Cooling system Lenovo C340 14IWL

Q: Cooling system Lenovo C340 14IWL

Hello.I recently bought C340 14IWL I5 8265U with VGA onboard Intel Graphic 620.On the back of the device, I can see two slots to release the heat but only the right side is working. I have reviewed some documents from User Guides, Hardware Maintenance Manual and can see the cooling system with two fans.I also know some version with VGA NVIDIA and I wonder if only these versions have a cooling system with two fans? The reason that I ask this's because I often see fans run very fast and make noises. This is my first time using a laptop from Lenovo so I don't know if it's normal or not ? My previous laptop from Asus was rarely able to hear the noise from the fan.And one more thing. I bought this laptop for 20 days and use Conservation Mode. Is full charge capacity (in Lenovo Vantage/Battery) reliable ? 10 days ago I checked and found 45Wh/45Wh(Design). 3 days ago it suddenly reduced to 41/45Wh, then i turned off Conservation mode and fully charged and now it's increased to 42.9/45Wh. (With 10 Cycle count)Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The video below show the inside of the C340 model without the discrete Nvidia graphics, and it does indeed have only a single, but larger, cooling fan than the two fan version. This issue started when I was setting up my laptop. I just installed DirectX which is required for a software I use when this shadow appeared at the bottom right side of the screen. I thought it was quite odd so I uninstalled DirectX, but the shadow is still there. I tried reinstalling DirectX and it was still there. Sometimes the shadow disappears, for example, I switched my laptop to tablet mode and it was fixed! I felt so relieved when I made it come out of tablet mode and the shadow was no longer there, a few seconds later, the shadow returned.Does anyone have a solution? Even when the laptop is booting up the shadow is still there, I've been very careful with my laptop so I struggle to think of it as a hardware issue. https://imgur.com/gallery/luzN7hK

It is an Unbuffered SODIMM . It conforms to the industry standard DDR4 SODIMM layout of 260 pins and is compatible with systems that take DDR4 2400MT/s SODIMM memory. Align the notch(es) on the module with the notch(es) in the slot, and then press the module down until the clips on the slot snap into place place. also please clarify whether these activities can be done by me or need to take to some service centers.

Hi , I'm thinking of buying the Lenovo y50-70 , and i dont know why , but im worried about its cooling system. So anyone with the y50-70 can share some personal experience about that would be very nice. The other thing is a cooling pad for the laptop. Ive seen that the vents take air from the bottom, and im curious if I use a cooling pad , wouldnt it blow too much air in the laptop itself?

A:Lenovo Y50-70 Cooling system

My friend who has the Y50 says that it's a pretty solid cooling system. He has chrome, total war with about 5 thousand entities, a mc server, and minecraft running, for about half the day, and it gets pretty warm, but nothing unbearable. The pad would blow cool air into the air intake fans, so it would cool the device effective. The fans exhaust through the back. Hope this helped.

Is it a known problem? I see that I'm not the only one having this problem. I've been a Lenovo user for most of my life and would like to remain one. Can you please suggest a fix? So I got a new laptop, a Lenovo s540-14IWL. Everything is great about it, other than the fact that the bezel is not glued properly to the screen at the right and left edges.I had this problem on the original one I got and also on two replacements. I decided to keep it because the price was very good and I really like it. The other options were not nearly as good and as a programmer I need to have a computer all the time. I was wondering if someone could offer some help?I got 2 options:- Live with it.- Send it to the lab under warranty as it's only about a week old (Problem is I saw their work on my cousin's laptop and it wasn't good). Can it cause any further damage to the computer if I leave it like that. To the eye it's not as bad as it looks in the picture. One important note: If I hold it with my hands it will glue back and look perfect for a few minutes (When it was new it stayed for longer) until it goes back to its' original state. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my post! Here are some pictures:When staring in front of the laptop:Right Side:Left Side:After touching it with my fingers for a few seconds:

I recently purchased a Lenovo IDEAPAD 14" laptop S340-14IWL. I'm finding the display screen is extremely sensitive to viewing angle, in particular in the vertical axis and when watching streaming TV. In particular when watching video like NETFLIX the picture quality is very poor and difficult to watch. I beleive this laptop has a TN display and the poor video quality may be due to the quality of TN panel but not sure if this is a common issue with the S340. Any insights would be appreciated.

