Yoga 910 - Tent Mode and Tablet Issues - No AutoRotation & Keyboard keeps active in Tent/Tablet Mode

Q: Yoga 910 - Tent Mode and Tablet Issues - No AutoRotation & Keyboard keeps active in Tent/Tablet Mode

Hi all, I've noticed that my Yoga 910 is not auto rotatingwhen I set it to tent mode nor to tablet mode. Not only it doesn't auto rotate but it also keep the keyboard active... Not sure if this is a faulty sensor problem or just some bug. I've tried to follow the solutions presented in other topics but without success even tried a system restore but the problem is still here. I can't really identify which update has created this situtation but I know that when a couple of months ago it was still working. I also have the impression that more are affected, so could Lenovo release a patch to troubleshoot and solve such an important issue for a Yoga product (basically there is no Yoga functionality with this problem). Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A few weeks ago (after some updates) I noticed my Yoga does not automatically disable the keyboard and mouse when swithced to tent or tablet mode.  ------------------------Things I have tried:------------------------ 1. Deleteing every single Lenovo utility and driver that could be related to this and reinstalling them. (Starting with Lenovo Yoga Control which should be the driver that runs the transitions, but also BIOS, chipstet and the standard lenovo settings and utilities). In any case, YMC.exe was and is still running in task manager, to no avail. 2. Installing previous verions of Lenovo Harmony (which actually recognizes when my device goes into tent or tablet mode and gives me the popup saying "your device is now in tent mode" but does not disable the keyboard or mouse). 3. Doing a system restore to a few months ago, but problem persists.  4. Checking if my Sensor Monitoring Service was running (it is running).  I am pretty irritated at this point and fresh out of ideas. Any help pretty please

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.  I'm a new owner of an X1 Yoga 3rd Gen.  Simple question: how do you revive it from sleep in tent/tablet mode?  In those modes the keyboard is deactivated.  When the screen turns off after inactivity the only way I can get it back on again is by folding the computer back into laptop mode.  Touching the screen, the touchpad, or pressing the power button does nothing. I've looked for an answer online, and it seems like there might not be another way to revive the laptop other than that, which seems silly.  Is the only workaround to install an app that prevents the screen from turning off?

Wondering if the X1 Extreme folds over into tent or tablet mode. The photos I see of it show only it opening up flat. I don't think it folds over into tent mode or tablet mode like a Yoga. Which leads me another question. The 4K screen is touch enabled and I see a photo with a lenovo pen being used to write on the screen. Does it come with the pen or need to buy that seperately? Also, how practical is it to use the pen when the screen is upright? Seems unnatural to write on an upright surface. Is the screen sturdy? I believe it is. I've seen a yoga (don't know the model) where the screen was a bit wobbly and sensitive to moving, probably because the hinge is designed to fold into tablet mode.

Hello,
I have been using my Inspiron 13 5378 since December 2016. After working normally for few days my screen stopped auto-rotating. I sent my laptop back to Dell for repair and received it after a month in April. Very frustrating thing.
When I received the repaired laptop the auto orientation was working fine but it stopped working again after a couple of days.
I don't know what is triggering this but I have tried myriad of solutions available online including reinstalling chipset and sensor drivers, disabling and re-enabling sensors in device manager, setting sensor services to start automatically and much more.
But still, the auto-rotate feature is not working.
I don't want to send my laptop back to dell again for another month, please suggest any solution if you know it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a yoga 900 13isk, i love to set the screen in tent mode, not to watch it as a tent, but to put the keyboard face down and use it as a screen stand. The keyboard is properly disabled when i put it in tablet mode (full 360° rotation), but not in tent mode (above 270° keyboard rotation), i tried playing with ymc service but without success, is this by design? or did i mess something up? Thanks

Hi, I recently bought an used 910 and thought it was a good idea to return it to Factory Settings. As novo button was not working, I tried using the recovery image (downloaded from Lenovo support site), but it threw an error by the end of its process and Windows was unusable; for some reason lenovo support stated that I wasnt able to download the image again and point me up to download W10 directly. I proceed to download W10 directly and install it without ANY problem, later I installed all the applications/ drivers from:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ar/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/download... Now for the problems:* When I fold into tablet mode, tablet mode IS enabled... but keyboard and trackpad are still 100% active.* Accelerometer/ sensors are showing "noise" by Lenovo Diagnostics, this in turn make that when on tablet mode, to be "wacky"... like tablet mode on and off. All of this is specially odd, as prior to formatting tablet mode was working fine... I know, if it is working, do not fix it... but I thought that after buying a laptop to a stranger, it was a good thing to do. Now for the checkups:* YMC (yoga mode control) service is installed and running.* Another post stated about installing OneKey optimizer  and Harmonize, I couldnt find those for Win10.* No missing drivers found on Device Manager... but:   - Keyboard is stated as: Standard PS/2 Keyboard (is this correct?). Version: 10.0.17763.1 (microsoft... Read more

So tent mode on my X1 Yoga Gen 2 is not working.  It was working when I first received but the fingerprint reader wasn't.  I updated the fingerprint driver, and that now works, but tent mode is not.  I've trired to follow other suggestions, but there is no rotation lock in my action bar, or in my settings whichever position  I have the Yoga in - tent, tablet, whatever - no rotation lock at all. I've updated all my drivers, aplied the specific fix for this, checked the registery settings, done an in-place restore of windows 10 - everything to no avail.  The sensors work as I can see the prientation just fine from a monitoring app I downloaded.  And one more thing - the service Sensor Monitoring Service is not running.  When I try to start it it says that it started and then stopped.  Not sure if that's relevant. Help please.  I paid a fair amount extra above an X1 price to have a tent style computer, and it's just not working.

