Yoga 520 14IKB - can't set up two external monitors

Q: Yoga 520 14IKB - can't set up two external monitors

Hi, I have looked elsewhere at other similar posts which don't seem to have been satisfactorily answered. I want to connect two external monitors to my 520 to use in extended display mode. The first monitor is connected directly via the hdmi port on the 520 and is running as monitor 2. The second monitor is connected to the HDMI port in a Hootoo USB-C hub and card reader (model HT-UC008) which is connected to the USB-C port on the 520. The power light on the Hootoo is on but this screen is not detectable. I have reached out to Hootoo support in case there are drivers to download - their site is pretty shabby - but would like to find out more from Lenovo on this matter. Thank you, Thomas

Preferred Solution: Yoga 520 14IKB - can't set up two external monitors

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Is ist possible to connect two external displays over microHDMI. I know, normally you couldn't use them as extended displays because there's only one signal. BUT on the product page they claim, that it has a DisplayPort ("combo with HDMI?") and microHDMI. In my opinion it looks like there are somehow two output signals over the hdmi port, or does anybody know what this exactly mean?

A:Yoga 710-14IKB two external displays over microHDMI?

The product page is incorrect. The 710-14IKB has one micro-HDMI for one display. If you want a second display you'll need a USB display adapter.

Hi, I'd like to add a couple of external monitors to my Yoga 2 Pro, specifically the Dell u2515h model. This has dvi and hdmi in and displays at 2560x1440. Will the micro hdmi drive 2560x1440? How would I get the second external monitor connected? I've seen some usb3 - hdmi connectors but most seem to top out at 1920x1080.  How do do I get this to work without spending a fortune on connectors- I'd rather spend the money on getting a better set of monitors.  Should i I give up on the idea of dual 2560x1440? Should I go for two u2414h monitors, which would give 1920x1080 on each screen?  Thanks, Ian Brown

A:Yoga 2 Pro, external monitors

AFAIK the Yoga 2 Pro's built-in HDMI is version 1.4, which should be able to output 2560x1440 at 60Hz.As for a second monitor, you can look into a USB 3 to HDMI DisplayLink solution. Some of these support up to 4K. The biggest caveat with a USB solution is that the CPU will be under a fair amount of strain as it must handle the encoding of the video stream. This also means that while you can probably output 60Hz office and productivity work over the USB, any fullscreen games/videos will be very choppy.

I bought myself a Yoga 920 for my Christmas B'day and love it so far. Now I want to buy it things. I am a retired engineer, but all this new-fangled tech jargon has got me off kilter. I've been reading a lot of confusing things so I thought you guys might help me out if I ask nice. Pretty please. I want to buy my new baby a 27-inch external monitor:1) Does the 920 accept an external monitor's touch input? That would be too cool to hope for.2) Is there an external USB3 dock for the 920 hookup? Or does one have to wing it with an HDMI cable?3) What is this auto connect feature for external monitors that Win10 mentions? Does the Yoga have it and is it now standard on most modern monitors? Thank you for any info you got.

Hi.I'm using my X1 Yoga with a Onelink+ docking station and 2 external monitors on Display Port. The description of the docking station states that there can be up to 3 monitors including the system display. My X1 Yoga is always closed when I'm at home so that I'm just using the external monitors whereas 1 of them acts as the system display. In this case, could I attach a third external monitor to the VGA port of the docking station? Many thanks in advance.

So I read through a few threads and haven?t seen anything overly promising so I thought I?d ask.  Im trying to help a friend who started a new job. They gave him a Yoga730 15IWL.  He has no dock for it (and I wasn?t sure if the even made one for it).  The reviews I read about some of the recents docks working with multiple monitors didn?t instillConfidence.  He wants to run 3 monitors concurrently. I see there?s an hdmi port and a believe a display port. Worst case I?d like to get him up and running with 2 if that?s easiest. I contemplated getting an hdmi splitter but I thought that would only show the same screen to multiple monitors and not split the across all three. Any guidance/suggestions welcome.  Thanks

Hi all, I have a Yoga 260 and two external monitors.  It does not seem to matter how I connect them, USB, HDMI, whatever the thing with a square on one end and USB on the other, directly or through a splicer I can not get the Yoga to recognize the third screen individually (yoga has one monitor, plus 2 external monitors = 3). I go to display settings but it just will not recognize the third monitor at all unless I use HDMI out of the laptop in to a splicer then 2 HDMIs out and in that case I only get duplicates on the two external screens. Any suggestions about the best way to set up... as in "it worked for me when I connected USB to one monitor, then daisy chained that to a second one" or "it worked for me when I HDMI to one screen and USB to a second" etc... Thank you

My Yoga 710 laptop puts my external monitors to sleep once I connect them with a cable and adapter.  Each external monitor I have tried recognizes they are being plugged into a computer, because its display window will change from "no cable/computer detected" to "monitor is going to sleep".  The laptop, however, stopped recognizing that it is being plugged into an external monitor.  In addition to trying different monitors, two different microHDMI adapters, and three different cables.  I have worked with Microsoft, Lenovo, and Geek Squad to update the drivers and replace the motherboard.  Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?  This error began soon after I updated the laptop's drivers for a problem it had communicating with my wireless printer.

