Q: CISCO, CALL CENTER WALLBOARD

Hi guys,
A client is planning on setting up a call center using an E1 line, that a telephony company has already provided with a toll free number. they want about 20 workstations and a wallboard screen should also be included. the hardware (cisco) isn't the problem
but the software bit that will be able to ensure reports on all incoming, outgoing, received and missed calls is the problem. If anyone has a clue on the best software for the job kindly assist.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

HI GUys,

POrobably a shot in the dark but looking for some help with call manager, specifically updating firmawre to the phones.
I have installed a new release from TFTP server and it is showing in the frimware loads, I have reset the phones..on reset they say upgarding 8-3-5 but when I check the firmware version on them its still says 8-3-4.
When i check staus messages is says no ctl installed.

Any ideas? I have been searching for days buts ciscos web-help doesn't go into technical instructions

I have got a Cisco 1760 Voice Router, a 2950 Cisco Switch, a Cisco Call Manager 4.0, Cisco IP Phones and an external PSTN line.

Now, how do I get all these guys connected so I can make/receive external calls. ie Use my IP Phone through my Call Manager to make calls to public phones and at the same time receive calls from public phones on my Cisco IP Phones.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has experience of connecting Cisco Nexus 5548UPs (or any device in the N5K range) to Cisco Prime Data Center Network Manager (DCNM)? We are migrating from end of row MDS9500's to top of rack N5K's and the legacy Fabric Manager we were using to manage the zone sets on the MDS's doesn't work with the N5K's so we need to move to DCNM.

I've been able to get the MDS 9500's connected as a DCNM data source but can't get a N5K to connect. Some detail of the N5K addition process:

Go to Admin > Data Sources
Fabric Seed Switch = IP of Mgmt 0 on N5K
SNMP = v3/SSH
Auth-Privacy = tried all options
User name = tried local and RADIUS user accounts
Password = as appropriate
Limit discovery by VSAN = unticked
Enable NPV discovery = ticked (default)

When trying the various local and AAA accounts, I can see the requests hitting the ACS server and being authorised. I've tried removing the AAA config on the N5K's which made no difference when trying local accounts.

The errors we get vary depending on which Auth-Privacy setting is used - sometimes it's a timeout message "Discovery is taking longer than 2 minutes. Please return later to check status in table", sometimes "Cannot authenticate snmp user:null/<ipAddress> Unknown User or Password" <- This one is interesting, why does it say "user:null"?

A:Cisco Prime Data Center Network Manager & Nexus 5K

It's been a while since I've played with the Nexus and MDS switches. The issue I had was when the N5010 first came out. I wasn't able to get the zoning I set up on the MDS 9216i to replicate across to the N5010. I ended up having to do everything manually.

I recently purchased a N5010 for my home lab. I haven't had time to fully spin it up with DCNM yet. But I wouldn't be able to help you much as I'll be either breaking out the FC traffic on Brocade switches or coming off of the N5010 with native FC as I have the FC module installed in the switch.

I desparately need some VERY SPECIFIC help. This may be a NEW problem for most BUT as MORE computer are being sold with HD screens and added-on or built-in TV Tuners, you will see this, and similar, more and more often.

FIRST OFF, I KNOW ALREADY how WMC works (or is supposed to!) and have set it up for use with a cable box before many times, so PLEASE do not send me all the links for "How to ......" articles - they do NOT apply!

This is a very isolated and specific problem. THe details are as follows:

I am trying to set up my WMC on my HP Envy 17 laptop to enable me to watch cable TV on my laptop and control the channels (OS is Win7x64SP1). This is done by the use of my add-on, USB TV Tuner, made by Hauppauge, model HVR-950Q. Normally this isn't a problem (I used it with Comcast cable for quite some time); been there, done that.

HOWEVER, I just recently changed ISPs and Cable provider to ATT & Uverse. BE WARNED!! Uverse & ATT Tech Support makes HP Tech Support look good! Nuff said?

