlighting the "what'u hear" item in order to click the properties button. On the next screen that comes up open the "levels" tab for a slide adjuster there.

I recently discovered a difference in the volume; the left speaker of the laptop has been functioning normally while there seems to be very low to no sound coming from the right speaker.

Any suggestions?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Audio - Right Speaker has low volume while the left speaker functions normally

Hello. You didn't mention the headphone jack, so if you have not yet done so, plug in headphones and see if the balance is okay in them. If the headphones check out okay, then most probably it's a problem related to the speakers.
The test for speakers is the ePSA audio test. It is a hardware test, which means that if the test  tones are very low in the right speaker, but normal in the left speaker, then there is hardware failure somewhere, related to the right speaker.
If both speakers sound normal during the test, then the problem is in the software. Do the usual things like re-install the audio driver, check the balance levels in the Sound properties, try different audio sources, etc.
Re-installing the audio driver resets the settings to their default configurations, so if you do it then you don't have to bother with things like volumes and balance settings, because they will be okay.(Also if the balance is okay through headphones, then it should be okay through the speakers too.)
Here is how to do a simple driver re-install:
1.    Open the Device Manager.2.    Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" category.3.    Right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".4.    Click "uninstall".5.    Do not check the box to “delete the driver software for this device”. 6.    Restart the computer. Windows will detect your device a... Read more

The auto-adjustment on an LCD monitor auto "maps" the converted analog pixels to the digital pixels as best it can, there should be a monitor button control/menu to invoke it.

Once done manually it should not return, it should store the setting.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. Does anyone know how to adjust the volume for all the songs on the ipod to +100%? instead of doing it individually for each song.

How about simply selecting all the songs on the iPod, right-clicking & selecting "Get Info", you tick the volume check box & set it to 100% & then click apply. It will set it to the all songs you had selected.

How do I stop the Auto Adjustment in Progress pop up?

Yesterday an "Auto Adjustment in Progress" pop up started flashing on my screen stating I needed to change my resolution to 1680x1050. I did that but then the Auto Adjustment in Progress started popping up without the change the resolution line. It pops up in the middle of the screen every 5-10 minutes.

I looked for an answer to this problem and tried disconnecting the monitor cables and reconnecting them. Reset the Factory Settings on my monitor but the pop up continues to be a problem. I saw a download for a PC cleaner that supposedly helped a number of people but an uncertain to try it. From what I read it appears to be a monitor problem from what I read, although I'm not sure. I have Windows 8.1 and my monitor is an HP f2015.

Can someone help me stop this pop up?

Hello xiaohui,The first thing you should try is just doing a power reset on the monitor.1. Disconnect the power from the monitor2. Disconnect the cables from the back of the monitor to the computer3. Reconnect the monitor back to the power4. Connect the monitor to the computerIf that still causes it to present the problem try resetting to factory1. Press the menu button to access the OSD (on screen display)2. Use the plus and minus keys to navigate the menus and select Factory ResetUse the monitor for a bit and see if the problem comes back.

Hi all

I have a problem with my monitor that started yesterday, after 5-6 years of no problems at all. A blue box saying 'auto adjustment' keeps popping up every 2 seconds in the middle of my screen, occasionally making it slide up and down. Eventually it goes away and everything is normal again, then 20 minutes later it pops back up.
Through asking various people I've realised it might be something to do with the buttons on the front of my monitor being stuck or broken. I've tried wiggling them about and pushing them repeatedly, but all this has resulted in so far is them getting stuck mid-way while I've been going through the options and then being stuck with a dark grey screen.
I've checked the cables and everything seems fine (as far as I can tell), so is my monitor just coming to the end of its useful life, or has something just gone wrong with it?

Any help would be appreciated, as I'm starting to see flashing blue boxes wherever I look.

I have a HP2009m desktop and I run Windows Vista. Everytime I turn on my computer I get a box that says "Auto Adjustment in Progress" that pops up during the boot up process. It just recently started doing this. I haven't done anything different on it that I don't do normally. I was just wondering why it's doing this and how to stop it without messing up anything else on my computer.

A:Auto Adjustment in progress

The message is most likely being generated by your display and not the computer. The display may be configured to use a given video format and input connector, but is getting a different video format from the computer. It then needs to readjust to work with the actual signals coming in. You may be able go into the display's on screen menus and adjust them to match what is coming out of the computer.

Right click on the speaker icon on the lower right corner of your screen (on macs you have to have a mouse because SHIFT+click doesn't = right click while in windows) and select Sounds. There you can choose one of 16 sound schemes (one is no sounds) or you can customize the sound scheme, or even create your own sounds (files must be in .wav format). Hope that helps

I set my monitor to a set brightness that I want, but I sometimes see my screen dimming and brightening on its' own, even when I'm actively using my laptop. I think 10 must have some kind of auto-brightness adjustment capability, that detects lighting conditions around me and adjusts my brightness accordingly. This is acceptable if my Android smartphones do this, since I'm always on the go and in varying indoor/lighting conditions, but I'm usually stationary when using my notebook and don't want 10 adjusting the brightness to anything other than what I explicitly set it to. Besides, there are softwares that do this far better, like f.lux. My Intel graphics driver is also installed, so maybe that could be playing a factor.

