Preferred Solution: T470: 4 gray spots appeared my screen. (Top left, Top center, Top Right) and (on Center)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Yesterday I was playing a video game called Dying Light in my Dell 5558 i5. Paused the game for like 15 minutes to eat and then come back. but looks like the game was frozen, mouse wasnt moving, could not minimize the game, or do anything, so I decided to close the screen of the laptop with the hope that it will turn the game normally or at least run the windows again.
but the screen didnt close, it didnt put on sleep. (I know it was a stupid move)
so I force shut down the pc, and when start it up, more than 3 little dots appeared on the bottom left side of my screen.
it looks like its hardware problem.. how to fix this? I dont have this laptop more than 6 months and is kept in a good shape, no direct hit, or anything..

I had a paper jam in my printer so I removed the drum/toner unit to unjam the paper when I accidently dropped the unit on my desk. This let toner spread everywhere. So I took my spray dust remover and sprayed it off the desk and sprayed the bottom of the drum and inside the toner area in the printer. Since then, the printer prints random light gray spots all down the left side of the page on every page printed and only on that side of the page. I did the "clean page" to the printer with no results. Any suggestions?

The monitor displays garbled pixels in a vertical column about 200 pixels wide down the whole height of the screen just left of center. It comes and goes but mostly it is getting worse. The desktop computer it is attached to is new but the previous computer had the same problem. The warranty just expired in August and I want to know where I can get it fixed or is it something I have to fix myself? I am not a service technician but it looks to me like there is something loose. Sometimes, if I press on the monitor it starts working properly. Once I even banged the monitor and it started to display properly. I do a lot of video editing which is partly the reason I purchased the monitor because it has a high resolution. It would be expensive to replace. I can't seem to find any authorized repair center. The place a bought it from (London Drugs computer department) says they don't handle repairs but since it is out of warranty they won't handle it. I'm getting frustrated because I can't actually seem to contact anyone at HP. There are no phone numbers anywhere on the HP Support Center.

I gave my laptop for repair of my fan which was giving very weird sound and then I got call back, which I could not attend. They left a message for me to call them back with a number. When i called on that number it got redirected to general voice mail. I asked them to connect me to the reapair center personal. Now the main headache starts. They can't connect me to the center. All they can do is that they can generate some ticket/requiest saying that those personal need to contact me. Even after calling three times, I haven't got call back yet. Also, as that person has sent me a voice mail, he must be waiting for my answer and certainily won't call me back. So, now my laptop is going to be in the facility for forever and i need it by 14th Dec, which won't happen. I don't have any medium to reach those people, nor those hp customer service people. As their policy says, if they can't contact me in 3 business days, my laptop will come back unrepaired.  And, also it will miss the delivery date of 14th.  Worst service support ever.  And worst part is that evevytime I call them, each person says I don't see any ticket assignment by anyone to get you call back. Unbelievable. So what, they just say whatever they want to say without doing anything.

I've just installed ATA center and a lightweight gateway on one DC.  I logged into the ATA console and tried swapping the IP's of the ATA Center and ATA Console.  After saving my changes, there was a message about waiting for the gateways to sync
the new config, along with 2 buttons.  I think the first button was to apply the new config, but it was greyed out.  The second button was "revert".  After a few minutes, the first button never became available, so I tried reloading
the page.  Now I can't get the console to load on either of the 2 IP addresses.
When I try to open either IP in IE, I get "this page cannot be displayed."
How can I get the console back?
Edit: Looks like the ATA Center service is failing to start.  In Event viewer, I see 4 events each time it tries and fails to start, with the most relevant/informative event being HttpEvent ID 15005:
Unable to bind to the underlying transport for 10.x.x.x:443. The IP Listen-Only list may contain a reference to an interface which may not exist on this machine.  The data field contains the error number.
Looks like maybe it's trying to bring up ATA Center on it's original IP, but the console has already taken over that IP.
Any suggestions?

I had to purchase it then, even though i already had it prior to the upgrade, and so i do not feel i should have to pay for it once again, especially since i saved the Product Key the second time!

Hello everyone. So I just got the Xbox 360 COD special edition. I'm checking out all my features on the Xbox. There's an option to somehow connect your computer to your Xbox. The requirement is to go through the Media Center. Well, first time starting up the Media Center on my computer, and I'm not able to get the Media Center to open. I receive an error right on startup of the program. It ends up generating a crash report, and closes. I've take 2 screenshots of the error. The first screenshot is of the first error that comes up upon opening the Media Center. The second screenshot is of another error I get when I choose to cancel instead of clicking ok on the first error. I thought getting the most information to you guys would be the best.

