Q: Lenovo Yoga 3 14 won't turn on

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 bought in Oct 2015 that will not turn on. I have tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds and also for one minute and then trying topower up and it doesn't work. I took it to a repair shop and they removed the battery and reinserted it and nothing happened. This is the second major problem I have had with this machine since I bought it. The first issue was a faulty touch screen that required it being sent in for repair. Now 6 months later this power problem shows up. This is extremely disappointing as I felt I did good research before I decided to buy this machine. Any suggestions before I go out and buy something other than a Lenovo product? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Screen comes up with the lenovo logo on start up the flashes logo on and off. Should there be a charge light on when connected to the mains. Prior to this it would shutdown for no apparent reason this happened mainly while using battery.

My Lenovo yoga 700 suddenly went off. I managed to get it back on and after a while it went off again and won't turn on again. When plugged in, it shows that it's charging but that's it. I suspect it's an issue with the motherboard but I can't be too sure. I need help.

Hey Guys, I picked up a Yoga 3 just before xmas and its been running well until just recently. I have noticed that if I shut the machine down and then return to it later it will often not turn back on. Pressing the power button will cause the keyboard to light up but nothing else. After a random amount of time and attempts it will turn on. Whilst trying the light on the power button will remain on. I have contacted online support and they want me to post the laptop to Germany for them to take a look but this wil leave me without my work computer for some time. This problem is also random in that it doesnt always happen. I worry they will try a few times and not be able to reproduce the issue and post it back. Any one any idea of what it might be? I searced the forum and found similar stories but no real advice as to what it might be or a fix. I have updated the BIOS, which didnt seem to help.  Thanks guys

I routinely have the same issue.  What I have done is hold the power button ON for about 30 seconds. Then try to restart.  It succeeds sometimes, but boy, is this a frustrating problem.

I took it from the table (still with cable) in order to put it on my knees and it suddenly switched OFF. So about 1 month ago, my sister was coming from the kithcen upstairs down with her lenovo laptop in sleep mode, she sent me to bring her charger and so i did. We then plugged thecharger in and tried to turn on the laptop. All that happened was the key board lit up and the cpu fan turns on for about 3 seconds, and the laptop does this in a loop until the battery dies. But it does not do this if you disconect the battery and just use the plug, i have tried so many thing, i have tried disconecting power and battery and holding power for 30 seconds, and then pluging it back in. There was only one issue prior to this and it is that the usb 3.0 port that is mounted on the mother board is broken.Note That the charging light does not turn on. My theory's1. The battery is broken, i did test the battery and on the volt measure it said open loop.(likely)2. The usb 3.0 somehow fried part of the mother board, but not all of it since the cpu fan, power light, and the keyboard still work.(unlikely since a fried mother board nothing works)3. The charger port is broken.(unlikely since the battery does charge, but the laptop does not turn on without a bettery).

I was using my Lenovo 3 11 last night.  battery got low, so I plugged it in.  It wasn't charging.  Then it died and it won't charge at all.  I can't turn it on at all.  I'm sure power cord is fine.  I haven't had any problems at all with the power cord.  What can I do?  I've only had it for about 6 months.

It was within warranty, so this cost me $0. Now, the computer won?t turn on at all (just 4 months after my warranty expired). I went to best buy to have the computer looked at and was told it may be a big problem. The computer has no physical or water damage of any kind. Sending it out for testing and repair it will likely cost me over $500. The computer was originally $800 and with its record of needing repairs I don?t think it would be wise to repair it just to have it break again (as it does once every six months.) I am finding it very difficult to get any support information from lenovo itself. I have never heard of a computer breaking so quickly and so often. Hello all, just looking for some help. I am completely desperate at this point! 
As the title states, I own the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 inch version (the one on this link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-2-2-in-1-11-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-5...
Please note that this is the version with the Pentium N3520, not the i5-4210Y! This laptop was purchased at the end of March.
 
Anyway, the last time I used this laptop was on Thursday. I used it to quickly email something to the desktop I was using. I noticed it had around 10% battery left, so I planned on charging it later that day.
 
