I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,
I have A question concerning the activation of PC Windows 7
Most of the office is connected with Windows 7 and have an activation key.
Most PC stay activated after being installed, However some PC deactivate shortly after the key is entered (2-3 PCs)
There is no local KMS, there has been no physical change to any material, and the key is taken directly from the MVLSC store with enough activations left
The enetered key is of type MAK
After looking in the event viewer of the machine : i fell on multiple errors :

"License Activation Scheduler (sppuinotify.dll) was not able to automatically activate.  Error code:

0xC004F074"

This solution has been tried to no avail (method 1)

Any ideas?
Thanks

I will be receiving my new hard drive tomorrow and I wish to install my Windows 7 Pro on it. I will be uninstalling Win7 from my old hard drive and returning it to NewEgg.

Do I need to do anything to to Win 7 & Office prior to uninstalling so I won't have any issues with reusing the same keys on the new HD?

I didn't when I got my new hard drive. Since its the same computer with the same mother board worst case scenario I see is you having to activate by phone.

Hi all, I've had a problem with Windows since early this morning. As the title states, it would seem that my Windows 8 Pro (64 bit) with Media Center has deactivated itself. It was working fine yesterday, but this morning I started my laptop to find that Windows was asking me to activate it. Strange, considering I've had it activated for around 10 months without any problems. I've tried the slui.exe 3 and 4 'fix' posted on the official Microsoft forum, with no results. Windows doesn't seem to be able to detect that I've got any product key, and when I try the code that I got from the confirmation of purchase email from microsoft, I get an error message that I am not running the correct version of windows that the code was purchased for.
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi guys,

I bought a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium LCP for OEM Software from Amazon for use with Bootcamp on my Mac. I only used it a few times and then uninstalled it.

Someone in work wants to run it on their Mac at home (different model than mine) and I said I would give him my disk. Thing is I'm not sure if he will have any problems with activation. Would any of you guys know if it will be OK?

A:Windows 7 Home Premium Deactivation Question

OEK software licenses are locked to the first computer on which they are installed and activated - and cannot be moved to another computer under any circumstances.
If you activated your install then it will be locked to your computer.
There is no such thing as 'de-activating' a Windows license, either Retail or OEM.

I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything, but this message is really urgent and needs attention! Thanks to all who can help.

While I was downloading/installing some voluntary Windows Updates, my computer automatically restarted. I went through the disk check during the startup, but when it got to the login screen, it automatically restarted. I accessed safe mode and disabled this function, and I found out that it was a bad pool header BSoD message.

This time when I tried to access safe mode, a message came up saying I have 3 more days to reactivate my windows; I tried updating through the internet (wireless connection), but that seems to have gone. I haven't gone further with this reactivation thing, 'cause it has to be some sort of mistake...my copy of windows is legit, fine, and only decided to stuff up after this chaos. =/

Furthermore, a few of my drivers seem to have stopped working or something, as I can't play music files due to my sound driver not working, or something to that effect.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this...I can access my normal, non-safe mode account, but I still get the reactivation message, and don't have my internet connection.

Should I just concede and reactivate? What should I do? I'm pretty bad at computer/technical stuff.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice!

Try System Restore to a date before you installed those voluntary updates.
I would think twice about installing those again. Possibly look into these to see if there are other experiencing issues with these same updates

Ok I've been trying to find a solution for 3 days now. I've ggogled a lot but only found the standard ways but nothing helps.

The problem at hand is this:
I'd been using Windows Search (in the explorer upper right corner and start menu) often and intensely. After a session of using CCleaner and a reboot my Search Service didn't work anymore. It even disappeared in the Service Manager (services.msc). I found that the files SearchIndexer.exe, SearchFilterHost.exe and SearchProtocolHost.exe were missing from the system32 folder and the syswow64 folder. The file SearchFolder.dll is ok and there BTW (in both folders).
I used "DLL Suite" to download these files but they seem to be incompatible with my system somehow. Since the cmd prompt "regsvr32 SearchIndexer.exe" gives me the error that i should check the compatibility of the file for a 32 or 64 bit version of regsvr32.exe.
Furthermore when I add the files manually then it appears in the Service Manager but it says "Failed to read description. Error Code: 2" and if i try to start it "failed to find the patch specified" (the event viewer displays an error with the same message).
When i activate the search service through the feature manager it works fine, configures to 30% then reboots, starts off at 35% and - at the last try up till now - it got through to 98% then immediately switches to failure configuring-revert changes and the files get deleted.

