Q: Cooling system Lenovo C340 14IWL

Hello.I recently bought C340 14IWL I5 8265U with VGA onboard Intel Graphic 620.On the back of the device, I can see two slots to release the heat but only the right side is working. I have reviewed some documents from User Guides, Hardware Maintenance Manual and can see the cooling system with two fans.I also know some version with VGA NVIDIA and I wonder if only these versions have a cooling system with two fans? The reason that I ask this's because I often see fans run very fast and make noises. This is my first time using a laptop from Lenovo so I don't know if it's normal or not ? My previous laptop from Asus was rarely able to hear the noise from the fan.And one more thing. I bought this laptop for 20 days and use Conservation Mode. Is full charge capacity (in Lenovo Vantage/Battery) reliable ? 10 days ago I checked and found 45Wh/45Wh(Design). 3 days ago it suddenly reduced to 41/45Wh, then i turned off Conservation mode and fully charged and now it's increased to 42.9/45Wh. (With 10 Cycle count)Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently got a Lenovo ideapad c340 for school and I absolutely love it, but for some reason after it didn't recognize my finger print a single time it just decided to not work anymore (yes I reinstalled the driver and thanks to Lenovo Vantage I'm on what I think is the latest BIOS)Is there anything I can do about this or should I just wait a bit and see if there's some update I can do somewhere in the future?

Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo S340-14IWL Machine Type: 81N7. I have an SSD available with me. (SAMSUNG 2.5" 256GB SSD SATA3.0Gbps) Is it possible to install this SSD alongwith the existing 1TB HDD to my laptop and transfer the windows to the SSD without hampering the warranty. Also i need to know if I can add an 8GB RAM with the below details: Capacity:8GB Single Rank  |  Style:Crucial DDR4 CT8G4SFS824A is a 8GB single ranked DDR4 notebook module that operates at speeds up to 2400 MT/s and has a CL17 latency. It is an Unbuffered SODIMM . It conforms to the industry standard DDR4 SODIMM layout of 260 pins and is compatible with systems that take DDR4 2400MT/s SODIMM memory. Align the notch(es) on the module with the notch(es) in the slot, and then press the module down until the clips on the slot snap into place place. also please clarify whether these activities can be done by me or need to take to some service centers.

Hello,I used my laptop for a couple of days and I couldn't get to make Lenovo performance mode (pressing Fn + Q to change fan speed) to work. I've seen this thread, but I don't want to risk installing wrong software. Anyone knows how to solve it without manually going to BIOS every time, and if that software is compatible with my laptop? Edit: I forgot to mention, whole software/drivers are up-to-date, both via Lenovo Vantage and via Windows Update (System version: Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.476)

So I got a new laptop, a Lenovo s540-14IWL. Everything is great about it, other than the fact that the bezel is not glued properly to the screen at the right and left edges.I had this problem on the original one I got and also on two replacements. I decided to keep it because the price was very good and I really like it. The other options were not nearly as good and as a programmer I need to have a computer all the time. I was wondering if someone could offer some help?I got 2 options:- Live with it.- Send it to the lab under warranty as it's only about a week old (Problem is I saw their work on my cousin's laptop and it wasn't good). Can it cause any further damage to the computer if I leave it like that. To the eye it's not as bad as it looks in the picture. One important note: If I hold it with my hands it will glue back and look perfect for a few minutes (When it was new it stayed for longer) until it goes back to its' original state. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my post! Here are some pictures:When staring in front of the laptop:Right Side:Left Side:After touching it with my fingers for a few seconds:

So I bought  a new s540 without an os. Installed Windows 10, ran automatic updates, installed other drivers manually etc...When I connect the laptop to an external monitor nothing happens - trying on different monitors and cables.I thought I had a damaged product so went back to the store for a replacement. A few days later I got the replacement - same exact problem. The sales representative said it is probbly a problem with the whole line. Is that so? I just returned it to get my money back. Is it a known problem? I see that I'm not the only one having this problem. I've been a Lenovo user for most of my life and would like to remain one. Can you please suggest a fix? I'm not going to buy another s540 / ideapad model until I can find a solution.  Thanks, Samuel

Hi , I'm thinking of buying the Lenovo y50-70 , and i dont know why , but im worried about its cooling system. So anyone with the y50-70 can share some personal experience about that would be very nice. The other thing is a cooling pad for the laptop. Ive seen that the vents take air from the bottom, and im curious if I use a cooling pad , wouldnt it blow too much air in the laptop itself?

