I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Install the latest official graphic drivers, in my case I went with Intel first and AMD second. Use compatibility mode if something doesn't work normally. Make sure you have deleted every driver before you install new ones. Reboot after every installation.
First of all I know there are a load of posts asking for help in this kind of matter, but I could really use some help.

Hello. I have an Acer Aspire 3820TG laptop. I did a clean install of Windows 8. I've been installing drivers for all my components and I noticed that I can't install the ones for my graphics card. I know this is because of Acer's switchable graphics.

So I tried going on Acer's website. First problem: when I go on their website, for my laptop model there are 8 graphics card drivers. No idea why. Here are all the different drivers, highlighted are the ones I downloaded:
I downloaded them and ran it in compatibility mode. It installed an ATI installer (yes, really) which in turn said it had installed 3 ATI drivers and software on an ATI folder, but that folder is empty. Nothing shows up from ATI on the Programs and Features either except the installer, which I uninstalled since it was doing nothing.

This is the situation with the card in my device manager. It doesn't even tell me the model, just the series:
So I need help in knowing what to do. Basically I want to activate my ATI card, if possible with switchable graphics. Right now I guess I'm only using the Intel graphic processor.

As you can imagine that button hasn't appeared on my screen.

Surely here on the Acer web site there can be a definitive list by now of which systems will be compatible?

Hello guys:

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here. I have an Acer Aspire M1100 desktop computer that has a dead motherboard. I can't find the replacement for the exact motherboard as it is no longer available.

Here's a link to what's inside it. http://www.ascendtech.us/acer-aspire-m1100-rs690m03-motherboard_i_mb64ars690m038e.aspx

I'd like to find the exact one or a motherboard that will work with the processor it already has. Don't need anything special, just something that will be compatible in it's place.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks in advance!

A:Looking for an Acer Aspire M1100 Compatible Motherboard

The problem is often the case. Big box systems ie dell, hp, etc are proprietary; that is they are made to the mfg's spec and NOT industry standard spec. A standard atx mb may or may not fit correctly in the case. You have to measure the case, check standoff locations, etc.

Next issue is the os. Windows oem type license is valid only with the original hardware ie mb. The only board you can replace it with is the replacement you purchase from acer. Any other mb will require a new copy of windows.

In short if you are doing this for a learning experience, that is fine. Any other reason is just not cost effective; ie it is going to cost you way more to fix it than to just purchase a new system.

I got this laptop in 2014 and it gave me hell at the beginning, then it worked, then during the switch to w10, it gave me more hell. Fast forward to 2016, I have a proper desktop because frankly I could not rely on the laptop anymore, oddly enough it's behaved without a hitch for a while now. Anyway, I opened it up and switched out the HDD (1TB WD slim) for an SSD, and I've been thinking of switching out the 4GB ram stick for an 8GB one and maybe the WNA (AR5BWB222) for an Intel one (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 HMC Rev.2). My question is the following, can I replace the RAM for any PC12800/1600 MHz SO-DIMM DDR3L CL11 1,35v stick? or does it have to be the Acer approved ones? (which seem to be substantially more expensive).  Is there a list of compatible hardware for the laptop? I wanna give it new life, if it's possible. Anyway, thanks in advance!

It appears that particular model of ours is NOT support for Windows 8 ( and it isn't surprising considering the amount of RAM it had... ) but it is what it is. My best suggestion is to try the different video drivers for Windows Vista/7 for x86/x64 and see if any of them work fairly good for you.

I have acer Aspire 5742z with Windows 7 64 bit home. Awhile back my resolution changed from 1366 x 768 to 1200 x 768. I believe this occurred after a windows update. Well I went to play a video game, Neverwinter Nights. The resolution in the game also changed. So I began looking into my video card settings. When I ran the direct x diagnostic test, there is nothing listed. When I check device manager, and display adapters, I find Intel HD Graphics. I cannot change my resolution back to 1366 x 768, the highest I can get is 1200 x 768. Anyone think they can help me get my resolution back, I think it will cause the fps on the game to go back to normal as well.

Might be as simple as re-installing the driver. I suggest you go to Acer and download and install the most current version of the driver you can also check in device manager to see if the driver is listed and working

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Hi guys, I have a serious problem. Right now I've made the impossible for the driver to work correctly but I can't.

I am trying to install the correct Graphic Driver for an Acer Aspire 1410 to no avail.

It is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I've tried to install it:
- Via the device manager
- From a driver download directly from the Acer Website.
- From Windows Update.

I have installed/uninstalled and I've ran out of ideas. Don't know what to do.

Each time I try to do something on device manager there's the yellow triangle with the display driver. Any suggestions?

Thanks

A:Are Win7 drivers compatible with those of Win 8 ?

Maybe, if they list windows 7 drivers I would use them. I've installed Windows 7 and Windows 8 on my two desktop PC's that have ASUS motherboards and a lot of the drivers are the same for Windows 7 and 8. They will say compatible with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64 in the description and you will get the exact same download regardless of which OS you select. My new laptop came with Windows 8 but also lists Windows 7 drivers in its downloads. Before you buy just go to the support page for the one you plan to buy and see if there are Windows 7 drivers available for it. If they are dedicated Windows 8 drivers they may not install, you'll get a this OS not supported or something similar message. You could also Google that model to see if anyone tried the OS swap and ran into problems.