I run Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2005 Service Pack 3.

Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks a lot

I'm currently on a laptop so I bought the Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 Pro (usb soundcard). I really wasn't paying attention since it was plug n play, but when I tried to adjust the equalizer it wasn't working (in the Creative Console). So I go into the windows "speaker setup", and only the Front Left and Right will have a sound coming out of them individually. When I play music, all the speakers have sound but it's not as powerful as they were on my desktop using another soundcard.

I'm using the Logitech Z-5500 speakers. Everything is plugged in on the subwoofer properly, and I have tried the 6ch Direct AND Optical. Both have the same issues.

Like I said before, the Creative Console has no effect on my speakers whatsoever. Any ideas?

A:Rear Right, Rear Left, Sub, and center speakers won't work?

Ensure the default audio device is now the Creative USB card. The speakers should be connected to the USB card. And the speaker configuration, setup, and testing can be done in the Creative software.

Hi everyone! For the last moth or so, my screen has been off-centered: I have a 1-inch black bar on the right side of the screen, and the image continues for about the same distance under the screen.  Changing the resolution doesn't help, and all the related drivers are up to date.  I guess that on a desktop computer I could've gone through the screen's settings to replace the screen, but of course a laptop doesn't have such external buttons.  The problems only occurs on the laptop's built-in screen; when I plug to a TV through an HDMI cable, the image is just fine (no difference between extend screen and duplicate screen).  Anyone has an idea that could solve this problem? Here are my specs:Thinkpad SL510 LaptopWindows 10 Pro 64bitsIntel Core2 Duo CPU T6670 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHzMobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset FamilyScreen is detected as a generic Plug-and-Play monitor Thanks,Marc

Hello QcPilot,
Thanks for joining the forums.
Try to download the Chipset and Video drivers from the Lenovo support site.
Other than that, a factory reset may also help, or at least rule out any software issues.
Note: Please back up all your data as running this reset will delete any data on your machine which Lenovo cannot be responsible for. 1.  Turn the machine off and press the recovery button which is located usually next to the power button. If you have a desktop machine you will need to power the machine back on and keep tapping the F2 key. 2.  Use the arrow keys and press enter on system recovery. ( Desktop users can skip this) 3.  Select ?restore from the initial backup? and then ?Next?. 4.  Click ?start? and accept the warning messages. Length of time can vary depending on the speed of the machine.
If the above doesnt work, then this is likely a fault with the cable in the unit, something may have got shifted, or simply an issue with the panel itself, in this instance, it`s best to call your local Lenovo support line. Link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

New here so please be gentle. (not to computer literate either)

I just bought a new monitor, now that I got it started up it seems like the screen area is messed up. There is a black line on the left side of the screen a centimeter or so wide and it travels vertically along the entire screen. Same problem on the left side, except slightly smaller.

If I use the controls to adjust the width and length it just moves the visible portion of the screen "through" the black portion.

I tried my best to explain what I could, any help is appreciated.

When I got this laptop I had Catalyst Control Center when I right clicked the desktop, but when I installed a new driver it changed to AMD VISION Control Center. I didn't really notice anything different other than that.

Is it suppose to change like that, did I download the wrong one or have the wrong one in the start? I did the automatic scan and manually put the information in but they gave the same results.

A:AMD VISION Control Center / Catalyst Control Center = Same Thing?

That's their new name for CCC. They probably had to change it because CCC was associated with ATI.

I have an annoying problem.. I have multiple 27 inch monitors for use with stock trading and autocad use.. When I'm not actively working and not trading stocks or doing autocad work, I turn off my other monitors (save energy) and just use the one in front of me..
The problem is that sometimes my mouse cursor gets lost on one of the inactive monitors and I have to move the mouse in big concentric circles until I see it appear on my main screen.

Is there an "F" key or other keyboard way to get the mouse into the center of Monitor No.1 ????

I've got Vista Media Center (x64 Ultimate) installed on my machine, and it works great. Specs as follows:

Asus A8N-SLI-Deluxe
Athlon64 3800+
2Gig Ram

74GB WD Raptor on Nvidia slot as IDE

Now, I went and purchased another license for my Media Center, it was XPMCE. The specs follow:

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum BIOS revision 1.D
Athlon 3400+
6600GT Latest 64bit release drivers
2Gig Ram
250GB WD SATA on the Nvidia controller as IDE

The MSI platform installs perfectly and does everything but run Media Center. I can run it, but it shows up as a black screen. I can hear the startup sound though. I've gone through numerous reinstalls, but can't get past this issue. Anyone know of a fix?

