I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My X1 all of a sudden has a black line on the screen when the brightness is higher than ~ >40%. It's the OLED touchscreen version. It looks like this:  And without a question...happens 2 months right after the warranty expires. Already contacted technical support; anyone has a similar issue? Is a screen replacement most likely the only solution?

Hi The laptop was working perfectly until i updated the intel HD graphics driver to version 23.20.16.4849 (27/10/17).  As soon as I did this, the machine would not wake from either sleep or hibernate mode when the lid was shut. When I open the lid it will either enter staright into a black screen, and I can hear the fan spinning with lights to the right hand side but no further activity. Sometimes the Lenovo log appears on the screen first and then enters into a blank screen state. I am on Bios Lenovo C6CN34WW 29/10/15 As soon as I press and hold the power button to turn off, and then turn on again the machine loads into windows perfectly, with a visible display.  Any suggestions how to fix this? Thanks

Hello out there, I wanted to do a fresh post about this issue as I see that no one has resolved it yet. My Lenovo Thinkpad 12's f1 key has an indicator light that is supposed to turn on or off depending on if it is muted or not. However, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 pro, it seems that the light has been on ever since. It could be unrelated, as this is simply when I started noticing the issue, but it's worth noting. Specs:ThinkPad Yoga 12Windows 8.1 Proi5, 128 Gb SSD, 8 GB RAM Troubleshooting already tried:Restarting the machineTurning the machine on / offInstalling Windows updatesInstalling Lenovo updates (note I did not do all of them as some were only recommended and not required and I did not want a bunch of bloat ware on my PC)Plugging in a wired headset and toggling the f1 key

A:ThinkPad Yoga 12 f1 key light always on - wont shut off

Double posting my solution here in: Download and install the Hotkeys Integration for Windows 8.1: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Hope this works for you.

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

Hello. I'm having a substandard issue with my Lenovo Yoga Laptop that I will try to explain in complete detail. First I'll summarize what's going on, then I'll list all  the details that could be related to this problem, no matter how small, in order of most likely related to least likely related. I'm an IT technician so I have some grasp of computer troubleshooting, just keep in mind. Alright, so the issue is that my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga (can't find exact model, label only days Yoga and its dated in 2013) will not boot into Windows 10 after I have done an upgrade from Windows 8.1 using Microsoft's media creation tool. More specifically, I was able to do the firat time setup and boot on once but after searching for Windows updates and restarting, the computer will not boot on. The most likely reason for this I believe is that the laptop doesn't recognize the SSD with Windows 10 on it. It can detect it in some ways but not others. In Lenovo diagnostics I'm not able to run a storage test, which is an option I know is usually there because I've troubleshooted these before, which leads me to believe it doesn't recognize it. However, boot menu and BIOS recognize the drive. Attempting to boot to it from boot menu gives a long black screen and then it takes me back to boot menu. Letting my computer boot up normally also gives a long black screen after the ThinkPad logo and the automatically goes to boot menu. The other diagnostics for Lenovo hardware all pass. So some... A:Lenovo Yoga C930: Laptop switches modes randomly, sometimes thinks it's shut and just goes black!

Problem seems to have fixed itself, but I'm still worried. It's like something is making the laptop confused. Sometimes it doesn't know if it's in tablet mode, laptop mode, or closed. There's been times where the screen just shuts off, and I need to close and open the laptop again to get it to work. In fact, it was this that caused the issue in the first place. Is there anything that might be causing this system confusion?

After reading through dreaded black screen issue for other models, I am checking if the Thinkpad Yoga also has the black screen issue. Given that this happened barely inside a month after the warranty expired, this has solid changes to be the last lenovo product in the family. Issue: I returned one home from work to wake up my sleeping Lenovo. Noticed it seemed to be in a dark screen mode with nothing showing up. So tried to press a few buttons and then finally powered off using the button. Upon restart, I could see the Lenovo sign and option to press Enter to check other options and I ignored like usual happy path scenario and let it go. At the time it usually starts showing the Windows screens, I see nothing happen. A dark screen with all the keyboard lights still working but no screen. Connected to projector to see if the login screen shows but it did NOT. Tried to restart few times, reset using the pinhole at the bottom, ran diagnositcs and tried to refresh system etc using the troubleshoot options, checked the BIOS settings - all of which show up on screen and the LCD test pass like a charm but the Windows boot does not work. Thinkpad Yoga 15 running on Windows 10 pro. 20DQ machine type. The frustarting thing is warranty just expired end of July, phone support wont even discuss the issue since it is expired. I spent good amount of days thinking about spending a lot on this laptop last year only to reach a point within one year I might have to spend few mor... Read more