Ohoy!

I have a ACER Aspire 5553G, with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.

My computer automatically installs (besides the card above) a HD 4270 driver.

When I disable the 4270 driver and only use the real 5650, the screen goes nuts (Pixel-dancing and shapes everywhere) but the HDMI-out works.

However, if I disable my 5650 the screen is fine but the HDMI-out doesn't work.

I've tried to uninstall all my drivers, used driver sweeper and started out fresh, but it doesn't work.

Any dear soul out there who have a clue?

Hi! My computer is an older Asus notebook. Because of that the drivers are old too and i cant find any. Even if i use windows update utilitys and so on, for searching for drivers, it will find just a few.

But other important drivers, like audio drivers and so on, are hard to find.

I used a free trial of "Driver Whiz" but will not find any new drivers for my computer too.

Does that mean that my computer will not work properly on Win7? Does that mean that it would be better to install XP again?

Dear specialists,

I've been experiencing frequent BSOD crashes on my two months old Acer ASPIRE 1810t with pre-installed Windows 7 x64. Crashes appear to occur more frequently under heavy load.

I have used WinDbg to look at my minidumps (but I am a total not experienced in debugging) and it seems to point towards memory corruption, however, I would appreciate and expert opinion. The crash dump file diagnostics are attached.

I could bring the machine back to the store (I assume it is still under warranty) but as I have done an awful lot of software configurations, I'd like to avoid that.
Thanks,

Today for no apparant reason i got the blue screen of death again and windows could not boot properly and i had to use the sytem restore feature before boot up. It appears to have worked(im here!) but why does it do this? Im fed up, 2 factory restores in 6 months is not good!

Recently I went through virus checks on here using combofix etc and it was clean, so i dont think there is anyhting nasty lurking in the system.

What is wrong with your system...today, right now?

Reference to your malware topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic467116.html/page__p__2826015__fromsearch__1#entry2826015 .

FWIW: The fact that your system was clean...IMO, means nothing, since you restored to factory defaults previously...which would have erased most malware present on the system. I say "most" since there are some forms of malware (such as the mentioned possible router infection) that are not affected by a restore to factory defaults.

You should be able to roll back the driver to the previous driver by right clicking on Computer and going to Manage. When there, go to Device Manager and highlight the Nvidia component, which should be the display adapter. Right click and click on properties. You should be able to roll it back from here.

I called to see if they were having probelms and inform re email & turned out they were havng reconnect disconnect issues and other annoying problems, inlcuding occasional boot issues which I thought could have been indication of malware infection so I suggested they backup their files and then download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and do a scan in Safe mode and send me the results ..

The next day I called and discovered they were unable to do that as by this point they cld not even get online .. They were going to scan with Norton 360 .. So I sugg they do this in Safe mode ..What I did not say is HOW to get into safe mode aargh I feel so stupid ( and that has made their problem worse) .. Hi,only joined a week ago,not really into computers that much, but being a bit silly, got one second hand,it does work, but I have had a few problems, the windows update didn't work, but went onto Microsoft site and sorted that, there were a few other things that needed to be looked at,but the main thing that's come upis,i wanted to get windows live up&working because I use Gmail, and for some reson when I logged on it came up page not found most of the time, however the windows live will not or cant send or receive email,no matter what is done,so I got a scan done by Microsoft & it came back with a lot of things that are not up to date,or not set right, the list is fairly long.

So in my mind I wonder if the best way to resolve thease and any other unkown problems would be to look at having the old 7 completely removed & a new windows 7 installed,as I don't really know what,or whatnot has been done on this laptop.
Any help/thoughts/ideas would be welcome.Dont buy second hand already learnt!!!!!

hello every1,

this is my first time posting here as i couldnt find an answer to my question anywhere on the net. actualy there are many little questions instead of a big one.

1) i recently bough an acer aspire 5745g to replace my "old" sony vaio vgn-fw41e.
now.. the acer has significantly better specs than the vaio and for some reason it feels like its a lot worse..
it takes 2-3 mins to fully load windows where the vaio only took 30 secs
it is slower at opening applications such as mozilla, msn, winLive mail and some more
and the graphics on games dont respond that well than with the vaio
what could be the cause of this? i have cleared all the items from the startup and maximized performance for nvidia graphics and still dont see any difference..

2)i was thinking about doing a clean reinstall of win7 pro ( it came with home edition) so i can maybe get rid of any acer programs i dont need. the thing is.. as with my previous laptop, i needed to install the drivers in a very specific order to get them all working properly.
i cant find that order for the aspire 5745g and even though i found the drivers on their support site i see many different drivers for the same thing. how can i know which one is for my pc?

i just feel like i got screwed .

well..there actually were only 2 relatively big questions after all.
i would really appreciate any help you could give me!