A:Lenovo Y50-70 Cooling system

My friend who has the Y50 says that it's a pretty solid cooling system. He has chrome, total war with about 5 thousand entities, a mc server, and minecraft running, for about half the day, and it gets pretty warm, but nothing unbearable. The pad would blow cool air into the air intake fans, so it would cool the device effective. The fans exhaust through the back. Hope this helped.

Hello! In 2013 I bought Lenovo C340 All-in-One with Windows 8 activated, CPU Intel Celeron. Because Win 8 was very buggy I upgraded to Win 8.1 in January 2014. After the upgrade everything was fine only the CPU usage started to be very high during browsing images-heavy sites and sites with Flash Player/animations/streaming videos and during downloading. I tried to update graphic card driver but the system said I have the latest one I need. Probably it was customized from Lenovo for this specific machine and Win 8? This June I upgraded to Win 10 hoping the high CPU usage will be resolved. But no, it is even worse because now few times PC blocked from the high CPU and should be restarted. I changed anti-vir from AVG Free to Avira Free but this was very small help. I had this question posted in Microsoft Answers, Adobe Help Forums, Ten Forums etc. I was advised to ask my manufacturer too as being unable to update the driver might be because manufacturer's changes. I suppose updating graphic driver would resolve the high CPU usage as CPU usage was alright in the original Win 8. I'm desperated as I'm online almost 24/7. I don't play online games but use some online art/drawing tools with Flash Player and also I browse many images and having my CPU frying is terrible. Thank you in advance!

The Lenovo Ideapad C340 comes in countless configurations, which differ greatly across regions, countries and retailers. Generally, almost all the models come with m2-NVMe PCIe SSDs, except some entry level models (AMD Ryzen 3 and Intel Pentium CPUs) that sometimes come with m2-SATAIII. However, even for those exact configurations, I've fount equivalents with NVMe PCIe in other countries. Where I live - Romania - I fount the C340 14API with AMD Ryzen 3, 1920x1080 TN, 4GB RAM and 125GB SATAIII ssd, which I'm seriously considering buying. It's the best for me, from the limited options that are available in my country. But one thing bugs me, and I cannot find an answer - I intend to upgrade the RAM and the SSD, and I was wondering if I could replace the SATAIII m2 with an NVMe PCIe m2? Considering that this is the only one from the C340 line that comes with SATA and I can find in other countries the exact specs with NVMe - my supposition is that the motherboard might be the same and the m2 slot might be "ambidextrous" - it could accept both SATAIII and NVMe PCIe. However, I couldn't find confirmation. Please - does anyone know this or, perhaps, has done the upgrade successfully? In the case that a NVMe drive could be used, I would certainly buy it - otherwise I think I'll go for the ASUS TP412, which has a much nicer screen. PS. I am aware that with Ryzen 3 and 4/8GB RAM - not having the NVMe drive might not be my bottleneck. I want it more for its poten... Read more

Hello, last week I bought the IdeaPad C340 (Windows 10 64bit). So far I'm happy with it. But unfortunately I'm experiencing some huge battery drain, while its turned off. From 100% to 0% in 2 days without usage (the battery even lasts longer if its only in sleep mode ...).The things I have already tried out (with no effect):- disabling Fast Start in Windows- disabling Always on USB- installing the latest drivers from Lenovo.com (including BIOS)- turning of the pc with cmd- tried complete shutdown with holding shift while turning off- changing CsEnabled in regedit to 0Maybe I did a few other things I don't remember anymore. I hope anyone can help me.If I would send the Laptop back, I have to do it in the next few days.(Sorry for my english btw.) Thank you!

I have just received my C340 and activated Lenovo Vantage which found a BIOS update which I ran. It is now running BIOS version 1.6. BUt when I go onto the Lenovo Support page and it automatically and correctly registers my C340, I am informed of a newer version of the BIOS update (2.02). I do not get it. Why is there a newer version here than the version that Lenovo Vantage finds? And what I am supposed to do in a situation like this? Do I ignore that there is a newer version - or do I actually download it and install it? I would like an answer from a Lenovo representative to this issue. Unfortunately, this is not a very good start with this new Lenovo C340 notebook. When I logged in to the support page by Lenovo and it registered the notebook automatically, it also told me that the warranty ran out in 1970. What???! So now I have put in a case for having them correct this. But this is really not a good start

A:Ideapad C340 - just updated BIOS via Lenovo Vantage but a new version available on support page

Hi BlipBlopDK,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Each machine models have different variants. Not all updates can be applicable for every variants.