I got caught up with some other school work and did not touch my laptop until Friday morning. I pressed the power button, but it did not turn on. This was not surprising, since I figured the battery had run out since the previous day. I plugged it in but immediately noticed that something was wrong. The Power/Charging LED did not turn on. The laptop does not POST, and it does not beep! The fans do not start up, and the screen does not even flicker. It is exactly as if the battery is not there. The charger and the outlet work fine, as they have been tested with another Lenovo laptop.

I have already tried the solution in the other post but did not work. My laptop was working fine but then one day would not turn on or charge. My laptop doesn't turn on anymore. Here is what I have to do to turn it on (I tried many sequence of steps, but this is the only one that works every time):-Disconnect battery and CMOS battery-Press power button ten times, then press and hold for 30 seconds-Connect power adaptor and press power button At this point, my laptop turns on, but I have to reset my time and date in BIOS (of course this is normal since I disconnected the CMOS batter). Once I turn my laptop on, my batter shows that it is charging and it is at 100%. I dual boot and both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 show the batter charging at 100%.As soon as I unplug my AC adaptor, the laptop turns off again and I have to repeat the sequence above again to turn it on. This happens consistently. However, if I shutdown my laptop the right way without unplugging the AC adaptor at any point, it turns back on normally. This happens of both my Linux and Windows OS. What I've tried:-Uninstalling battery drivers and restarting my laptop-Updating to the latest power management drives from this Lenovo websiteI also read that some HP laptops have software issues that doesn't allow the laptop to switch from AC adaptor mode to battery mode. I'm not sure since I haven't got this problem with my Thinkpad Yoga14 but I'm just curious if the "Emergency-reset hole" works for something on your computer, or if it does not change anything on the procedure you are doing to turn it on.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 11 laptop. I am a mechanical engineering student, so I use my laptop all of the time for school assignments involving CAD etc. My laptop is essential to me and I take really good care of it! At the end of June 2016, my laptop's battery died. I plugged in the computer expecting it to charge right away, and it would not charge. The battery light would not come on despite it being plugged in for over an hour. I kept trying the power button and nothing would work. The laptop is relatively new and still under warranty, so I contacted Lenovo tech support. They walked me through various troubleshooting techniques to see if my laptop would boot up again and it would not. I looked up alternative solutions that I could potentially try myself, but I did not want to do anything that would void my warranty. Lenovo tech support suggested that I should send it in to the Lenovo repair facility. They said the turnaround for repairs was about 7 business days. I was in an online summer course at the time and needed my laptop fixed quickly, so I was relieved to hear that repairs usually only took about 7 days. I  packaged up my laptop and sent it in. I patiently waited and my laptop was not coming back. It ended up being in the Lenovo repair facility for over A MONTH. For awhile, my laptop (Lenovo Yoga 13) wouldn't shut down from the screen (i.e., pressing the shut down option on the screen) so I had to physically touch the power button to shut it off. Now that I can lock my laptop finally, and leave it overnight, I can log into Windows just fine...I'm using Windows 8.1, just s you know. My only problem now is when I shut it down...Once it's shut down, I'm left praying that it turns on again and boots up like normal....but it takes me, like, 8+ (or more) tries before it's back on again. So now, when I use my laptop, I lock it so that I don't have to worry about it powering on; I"m able to use it normally after unlocking it. But what could the reason my laptop shuts down (when I shut it down myself since I can't shut it off from the screen using my mousepad) and the power button being on and glowing but showing a black screen? That's what happens after I shut the power off and turn it back on again.   My laptop is 4 years old, so it's out o' warranty and I can't get it fixed by Lenovo.  I hear it's a hardware issue, but is it an issue with the screen itself or is it a motherboard failure specifically?How can I fix it if I take it to a computer shop and how much exactly is it gonna cost me to fix it? Help is appreicaited!

