Hello. Message appearing saying battery power too low even after it has been fully charged. Notebook was bought in July 2015, any help is appreciated.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This morning I noticed that my Stream is no longer charging. It is plugged in and will stay on as long as it is plugged in. However, the second it is unplugged it turns off and says that the battery should be replaced. How can I fix this without having to get a new battery? Or where can I get a new battery. What battery do I need. I have no idea where to start. Please help. Thanks The Product number is K3Y84UA#ABARead other answers
The battery on my HP Stream 13 Notebook needs replacing. I have purchased the part from a website (as I can't seem to find it on the HP website) and I am wondering how I would go about replacing it? Is it as simple as removing the back of the laptop and replacing it, or will I need to take it to a technician? Many thanks.
Hi,It shouldn't be too difficult to replace the battery on your own. Here is the service manual, look on page 41 of the manual. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04501162 Let me know if you need further help, DavidItalyRead other 2 answers

Hi.Suddenly while using the notebook it shut down without a warning. I couldn't get it restarted so plugged the adapter in. It works fine then. However I do get the notification its not charging or that the powerlevel can't be displayed. When I unplug the notebook shuts down immediatly.I did the accucheck through F2 in the startscreen, it says there's no issue. I callibrated it thereafter manually, (fully charge, unplug and let the battery die, recharge to 100%). After this the notebook worked fine for about a week with the normal battery lifespan of around 5 hours. Now it has the exact same issue again. Doing the manually rebooting every week seems like a little bit of a hassle. Can anyone help me? Btw, I can't replace the accu in this notebook I believe so that's not an option.Read other answers

I bought my HP stream notebook off my sister in law about 8 months ago. It was pretty much brand new, had nothing on it, and I needed it for school. I do not download music, movies, or anything like that. I have only used it for social media, school and watching some videos. When I first got it my sister in law had forgotten her password to delete her account as an admin off of it, so I just created another account. However it's having serious issues. Firefox and edge crash constantly, it won't allow me to do a system restore, and because she was the main administrator it blocks me from making some changes. While it's turned on a lot of the icons are not visable, also the low disk space error pops up all the time. I have deleted as much stuff as I can. What is the problem and what can I do?? When I try to do a system restore it says I do not have any previous check points and won't allow me. I have a very good virus protection through my internet provider. It says there is no virus.Read other answers
I bought a 12 cell HP battery off of ebay (it is not a battery made by HP). Now this is a great battery which lasts me between 5-7 hours.
Now it does last 5-7hours, but I have issues getting the battery to power the computer on.
I first place my 6 cells battery which was made by HP and power on my computer. When the 6 cell is dead, I try to replace it with the 12 cell but the 12 cell won't power the computer on. When I place the AC adapter into my computer, it turns the laptop on. I can take the AC cable out of my computer and the 12 cells keeps the computer powered for 5-7 hours. I can shut my computer off and the 12 cell powers it back on.
The only time the 12 cell can't power my computer on is when the 6 cell is in there previously. What is wrong, and how do I fix this?
Simply don't use the 6 cell. If you really need a back-up, buy another 12 cell.
Hi, My battery status shows "0% available(plugged in, not charging)" since a few days and without AC power supply, the laptop does not switch on. Today I purchased a brand-new HP Pavilion 15-N214TX notebook. When I got home, I unboxed it, inserted the battery, plugged it into the wall, and powered it on for the very first time. I then saw this message:
HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low.
For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.
Primary (internal) Battery (601)
ENTER - Continue Startup
For more information, please visit: www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup
Windows reports, Plugged in and not charging.
I've removed and re-inserted the battery, gone into the HP Support Assistant application and ran a battery check (only for it to report that it can't find a battery!), and I've ran the pre-boot diagnostics, which also reports that there's no battery inserted. I saw somewhere that you should remove AC power before running the tests. When I pressed the power button while the laptop wasn't plugged into AC, the charging light simply blinked white three times. I could at one point get into the pre-boot diagnostics on battery power, but I still saw the message telling me that no battery was found.
This is a great laptop, it's super fast, software installs quickly, programs open quickly, it shuts down and boots quickly, but this battery issue is a huge letdown. I don't expect this kind of an issue from a brand-new ~$1100 laptop.
Perhaps, the manufactures has shipped you faulty battery. Consider placing an RMA order as it's still in warranty.Read other 3 answers