Hello!I've bought used Lenovo Yoga 2 13 few days ago. It had installed Windows 10 Home on it but since I didn't wanted to have any files from previous owner I've wiped entire drive and reinstalled it. Windows have taken care of all the drivers so I haven't any problems here, but I've never get to work any tablet capabilities of this laptop. To be accurate the keyboard locks out when laptop is in full tablet mode but you'll bend it just few degrees and you have turned on keyboard and touchpad again. Rotation doesn't work at all so I can forget about any modes between laptop mode and tablet mode. I've installed all the drivers, I've installed Yoga Mode Control but... it simply doesn't work at all. I have all the files, I have a YMC service that is "officially" working in the background but it doesn't do anything and turning it on and off makes no difference. I even installed Lenovo Vantage but that didn't help too. So after a week I've decided to downgrade this machine to Windows 8.1 since this laptop was made specifically for this system and there was also that Lenovo Transition software. And I did it. Now I have Windows 8.1. I've downloaded all the drivers and also the Lenovo Transition. But guess what... it doesn't work at all too. I've checked old version, then 2.0 version, then YMC again and all of them does not work at all. YMC actually "works" the same way as Windows 10 version. I have no idea what that could be. I've turned on auto-rotate, rotation lock button is in Aut... Read more

Hello, As said in the title, this is what actually happens: While in tent mode, the CPU never goes beyond 35% use. The fan almost never kicks in and the overall experience is slowed down a lot. I set the Processor Cooling mode to Active in the current power plan, turned off "Intelligent Cooling" in Vantage and set it to "High performance" but it didn't fix it. It didn't seem to have any effect whatsoever. When running a CPU intensive task, as soon as I turn the screen back to normal mode, the fan starts spinning and the CPU use can go back up to 100%. I like having the laptop in tent mode, with a keyboard and mouse. Is there something I missed?

Hello, I'm having trouble starting my 260. Im using the hard drive decryption and therefore need to enter password before booting. Once in a while, the keyboard refuses to work directly After a restart. backlight comes up during the first second. But at the password screen it just doesn't respond. I have to plug in an external USB keyboard to enter the key. After that it starts and Boots into Windows where the internal keyboard is working again. I am suspecting the keyboard disabeling mechanism when you put it into Yoga mode, because the error seems to happen more often when the keykeyboard is folded away. Do you have any suggestions how to resolve the issue? Im on a business trip right know and can't use the Laptop anymore due to no avaliable keyboard. Best regards Martin

So, got my Yoga yesterday. After repartitioning the hard drive (what is Lenovo thinking?) and restoring from my USB recovery disk, I have a nicely working computer. Except for one slightly annoying thing. When I flip the screen over into tablet mode the keyboard becomes disabled (perfect). When I flip the screen back over into the normal laptop position the keyboard remains disabled (ugh!!!). The only solution I have at the moment is to close the laptop and reopen it. The keyboard works again but I have to relog into Windows. Running Windows 8. Only things I did other then changing the drive partitions is remove some unwanted default software that was installed.

I have factory reset my yoga 3 pro numerous times and I can never get the keyboard to disable in tablet mode. Furthermore, the laptop should automatically switch to tablet mode when flipping the screen into tent mode, etc but it doesn't. Also, the laptop never is able to auto-rotate vertically.  I have followed the instructions on the lenovo site by keeping lenovo harmony and one key optimizer but that solution never works. Recently I have noticed that the screen brightness key doesn't work properly either. I use the dimming keys and they either make the screen the highest level of brightness or the lowest but no level in-between. I have factory reset this laptop so many times. I feel like some of the original programs that came with the computer could be interfering or Lenovo just doesn't bother to keep the software up to date...

I am having this issue with my Yoga, it used to happen rarely but now it happens more than several times a day. While I am using the tablet in laptop mode, it will suddenly give a popup asking if I want to switch to tablet mode. I select no, because, I'm using it as a laptop. But then the Yoga disables my keyboard and trackpad. I have tried turning it to tablet mode and turnign it back again. I've tried closing the screen, or flipping the screen around. I've tried going into system settings and enabling and disabling the keyboard and trackpad, but they stay disabled. My bios and drivers are up to date. I would LOVE to be able to just manually turn off this automatic disabling of the keyboard and trackpad, but that doesn't seem possible. This computer just seems really confused about what mode I'm using it in. The only solution I have presently is to completley shut off the computer, but even then, sometimes I've had to do this several times. It seems other people have had this issue but the topics get prematurely closed. I have tried other solutions presented but they don't work for me.

There are spme basic questions which need answers.
Is tent mode the only which does not rotate?  Will it rotate without a video and does it make a difference if the video is running when you rotate?
Does the keyboard disable when you open the lid more than 180 degrees?
Is there a box in the notifications area showing Rotation Lock?

The system has a Gyro sensor and an Accelerometer that should detect how you have the LCD positioned and adjust the display automatically.   Is this something that you have always noticed out of box, or something that had recently just started? Was there any changes made to the system just prior to you noticing the problem? If you have recently reinstalled windows on the system please try installing the Intel Dynamic Platform driver windows 8.1 , DPD Win 10 and chipset driver win 8.1 , chipset Win 10 Please report back here if you continue to have problems.
