Problems with playing games only.

Q: Problems with playing games only.

So I recently purchased a new GPU in December. A GTX 1060 Windforce OC 3gb to be exact and it was working fine until recently I've had this problem where when I am playing any video game my computer completely shuts down and I have to unplug it to get it to turn back on. I'm afraid it could a faulty piece of hardware, Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Problems with playing games only.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

A:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

Whenever I launch a game (like The Witcher: Enhanced Edition) and I load a save file my screen goes black and my mouse turns off after it finishes loading (however, the computer is still on because the case lights are still on, and the monitor is still on because its light is still blinking). Sometimes on older games (Like Diablo 2) it'll happen after 10 or 20 minutes instead of instantly. Sometimes it also happens after watching youtube videos after 30 minutes or so.

What could be causing this problem?

I running on Vista Ultimate 64bit

Specs are
GTX 9800+
2.6 AMD Quad Core Processor @ 3.0.
4 Gigs Ram
600w (or 650, not exactly sure) PSU -- I've had it for about a year or so.

I run my games at 1920 by 1200.

A:Problems when playing games.

I assume that you have had the games running ok on the system before.

Have you changed any settings between the sessions??

Don't really know where to put this. I have the problem when I get into anything graphic related, altho it could be the RAM.

Anyways....

When I try to play any game, it either crashes my comp as soon as it finished loading the graphix, or like 2 minutes after.

I've tried different Drivers for my vid card (BFGtech 8800gts 640) same result with older, newest and beta drivers.

updated and rolled back my sound drivers, same thing.

Power supply is a 600W Aspire model that I've had for a bit.

I have a Thermaltake case with a bunch of fans and a Zalman heatsink on my AMD 3500+.

1gig of Corsair Value-select ram-PC3200 (a couple weeks old. blew the last gig trying to configure these ones)

I had it cleaned, and fixed up a little by the business that built it.

The only thing I haven't checked is if the ram is seated correctly, but I'm scared to do that after I foolishly blew my last gig trying that same thing.

The Screen goes black, freezes or freezes/blacks-blue screen of death splashes (too fast before my system reboots to figure out the error msg.

It's really frustrating me, anyone got any clue what's goin on?

Comp specs-
AMD 64 3500+ (venice) -(cooled by Zalman heatsink)
MSI K8N neo4 plat mobo
1 gig Corsair value-select DD400
Aspire 600w PSU
BFGtech 8800gts 640
Windows XP SP2
Thermaltake Armor tower
160gig HD

A:Problems playing games!

Fixed it!

turns out it was a number of things.

one, BF2 didn't like the drivers I had on so I completely removed any trace of display Drivers and the game worked, as well as a few others.

Turns out that some of the things were actually the game problems. like Medieval 2 crashing my comp was due to the option of AA in the game's menu, so I untoggled it and now that game runs well.

did a bunch of tests on my ram. they are great! thx for all the views, I'm glad it wasn't something major =D

I have an old emachine running XP for my 5 yr grandson to use so he didn't ruin mine.  I've noticed that when he goes to certain sites, the graphics are bad.  Like trying to watch some videos, there will be a row of thin, horizontal lines going diagonally across the entire screen.  I recently bought Crazy Machines for him to play.  I knew we were in trouble.  As the ad screens appeared, the logos would be cut in half and jump around the screen.  When he got to the actual game, the screen was a mess of jumping geometric figures and blinking objects.  I tried running Windows update to make sure everything is updated on this computer.  That didn't help.  I've tried messing with my display settings a little but nothing helped.  We have other games with simpler graphics that play just fine.  I'm not a gamer so I'm lost.

It appears that Crazy Machines installs Nvidia Pyhsx check in Add/Remove to see if its installed. If not uninstall and reinstall this game. Do you have the latest graphics drivers?

Hi,

A couple of days ago I suddenly had some problems with opening a video file in VLC. I heard sound but there was no image. I also have this problem in other media players like BS player or Windows media player. Also I'm not able to launch any game (FIFA14 or Starcraft 2). It just crashes and doesn't open the game.

I don't know if it's related in any kind but I'm also having trouble getting connected to my Wi-Fi network. It can't connect the first time I boot my laptop. I have to open the troubleshooting application that resets my network adapter before it is able to connect.

What I have tried so far:
- Reinstall VLC
- Changing video-settings in VLC. Windows GDI-output does work, also Direct2D-output works. But just having it set to automatic output mode won't work
- Reinstalled latest video drivers for my Nvidia Geforce GT650M and the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics chip
- Virusscan with AVG and a scan with MBAM

So basically I've tried some things but I'm running out of ideas... Can somebody help me?

I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bits on my Asus N56vz-s4035

Thanks!

A:Problems with playing video or games

Here are a couple of things I would try.

1.Update your network adapter drivers (Let me know if you need help doing so)
2.Check and make sure that the file you are trying to play is a. Not corrupted b. Compatible with that player

Also, have you always had problems with these games are is this a new problem

Alright, so I have this odd problem since I installed Windows 10. The problem is that for some games it takes bunch of clicks (Left Click) for it to respond. It doesn't always do it but it does it most of the time it does.It makes first-person games impossible to play. The game menu works fine though. So does everywhere else except when I'm actually playing. And I think it just does this when I play first-person games because my other games that aren't FP work fine.