I cannot run the Windows 10 update with so little free space on the hard drive. I have a number of files that I think I can delete (Evernote and McAfee), but still not enough to download the Windows 10 update. What's the easiest way of identifying trash to delete? My laptop turns on and shows the logo for a few seconds then the screen goes blank. Ive carried out system fast tests with both extensive test and quick test and all categories passed. Please help. Thanks.
Do any lights stay on when the screen goes blank or does everything go dark? It sounds like the screen stays on when you are in the BIOS since you were able to run the diagnostics. You might try restoring Windows back if that is what is not working using the F11 system recovery option.Read other 2 answers
I attempted to contact HP is regard to the issue that I am experiencing, but cannot as my warranty expired on 6/22/16. I'm hoping someone e here can provide insight. When I turned my Stream on this afternoon, it wouldn't boot. Odd, since it was fully charged last night, so I went ahead and plugged it in. Upon doing so, I encountered a black screen stating my internal battery was nearly at capacity. What precisely does that mean? I am able to use the notebook as long as I keep it plugged in. Also, while plugged in I receive a message stating that it's connected to a power source and the battery is not charging. The moment I unplug it, it shuts down. I'm more than upset in regard to this new and unwanted development. The notebook is only 15 months old. Is there any way to salvage it or am I looking at buying a new one? I've always used HP desktops, laptops, and notebooks; now I will never purchase one again. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I want to know what kind of micro sd card is better to use for an HP Stream 13 4G? And what kind of stuff can I put on the micro sd card? My memory is almost all full because of the updates, could I put some of the stuff in the sd card?
Hi Lori, I use SanDisc Memory card for both my Laptop and Camera.. Its really good.. Compact And excellent performance.. I would suggest u to by a 64GB or 128GB Memory card for storage.. But 128gb sd cards are more than 2 or 3 times expensive than the 64gb memory cards.. 64gb would cost u around $30 but 128gb would be costing around $70 or more.. So, wat i would suggest is to buy an 1TB External Hard drive which would cost u around $50... Western Digital and Seagate are good.. I prefer WD and i own one..So u can do like this - keep a budget of $80 and purchase a 1TB WD Ext HDD and a 64 GB micro SD card.. (Product pricing may vary).. But remember this - Internal Hard disc or the External HDD, both a very delicate.. Should be handled with atmost care.. You Drop down your HDD once, thats it, its gone.. Dead.. But Memory cards are strong, can handle Drops, bumps and pressures.. And yes, i both HDD and mmc, u can store Media files (Pics, Movies and Songs), Software files (exe files only), games and other documents.. But u can not "install" Softwares or games into mmc ot ext HDD, there r chances that it wont work.. Also mmc are Compact but Ext HDD are not.. So upto u to decide.. My HP Stream Notebook PC 14 keeps shutting off, as in the screen just goes black. I can try turn it on, sometimes it turns on for a few seconds then turns off, other times it just works as normal. But now and then, I can't use it at all because it just won't turn on. Strangely, when it does turn on, the cursor usually isn't on the screen and only appears after about a minute. It's fully charged and I have the charger plugged in. It has enough memory, and I have seen problems like this where laptops have overheated, but the HP Stream Notebook PC 14 has a solid state drive, and it never feels warm. Any help?
I have resolved my issue. The problem was that the laptop casing near the area of the power button had become a little bit loose. Everytime I moved the laptop it must have activated the power button and turned if off. I had a look on the underside of the laptop, and found a screw underneath one of those rubber stickers in the corners. It turns out that it had loosened itself over time. I screwed it back in, the casing is now more tight, and the problem has stopped occuring.Read other 4 answers
I was trying to fix an HP Stream Notebook 13's (HP Stream Notebook - 13-c002tu) small HD size problem. The HD was showing a total size of 29 GB. I don't know if it was originally sold with this size of an HD - I find it highly unlikely. I tried to reset it using the HP reset via UEFI. I saw HP partitioning the drive so I assumed it would be fixed. After resetting, windows showed HD size was still the same. I took a look at the disk with Windows Disk Management, and there wasn't really any unpartitioned space. What should I do?
Hi, HP Stream is made specifically for browsing purposes only. The agent that sold you the laptop should have educated you about HP Stream Notebooks properly. As the name itself. It was made for surfing purposes only. So theres no need to FIX the computer. What you need is an upgrade. If you want to store more files or docs then get an sd card. It is listed in the overview of the computer specification Store it in the cloudGet 1 TB or 100 GB of OneDrive storage for 1 year, included with Office 365, to easily store, share and enjoy your photos, videos, and documents.2 http://www8.hp.com/ca/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=8929217#!tab=featuresCheers!Read other 4 answers