Hello,  I used the Lenovo-Tool to automatically check what needs to be updated and followed the recommendations. It was a NVIDIA-Driver update for security reasons and about 10 - 15 other updates. What I noticed late was that there was also a Bios update recommended and selected. However, I tursted in Lenovos automatic update meachnism. The updates ran trough, despite the NVIDIA-Update which was marked by a red cross. Also the Bios update started and mentioned not to turn off the computer. A Dos-Box under my Windows 10 appeared and disappeared and the computer wanted to shut down - which was happening in a normal way. But now the screens were black, the computer was off. After a while, I switched it on again - the fan went on again but nothing happened.  Which means: - The screen is black all the time (as if it was broken, no text is displayed)- External screens, connected via dockingstation or HDMI are black- Computer did not display anything when connecting a bootable USB-Stick with free DOS- Interestingly, the computer is warm and the fan sometimes changes its speed. What can I do now? I assume that something went wrong with the BIOS-Update. Is there anything I can do on my own? Can this problem be fixed by Lenovo? Thank you for your replies! Best regards Nic4

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

I haven't seen any topics that seem to quite replicate the specific problem I have, so here I am.Without warning, the screen of my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e tablet-notebook will turn black. It appears to be an "active" black rather than the screen turning wholly off. The rest of the computer is working normally during these times: audio carries on, keyboard and mouse input function, and nothing else seems to shut down or turn off. Keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen input causes the screen to return to normal briefly, but the only way to make it stop happening for sure is to restart the computer. I don't think it's connected to sleep functions, given that it happens while I'm actively using the computer.I don't know exactly why this happens, but it usually happens after long periods of use. At least once it has happened within an hour or so of being turned on for the first time that day, but I had a great deal of Chrome tabs open and that may have been similarly taxing. While this problem is not exactly disastrous, it is pretty annoying and well outside the acceptable boundaries of computer behavior, especially for a device I have had for only a few months. I would greatly appreciate help in rectifying this problem.

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

I followed the instructions of the BIOS update and the battery was fully loaded and the Yoga was connected to the power. Now the screen is black and the LED in the power button is blinking green. The yoga is warm on the backside so it must be running. But I can't restart when I longpress the power button and the battery is inside so i can't put it out.I also installed some other drivers with the Lenovo update tool and maybe windows did also update.what could I do to make everything running again? Did I brick the BIOS?

I dont hear any fans running in the back ground. When I click the power button it turns off immediately, I tried to disconnect the battery and connect it again but the problem persists, I cannot access anything to try a hard rest. Hi,i have Lenovo ThinkPad T470 (LENOVO 20HD0002MC) and recently has started a strange problem:While booting at first Lenovo logo shows up (where you can get to BIOS by Enter key) and right after screen goes black. When i power down laptop and boot again (sometime few times) intead of the black screen there is a prompt for Bios password, like it should have and booting continues to OS.Enter key for BIOS doesnt work while it slill get stuck on black screen just right before it loads the BIOS (after trying few times with power -off/on it gets to BIOS and i can boot normally)I have BIOS firmware updated to the latest version, so as well drivers for hardware.Im not aware of any change that could potentionally start this issue, maybe after updating bios to some newer version.Otherwise im using Windows 10 with latest updates, but i dont think this could cause the issue as its way before windows loading. Thanks for the help.

As it says in the subject: my laptop screen keeps going dark for a second or two while in use (and plugged in). It's not going to sleep or shutting down; any music playing doesn't cut out, and when the black screen goes away I'm still logged in and my programs are all up and running as they were before the flicker. Last night while running on battery, it shut down on 18% power and wouldn't switch back on for almost an hour, even while plugged in. I don't know if that was the start of the problem; the black flicker started happening today. I think it's happened three or four times today. I only bought the computer three months ago and it's definitely not experienced any knocking around or anything.  Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

Hi Farazd5292 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

How was the display connecting it on the external monitor?
Is the display dim even on the BIOS screen?

Dim screen in BIOS with external monitor ok isolates the issue to the LCD panel lightning.
Call in technical support for hardware issue specially if the display goes out along with the Power LED.

Hope this help answer your query.
Update us how it goes.

Hello DennyLarsonThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Sounds like something may have potentially got fried perhaps.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
If these steps do not work I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line for a possible service. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!