Hello Community,as per a.m. I'm reporting what I believe is a bug, not sure it is though.Everytime I try to update the AMD VGA Driver via Lenovo Vantage (which I find very useful since I do not have to deal with the manual install/uninstall of drivers) I reach a point where the OS reports that two different driver versions are installed (??).There seems to result in a driver conflict, therefore I'm unable to access to the AMD Radeon Settings via mouse right click. Shouldn't the Lenovo Vantage process uninstall the old driver before installing the new/updated one? No updating of drivers via Lenovo Vantage have ever resulted in such a weird behaviour, so I have no clue of what it is... Lucky me I am prudent enough to have a daily backup of the OS so I can restore it when such behaviour occurs... Do you guys still suggest to using Lenovo Vantage to update AMD VGA Driver or proceed with the manual update?Could pls. be so kind to tell why Lenovo Vantage is behaving so weirdly and if it's resolvable or not?If it's not can you suggest a page/guide explaining the manual process of updating the specific driver for my notebook and where to download the correct one?Thank you so very much in anticipation for your kind support. Specs:Windows 10 HomeInstalled/current AMD VGA Driver version: 25.20.14118.3002Latest AMD VGA Driver version: 26.20.11016.5002

The Lenovo Ideapad C340 comes in countless configurations, which differ greatly across regions, countries and retailers. Generally, almost all the models come with m2-NVMe PCIe SSDs, except some entry level models (AMD Ryzen 3 and Intel Pentium CPUs) that sometimes come with m2-SATAIII. However, even for those exact configurations, I've fount equivalents with NVMe PCIe in other countries. Where I live - Romania - I fount the C340 14API with AMD Ryzen 3, 1920x1080 TN, 4GB RAM and 125GB SATAIII ssd, which I'm seriously considering buying. It's the best for me, from the limited options that are available in my country. But one thing bugs me, and I cannot find an answer - I intend to upgrade the RAM and the SSD, and I was wondering if I could replace the SATAIII m2 with an NVMe PCIe m2? Considering that this is the only one from the C340 line that comes with SATA and I can find in other countries the exact specs with NVMe - my supposition is that the motherboard might be the same and the m2 slot might be "ambidextrous" - it could accept both SATAIII and NVMe PCIe. However, I couldn't find confirmation. Please - does anyone know this or, perhaps, has done the upgrade successfully? In the case that a NVMe drive could be used, I would certainly buy it - otherwise I think I'll go for the ASUS TP412, which has a much nicer screen. PS. I am aware that with Ryzen 3 and 4/8GB RAM - not having the NVMe drive might not be my bottleneck. I want it more for its poten... Read more

I have just received my C340 and activated Lenovo Vantage which found a BIOS update which I ran. It is now running BIOS version 1.6. BUt when I go onto the Lenovo Support page and it automatically and correctly registers my C340, I am informed of a newer version of the BIOS update (2.02). I do not get it. Why is there a newer version here than the version that Lenovo Vantage finds? And what I am supposed to do in a situation like this? Do I ignore that there is a newer version - or do I actually download it and install it? I would like an answer from a Lenovo representative to this issue. Unfortunately, this is not a very good start with this new Lenovo C340 notebook. When I logged in to the support page by Lenovo and it registered the notebook automatically, it also told me that the warranty ran out in 1970. What???! So now I have put in a case for having them correct this. But this is really not a good start

A:Ideapad C340 - just updated BIOS via Lenovo Vantage but a new version available on support page

Hi BlipBlopDK,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Each machine models have different variants. Not all updates can be applicable for every variants.

With the BIOS, reading the text file first is important doing it manually. If the changes from the older version applies to specific issue you have then you may proceed but if Vantage did not assign it automatically and you do not have any issues then there may not be any need for it.