The WMC can set up the TV signal either automatically if it knows or recognizes the make/model of the set top box. Most often this is done manually. In order to control the set top cable box, your computer has to be able to "see" and read IR codes sent out my almost all remotes (there are a VERY few RF and sonic ones left out there, but this ATT one is regular IR). I HAVE THIS EXACT PROBLEM. Im running windows 7, service pa ck 1, i have a media gate remote, with reciever and problem, and like you just recieved a Cisco CIS330 STB, also known as Scientific Atlanta CIS 330.

Either way i have not found a viable solution other than replacing some ir driver dll files and then writing the CCF files myself for Media Centers modified drivers to send to the IR blaster, but this is all way beyond my ability and knowledge with PCs. As well, i believe their remotes use toggle codes ( meaning it sends different frequency signal everytime u press the same button), therefore media center cannot learn the code. The only way to get around that is to do what i mentioned above, detailed on this helpful, but overly technical page here MCE Remote Replacement Driver FAQ


I have settled for just using two remotes, my STB one, and my PC one for media center.

If anyone else has any useful or easy suggestions around this problem, please let me know as well.

I recently uninstalled Avast 7 free AV which I have been using & recommending since v4 largely because it just became too busy/ambitious/bloated/resource hungry...etc... but the final nail in their coffin was the recent iYogi Fubar-ness/fiasco https://blog.avast.com/2012/03/15/iyogi-support-service-removed/We had initial reports of this behavior a few weeks ago and met with iYogi's senior executives to ensure the behavior was being corrected. Thus, we were shocked to find out about Mr. Krebs' experience. As a consequence, we have removed the iYogi support service from our website and shortly it will be removed from our products. We believe that this type of service, when performed in a correct manner, provides immense value to users. As such, over the next weeks, we will work with iYogi to determine whether the service can be re-launched.That they're actually considering still using this service speaks volumes to me about their (Avast's) business model/marketing strategy. Buh bye Avast, hello M$EMy parting shot to Avast/iYogi.

we currently have two nortel business communications manager boxes but i think that a product better suited for our particular functions would improve our performance.

we have two pri's going into each bcm.

we also have a number of issues with the d channels intermittently going down.

If you are looking to replace your system the Avaya (Lucent) Definity is excellant. Very pricey though. It will handle any configuration you can think of running. It is the same system used by HSN and the Federal Reserve. I've worked with Nortel, Siemens-Rolm and Fujitsu and the Lucent was the best of them although for cheaper money the Fujitsu 9600 isnt bad.

Okay, this is just weird....
.... phone rings, call display shows up as UNKNOWN, I was expecting another phone survey or something but before I hang up I figure I'd at least see wgo it is. He asks for me by name then says he's from the "Windows Support Center" or something like that. I can tell he's at a call center in India or something, poor phone connection, I can hear other people in the back ground.

He says our computer is sending out error messages every time we're on the web or something like that, might be from a virus or some kinda windows errors. We have 5 computers, I think I'm clever by asking him which one he's talking about and he replies "the one running Windows 7".

Okay, so I'm skeptical, but figure I'll see where this foes.

So he asks me to run EVENTVWR on that computer which brings up a "even viewer: window, he asks me to look under WINDOWS LOGS - APPLICATIONS and read to him what the sources are, he asks me how many there is etc. I tell them there are hundreds, he asks for the sources and gives me some kinda techno talk as to what's causing that error.
Then he asks what the sources are for the ones marked in yellow as a warning, get more techno talk.

