I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: CMDS TIME/DATE not set

Boot into Setup (Bios or CMOS) and adjust the time and date Save and Exit. When you boot into Windows make sure you are in the right time zone. If your computer continues to loose time, you will need to change the CMOS battery on the motherboard. .

Greetings, and thanks in advance for your help..

Awhile back I formatted my Windows 10 PCs to show ddd dd-mmm-yyyy on my taskbar clock. This worked happily on my desktop and laptop for months, maybe even a year +

Now (probably starting in the past couple days, if not today), on one of those two PC's, this format will no longer display. It is Okay on the other PC.
What has changed that the taskbar clock space used to expand to fit the "short date" format, but now it will no longer expand - and instead just refuses to display the date at all. (NOTE: I've verified the issue by testing shorter formats -- short formats, like "ddd" show up correctly. Only if you request a longer format will the date not display - evidently because it is too long for the clock area. )

Additional Notes that may help:

* "Working" pc is running build 10586 PC with too small a clock space that won't expand -- Build 14393

*Other differences: Notification/Action center Icon is left of clock on the working PC - Right of clock on the non-working
Right- Clicking on task bar gives "properties" option on working PC -- But "Settings" option on the non-working

( I don't want to prejudice responses - but clearly the implication to me is that some recent OS update is most likely the culprit.)

Thank You

I am looking to set up a macro or formula that basically inserts the current time when a cell is filled SO:

when a2:a100 is populated with any thing then the corresponding C cell will be populated with the time.

AND

when e2:e1000 is populated wiith anything then the corresponding D Cell will be populated.

Currently I am using this macro.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A6:A100")) Is Nothing Then
With Target(1, 4)
.Value = Time
.EntireColumn.AutoFit
End With
End If
End Sub

which works great for the A and C cells

but it does not work for the other one.. how do i add and modify this so all my needs are met.
I need another 2 sets of 2 macros accross the sheet for time entry.

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

If I am in the wrong forum, please let me know.

About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).

Therefore, I can't use or edit the program.

Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.

Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.

Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine?

I am a novice user but I can follow instructions.

However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.

Or is it obvious that it's a software problem?

I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.

I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I open Event Viewer - "Admin View" to see what Errors/Warnings are there and in the column - Date and Time only the date is showing. Same goes for all the other views.
The "Time" element seems to have completely disappeared.

Any idea where its gone........... and more importantly, how to get it back?

Thanks

A:Time stamp missing from Date and Time column - Event Viewer

Problem solved - but - I don't know why.

Solution:- I changed the Date/Time format from UK to US, opened Event Viewer and it was as it should be. Date & Time showing.
I then changed format back to UK, opened Event Viewer and , as above, the Time was back up.

If anybody knows what had happened I would be most interested.

Hi,

If I choose F1 and enter the correct date/time and press F10 to save and exit - XP then starts up normally but the next time I boot up, the same problem occurs.

[If I select F2, then XP loads normally]

What can I do to fix this?

I have a 4 year old computer that runs perfectly, except when I turn it off at night and then back on the next day, I loose a few hours on the time date at bottom of screen. I ajust each time I use it but the same thing happens each time I turn it off. Could it be the clock battery or ? My operating system is Windows XP Home

A:Windows XP time/date clock looses time after shut down.

Welcome to TSG...A bad CMOS battery will cause your machine to lose time. If the system is four years old, you're eligible for that issue...also, if the system has spent any lengthy amount of time (weeks or more) unplugged from AC power, it's more likely to happen.

Next reboot (after leaving it overnight), enter BIOS (setup) and see if the time there is slipping as well.

The battery itself (if that's what's bad) is cheap to replace...less than five bucks.

Please give us some specs on the hardware-make, model, etc.-and we can help you with battery replacement instructions.

I did a search but I coudln't find an answer for this.
I a mtrying to create a simple batch file that offers a user a choice it would simply do an ECHO prompting the user to select either choice 1 or 2, if the user selects choice 1 it would process the xcopy cmd with the /D flag, if the user selects option 2 it would use the same xcopy cmd but without the d flag.

What I am trying to do is simply create a small backup method, the /D being the one that backs up the files tha thave only changed while the straight xcopy cmd would be considered a full backup.

Option 1 - xcopy c:\QUICKB~1 F:\MumBackup\QUICKB~1 /D /E
Option 2 - xcopy c:\QUICKB~1 F:\MumBackup\QUICKB~1 /E

I did some reading on how to do this ,but I am still puzzzled.

not going to code the whole batch for you, but some suggestions.
you can use set /p to get your user input. for more info on set, type set /? on your prompt.
also, for if statements, if /?. If you are on older OS, there is a choice command you can use to get user input.

Hi guys,

I'd be eternally grateful if you could help me in any way!

OS: Windows Vista
Machine: Acer Aspire 5715Z laptop

Unfortunately a family member used my machine, and since then the machine has become infected with a virus (or two...). They used Firefox, and downloaded some software that they subsequently deleted, so I can't be sure what it was.