Hi, Are you able to get past BIOS/UEFI screen? After that to Windows setup screen? Please test your hard drive and memory (extensive testing) by tapping F2 key as soon as you power on laptop from System Diagnostics. Let it finish. If all tests passed proceed. It is a very economical notebook. Therefore manufacturer has cut down many standards like hard drive storage capacity, RAM, processor to name few. This makes Windows installation tough especially Recovery process as it uses more resources.I would suggest you to clean install Windows using Microsoft windows media creation tool by creating bootable installation USB.Get the exact version of Windows that came pre installed with this notebook -->Windows 8/8.1: Option 1https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.htmlWindows 10: Option 1https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-usb-flash-drive-create-install-windows-10-a.htmlDownload, save additional drivers from your HP support page.RegardsVisruthRead other 1 answers

If holding the power button down for 10 seconds does not power it off, leave the power supply disconnected until the battery fully discharges. Reconnect it and attempt to boot it, this has worked for some posters here for the Stream notebooks.Read other 2 answers
My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.
This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.
I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.
Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.

This computer is used by a class of 33 students. The Student brought me the computer with a white screen. He said all he did was boot it up. I turned it off and turned it on several times and it just gives you the white screen. I tried hitting the esc key when turning on the computer I was able to see the screen for a few seoconds and selected f2 but then it also became a white screen. So I connected it to a projector using an HDMI cable and it I was able to see it. I logged in and can do anything i need if it's connected to the projector. I've looked at the computer there are no dings or scratches, I've pressed around the screen and hinges area to see if there is something loose but it will not show the screen. So my question is what now? The warrenty expired Jan 7. Is it the screen that needs replacing or is it possibly a wire that loose inside? This is the same batch of computers that I had one computer overheat while being turned off and charging. It started burning and smoking two weeks ago from the plug that goes into the computer. I'm starting to worry that these computers cannot handle the use of students daily for four hours. I haven't hand any issues with our chromebook carts or macbooks. @Mark-J1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! This error code means one or more of the boot loader files has been corrupted. You will need access to a working PC for this step in order to create the media needed to repair your PC boot loader.Once you have that, please download and create Win10 install media from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10Note that when you go do download and build install media, the tool defaults to matching what is already installed on your PC (as in, Home for Home, 64-bit for 64-bit). While you CAN change these settings, do NOT. If you do, the resulting media will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code!Boot from the media you created, and follow the directions in this link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.htmlYou will need to go to the Advanced Options screen and click on Startup Repair. You will probably have to run Startup Repair three times for it to fix all the boot loader problems. When done, your PC should boot OK. If it does not, there is a more serious problem.Good LuckRead other 1 answers