Well i have been having problems watching live TV and recorded TV in Windows Media Center. Originally i was seeing a codec issue in event viewer so i removed the codec and the associated piece of software. After it's removal event viewer had a different issue whenever it would crash SQL Server (MSSMBIZ) so i dissabled the SQL server as i don't use outlook or anything like that on my HTPC. So now when it crashes event viewer say the crash was unexpected (No sh*t it was unexpected) I have the dump file set up but since it is not a blue screen o death but a black screen total lock (needs manual reset on case) there is no dump file created.

All TV blue rays, DVD's and media play perfectly fine in TMT5.

All drivers are up to date.

System can take 2hours to stop working or 5 min never consistant.

Currently to get around the problem is i record TV in media center then watch the file using TMT5 but that is really annoying as i only have TMT5 so i can watch Blu-rays in WMC so is kind of bass ackwards.

posted this in media center didn't get much response hoping you guys can help and if the solution is re-install windows i think i will just throw the computer in the garbage.

My husband just purchased this HP PAVILLION A1473W for my birthday 4 days ago. And it has some annoying habits. My biggest hurdle at this moment is the Windows User Log In Screen.

This stupid box loads up before windows Asking for my user name and password. To which I just have to Press Enter and then it loads.
But I don't want to have to sit around and babysit my comp while it loads up... Waits for me to press ENTER and then "loads my personal settings"

There is only myself as a user on this computer so I don't get why it keeps asking me this. How can I shut it off?

I have never had this issue with any of my other PC's.
Thank you for your time.

This is a mobile DJ computer I'm talking about with a 9500 GT PCIE graphics card. We use the 2nd output in dualview mode to play quicktime videos on the projector which is effectively monitor 2. I have the desktop background set to black and qukcktime set to output just full screen video to monitor 2 then the player snaps back to monitor 1 when it's done so it's a pretty slick system...except that every quicktime window opens like 15 pixels down and 15 pixels to the right compared to the last one which means eventually one opens partially on monitor 2 and then the whole crowd can see it on the projection screen.

I have the latest full graphics driver installed with Nview but I poked through the options and it appears to only let you modify where dialog windows open, not all windows. I thought I remembered there being a way to disable that cascading opening feature in Windows XP from waaaaay back when Tech TV was Tech TV and it was the daily tip. I think it was a registry hack. Anyone know that or another way to force quicktime windows (and I suppose other programs and folder windows) to only open only on monitor one or always in the center of monitor 1?

Currently the scaling option on my video card is set to "Centered Mode" however I would like to change it to "Full Screen Mode". Basically what's happening is, whenever I click on "Full Screen" in the ATI Catalyst Control Center and click on "Apply". My screen turn black for 1 second then automatically reverts back to "Centered Mode".

My goal is to set my screen scaling option to "Full Screen".
I would like to add, that I am running Win Se7en Ultimate 64bit on the following hardware :

- AMD Athlon TF-20 (1.60GHz - Single Processor)
- 4GB of DDR2 RAM
- ATI Mobility Radeon X1200

thanx in advance !
Please download the following file, save to your desktop, then check it out

What are your thoughts ?

If you need more information, please don't hesitate to ask me
Again Thank you, I hope to be able to get to the bottom of this, perhaps it's not a huge deal, but I remember in the past, on Win 7 Home Premium 32bit, I had no problems changing the scaling option to "Full Screen". In fact If I remember correctly It was already set to "Full Screen" as default.

A:ATI Catalyst Control Center will not allow Full Screen

Hello Jordan,

First, what is the file behind your link?

Second, have you updated your video card drivers? Try downloading the latest ones from the manufacturer's site.

When I play World of Warcraft or Minecraft, the mouse cursor sometimes resets to the center of the screen, causing issues with turning my camera or character. It appears to happen when a game removes the visible cursor from the screen, such as click dragging the camera on world of warcraft, or causing sensitivity issues at all times on Minecraft. This does not happen at all otherwise, including other games that do not hide your mouse cursor. I have read that NVIDIA shadowplay can cause this effect, but it still occurs when it's turned off. I once found a method to go into registry to disable "hooking" that shadowplay does, but I can't find it. I would love to try and see if that works, but I can't remember how to do it. Thanks in advance.

