I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a brand-new Lenovo yoga 720 which has been working ok until it decided to up date itself which took nearly an hour. All I get now is a black screen with an egg timer and the task bar flashing on and off which goes on for hours with no result. I would appreciate any help with this problem. I am able to get in safe mode and that's about it.

Hi everyone, My laptop (Lenovo Yoga 710 Ideapad 15IKB 80V5) is not able to start up. I recently had an issue with my audio, so I uninstalled the audio drivers, reset my laptop, and tried to reinstall them. When I reinstalled Realtek, it did not launch or show that it was installed on my computer (and I tried this multiple times).I then went to restore my laptop to the point before I uninstalled the driver in the first place. The restoration did not work for whatever reason, and I received the blue screen saying something about my PC not restarting properly and that it would try to fix itself. I continued to get that same blue screen for a few times, and then it gave me a different screen with varying start up/restore options. I tried almost all of them besides ones that have to do with USB restore files (which I do not have). They did not work. I then got a black screen on start up with only my cursor. I tried stickykeys, ctrl-alt-delete, windows key-volume up, and any other boot up combinations I could think of. Nothing worked and the screen never changed. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to do or how to fix it. I could really use some help and advice. Thank you very much in advance! Katherine

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. If nothing, then at least I'm raising awareness and maybe Lenovo will choose a better graphic designer for our collective startup screens. I mean, seriously? Is that the best you could come up with?

A:Yoga 720 Lenovo boot logo. Is there a way to change it? (should be the same for every new Yoga).

I do not know of any way to easily change it without hackging the BIOS, nor would I waste time trying to do so since it is just the boot logo, and I am just happy to have it boot up.

Good evening all I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 3 earlier this year in Australia and have since moved to the Cayman Islands. The Yoga has a standard 2 prong Australian charger which is 100V-240V and 50-60Hz. I have purchased 2 different international adapters which I have plugged into 2 different outlets at the hotel but my lap top does not charge.  My dad suggested that I try plugging it into the hairdryer outlet in the bathroom as it may have higher voltage and that worked. I was also able to charge it by plugging it into an open socket that comes out of a clock at the hotel (pics attached). I'll be leaving the hotel shortly and am worried that I will not be able to charge my lap top in my new home. There are limited computer/electronics stores here. I'm not a very technical person so need your help, please! The notebook is under warranty but Lenovo said there is no issue with the laptop or charger because it works in the hairdryer outlet and that they have not heard of this issue before. However, I understand that the charger is designed so that it can work with various voltages and it doesn't seem to. Does anyone have any suggested solutions? The only one I can think of is to order a US charger as I understand they are the same shape and voltage as the Cayman Islands. Many thanks in advance for your assistance! Gemma

Cayman islands use US type plugs, but I would expect an Australian charger would work with a simple plug converter.

I am very unsatisfied by my Yoga 2 13 running Windows 8.1 which has become unusable. It is less then 2 years old, and now, I get a Windows Blue Screen of Death almost every 5 minutes.I even need to use another PC to enter this post, I did not have enough time on my Yoga 2.So, almost every 5 minutes, the computer crashes with a BSOD.I completely reinitialized the PC few days ago, nothing changed. Moreover, when I reboot the PC, quite frequently, it cannot reboot the first time because it does not see the SSD (see attached picture).I thought it was the SSD. I found the Crystal Disk Info utility, and when I run it against my SSD, everything is fine, no problem. So, if someone can help me troubleshoot this, I really don't know where to start.

I have a 900-13ISK2 Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80UE Yoga laptop bought less than a year ago. It has three year onsite warranty. Since the time I bought it, the screen goes periodically berserk with ghost touches. All my open windows start getting toggled by themselves, random windows open, while some others I am working on get closed; its maddening. Complained to tech; they did some research and replaced the entire LED screen; basically one half of the laptop. Same problem. Multiple engineers have visited me and sat and did all sorts of engineering; no results. In desperation, I even went online and handed over remote access to the online tech support; same result. Now I use the Yoga after disabling touchscreen through device manager;  which kind of defeats the entire prupose of buying a Yoga. They know its a defective piece and a hardware issue; but refuse to replace. What should I do! I am at my wit's end!

I have just purchased a Lenovo Y900i and I am having an issue with connecting dual monitors on my PC.My computer has two HDMI ports and one VGA port. However, only one HDMI port actually seems to work and the VGA does not.I have test both monitors and neither monitor is faulty. When I connect the monitors to the non-working HDMI port or to the VGA; they seem to sense that they are connected to something, but obviously do not display anything. However, when I go to the display options in System, it does not detect the monitor.I have also tried going into the NVDIA Control Panel to try to detect the device, but that is not working either.I have tried changing resolution settings, but to no avail. I have checked BIOS and there seems to be nothing about display or port options that would assist me in activating any particular port.I have a feeling that the issue has something to do with adaptor settings, but alas I am not tech savvy enough to figure this one out by myself.Currently both monitors are connected to HDMI ports.Model: Lenovo Y900iOperating System: Windows 10Graphics Card: NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080

Hello there,

I have a problem. I have a dual boot computer with Xp on C: and Win2k3 on D:

As my XP is behaving very weird lately, I intend to reinstall my C: again with XP again. But if I do so, my Win2K3 on D: will fail to start. I have done this experiment on a spare machine.