I ended up with a crippling infection on one of my two laptops. I Dban ed it and reinstalled from scratch, but it wouldn't accept the product key that came with the laptop (pre-install), so I entered the key that came with the disk which I bought (Win 8.1 home). I bought the disk for the purpose of reinstalls, and the key I used pre-install is the key being used by my other laptop. When I tried to switch keys on my other laptop, it said that key was being used by another computer. Do I have to de-activate the key or something? I have two legit keys and two laptops, how do I make this work?

A:DEactivation?

Don't use the same product key on two different computers.

Windows 8 and windows 8.1 are two different operating systems which require DIFFERENT keys. An 8 key will not work with 8.1. I would guess that the key that came with the laptop was a windows 8 key only.

This means you will need the 8.1 key that DIDN'T originally come with the laptop. It may be that Windows allows you to enter the old 8 key on the 8 operating system before you upgrade to 8.1, but I am not sure about this.

Other members may have more knowledge on key use, so hopefully someone will pop in here to give you a hand.

There never has been (and probably never will be) any way to 'de-activate' Windows.
Simply reformat and reinstall teh original OS on the current machine, and use the Upgrade on your target machine - you will probably need to use telephone activation.

Hi,
i recently bought a new laptop which came with a Windows 10 disc. My problem lies in that I formatted the ssd that held my Windows 8 on it. I was hoping to deactivate windows 8 with a view to sellng it. Am I scuppered since I no longer have it installed ? Is there any other way of deactivating ?

A:Deactivation Problem

If all you are selling is the SSD, I would just do a Nuke with Dban. But personally I would the SSD in the new laptop, since the machine will run faster and cooler, unless you got an SSD installed at sell on the new unit. I use my old SSD for when I have to do Malware fixes on computers.

Now if you are talking about old laptop that you are selling and no longer have the Windows 8 OEM restore DVD's. I would just load Windows 10 on the unit, do not activate. If you have activated that machine under your Live ID, just go into your Live account and remove it from your ID.

is this possible?

A:hotmail permanent deactivation

It is easy to shut down Hotmail. Just contact MSN.
But the notification message requires hotmail. You can use the "vacation" or "away" from the office" messaging service in hotmail to notifiy all senders.
But if you want it gone now, trouble free, send a onetime message to all correspondents in your address book, informing them of the shutdown, and whether or not they can reach you elsewhere.

Hi,

This is rather long ....

I bought a new custom build computer last August which came pre-installed with Windows Vista Business 64 bit and should have come with an upgrade voucher for Windows 7. I emailed the company the day after the computer arrived to say that I couldn't find any upgrade voucher for Windows 7. They said it was in the original WinVista DVD case (it wasn't), then they said it would be sent to me in the mail (it failed to arrive).

So I waited till after the formal release of Windows 7 and still the voucher didn't arrive. I nagged them again in December and again this month. Now they are saying that, since I can't find the voucher (!!!), the only option is for me to return the computer to them (40 mile sea journey and 300 mile road journey). They will then deactivate the existing Windows Vista Business license, install a new copy of Windows Vista Ultimate and sent it back to me with the upgrade voucher.

I have a couple of questions here:

Firstly, are the upgrade vouchers somehow 'locked into' the original Windows Vista license so it's one license/one upgrade voucher which cannot be used for any other system? This is what they are telling me. I asked them to just send me a Windows 7 disk/license and I would deal with installing it but they say they can't do that. My existing Vista has to be deactivated for some reason.