What resolutions and refresh rates are supported for external monitors (HDMI) on the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro i7 (59428032) Specifically, I'm looking at the Samsung 28" 4K Ultra HD Widescreen Monitor (U28D590D) [3840 x 2160] I've hooked up to my HP w2408h monitor (1920x1200) with mixed results (mostly unacceptable).  Most items (icons, images) appear quite large and cropped.  For some applications (such as the View/trim preview window in GoPro Studio) appear to be cropped to about 1/4 of the image (if you imagine an image split into 4 quadrents, only the top left is visible). I had hoped that I could use the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro both as an extremely portable notebook and a desktop (when connected to an external monitor, keyboard & mouse).  I'm beginning to doubt that this will work.

A:Supported external monitors on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

While i can't offer any insight on a 4K monitor as i dont have one myself, I can tell you that is works perfectly on a 25" monitor at 1920x1080, and everything looks perfect, exactly as it is when connected to my desktop. I'd suggest that after connecting the external monitor you enter the resolution settings, make sure the second monitor is set as 'Extended monitor' and that the resolution for it is set to its native resolution. Aside from that, if you're working with the Yoga's native resolution (3200x1800), then you probably have the DPI set to 200%, which will also affect external monitors, making some things look pretty bad. There is no magic solution for this case, either drop the resolution and lower the DPI, or.... as much as i hate to say it... get used to it... sorry. I personally dropped the resolution on my yoga and lowered the DPI, so i'm good both with the yoga screen and my external monitor when at home.

I'm unable to get my X1 Yoga to detect external monitors when plugged into the OneLink+ dock. This started occuring when my computer upgraded to the creators update. I thought I found a thread of others with the same issue (linked below), but it turns out I was waiting for a fix that didn't apply to me. I'm super frustrated right now. Stuff I've tried so far.1. Updated all drivers using Lenovo Service Bridge (even optional drivers)2. Installed the Fall Creators update preview (after being told it would fix the issue)3. Completely reinstalled Windows4. A Single VGA monitor5. A Single Display Port Monitor6. 6 different cables At this point I'm convinced there's an issue with the dock. There's a firmware update available for it, but you can't install it unless it is actively connected to a monitor (go figure).  When attempting to install, I get the code 255 "Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC" If anyone has any sugestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. It used to work perfectly, then about the time I installed the creators update it started getting flaky, now I can't get it to work at all. Previous thread I was following. Note that I'm linking to a post where they show the dock working (annoying).https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Windows-10-creator-update-breaks-Lenovo-...

I have a ThinkPad S1 yoga bought in Dec 2013. I have being using the mini hdmi to work of 1 external 1080p monitor these last few years and it has worked fine. I now want to add a new second 1440 x 2560 along side my 1080 x 1920 monitor for a dual monitor set up. (Mostly for spreadsheets, emails, web browsing etc.) I do not mind if one of these duplicates my laptop screen. I was going to get the onelink dock to enable me to do this however I am not sure if it will work. I know the resolution with dual monitors running off the dock is limited at 1200p. What I now want to do is use the mini hdmi on my laptop for one monitor and the onelink dock for the other, however I want to be sure it will work before I go and buy the monitor and dock. Alternatively I could buy an USB 3.0 to hdmi adapted to run the 1080 monitor and a usb hub for the extra usb's I will need. (I think the dock will use less processing power and would be a slicker set up so I imagine it would be better?) You?re  help would be appreciated as I have read there can be issues trying to get higher resolution monitors to work.

Hello all, As the Yoga 720 15'' has only one Thunderbolt port, with no other ports for connecting more displays, I'm looking for a solution for connecting two monitors through this single port. The problem is that the Thunderbolt 3 to dual DisplayPort adapters do not seem to be working on this laptop for some reason according to threads on this forum. (although it has the appropriate hardware I suppose?)I saw a solution using the Lenovo Thunderbolt Dock, but it's quite expensive... I thought to myself: suppose I have two monitors that supported DisplayPort daisy chaining, could I use this ability and connect them to the laptop? Connecting one monitor directly to the laptop, and then connecting the other monitor to the first one using daisy chaining. Like so:Yoga -> Thunderbolt to DispalyPort adapter -> Monitor 1 -> DisplayPort -> Monitor 2.  I couldn't find any info about this method (only that it is possible on the XPS 15 which also has Thunderbot with two lanes only...)  Have someone already tried this method? Or could try it? (pretty please... )Or could at least tell me if it is possible? I'm really looking forward to buying this laptop and this is the main reason that stops me...  Note: I am aware about the bandwith limitations. I plan to use only two 2K displays. Thank you!