Next he asks me to run WWW.SUPPORT.ME which brings up a "support connection" window "powered byLogMeIn ". It asks for a 6 digit code which he gives me. Now I don't know what to expect, for all I know this will ope... Read more

I gave my laptop for repair of my fan which was giving very weird sound and then I got call back, which I could not attend. They left a message for me to call them back with a number. When i called on that number it got redirected to general voice mail. I asked them to connect me to the reapair center personal. Now the main headache starts. They can't connect me to the center. All they can do is that they can generate some ticket/requiest saying that those personal need to contact me. Even after calling three times, I haven't got call back yet. Also, as that person has sent me a voice mail, he must be waiting for my answer and certainily won't call me back. So, now my laptop is going to be in the facility for forever and i need it by 14th Dec, which won't happen. I don't have any medium to reach those people, nor those hp customer service people. As their policy says, if they can't contact me in 3 business days, my laptop will come back unrepaired.  And, also it will miss the delivery date of 14th.  Worst service support ever.  And worst part is that evevytime I call them, each person says I don't see any ticket assignment by anyone to get you call back. Unbelievable. So what, they just say whatever they want to say without doing anything.

I just received a phone call from a person purporting to be from the Windows Technical Center, Jacksonvill, FL (888-970-4250) who said that they have noted a security issue with my computer.  This person asked me to open the run command line and bring
up the windows event viewer (eventvwr).  Prior to opening up windows event viewer I asked for verification of this person's credentials and he gave me the information above, and a name that I did not write down.
The process appeared to be somewhat suspicious and I said that I would need to verify this person and organization and call back the toll free number before I went any further.
I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can offer any advice....

First question is what type of ISP service do you have and how many devices? If you want to connect 5 devices, you'll need 5 static IPs from your ISP. The reason is that 3500xl switch is a layer 2 switch only. Which means there is no routing /layer 3 functionality.

I just initialised my 1TB hard Drive (which is still empty) and wanted to call it D but the system suggested I call it E because other programs may wish to use the D that has been allocated to the Optical Drive.

So I left it at E.

Any particular reason why I can't go back in and change mechanical hard drive to D and the Optical Drive to E?

In passing, when I initialised the mechanical drive I set the Simple volume at less than the Basic figure shown and now have a tiny unallocated portion - do I just ignore it? (Never initialised before, so I guess it goes down to experience)

I am trying to open up passive ftp to pass threw my network. The problem I have is with ftp data getting out to a server else where. The client on my network never gets a connection to the server and the file doesn't get transfered. Regular active ftp works fine. The problem has to be in my access-list somewhere.

Here are the lines in my access-list that might matter:

access-list 101 permit tcp any any eq ftp
access-list 101 permit tcp any any eq ftp-data
access-list 101 deny tcp any any
access-list 101 deny udp any any

now the ftp-data line shouldn't that let in any ftp traffic coming in?

would I have to try something like this:
access-list 101 permit tcp any eq ftp-data any gt 1023

Any suggestions I will have to do in off hours so I don't interupt any traffic.

A:Cisco IOS 12.1 on Cisco router

Is this a standard FTP port they are trying to connect to? The data connections use a wide rang of ports for the transfer of data, so limiting it to a specific port won't work. According to your access list the ftp-data is being allowed from any to any.

BTW, the remote server needs to support PASV.

I was playing CoDUO one day and tried to play a map which would not load because the game was reading the wrong files. I decided it was a great itea(at the time) to just go and delete all of my call of CoD/CoDUO files without uninstalling either first. After deleteing all files(or what I thought was all files) I tried to reinstall both games. When I insert the CD, the main title screen opens and gives me the options to play in single/multiplayer, or uninstall. if I click on uninstall, the uninstall wizard starts to open, then goes away with no affect. I found a post here on how to possible delete Cod and CoDUO from my computer, that post is here: http://forums.techguy.org/games/472741-uninstall-call-duty-help.html . I have followed the steps given by colmaca but to no success. I have tried searching in all hidden/non-hidden and all indexed/non-indexed places on all my drives to find anything related to Call of Duty, and get nothing. Is there anything else I should try? i have these crazy notications on my computer, i already scanned out alot of viruses, and spyware with AVG,AntiVir, Spybot,Ad-Aware, AVG antispyware, Xoftspy and delected all my cookies..
ive also used the popular method with smitfraud and these popups arent going away! these adds still popup in safe mode!