Within the last month, an issue has arose in opening my Media Center. Very slow to open, takes 2 to 3 minutes to open and begin to select options. Norton pops up a warning that the program is causing very high CPU activity. I use it to record TV mostly. Each enter command may take 30 to 45 seconds to complete. I try to get a show programed in, but if it takes over 2 minutes, screen goes black, and monitor power light flashes as if there were no signal. Have to shut down and restart entire system to get monitor signal.

It will do the same if I start to watch live or a recorded shows.

No other program causes this issue. No other video issues I've come across.

Is there a process where I can re-load the Media Center program only, or will this require a system wipe and re-load. I have the software for re-loading the entire system.

hey RICO04,try reinstaling the touch panel drivers that is available here :http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819.Since the touch panel is not working, plug in a usb keyboard and mouse to get it done.

My problem is several icons ( rank insignias, squad leader numbers, supply parachutes) suddenly appear concentrated in the center of my screen, in an area about 1/2" square. They all appear, overlaying each other, at the center of the screen over my gunsights so I can't aim accurately. Then it's either bring a knife to a gunfight or disconnect.

I only have this problem with my Diamond 3870 video card.

I have two PC's, one OS is XP Home, second is Vista32. Same problem with the card in both computers. Game runs fine in both machines on my 8800GTS.

I have tried the latest 8.4 ATI drivers, Omega and NGO drivers.... problem persists.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

never mind... I am so disgusted with this card. Getting constant ATIKMDAG errors now. I will get rid of this card and buy another 8800GTS. ATI loses a long time customer....

So I wanted to check out what Media Center is, so clicked the icon, and I either get a black screen (and can see mouse pointer)and can hear a logo appear (I'm guessing that's what the noise is) or I get a batch of errors. I tried to go to Event Viewer to look at the error and I'm not finding it.
Here's what the error screen says:

Warning: No valid focus target found. Input from a keyboard or remote will be ignored until focus is restored to a valid site.
File: <no filename info>

Everything is current and updated. Any ideas?

My brother uses an old Windows XP Media Center, which has been running fine for about 3 years now. The last time I remember dusting inside the desktop was about a year ago.

Just yesterday, however, it refuses to operate. I would turn it on, and everything seems fine. However, it gets to the screen where you see the Microsoft logo, with the loading bar right below it (it's the screen right before you see the Welcome screen w/ all the users), and then suddenly the blue screen pops out for 1/2 a second, and the PC restarts.

I let it restart for about 7 times; crashes at the same exact spot. I tried to do a full recovery, but it failed with an error of some sort.

Right now, I'm assuming somehow the hard drive died... But is there any way to confirm? Thanks for any help!

Did you get a BSOD? If yes, were you able to get the error?

Also have you tried Safe Mode? If it works in Safe Mode, have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

Hello everyone. So recently my windows media center in Windows 7 (build 7100) 64bit started to make my 42 Samsung Plasma TV flicker when initiated (42" Samsung Plasma Model PN42A450). I have it connected with a VGA cable from my Nvidia GeForce 260. When I use a windows media player or VLC player the flickering does not occur, just when using Windows Media Center. Funny thing is if I use it on my main monitor (Westinghouse 19") it does not flicker. The flickering has occured two days ago, before that it was working just fine. I did not install any software during the two days or any hardware, just windows updates. I already updated my drivers for the video card and firmware for my tv, and that did not solve the issue. I uninstalled any codecs and that did not solve the issue either. I am completely out of ideas at this moment on what to do. Any ideas? Thanks, Tomas additional info: the flickering only occurs when I extend the display in screen resolution setting. When I make my Samsung the only one displayed the flickering does not occur.

I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit hooked to my LCD TV using VGA and get 1080P. It has been working for over 2 years. Now when I execute Media Center I get on my TV screen black screen with TV generated message of "Not Supported". My guess is Media center must be coming up in some other resolution. I searched this forum and most proplems with VMC not working are due to compatibility with TV tuners.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

my acer aspire one netbook sometimes boots with an off center screen to the left with the right half of the screen black. this happens about one time in ten in a random manner. I updated the video driver, same problem. the only repair was a new keyboard.

A:Acer Aspire One Screen off center on boot

If the image is off-centre only until Windows starts, it has nothing to do with the third-party driver (since the driver doesn't get loaded until Windows starts). Or have I misunderstood you, is Windows off-centre too when it happens? If it doesn't affect Windows I wouldn't worry about it.
