M720q M920q Tiny: Is it compatible with Tiny-In-One TIO Gen3 monitors (10R1 10QY)

Q: M720q M920q Tiny: Is it compatible with Tiny-In-One TIO Gen3 monitors (10R1 10QY)

I want to purchase a ThinkCentre M720q Tiny model 10T7 together with a Tiny-In-One 22 (or 24) Gen3 monitor model 10R1 or 10QY.
But when I look into the User's Guide of the TIO22Gen3 or TIO24Gen3 I don't see the M720 listed on the page of the supported Tinys that can be installed in the monitor.
The ports on the rear of the M720q should indicate that it is compatible and should fit into a TIO22Gen3 (or TIO24Gen3).
But I am not sure.
Even the PSREF doesn't list the M720 in the Tiny-In-One compatibility list. I have looked into PSREF Version 534 from December 2018.

Can somebody confirm the compatibiity of a M720q and the TIO Gen3 monitors?

Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Apologies for the delay. Yes, all Generation 2 Tiny (M73,M93) and newer are compatible with all TIO. The only exceptions are the workstation and extreme models. Ex. M920x, P330

I am trying to determine the difference between the M920q Tiny and the M920x Tiny base units. The specifications are not clear about the differences, they seem virtually identical with enourmous overlap in their configuration options but they are described as having two different machine types. M920x Machine Type = 10S1 and M920q Machine Type = 10RS. There is so much overlap that it appears to be possible to literally build an M920x and M920q with identical configurations other than the Machine Type. I suspect the difference is something about the motherboard, but they both use the same Q370 Chipset and have the same Tiny form factor case. The Q version seems to only accept the 35W CPU's (for example the i7-8700T 2.4GHz) and the X version can be configured with the 65W CPU's (for example the i7-8700 3.2GHz). It appears that both can be configured with an adapter that allows use of a low profile PCIe card in place of the various "rear port options". However, the X models list some versions with an add-in PCIe card for the AMD Radeon 560 4GB GPU which are only configured with the 35W CPUs. This leads me to believe the difference may simply be increased power and/or cooling in the X models, but both the Q and X models can be configured with the 135W Power Supply. It's entirely unclear, but I also suspect the X model might have a second M.2 slot for a second SSD stick, because specs for the X mention support for RAID 0/1. I've spent hours pouring over the available onli... Hi,

I have an issue with two screens on M720q (10T7006PMX). If I have any of this cables VGA and HDMI to HDMI or DisplayPort to DisplayPort it works fine, but if I have DisplayPort to HDMI or DisplayPort to DVI and HDMI to HDMI the screen with DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI doesn?t work, Windows doesn?t find the screen. When I upgrade graphics driver to 24.20.100.6287 the screen works but flicker. I have tried two different DisplayPort to HDMI cables and two DisplayPort to DVI. Win10 1809. When I use the 24.20.100.6287 driver I also get a third screen in screen resolution, that is not supposed to be there. I have tried on three different screens.

Hi,

I just bought the M910X tiny desktop and 2 identical Lenovo ThinkCentre monitors. I installed the desktop into one of the monitors, which works fine. How do I connect the second monitor to the PC? It seems like the DisplayPort showing on the back of the monitor is only for plugging a separate device into the screen, not video out to a second monitor from the PC. Is that right?

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

When you say "installed into a monitor", it's a Tiny-in-One monitor?  It would help to know which model.  Pretty sure you would need to connect the 2nd monitor direct to the Tiny itself, is there a way to do that with it installed in the monitor?

For all of our desktops we have the display set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity to save power and extend the life of the monitor.  With the Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny, once the monitor turns off, it won't wake back up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.  The Tiny is still running just fine I can remote to it from another machine but even remoting to it and logging in does not wake the screen.  This is with the TIO running in AIO mode.  The only way to wake the screen is to use the user controls on the front of the monitor to switch to DP mode and back to AIO mode.

Is this a know bug?  Running Windows 7 and I've already reinstalled all drivers and ran the lenovo system update utility and everything is up-to-date.  I also set the display to turn off after only a minute to do more testing and about 1 in every 10 tries, the monitor will wake up normally.  The rest of the time I have to use the user controls on the front of the monitor.

In addition to the same exact thing that Banner has, (well I wake it by pressing the power button, it goes off, then press again, it comes on, then move mouse to wake) but in addition to that quite a few of our clients mention that when they sit down at the computer (without touching anything) it immediately goes black, shows AIO Mode in the top left corner and goes back to the normal screen.