With the BIOS, reading the text file first is important doing it manually. If the changes from the older version applies to specific issue you have then you may proceed but if Vantage did not assign it automatically and you do not have any issues then there may not be any need for it.

My warranty is showing incorrect dates and duration? Why is this happening ?
If you had purchased your machine from a retailer, business partner, reseller, Lenovo starts the Base Warranty at the time the shipment was purchased by the retailer, business partner, or reseller from Lenovo. To compensate for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the shelf unsold, Lenovo generally adds an additional month to the Base Warranty, Lenovo allows date to be adjusted.

Here is the article that you can follow for the steps.

About the warranty date correction, some stores would do it for you while other may not since buyer may have a different user for it aside from the fact that personal information should be kept privately.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

My cooler does not work, and I get the message:

After that the cpu gets ridiculous slow.
My laptop is a toshiba 5205-S703. I can't take the laptop to a service repair cause here in Brasil we can't trust in such services.

My cooler is not running not, I think It is damaged. I opened the laptop and lubrificate it, but it doesnt work.

I **think**, the problem can be:
- just the cooler (I will order a cooler as soon as I discover a place on the internet where I could order OEM parts);
- the cooler and the processor (as the processor is very slow It may have damaged the processor). My processor is a P4 Mobile 2.0ghz. And I dont know where to get a new processor? Anybody know?
- or the worst of all. The motherboard function which triggers the cooler was damaged. If this happened I think I lost my laptop

Can anybody help me on this? dMy mail is "[email protected]"

OEM Laptop parts?...

OEM laptopparts?... Good luck call the builder of the system and get a new one even off warrenty they will often ship the parts free if it is just a fan. I would run the lappy opened for a few seconds to see in the fan is running, DONOT think about putting one finger on the system when it is like this and don't move till you turn the system off cotton shirt and denem is a good thing to ware when doing this to reduce the static charge grab the power cable and hold it a second or two then turn the system off holding the cable, ot dispell static and the human body cannot feel static charges less then 3000 volts and at 30 you can kill parts in your computer... on some systems even less then 30 v will kill it. As far as the temp reader when you replace the fan on most laptops the reader is build into the fan so if it was the reader then that will be fixxed if the problem continues they I would E Bay the system for parts and start looking at new systems... As far as Intel build Laptops go get a Dell or a Toshiba if you want some real Power for you money gen and AMD Rig from Aser... I like their Farrie Line as they have evrything you will need in a laptop and they will handle some real crazy newer games... there is a few Asers that will handle HL2 and Doom3 not at max setting but it will run better then some towers that are playing the games... Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hello
So i bought Lenovo Legion, a close to high end gaming laptop.
So far im very happy with it, but got a question.
The Lenovo Nerve Sence software offers a special fan turbo speed which when turning on, bring the 2 fans to their top speeds for cooling while gaming. while in the same time i also got a Thermaltake cooling pad.

My question is, what should i use?
The FanBoost or the cooling pad?
The reason im asking it is that the cooling pad is bulky and pretty heavy, with the 120mm fan and the aluminum plate, not very convenient as far as using while in bed. also its sharp corners are annoying.

As far as i know, the turbo fan is designed to work with games, and its a gaming laptop, an advanced gaming laptop, so do i really need a cooling pad?

I purchased a new Ideapad S540-14IWL recently but couldn't find a way how to connect a secondary display via HDMI. I use Windows 10 Pro. So far I've tried the following:- using different monitors;- using different HDMI cables;- installing newer and older Intel VGA drivers;- going through the Windows 10 video troubleshooter;- switching off the laptop and/or the monitor and powering them in various sequences (as suggested in a few articles I found on the Internet);- tried to switch to the second display using Win+P, of course. No matter what, Windows is not able to detect a connected display (even after I manually push the 'Detect' button). The display itself finds no signal. Surprisingly, the Lenovo diagnostics utility couldn?t identify a problem after running both the Display and the Display Interface tests. The laptop is flashed with the latest BIOS. I read other Lenovo models have similar issued when AHCI mode is selected in the BIOS rather than RST. However, switching to RST comes with a warning that the controller change will result in all the data being erased, which I can't afford.  Any help on that issue will be appreciated.