A:win7 64bit clean install on acer aspire

A clean install might be the easiest, at this point. It is probably all the software already on the laptop that is causing this problem.

If you upload a msinfo32 report for us, we can find you the drivers you may need. Chances are, though, that your devices will work fine with the default Windows drivers.

I just today bought a new PC: Acer Aspire Desktop. It cost $950 and came with "pre-installed Windows 7".

Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz - RAM: 8G DDR3 - HD: 1.5T 5400 RPM - Optical: 16X Super Multi DVD+/-R/RW -
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium - Graphics: Intel HD - HDMI, USB 2.0 - includes Acer 23" Monitor

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/-/b9001966.aspx?path=e9224bd7cf11ed8c089de70a3e6fa2eden02

Note: you can click on "Specifications" in the above link to see more about the specifications.

When I opened the box, I discovered there was no CD with drivers included. Also, there was no CD to install Windows 7.

Is the lack of a Windows CD and a Drivers CD some kind of error? I couldn't find any info regarding drivers.

I am very nervous about the concept of a "pre-installed" OS.

What do I do if the PC ever crashes? How do I get Windows re-installed?

Good Morning,

My friend was given a laptop with the hard drive removed by the previous owner. He is not comfortable with Vista and wants to use XP. So we installed XP and I found all the drivers but a few. In the device manager I have yellow alerts for the network controller, video controller (VGA compatible), video controller, and audio device on high definition audio bus (twice). I have searched all over the internet and no luck in finding the drivers. So currently there is no sound and no high def. Please if anyone has a link to the correct drivers I'd appreciate it.

I just checked the Acer website, they have Windows XP drivers for download: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
I can't link directly to the specific downloads but click through the selections to get to the correct model and O/S.

Hi all,

Looking for drivers for the x64 version of win 7 but acer.co.uk only has drivers for x86. Is there a way to find out if the vista x64 versions will be compatible? Heard that some have been modified.

Ta in advance,

A:Acer Aspire 5720 x64 drivers

Often that's precisely what you use when not seeing any updates labeled "7" on them. The two versions(Vista, 7) are close and will see most Vista(x86, x64) drivers work out well of 7.

The best way to find out how things will go is try out the Vista 64 driver updates for that model. Acer Europe - Service & Support, Drivers & Utilities, Downloads, Notebook, Aspire 5720

Hello!

I have an Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and can not find the drivers (Even from Acer Website and Windows Update) For the following:

-Sim Card Reader
-Fingerprint Reader (and software)
-Media Control (Seems to work, but the volume does not follow the pad properly)

I have been on the Phone with Acer Support due to a battery problem (the battery is not charging) and they say it's due to Windows 7, as opposed to the battery being dead (I just received my laptop back from Acer repair due to the motherboard being dead, who knows how the handled the laptop, I obtainned it back with several deep dinks which where not there when it was shipped) so maybe I need the right driver for it to.

Acer wants me to reinstall their Vista OEM - not going to happen.

Please, Help :-(

A:Acer Aspire 6920 - Many Drivers

We can safely say that it is not Windows that is preventing the battery from charging. Did Vista have the correct drivers for the hardware you mentioned? Vista drivers are also compatible with 7, in case there are no 7-exclusive drivers.

I downgraded this laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Afterward, I was unable to connect to the internet through wireless or wired connection. I attempted to download the drivers off of the Acer website and it just fails. Some of them have an incompatible with Windows version message. Is there way around this? Is it possible to download the drivers even though the computer was made for the Windows 8 system? Are there other drivers I could use?

Hi! My old laptop does not boot anymore. After showing the Windows XP and Acer logo, it goes back to rebooting and it goes on like that. And so I wasn't able to get the drivers saved in its hard disk.

I think the only solution is to reformat my laptop and so I wanted to reformat it with the new windows 7 os. But the problem is I can't find any drivers of the Acer Aspire 5610 for windows 7 and I don't have any recovery CD.

Please help me. I know my laptop is quite old but it is still running okay until this recent problem. Please tell me where can I download the drivers so I can go ahead with reformatting.

Thanks!

A:Drivers for Acer Aspire 5610

You best bet is to use the Windows Vista drivers that are made available by the Acer support site. Most of the time, Vista drivers will work just fine in Windows 7. If they don't you can try installing them in compatibility mode (Right Click Installer, Properties, Compatibility, etc)

32-BIT Vista Drivers
Chipset - Intel
Audio - Realtek
Bluetooth - Broadcom
Camera - Bison
Camera - Logitech
Camera - Suyin
Card Reader - ENE
FIR - SMSC

You may also need to find LAN drivers if your network card isn't supported by Windows 7 automatically. The ones below are for Windows XP, I highly suggest that you attempt to find Broadcom drivers that work for Vista or 7.

Broadcom Lan Drivers (v8.48.0.0)

There are no 64-BIT drivers supplied on the website.

started spinning in a search mode, and never produced any results. I then tried searching with the model number,
and it did not respond. I searched system information which showed me as the registered owner, warranty date, and warranty ending date. I am baffled that it will not help me obtain the drivers I need. Your assistance would help.