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hi  We have purchased a Lenovo Yoga Laptop on 20.01.17. From 10th of April onwards , there is some issues with Laptop Power Button .We are not able to switch it on using power Button. We had a talk with call center executives, Senior Executives & service Head of Kolkata, but still there is no proper update. We are still in Dark .They are not able to provide any proper information about parts availability.Ticket Ref No. is 7007963157.As the Laptop is very high valued  & purchased on the month of Jan.We are in regular touch of Service Head since last week & he is still not able to provide proper info about the parts availability .NOw he says he is sending an engineer to inspect.THis is not at all acceptable.  Any suggestions Would be helpful.

I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?

Initial problem:On the  29th June 2016 my laptop suddenly turned off and now only the backlit keyboard lights up and goes off again and the power button just goes on and off.After about 5 minutes of use before the error the screen went blue and shut down. After restarting, as it went onto the desktop the screen flickered constantly and was unusable. I then turned it off again and it wont turn on since. My issue now:Anyway after emailing lenovo, and sending it off they said it was the RAM. However after enquiring over a month after sending it off and paying for the repair they replied with:'We have received feedback from our repair provider in relation to your device in repair. Unfortunately due to non-availability of parts we are unable to complete this repair. We will send your faulty device back to you free of charge. Once we have the part in stock you can re-book the repair again free of charge.' Since last summer, I have emailed multiple times and they have replied saying it still isn't in stock. I just feel like I am being treated unfairly as the laptop wasn't even 2 years old and it's broke and they will not fix it. I don't want to have to  do it myself as that will probably cause its own problem, but its the principal that they should fix their mistake! I have seen a youtube video of the same problem on the same laptop so it is obviously an issue. Any ideas on what I can do to get this issue solved would be great, even if its the email to ... Hello,    I am looking to replace my aging Lenovo T420S and Lenovo x1 Carbon 1st generation. They have both served me well and I am happy with both.  I like the touch of Carbon but don?t use it that often. The machine will be perosnla machine but will be used for personal and business/work use. I saw the T460S and x1 Yoga yesterday at our IT department. I like the built quality of Lenovo T460S including keyboard but found X1 Yoga to be fragile. I couldn?t get my hands on X1 Carbon 4th generation and found out that it doesn?t have touch anymore. The weight difference is minimal between the three machines and I personally like the weight, feel and ruggedness of Lenovo T460S. Bottom line is does anyone have experience with these three machines? I can afford to replace only one machine now and it will be fully loaded (i7, 16GB and 1Tb PCIe-NVME drive). Is x1 Yoga rugged and reliable? The difference between X1 Carbon 4th Gen and T460S seems minimal. Thank You!Subhash

My S5 Yoga 15 won't turn on When I press and hold the power button, the red light comes on only after I let go of the power button, and it stays on for only 5 seconds.Screen never illuminates, fan doesn't twitch or move. I've reseated all cables, tried removing RAM, moving the sticks around. Even with RAM removed, the thinkpad does the same behavior. Pressing the tact switch only seems to reset the system. I've removed the CMOS battery and main battery to reset the CMOS settings. And that doesn't work either. The notebook is just over a year old.

I have a Yoga 3 14 that was running Windows 10. I've had it for approximately 6 months and this is the first time I have had this issue. I was using the laptop in the morning. I went to lunch, leaving it on a table with the screen open. When I came back an hour later, the screen was black, which was not unusual because it would ordinarily sleep being idle so long. But now it won't turn on. When it is plugged in, the battery indicator light on the side glows solid white. When it is on battery, the battery indicator light will flash briefly on when the power button is pushed, but the screen remains black and the keyboard backlight does not turn on. It does not make any noise to indicate that anything else is active. I have tried numerous combinations of the power button, volume keys, etc. to turn it back on. I cannot pop out the battery and try to reboot it on A/C power because the battery is not removable without special tools.  The battery was at 80% or so before this happened so it will take a LONG time to naturally drain, given the fact that the laptop won't turn on to drain it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Last night I was using the laptop and didn't notice the battery was almost dead. After it died I turned it back on and used it for a few more minutes, when it suddenly shut down with no warning. When I tried to turn it back on, the orange battery light flashed twice (with it plugged in). After a few more attempts, it now does nothing when I press the on button, no lights or anything. Same thing whether plugged in or not. Also, half the Torx screws appear to be stripped all of a sudden, so I can't remove the battery either. Help?