I did a clean install, my drivers are up-to-date, and W10 is updated.

Please help.

Hi, I recently setup a network with my computer three computers so they can share folders and printers. I then wanted to versus my brother in a game. We turned off our firewalls and he created the game server on his computer. I could see the server from my computer but when I tried connecting I got a message saying that the computer is unreachable. I then read something it may be caused by the TCP/IP??

We are using a D-link router and we both are using Windows XP. (I am using Pro and he is using Home)

Could someone please shed some light on the situation. Thanks.

Does the game give you the option to refresh NAT in game? Do you have fixed local IP addresses on your home network?

Now when i play these games i come out of them and my res just keeps reseting endlessly until i restart. I get graphics corruption in the games too like some weird colours.

I've downloaded the lastest nvidia drivers and it still does it, i downloaded microsofts hotfix 3 for dual core processors but still does it.

Hi, i am posting on behalf of 2 friends.

When trying to play multiplayer games on miniclip.com, they are both having problems getting the game to load. They both can get all the way thrugh to the 'lobby' but when they click 'ready' to play the page freezes rather than refreshes. They have both tried updating all items that miniclip recommend. This includes java, flash, direct x, shockwave player and an igloader plugin. None of this has made any difference.

I do not know what is causing this and any help would be of greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

Ps- They are both using the latest version of IE. If any other info is required, just ask!

Do they have any firewalls installed? Since it's a multiplayer game, it may require different ports to be open on their network.

Navigate to the Mini091407-03.dmp file, and copy the contents into another post. It should detail the error so we can pinpoint what the cause is.

To open .dmp file extensions, you will need dumpchk.exe found in XP support tools: https://www.microsoft.com.nsatc.net/...displaylang=en

Hi all

I'm trying to run Red Alert 2 on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop - I can get it to install fine but it won't play video, i.e. the menus animations don't work, FMV sequences etc.

I've tried running it in XP compat mode (XP SP2 and also tried SP3) but no luck.

Is there a way to run Windows XP within Windows 7? I only have Home Premium so I can't get Microsoft's official XP Mode program and I don't want to shell out some cash for an upgrade.

Are there any free virtual PC's I can get and subsequently install Windows XP through it?

A:Problems playing old games on Win7

The VmWare player is a very good free virtual mode setup. From there you can install XP and run it as if it were the only system on your computer.
I use it often in order to recreate a users issues in different systems such as XP.

This problem started yesterday, I play alot of games from places like IWIN, and Bigfish games - the dash kinda games and ones like that, you can run them in fullscreen or window, I run them in full screen and now when I play one of them, I see the entire game window that I should see, however it is centered in the middle of my monitor and is surrounded in black - and if I play in the window mode it is the same way only in the window, so the game is always smaller. I have tried checking for a new driver for the mobility radeon 7500 that is in this laptop but have not found anything, even after searching this site for more answers.

Recently I was attempting to clean out my hard-drive (in hopes of speeding up my computer) by deleting applications I thought I used rarely that came with my computer when I bought it last summer. Unfortunately, in the process I must have deleted something important. Whereas sites like youtube used to work perfectly for me, now the videos will be visible for a moment but then suddenly disappear. I can still hear the audio but the video, and even the space reserved for it on the page, just disappear. The text displayed beneath the videos (like user comments) jump up to take the space where the video would usually play. Also, free online games, such as the one at "playfreetetris.com" are no longer visible, only audible. I have reinstalled quicktime player, flash player, and java and I bought "The Shield Firewall and Antivirus System" all to no avail. What have I done or forgotten to do!?

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

Hello sevenforums Community,
since about month im getting Bluescreens, which never happened before in 4 years.
It usually get the when i watch streams on twitch (which didnt happen since 1 week on my account though) or currently while playing League of Legends.
But they dont come every game, so i can for example play 4 games in a row and nothing happens or i get 3 one them in one game. Also they can come at any game time. It is kind of random to me how they appear.
The last two days I got about 7 so i really need help from u guys.
In the last two weeks i always got this message (STOP : 0x00007A (0xFFFF6FC50023598,0xFFFFFFFFC000000E,0x000000002A991880,0xFFFFF8A0046B30BE) ) without a sound and the pc didnt instantly reboot.
But the last days the Blackscreen stayed like 4 second so i couldnt see the error message on it, so i dont know if the error changed but there was this buzzing sound.

I really appreciate help (and sorry for my english skills ^^)

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

What is the asushwio.sys file?

Last summer I was downstairs on my pc connected to an ethernet to the router. Internet was great no problems really.. I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

I've uploaded my dump files.

I tried the forums but was unable to find anything help full in this issue so posting it now.
My secondary 80GB SG Barracuda is gone crazy. the problem is that the HDD gets undetected when its being written. If I copies anything from it or in it (any partition) it vanishes from windows and even from bios. After a couple of minutes I can re-detect it from the device manager. and its fine till I try to access it. After trying so many things I was able to copy data from 1 partition with old DOS based ghost.exe, by making image of the partition.
I'll salvage the data by using ghost but can my hard drive get repaired?