I've just installed ATA center and a lightweight gateway on one DC.  I logged into the ATA console and tried swapping the IP's of the ATA Center and ATA Console.  After saving my changes, there was a message about waiting for the gateways to sync
the new config, along with 2 buttons.  I think the first button was to apply the new config, but it was greyed out.  The second button was "revert".  After a few minutes, the first button never became available, so I tried reloading
the page.  Now I can't get the console to load on either of the 2 IP addresses.  
When I try to open either IP in IE, I get "this page cannot be displayed."  
How can I get the console back?
Edit: Looks like the ATA Center service is failing to start.  In Event viewer, I see 4 events each time it tries and fails to start, with the most relevant/informative event being HttpEvent ID 15005: 
Unable to bind to the underlying transport for 10.x.x.x:443. The IP Listen-Only list may contain a reference to an interface which may not exist on this machine.  The data field contains the error number.
Looks like maybe it's trying to bring up ATA Center on it's original IP, but the console has already taken over that IP.  
Any suggestions?

I needed to reinstall 8.1 Pro over my OS to fix a damaged Windows file system. The performed procedure fixed my system but removed my Media Center, which was payed for years ago when i upgraded to Win 8.1 Pro w/ Media Center from Win 8.0 Pro w/ Media Center.
I had to purchase it then, even though i already had it prior to the upgrade, and so i do not feel i should have to pay for it once again, especially since i saved the Product Key the second time!

I have a cisco 2514 series router, DSL, a win98 machine, nt (server) machine and a 2k machine. I'd like to run the dsl into the router and give Internet access to the other machines. My IP address from the provider is DHCP (not static). So my question is what would be the best way to configure this. Should I run the dsl line into the router or run the dsl into my win 98 machine and use it as a gateway? Any detailed advice would be helpful Thanks

I am looking to edit a single atribute in a .pcf file (Cisco Vpn Client File)

I am looking for a (VBS) script that will change the line
Host=117.XXX.13.XXX with Host=XXXXVPNXXX.ABCD.IN

We have over 300 pcf files with difrent names.
The localtion were the file is in is C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles\"filename".pcf

We have multiple PCF file' want to change the one pcf file.

The idea is to push this script to all client running the CISCO VPN Software

Hi all,
I am facing problem with intermediate disconnection in cisco vpn 5.0 in a day alsomost 5 to 10 times. if any one give suggestion it will help to fix this issue.

Operating System: Windows 7
VPN: Cisco VPN 5.0

Note: I did reinstalled the VPN and drivers.

I have a laptop that I use to connect to my workplace and for some reason it just quit working. I am using a Cisco VPN client software and I keep getting "Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding". I have tried the following:
-made sure that my windows firewall turned off
-tried turning my stateful firewall on and off
-tried using IPSec over UDP
-tried using IPSec of TCP
-I have made sure I have an internet connection
-I am plugged directly into my modem

Can some one help

You can download it from the Cisco website here, it is found under Products > Security > Virtual Private Networks (VPN)> Cisco VPN Clients > Cisco VPN Client. However you need a valid service contract associated with that login to allow you to download it.

When I try to login to a VPN using a Cisco client the following happens.

"Initializing the connection"
""Contacting the security gateway at ..."

Then just stops and goes back to "Not connected"

No error messages. If I use an incorrect password, same thing - no error message.

If I put in an incorrect host name - or use a connection that blocks the ports, I receive an error, so it can contact the host.

I've tried 2 different Net connections.

It was working fine, then just stopped.

Does anyone know why?

Running 32-bit Windows XP - a company provided laptop.

I'm currently using cisco wifi (WAP4410N). I really don't have any idea how to fix this. I cannot open 192.168.1.245 so that I can setup a password.

hi there, my work allows me to vpn in from home to remotely access my network files. unfortunately the cisco vpn software we have available to us does not install on 64 bit systems... and i've also heard does not even work on any version of vista. does anyone out there have a different solution?

Hi namonaki, it looks like you may be out of luck without upgrading hardware ~ Andy Leonard : Cisco VPN Client and Vista x64

EDIT: You may consider setting up VM to run your Cisco VPN in a 32 bit environment.