Secondly, I've got three hard drives on this computer so I'm planning to install Windows 7 on an empty drive and dual boot with the exi... Read more

Hello,About a month ago, I bought a new laptop. Prior to transferring my personal files from my removable hard drive to my new machine, I decided to the drive for viruses. Since I'm paranoid, I used four programs: Microsoft Security Essentials, MBAM, Dr. Web Cureit, & ESET's online scanner, performing the scans between 8/18/10 & 8/19/10. MSE, MBAM, Cureit, & Eset each found viruses, and quarantined or removed them. Scans following removal showed no threats, so I copied my files onto the new machine. On 9/4/10, my computer somehow got infected again. General symptoms included an inability to connect to the Internet (even though my WiFi status was "Connected"), nor could I save files to the hard drive (kept saying the drive was full, even though I have ~200 GB free space). I disconnected from the Internet & ran a scan w/ MBAM & Dr. Web Cureit, which found & removed several viruses. Subsequent scans with both of those, along with MSE & ESET's online scanner, showed nothing. After this incident, I installed full versions of MBAM & Sandboxie, and the free version of ThreatFire, and started using a non-administrator account for all my Internet surfing. I also replaced my Windows Firewall with Comodo's Firewall. Then, around 1845 hrs EST on 9/22/10, I found myself (again) unable to connect to the Internet. Even though I'd taken no action to deactivate it, Comodo's firewall somehow got turned off (the icon no longer a... Read more

Hey all,

Firstly I hope i have posted this in the right forum.

As the name states I can not use any of my windows security I know this is because of a fake anti virus i had at one point, I also can't install any other virus protection or firewalls onto my computer.

I'm assuming this has to do with what the virus has done with my computers registry, correct me if I'm wrong.

I want to restore my registry back to its default I have tried the reg restore /? command in cmd but it comes up with (see attached picture) and am not sure what this means or for the next step for me to take to continue the command.

Is there any down side to restoring my registry to its default as well?

I slowly saw how my hard drive was losing GB's over a period of time, with no-downloading other than Windows Update & Windows Defender definitions. A loss of 32 GB's is recorded during this time period as of today's date.
Question: Which option is best to recover loss of GB's over a period of time, due to Windows Updates & Windows Defender definitions? The refresh option or the reset option.

I cannot figure out how to get all of my email stores moved from my old PC (Windows Vista/Windows Mail) to my new PC (Windows 7/Outlook 2013). Is there a way to successfully do this or do I need to give up?? When trying to use the export function for messages in windows mail it comes up with an error message to say 'The export could not be performed. An error accured while initializing MAPI.' All my email accounts are POP3. I did find the email stores and transfered them manually to the new PC but I opened them on the new PC in outlook then only a small fraction of emails was there and they were all jumbled up and my folder structure did not transfer. Can this transfer be done or not? Hope to get some useful answer. Cheers, Torsten.

When I upgraded I lost use of the bluetooth service on my HP Pavillion DV7 notebook with
Intel Centrino Wireless-N o + WiMAX 6150 chip. The bluetooth driver was not working and identified as the Atheros driver. I went to the Intel site and downloaded and updated the latest Wimax 6150 driver for Windows 10 64 bit and
also updated the laptop chipset. The bluetooth driver was unchanged.
Upon further reading on the Intel site, I read that when the Wimax 6150 is using Windows 7, the bluetooth driver is Atheros, but when using Windows 8.1, or 10, it requires a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver. Fair enough, except that Intel
does not offer this particular driver!
I tried first to update the Atheros driver, but it said it was the latest one, and up to date. I then deleted the Atheros driver hoping that its replacement would be installed with the Wimax 6150 update, but nothing happened. Now,
in Device Manager, I no longer have a line for bluetooth since I deleted the Atheros driver. Can someone point me to a site that has a Wimax 6150 bluetooth driver for Windows 10- I'd like to use my bluetooth service on this laptop!

A:Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7 Lenovo Y410p. Windows install stuck.

What does "whipped hard drive" mean ?

Why are you following guides about an installation error - have you had that happen?

Not sure what the question is.