A:Yoga 3 Pro won't turn on

The situation seems "not great", but fixable.  I get machines that someone has already "fixed", so I see some messes.  There is no reset button.  You were doing what I would so, disconnect the main battery, but stripping the screw heads makes things difficult.  Usually, torx screws are hard to strip if you are careful and the driver fits, but it can happen.  I use a reverse-thread 2mm bit in a drill set to spin backwards.  (just as I would do if they were philips screws)   I drill slowly through the head and either the head starts to spin by itself, meaning it is no longer connected to the shaft, or, more likely, the whole screw spins out.  Obviously, the screws will need to be replaced.  You can use a normal philips 3mm or 3.5mm screw.  If some of the heads came off without the shafts, there should be enough to grab with a small pair of vice grips.

I recently bought my Lenovo Yoga 710-14ISK and i realised 3 days ago that it won't turn on unless the charging cable is plugged in. I tried it earlier, pressing the power button resulted in no reaction at all. The LED next to it didn't flash or anything. I tried holding it for 30 sec and nothing happened.  As soon as I plugged in the charging cable the LED next to the socket turned on. I pressed the power button and turned on the laptop without any problems.  Battery charge was at 67%.  I then turned it off again and tried to turn it on again without the charging cable, did not work. Only with the charging cable plugged in. Battery chage was the same after I turned it on again.  Runs perfectly fine without charging cable as soon as it is tuned on.  Help please :-)

I have a Lenovo Yoga 370, and recently I came back to it after a few hours(it was closed and may have had low battery as well, and would have been in sleep). Now it does not turn on at all, nor even light any lights when off-charger. I plugged it in, and the charging light switched on and eventually turned to orange then green. After leaving it like this for a while, I held the power button for a few seconds and the caps lock, escape, mute, and mic on/off lights all turned on, as well as the charging light changing to orange. When I let go all the lights turn off except for the charging light which returns to green. Any ideas what is happening/what I can do to fix this?

I've had it for a bit under a month, and apart from an occasionally sketchy touchscreen for the first week or so, it's been perfect.  I have a crazy job where I'm in a different location at least every week, sometimes every day, and my duties vary from teaching to materials creation to curriculum development to programming to IT. Unfortunately, I got home last night, and it wouldn't turn on.  Fine; I figured that maybe the battery was dead.  Plugged it in, and still no joy, but hey, I figured maybe it wouldn't start until it hit a certain minimum charge level (a la many smartphones).  So I left it charging overnight, packed it when I went to work this morning, got here, and... it still won't start. Indicators/symptoms: The only I/O that appears to be working is the charge indicator (the small circular light next to the power button) and the power button light. If I plug in the power, the small circular light stays on (white) until I unplug it. Plugging in the power also sometimes causes the power light to turn on (again, white), and it will stay on (regardless of whether it's plugged in) until I force power-off via holding the power button. Nothing else works/responds.  The fans do not turn on, the caps lock light does not light up, the keyboard backlight can not be turned on.  Nothing.  As far as I can tell, the computer isn't even on -- only the power light.  I have tried every hotkey (and other key) on t... A:YOGA 710 does not turn on alone

Hi. welcome to the forum
That is a very strange behaviour, since once it will boot (Plugged to the wall) and it keep working without being plugged, so maybe it is not an issue with the battery.  How long is the battery keeping the charge, does it discharge very fast? or works normally?
 
If it is a hardware issue, I don't think there is a different alternative than opening a formal ticket to Lenovo to check it.
 
Some idea that involve some issue with firmware is updating the BIOS to the latest available release: BIOS Update for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 710-14ISK, Yoga 710-15ISK (Sadly does not list on the readme if it fix something related to your issue). Please validate that this BIOS applies to your model.
 
My other idea is to update the Power Management driver (Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI) Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) ...), and force Windows to make a full shut down.