Symptoms:

Open an IE window > extra tabs are opened with a random IP address in the address bar (all beginning 8).
Try to close IE > other IE windows are spawned.
Open Windows Explorer > Task bar disappears and Windows Explorer immediately closes

The symptoms can be temporarily relieved by disabling the processes in the Startup tab of MSConfig (named cmds and BM1fa22c55), and deleting the Registry entries at HKCU/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. The virus is creating a couple of obvious dlls in the following locations (although I know next to nothing about dlls/viruses etc.!):

Rundll32.exe "C:\Users\Emily\AppData\Local\Temp\myqxuect.dll",s
rundll32.exe C:\Users\Emily\AppData\Local\Temp\wvuSjgDW.dll,c

I cannot delete the files as I get the old "the file is open in another program". When deleted from the registry, the two main culprit dlls reappear immediately. I am new to programming and am starting with Java. It is all going ok but it is becoming time consuming typing the "cd" command to change the directory of the CMD to the locations of my Java programs every time I want to compile or execute my program as it defaults to C:\Users\Mike every time I restart CMD.

To save time, I want to be able to double-click an icon on my desktop to run a command which will change the default directory to my programming folder. I then want to click another icon on my desktop to change it back to the original.

Can somebody please give me the basic CMD code for changing the default directory (if there is one)? I will insert my directories afterwards.

I don't why, but I keep getting this warning, W32time in the system logs The time service has not been able to synchronize the system time for 49152 seconds because none of the time providers has been able to provide a usable time stamp. The system clock is unsynchronized and when you click on the link for Microsoft, they are no help at all. I could type the long winded explaination but here's what they say in a nutshell - If the W32Time 36 message appears on a computer that is not a domain controller, such as a home computer, business workstation, or member server, no user action is required. By default, these systems do not provide the time to requesting clients and should be the only computers affected by this event. After connectivity or communication with the time source is restored, the computer will resume synchronizing with its source. All Microsoft is saying is don't worry it will fix itself.

I know, I can fix this problem two ways, I could click on Time and Date and Update the server - time.windows.com or in - DOS, I could type - Net Stop W32time and Net Start W32time and this would synchronize the time and everything would be back to normal again, or you would think so, but in 3 days I would get the same warning and I would have to reset the time again. Hello and thank you in advance for reading about my headaches!

I have a Toshiba Lap Top 1135-S155 that I purchased brand new about 3 years ago. Of course it came with OEM software. XP home and I upgraded to SP2. I spent a lot of time removing all of the "fluff" and installing what I wanted. I am one of those guys that like to experiment with different software, trying to find a better mousetrap, as they say. In the last 3 years I must have installed the OEM disks about 10 times. Then I'd spend a few hours getting rid of all the fluff and loading what I wanted. I didn't really mind but it still was a pain.

Now I received my income tax money and with it I purchased Windows XP Pro. To be safe before I installed the new OS, fluf free, I used a freeware program called WinDriversBackup which is a utility for backing up your Windows system driver files and also all non-MS drivers.

The install went pretty smooth and only a few times did I need to insert the cd with the drivers on it that I had previously copied. I loaded all of the software I use on a regular basis and all is still just fine. I'm very happy I don't need to use the OEM any longer and spend hours "weeding".

There is one situation though. The clock in the tray every few days displays the wrong time and when I hover over the time, in the pop-up window it displays the wrong day and date. ???

A:Time and Date

Not sure if this will work, found it searching in Google

Use group policy

If you have a domain then create a policy in the OU that you want. If this is a stand alone machine or in a workgroup then use the local policy.

The settings are located in the same place either way. Here are the steps for the Local Policy:

Start -> Run -> MMC
File -> Add -> Group Policy -> Local Machine
Browse to the following: Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> User Rights Assignment
Click on Change System Time on the Right -> Add or Remove the Users or groups that you want to be able to change the time

Done.

Only the users or groups that are listed will be able to change the system time. If all users of the machine are administrators then remove the Administrator group and add in your account so that the time can still be changed if necessary.

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Oper..._21395867.html

Also I read you can Remove TIMEDATE.cpl from C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM will remove the ability to change the date/time

They suggested not to delete it, but move it to another source.

Hope this helps

When I start my Averatec c3500 notebook (XP), the time/date setting is the same as when it was last shut down. I rarely connect this computer to the internet so I must manually reset the time/date when I first run this computer. If this requires a new CMOS battery, where is it located & how do I access it on a notebook PC?

A:Time/date freeze

the company doesn't offer a service manual for download.

you better contact them.

A:Solved: PC time/date

definitely sounds like mobo battery
some last 6 months, some 6 years, it is just pure luck when they go. I have had cases where I changed the battery & 3 months later, it was flat, other times it lasted 5 or 6 years
