AntiVirus software for my Android OS tablet?

Q: AntiVirus software for my Android OS tablet?

I read the this in a well know forum (not this one of course) "The Kindle Fire is an Android Linux-based OS. It won't need an anti-virus or anti-malware app to protect it."

Your opinion please.

Preferred Solution: AntiVirus software for my Android OS tablet?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone know if there is a program available (free if possible) similar to Quicken (Deluxe) that I could use on my Android Tablet(HP 10 Tablet G2 -2301)? Hello Guys,

I'm really conflicted here. and I can't seem to find any answers anywhere....

I don't know whether I should buy an official drawing tablet...or if I should buy this one Android tablet that I've wanted for a long time and just draw on that.

I'm thinking about the Samsung Galaxy Note . And it has some good drawing apps on it and the S pen would be nice... I just wanted to know if anyone else had experience with doing this, and if so, how do you like it?

Of course, I wouldn't use the Samsung tablet just for drawing...but I don't know if I'm willing to buy an actual drawing tablet...I don't know if I'm dedicated enough.

I heard that XP-Pen Deco Pro Drawing Tablet supports connection with Android 6.0 and above devices . Does anybody have experience with it .

Can you use files created on Win 10 in an Acer 500 tablet? I want to use an external drive

A:Android Tablet

I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you want to use your tablet as an external drive? Yes, that would work, but probably not the best method. You potentially could be shortening the life of your tablet, and they generally won't give you much space anyway.

If you want an external drive, pick one up. You can get a 500 GB very cheap now, and would give you many more times the space as a tablet.

I am considering getting an Android tablet at some point.
My primary use for such a tablet would be as an e-reader.
At first I was considering Kindle but Id never gotten around to getting one, and this was before Ipad hype.
Now when you look for e-reader/tablets its all Ipad Ipad Ipad. I effin hate Apple due bad experience with ipods.
I am not going to start flaming apple or anything, lets just say Im not getting an Ipad.
The positive about it though, at least I think, is the screen size.
Seems good for e-reading and it give the option to do other stuff with it also.
And Ive already tried to use my HTC Desire as an e-reader, not exactly a pleasant experience.
So I am looking for a tablet with the same screen size as Ipad, but powered by Android.
And I found this Android 2.1 Tablet PC
http://www.gindart.com/buy/7-google-android-21-tablet-pc-wifi-ebook-3d-game-epad-apad-p-1370.html:7 inch touch screen, wifi connection, Google Android Market, Google Android 2.1, 3D graphics acceleration / Gravity Sensor GAME, ARM 11 high processor, all these attract me. The high light of this Android tablet is 1080P Full HD video playback while Apple ipad cant do.

Should I set my sights on this tablet? or continue looking?
Hope you can help.

Kind Regards

I sent off to get a Micro SD for my tablet. It came today in good order, but I also received something I was not expecting. It looks like the Micro SD but bigger and the Micro SD fits inside of it. I'm trying to connect my Pc to my new Android Tablet. I connect the PC to the Tablet thru USB. I then turn on the Tablet. I see additional drives (2) but it says I have to put disks in them. I'm assuming the two new drives are 4 & 5. When I go to system manager it says: Android Phone. What am I doing wrong? I really thought I could see what was in the tablet and then copy files to it.

Hi Martin,

I don't think so few of the tabs that come with the mini HDMI ports as well are video out ports.

For this to be possible we would need video and audio in ports on the TAB. However, this doesn't seem to happen in near future due to lack of demand for a feature like this.

Getting a video through USB seems to be impractical task, but we don't know what would be possible in coming years. Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Hello, Bleeping Computer,
I once downloaded rkill onto my Android 4.2.2 tablet to then install onto a windows xp pc ,I successfully transferred rkill to my pc but I remember not being able to find the rkill on my tablet to delete it- I forgot about it- but now a year later, my tablet has lost its internal mount sdcard script or possible hardware failure but recently I got it running again and scanned it with Bit Defender free and the very first file it scans is 'rkill' so i wonder if it may be the rkill causing the bootloops and mount failures.
I cant find it anywhere on the tablet but i cant access its internal sdcard so it may be on that or in Data,
but I can do a factory reset in stock recovery so its probably not in data but on the internal sdcard.
Storage reader states it is /actj not mounted with 2.1gb.
Its a bit of a struggle getting it into recovery but the last time I factory resetted and it works for about 4days then bootloops, last time I managed to root it so if I could mount the internal sdcard in terminal I could delete the rkill or delete the rkill via terminal.
Other thing to note is as its an Actions Semiconductor Dual Core so it refuses to adb but terminal su's ok.
At present im trying to get it back into recovery to try again, as It seems to stall on android boot logo just before lockscreen, in fact lockscreen showed for a few seconds before it went back to android boot logo,(this is not an urgent request by any means as ive already replaced it but still,) ... Here's a problem that nobody seems to know the answer for.