supports external digital monitor via HDMI or Mini DisplayPort;supports dual independent displays;

I have the exact same equipment at home and at work and yet the resolution on my second monitor at work will not go to the 3840 x 2160 that I have at home. Both locations have:1. X1 Yoga (first gen, model number 20FQ002YUS) -- It's the same laptop that I take between home and work2. ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (model number DU9047S1)3. Two (2) Asus monitors (model number PB287Q) that go to 3840 x 2160 max resolution, connected to the OneLink+ Dock via DiplayPort cables I've been running this configuation with NO PROBLEM at home for the past 9 months.  So I recently purchased a new OneLink+ Dock and two new monitors for my work office and while one monitor will go to 3840 x 2160, the other will not go above 1920 x 1080, UNLESS, I use a mini DisplayPort cable from the second monitor directly into the X1 Yoga (bypassing the OneLink+ Dock) HERE'S WHAT'S BAFFLING: I assumed it was the dock and so I brought the one from home to work and found I had the SAME problem, suggesting it was the second monitor.   But I exchanged the second monitor for a new one and still have the same problem.  The docks are running the most current firmware. I'll send a gift card to your favorite coffee house if you can solve this mystery.  Thanks!

Over the last few months I've had around 7 different occurances of a monitor not displaying anything while powered on and hooked up. This has happened with multiple makes and models of monitors and also laptops, even the connections are different in some cases whether it be VGA, VGA to Mini display, HDMI, or HDMI to Mini display. The only similarity of all the occurances is 2 monitors were used while this happened. Each time I've replaced all the adapters and cords to see if that would fix it. The only thing that seems to fix it, is to switch the monitor out with another one. This happened after the founders update for Windows. All PC's are using Windows 10 64 bit. Any help would be appriciated on this!

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. Despite that, its battery life isn't good. It works about 3-3,5 hours in Chrome. In task manager I've noticed that Yoga Mode Control is constantly using 15-30% CPU and its battery usage is described as very high. After disabling it, I can't switch to the tablet mode and keyboard and touchpad don't turn off. Is there somebody who has Yoga laptop and experience similar problem?

A:Yoga 710-14IKB second SSD

Hi MichaelG4,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

There is only one port available to accommodate storage on this model.
Storage specification: M.2 slot,  2.5-inch, NGFF, 128 GB / 256 GB, SATA II/SATA III (Lenovo YOGA 710-14ISK/Lenovo YOGA 710-14IKB) (page 6 on the hardware manual)

On this model, an external USB SSD storage drive can be the most practical and useful tool for added files which is would also allow transferability to different work PC.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hello,  I have a lenovo yoga 520 14IKB, 120 GB SSD, 8 GB ram and NO HDD. As I recently had Wifi connection issues, I opened the computer to fix that (the cable popped out after a pretty rough plane ride). While in there, I saw that I had a SSD, as stated before. but I also saw that i have a unused space to put in another HDD/SSD. I believe that the SSD used in my system is a m.2 sata SSD (I am not  really sure as I am not really familiar with computer hardware), and it is located directly behind the connector for the 2.5 inch drive bay thing. The question now is wether or not I can simply install an HDD into that bay, and use it alongside the boot SSD to use it to store photos, documents etc. I should probably also mention that in sopace of a harddrive or 2.5 inch ssd, there was a "ciuya hdd dummy brk" in the drive bay. I hope to get quick answers, Thanks.

Price ?1099.90 The problem is the keyboard. It has the Spanish leter on it. In my Dutch alphabet we don't have that. Filled with excitement I wanted to order it online. However, it does not exist here   Does anyone have an idea how to get it now? Kind regards, Kees

Hello, I came here to ask Lenovo Staff for any feedback. Week ago I've bought Yoga 710. After few days of use its front left corner went up, it became unstable on flat surface. Pads aren't the problem and everything is fine if notebook is closed. I left it open with some book to keep it flat over night to see if it helps, it did but only for a while. I've search through this forum if anyone had such issue and Lenovo Support members claimed several times that it should be returned as this is covered by warranty. Sides are stiff and solid but the whole front is pretty much flexible. I could flex it myself but this can damage internal parts which I'd like to avoid. So I took pictures, contacted local Lenovo Support (Poland) about it. Surprisingly they've refused to help by claiming that this is "cosmetic defect". I've asked twice, told them about statements here and I don't blame them, but there's clearly some misunderstanding. Here's the picture of how it looks like. It would be great if someone could clarify why I can't receive warranty service while I read here others did.  I still have week to return it to store but this model (with Kaby Lake) isn't available anymore so they can't replace it for me and yet it's not their fault. I'd like to keep it, stay fair and have my issue resolved. Best Regards, Simon. o/