I have a new M720q with 2 display ports and an HDMI port. I have run Lenovo System update that says everything is completely up to date. I have manually downloaded from Lenovo's site the graphics driver and ran the installer.  Device manager still says graphics are using the Microsoft Generic driver, and only one monitor is seen. I have tried different monitors, different ports, Display port to VGA adapter will work. Display port to monitor will work, but only for ONE monitor. I connect up a second monitor using Display port direct cable to monitor, or using HDMI and it just isn't seen by Windows as a second monitor. I can swap which monitor works and which connector including the adapter or direct by rebooting.  As far as I can tell, the graphics driver Lenovo's site points to is not the right driver, or isn't being loaded by Windows 10. There is no Intel graphics control panel either. Any ideas which driver might work direct from Intel?

A:M710q M720q Tiny: Memory RAM upgrade to 32 GB = Shutdown in minutes. Solved: use Kingston memory

I have run into the same issue with Lenovo M900 Tiny model 10FM and above at my workplace.  One stick of 16GB will work (using that now), two sticks however shuts down the system 1 minute into power up...

I used Crucials memory checker, received two DDR4-2400 sodimm 1.2v cl17 16gb dual sided chips (kit of 2x16GB).  System would power up, go into Windows 10, be up for Approx 1 minute and system would power off.  You cannot repower the system, it turns on and shuts off immediately.  Pulling power to the device, plugging in again, will let it power to same point as before.  Approx 1 minute into having both modules installed.

Currently allowing the 16gb to remain to monitor for any issues.  The stick that came out was from the manufacturer, an 8gb with QC M02089 on it, no other markings.  It will not work in either socket with the 16gb chip.  TC steps as follows:

- Both 16 gb chips installed, power off after 1 minute up
- Single 16gb chip, stable
- Single 8gb chip, stable
- Swap 16gb chips in sockets, power off after 1 minute up
- New set of 16 gb modules, same issue as before (these were slightly higher freqency of 2666MHz)

Seems like a power issue on the mobo, too much draw.  As a cannot find any information on the installed chip itself creates a problem I can't get past.

Different Intel chipset implies a different motherboard.   Providing processor, memory, storage is the same speed, I would suspect that the performance is the same or similar.

I have an M900 Tiny that has a intermittent problem with dropping brightness on the displayport out. I'm not setting it anywhere. Sometimes when coming out of sleep (windows 7 x64 Pro) it just won't send video. I can swap the DP cable to another monitor and the problem is the same. A hard reboot solves it, leading me to think it's definitely something WRT the sleep/video configuration. I've had it running in Maximum Performance power mode with no OS sleep settings, just 'turn off the monitor after 6 minutes'. The video driver version is: 20.19.15.4474 This is a somewhat recent problem, as it hasn't always done this. Anyone run into a similar situation? And found an actual fix/solution? Hi, Does the ThinkCentre M720 Tiny support three independent displays with all digital connections? My research is indicating yes, but I'm not 100% sure. If it does, do I need an additional port, or can it be done with the standard 1xHDMI and 1xDP ports and appropriate adapters/splitters? I currently have 3 BenQ monitors, all same model with HDMI and DVI-D interfaces (no DisplayPort) and 1920x1080 resolution. As a result, I'm guessing I'll need some adapters and possibly the DP to dual DP adapter? The reason behind the question is that I'm currently weighing up whether to go for SFF or Tiny form factor, and support for 3 independent digitial displays is one of my requirements. My current machine is a ThinkCentre tower with a GT730 card, but it would be nice go "go tiny" if I can with the replacement. The model I had in mind is the 10T7004B++, but feel free to recommend a different model if necessary. Any advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks

It seems like the DisplayPort showing on the back of the monitor is only for plugging a separate device into the screen, not video out to a second monitor from the PC. Is that right? Sorry if this is a stupid question! Thank you

Mod:  edited the Subject line to clarify the system model as 2nd gen

A:Thinkcentre M715q Tiny 2nd gen: Ryzen 5 PRO 2400ge compatible memory RAM

Check the speed your existing memory is running at (MemTest86), according the spec, it runs at 2666 for the higher spec processors, (2400 for the lower spec.)

Your system has a M.2 PCIe NVMe slot, and could accommodate a 970 Evo SSD card, which would be several times faster than a 2.5" 860 Evo drive (which is compatible, the system also has one 2.5" drive bay.)

Hi,

I have a new M92p Tiny (2121A4U) that was purchased to take advantage of the 3 native independent displays.  Additionally the DisplayPort to Dual-DisplayPort Adapter (0B47092) was purchased to facilitate this as I was told that is what i needed.

So far, I can get either cloned or stretched desktop on the two DP monitors, but NOT extended/independent displays.  I called Lenovo Support and after walking them through their own product and what their marketing department is saying exists, was told that the Intel HD 2500 card doesn't work for this.  According to the PSREF (pg 161), this DOES work.

One would think it'd be simple, but so far . .  nothing.  I've updated all drivers and BIOS, downloaded and installed the Mosaic driver and such, but still . . . no change.

So, does this work? Or not?  And if so, how do you go about doing it?

Thanks in advance!