How can this aggravating, malformed "feature" be disabled?

i have R830-13D, windows 7 x64 utlimate.
the "problem" is auto change lcd backlight depends of content of screen

for example - when i set brightness level to 2 and read some newsites (white background, black text) - it's ok for me. then, i open another website with black background and yellow text - lcd backlight changing down so i have to manually change it up by Fn+F7 to level 3.
and so on - when i change tab in browser to "normal" website - white background/black text - backlight automatically going up (looks like sequentially growing up by 3-4 little steps) and i have to decrease it back to level 2.

i can see this "issue" both for toshiba display driver (download on support page) and for intel display driver.

how can i disable this feature? any idea?

First easy question : I have a Braven Balance B/T speaker, when I connected it (Which took like 15 minutes ??) it gets labeled as a headset. It's a speaker!

Then the volume is very low, I can turn up Pandora, the main system volume and I still believe it's low. Also, I do not have the Properties > Levels > Enhancements like I have read about. Under Levels I get Balance, that's it.

Can someone who is patient help me thru this starting point and maybe we can go further. I can provide screen shots of anything necessary.

Thanks so much.

Hi: The latest W10 update messed up the audio in almost every one of my HP business desktops and notebook PC's. I had to reinstall the audio drivers to get everything to work right. Two of my PC's do not have W10 audio driver support. For my HP 350 business notebook, I had to reinstall the W8.1 IDT audio driver, which restored normalcy. For my HP dc7800 business desktop, I had to reinstall the W7 Soundmax audio driver, which restored normalcy. Your notebook does not have W10 audio drivers either. So, here are two recommendations for drivers I have... First, create a system restore point in case these drivers make a bad situation worse, and then you can revert to your current status. Then reinstall the W8.1 audio driver from your notebook's support page and restart the PC This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59654.exe If that doesn't fix the problem, try this IDT audio driver from a newer model notebook (15t-j100) that has the Beats Audio. Install and restart the PC. This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. 6.10.6491.0 Rev.     Sep 30, 2013 http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

Hi everyone,

I have only recently upgraded to Vista from XP, I'm very pleased with everything apart from this sound problem, which from what I've read is very common. I was hoping to watch movies on my new widescreen monitor, but the sound is just not loud enough with all settings on max.

The problem I'm having is that my speaker volume is very low, I'm using fairly old speakers, but these speakers were very loud on my old computer running XP.

Anyway I've installed the latest Realtek driver & it has made no difference what so ever. Every setting is set to max volume, does anyone know how I can boost the volume? Or maybe someone else has had this problem & found a solution, I'm wondering if new speakers will make any difference?

The only sure-fire solution I think of so far is installing XP, which would mean losing Vista, as I've not got a disc with it on, the computer came with it loaded already.

Please help! :|

Any batteries involved in your audio loop? Replace.

Any volume controls on your keyboard? Try disabling keyboard audio control.

Any Windows utilities running that control audio? Running in the System Tray, and check Task Manager. Close any extra audio-related apps.

Otherwise, it could just be your speakers, or sound card amp, going out.

I'm not sure what measures you've taken in trying to natively adjust the sound (like in this video: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Adjust-the-sound-level-on-your-computer). I find that more times than not, you can usually right click the sound icon and select "open sound mixer" and adjust the sound to your liking from there.

Hi @Varadar, Thank you for posting at HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help. I understand that even you put the volume level to 100%, the sound from the speakers is still low. Is the volume low when you play a specific audio file or when you play all the audio files? You can try the steps on this link. Thanks for being a part of the HP community. Please let me know if this helps resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution". If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help. I have Parkinson's disease so I use voice recognition software.

The problem occurs when I want to edit my dictation and I want to play back my words. It seems there is a speaker buried deep in the computer. The volume on that speaker is so low as to be almost useless.

I would like either to adjust that volume or direct the audio through my normal speakers.

I'm ignorant of computer terminology so I may have viewed the settings but not recognized them.

Your guidance will certainly be appreciated.

Thank you

A:Volume on internal speaker

This probably should be in the hardware forum, but here goes.

I am guessing you do not have the speakers plugged in if you are not hearing anything through them. When you plug in the speakers it will usually stop using the internal speaker. You want to plug your speakers into a like colored port on the back of the PC coming out of your sound card. It will have lots of tiny holes in it like you would plug a headset into. If it is not the same color then it will probably show you an arrow pointing out from the center.

Using a program to restore LP's and burn to CD's. Noticed that the right speaker has little volume. checked all the cables which are ok. also burned a couple of the restored songs and played them successfully on an audio cd player - good volume on both speakers.

Have installed and uninstalled the most recent drivers for the audio card.

After all of this when Settings, Control panel, Sounds, Configure, Test is checked, sound is ok from left speaker but greatly muted from right.

Any ideas would be great.

Go to control panel, choose sounds and stuff section, choose volume on the bottom left, and put the left right sliders in the same line.