I just got my laptop yesterday. I needed a good on to study! Now I have a problem: When I turn on my laptop, the fan immediatly starts to work hard. The sound is very loud and pretty high (in my opinion). I had a old pavillion 360x 11 before this one and never had this problem. This sound is so piercing that if I watch a movie, I can still hear it. When I study it makes it very hard to concentrate! Does anyone know if I can change this(with some settings or something like that) or is this a fault in the making(in the plant)? I really hope someone can help me!

I have satellite L645, I have used it for year and suddenly comes out pop up message, system warning, about cooling system. Any solution to this? It's really annoying. Pop up repeatedly for many times.

Your computer is telling you that it's hot and may need to shut down. If your computer continues to warn you that it's hot you will want to make cleaning out the dust a priority because the extra heat can break your computer.

Well it seems that over the years your laptop has collected dust in the heat sink and fan and is now overheating or beginning to overheat. You can buy a can of compressed air, and while the computer is turned off you can shoot some of that air into the intake vents to see if the accumulated dust will come out of the exhaust vents.

If your overheating condition doesn't improve, your second option would be to take your laptop apart and reuse the compressed air directly on the accumulated dust in the heat sink and fan. The second option isn't recommended for the inexperienced because you'll more than likely need a moderate level of skill to disassemble and reassemble the laptop, and you'll need to clean the processor of the old thermal paste, and reapply new thermal paste to the processor before you reattach its heat sink.

All of those steps can be a bit scary for the first timer.

Hey everybody, I was looking into getting a liquid cooling system for my rig, but I just dunno anything about the brand names in the industry. I checked reviews on products, but I never fully trust them, as reviews can be misleading sometimes.

Anyhow, something approximately $100 would be swell. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm making them do my shopping for me, but like I said, the cooling field of computers is totally alien to me. I was hoping someone could recommend me a good system, whether out of their own experience or reliable word-of-mouth. Thanks in advance!

What kind of cooling system is sufficient to at least keep a system stable? Water cooling or x amount of fans? Thanks.

I just went to a full size tower for space issues, any recommendations on a good cooling set up??

A:Cooling system

How much space? Not a full tower, but the best mid tower, Enlight 7237. optional 300W power supply, front 80MM case fan, place for a second at the back, under the power supply. 4 5.25 bays, all on rails, three 3.5, two visiable. I love it.

The PS is also set up top, out of the way, and the case is a 3 pc.

Despite diagnostics telling me otherwise I'm of the view that the heat generated by my system is wreaking havoc with a number of its components [HDs dropping and GFX cards dropping like flies..]

Initially my Abit Mobo which is still relatively young had an onboard fan but it has recently expired... also the internal power cable which connected to my case fan has given up not too long after purchase... as things stand only the CPU fan is cooling, but that's just serving the CPU...

Thus I'm looking at the components I'd need to purchase to provide adequate cooling to the system in my signature... I believe my PSU is 400W or possibly 450W so I'm wondering if I may need to purchase a new PSU too, although I would just like to note that my monitor is powered separately...

yeah you need fans, usually one blowing out the back, 80 -120mm, one in the front blowing in again 80-120mm, 1 cpu fan blowing down toward the cpu hs, 1 in the case door blowing toward the cpu if you have that kind of case, the psu usually has at least one or two built in.

To start with here is my system spec

Juno P6 Tower case with review at
http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=30007

ABIT KT7A-RAID/AMD
Thunderbird 1.2GHz unlocked but unclocked (can go to 1.4Ghz+ if I get the right cooling.
It's cooled by a Super Thermoengine V60-4225
256 pc133 Ram
TNT2 M64 Video Card + small fan unclocked
10 GIG Hard drive
6 80 ml fans

My system is new and fancy a go at overclocking and some modding. However those 6 80 mil fans are very noisy and am looking for something quieter yet just as if not more effective.

Is water cooling a good alternative. My budget is $500. Could anybody point me in the direction of some good quiet 80 mil fans , a good watercooling system or give any info on this refrigerator cooling system at this website

PLus since I'm starting out could any body tell me how to clock my T-bird .12 Ghz. Reminder it's using a Kt7A Raid mobo + Super Thermoengine

Thanks

Here is a start for you..........I've heard of fans that are now available that do not have bearings at all there is no friction because there is no contact point to create heat or wear and I belive they have them here also........