I have a home wifi that works great. We have a couple notebooks and various other equipment (printers, etc) that run on it great.

My problem is with my Asus eee Pad SL101 tablet. I can connect to my wifi but can't get out to the internet. My wifi router is the isp's (Comcast) and all the other devices can get on the internet except my tablet.

I also have a android phone (LG Optimus V) that can work as a hotspot and does. I can connect my tablet to the hotspot on the phone and all works fine but a bit slower than my wifi in the house.

Both the hotspot and the wifi have security codes and both work fine, just can't get the tablet to go out on the internet.

Now the really crazy part. When I connect my tablet to the wife, I get the challenge for the password and then it connects to the router, gets and IP address from DHCP and appears to be connected. I can even go to the configuration on the router from the tablet and look at it. The icon on the table stays grey (the icon shows the strength of the signal) and would normally turn blue when connected to the internet. This I know because when I connect via my phone hotspot it does that (turns blue).

I have checked the router configuration to insure that nothing is filtered out (i.e. mac addresses, etc). When I look at what is connected on the router configuration I don't see the tablet. When I do an IP scan from my notebook I see the tablet is... Read more

Update your firmware if you are using 2.2 Froyo. Download your android firmware update and save it to your flash card in odrer to make it a bootable device. After that you will have to format your Nand drive and insert flash card, which will ask you about updating the firmware. Restart your machine and hold the start button for 30 seconds at least.

I have an Android tablet (Asus Infinity TF700) that has a share app called "MyNet". I have shared several folders on my PC (Win 7). The external PC drive (Root J: ) shows up on the tablet, as well as a shared folder. But when I open the J: drive or a folder on my tablet, only one sub-folder shows up, and then only one sub-folder of that one. Yet, windows tells me that the entire external drive is shared to everyone. I have also gone into the folders and sub-folders and shared individual sub-folders and even individual files. Windows shows that these are all shared with everyone, but still only the same few show up on my tablet.

I can share files between my tablet, my phone and a second tablet (all three share things no problem.) But no matter what I do to the sharing on the PC only the same few folders and files show up on the tablet. The ones that do show up will display OK on the tablet (Music/Video/Photos etc.)

I have McAfee Security and it controls Windows firewall, but I don't understand that if either of these were a problem, why would SOME files and folders, and the whole J: drive even show up?

Any help would be welcome.

A:Win 7 - Shared folders don't show up on Android tablet

Try disabling McAfee temporarily as well as the firewall to see if that's blocking it somehow. Personally I don't like McAfee but that's besides the point. Sounds like your tablet doesn't have the right permissions to view the files. You can allow users to view the directories but not contents. Try allowing 'everyone' to have full permissions and make sure it's not hidden. It could also be the software you're using, MyNet. McAfee could be blocking the port it's trying to use or the software itself considering Android is just Linux.

I was playing on my Asus tablet and ran into Splashtop 2 that allowed me to remotely control my Win 7 laptop from my Android tablet via Wi-Fi with a router. I had a touch pen but it wasn't a fine enough point implement, like what used to exist around 15 years ago. Working on my desktop was dodgy because of the high risk of errors, like inadvertently moving folders around and losing them in others because things "slid" on the screen.

I am thinking about getting a second hard drive in my laptop and installing Windows 8 Pro on it so I can use my Android tablet to run the Metro-UI on my laptop via Splashtop 2.

I'm looking at getting an Android tablet; but, I know nothing about the processors and how much memory is needed to make them run well.

My primary use will be internet browsing and e-mail. I may do a little word processing in something compatible with RTF. The problem I'm running into with my older Galaxy Tab 7 (I think 7) is it seems to hesitate on the newer, more-heavily-laden web pages and some YouTube videos.

So, how do I know which processors are better, faster, latest and if there are more than one type/brand, which is better and why is it considered better?

How much RAM should I consider before getting into the overkill zone?

Do the graphics processors make a big difference, or do they even have a separate graphics processor?

If I were going to add image processing, images in the 36MB size, would this even be practical for an Android tablet?

I am going to want a keyboard and will seldom use it without one so should I go for one that includes an attached keyboard or not?

As you can see, I know very little about Android tablets.

Have just purchased a generic 7" Touch Screen Android Tablet runnning Android V. 2.2.

Tablet was supplied with USB cable (USB 2 to Micro USB)

Despite having WI-Fi, there are problems connecting to this as the WI-FI router does not automatically connect to the internet as there are 2 ISPs used.

Thought of connecting my laptop running Windows XP to the internet and then sharing this connection with the Tablet via the supplied cable.

Is this possible ? I would like to start using the tablet but all the installed software needs to be authenticated or signed in so currently it is not being used.

I have seen various threads etc. on WI-FI but this seems complicated and can be another topic.