My warranty is showing incorrect dates and duration? Why is this happening ?
If you had purchased your machine from a retailer, business partner, reseller, Lenovo starts the Base Warranty at the time the shipment was purchased by the retailer, business partner, or reseller from Lenovo. To compensate for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the shelf unsold, Lenovo generally adds an additional month to the Base Warranty, Lenovo allows date to be adjusted.

Here is the article that you can follow for the steps.

About the warranty date correction, some stores would do it for you while other may not since buyer may have a different user for it aside from the fact that personal information should be kept privately.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

My cooler is not running not, I think It is damaged. I opened the laptop and lubrificate it, but it doesnt work.

I **think**, the problem can be:
- just the cooler (I will order a cooler as soon as I discover a place on the internet where I could order OEM parts);
- the cooler and the processor (as the processor is very slow It may have damaged the processor). My processor is a P4 Mobile 2.0ghz. And I dont know where to get a new processor? Anybody know?
- or the worst of all. The motherboard function which triggers the cooler was damaged. If this happened I think I lost my laptop

OEM Laptop parts?...

OEM laptopparts?... Good luck call the builder of the system and get a new one even off warrenty they will often ship the parts free if it is just a fan. I would run the lappy opened for a few seconds to see in the fan is running, DONOT think about putting one finger on the system when it is like this and don't move till you turn the system off cotton shirt and denem is a good thing to ware when doing this to reduce the static charge grab the power cable and hold it a second or two then turn the system off holding the cable, ot dispell static and the human body cannot feel static charges less then 3000 volts and at 30 you can kill parts in your computer... on some systems even less then 30 v will kill it. As far as the temp reader when you replace the fan on most laptops the reader is build into the fan so if it was the reader then that will be fixxed if the problem continues they I would E Bay the system for parts and start looking at new systems... Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hello
So i bought Lenovo Legion, a close to high end gaming laptop.
So far im very happy with it, but got a question.
The Lenovo Nerve Sence software offers a special fan turbo speed which when turning on, bring the 2 fans to their top speeds for cooling while gaming. while in the same time i also got a Thermaltake cooling pad.

My question is, what should i use?
The FanBoost or the cooling pad?
The reason im asking it is that the cooling pad is bulky and pretty heavy, with the 120mm fan and the aluminum plate, not very convenient as far as using while in bed. also its sharp corners are annoying.

As far as i know, the turbo fan is designed to work with games, and its a gaming laptop, an advanced gaming laptop, so do i really need a cooling pad?

Hi, I got a L340-15IRH i7 variant. Some users reported that they are able to enable the cooling boost option by just using the Fn+Q option and notification shows up.Several users are already reporting the same issue as mine and same TS steps didn't fix any issue.(my Mobo and hdd just got replaced a week ago by onsite service, fairly brand new laptop, purchased last July 13.) Some basic TS steps taken:Updated to latest drivers.Updated to latest BIOS versionFN key is workingHotkey is enabled through BIOS.DFPT was set  to quiet mode - changed it to High performance via BIOS.Vantage has been removed and installed several times - even clean removal and installationStill it doesn't work. I talked to Lenovo Chat support and we couldn't arrive to any conclusion as well. I was informed they will have to check from their end and shoot an email if they find any answers.Any idea or help is much appreciated.

I wanted to add second (SATA) disk to S145-14IWL. There is indeed a space just for such 7mm disk but no SATA connector! Is it optional part  that I have to buy extra? Thank you.

What kind of cooling system is sufficient to at least keep a system stable? Water cooling or x amount of fans? Thanks.

Hey everybody, I was looking into getting a liquid cooling system for my rig, but I just dunno anything about the brand names in the industry. I checked reviews on products, but I never fully trust them, as reviews can be misleading sometimes.

Anyhow, something approximately $100 would be swell. I don't want anyone to feel like I'm making them do my shopping for me, but like I said, the cooling field of computers is totally alien to me. I was hoping someone could recommend me a good system, whether out of their own experience or reliable word-of-mouth. Thanks in advance!