Does anyone know how I can reinstall XP on my C: and yet make sure that my Win2K3 still works well on my D: ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Win2K3 unable to boot after installing WinXP as a dual boot

Yes. You need to restore the boot environment that was installed with Windows 2003 server. Its more up to date than the one that was installed with XP, and is capable of booting both, whereas the older XP one you now have can only boot XP and not 2003.

I believe you will be able to get round this:

Install XP.

Backup your boot.ini file.

Boot from your Windows 2003 CD and begin an installation.

After the text based stage, where the files are copied to the hard drive, STOP THE INSTALLATION BEFORE THE GRAPHICAL STAGE, AND DON'T FORMAT!!!! You can do this by booting from the Windows 2003 CD instead of the HDD.

Then, boot from the Windows 2003 CD into recovery console, and rename your old boot.ini file as the new one.

Basically, you are wanting the Windows 2003 installation program to write its boot environment to the HDD again, but not to reinstall the OS.

You get around this in future by installing OSes in the order they were released, from the oldest to the newest, so that the following would be installed in this order:

Windows 95
Windiws 98
Windows NT 4
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows 2003

I hope this helps. Sorry if this is a little vague but its early in the morning. Post back if you still have questions, but I've encountered this problem many times and that was how I fixed it. I don't recall fixboot or fixmbr from the recovery console helping.

So, I have been searching all over the internet for this issue where the Yoga keyboard flashes and then nothing.  I have seen lots of YouTube videos of the problem, lots of forum posts describing it.  Sometimes, someone is able to do some sequence of hitting the reset button and holding the power button for over a minute that gets it up and running again, but the majority of the time, the problem still seems to be unresolved. Has anyone had this fix performed?  How much did it cost and where did you take your machine to have it done.  Mine is just out of warranty (figures!).  Thanks for your help.(Sent from a 12-year old Toshiba laptop that just keeps on running, sitting next to an 18 year old Lenovo that is useless.)

Hello, Today morning after utilizing my laptop, all of my programs froze. I decided to shut down my computer after everything was frozen to try to reboot it, but I received the error Windows Boot Manager Failed. I tried utilizing many of the commons solutions to try to fix this problem such as changing the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy, but that did not work (also my hard drive was detected while I was in the BIOS menu).  I also tried to do a reinstallation of Windows because I thought something was wrong with the operating system, but every time I get past the Windows Logo (I put the Windows installation files onto a USB and set that as the priority when opening up the laptop), I get a blank screen after the logo finishes. This also happens when I tried to switch it back to Legacy. There I would get  a black screen. I was wondering what was wrong with the laptop? Is there any way for me to fix this? I also really need the files currently on the hard drive as they were not backed up. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Thank you. I apologize for the very blurry screenshot, I just wanted to show what screen I get after getting past the Windows Screen. I cannot get past the Lenovo Screen if I try to access the USB from the boot menu.

I'm stumped and I have no idea what to do and I need some advice and help. Thanks in advance.

we've dealt with these problems before, unfortunately this time we cannot find the onekey recovery for this particular model.  ive scoured the net and come up null.  basically the system image and recovery image is corrupted on the msata ssd.  regular recovery media will not detect the ssd nor will the bios.  the OS partition is intact and not corrupt.  ive tried rebuilding the bcd to no avail.  normally we can generally get a system image from the manufacturer and backup files and reinstall via image, but Lenovo refuses to issue a recovery as the warranty expired on Jan 1st 2016.  So basically the customer is out a pricey computer because lenovo will not provide a recovery, even with serial and proof of purchase.  Traditional reinstall will not work either as it needs to be flashed via an image.  i find it to be ridiculous as the customer has no recourse to correct the issue.  i have verified the ssd is functioning correctly via an external adapter that I use to work with msata/m.2/mpcie etc.  Im at a loss here on what to do as Lenovo is zero help.  Does anyone here have the recovery for the yoga 2 pro please and thank you.

Hi recently my yoga running Windows 10 has failed to boot. If I press the power button it will spin with the Lenovo icon for a while then BSOD with the Driver State Power Failure Error, and restart. When it attemps to run automatic repair it never gets pass the preparing automatic repair screen before BSODing with the same error. When I try using the nova button it directly goes to attempting automatic repair and BSODs, bypassing the nova menu. I made a usb drive with windows 10 but I'm unable to get the machine to show a boot menu or neverless boot from the flash drive. Any suggestions on how to complete a boot or to boot from the flash drive?

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi, I have a new ThinkPad X1 Yoga running Windows 10. I had created a recovery USB from within Windows and later used the USB drive to perform a clean reinstall. The repair process seemed to complete and asked for permission to clear the TPM keys. I granted that permission, and the system restarted. However, the boot process never completed and hasn't since. When the system is started now, it hangs at the splash screen with the Lenovo logo. Entering the boot menu and selecting a specific device results in a blank screen (the display is on, but no content is displayed). It doesn't matter which device is chosen - I've tried multiple bootable USBs, the installed hard drive, and a USB optical drive. The BIOS setup is accessible, though none of the changes I've tried have fixed the problem. Switching to Diagnostic Boot from Quick Boot briefly flashes a message that states "ThinkVantage Active Protection sensor diagnostics start," but nothing else is displayed. I've also tried clearing the CMOS using the reset switch on the back, but this did not resolve the issue. Any thoughts as to what the problem is or how to resolve it? Thanks in advance.

It's a boot selection problem nothing else
