Preferred Solution: Windows 7 BSOD, only happens when i try to open origin

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Lately I've had a few issues with my computer, it got slower, and some games didnt install properly due to directX errors. So after looking at some forums for battlefield 3 directX errors I read that uninstalling Origin would be a good idea to fix the problem. While that was going on, first the mouse stopped working (keeping in mind it does that sometimes without there being a problem with the computer), then the screen froze entirely. It came back for a few seconds afterwards, then it froze again and i got the BSOD.

It was set to automatical reboot, so I couldnt read what the error was.

Now the problem I'm having is that, when I start the computer I get these options: Start computer in safe mode , Safe mode with internet, Safe mode with leadtext or whatever and Start windows Normal. Which ever I choose will fail.

Choosing the Normal startup will cause the computer to get stuck on the windows login screen with the wobbly win logo.

Choosing the Safe mode (with and without internet) causes it to stuck, it seems to not be able to load some files.

I've tried running the repair windows option, but the screen went black and nothing else happend.

Hi, can someone please help as EA aren't helping me!

Origin was working fine until yesterday. Then it came up with this error code:

The procedure entry point _except1 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program\Origin\Origin.exe.

So I uninstalled Origin, several times and followed EVERYTHING they told me to do, manual uninstall, do it with no anti virus etc. I even tried to download from a third party website, which did progress more in the installation but still failed with even more error messages!

I have had Microsoft access my computer and they have also tried everything and have confirmed that nothing at all is wrong with my laptop (which is what EA was trying to say).

Its really frustrating now and I hope someone can help please!

I have a Toshiba laptop and I am running windows 10.

It was compatible with windows 10 as it was working for a week or so. It did keep crashing but I changed screen resolution and was fine.

I will appreciate any help, Thanks!

Hi, i am new here, sorry if i am violating some rule, but my problem is urgent, because if this problem is caused by my new HDD i need to send it back to Amazon. So, let's talk about my problem:
I have my PC since 2011 and never had problems, in May my hard drive is gone and i had to buy a new one (This: Western Digital WD10EZEX Caviar BLUE 1 TB), yesterday i was downloading a Linux distro using Internet Download Manager, i went to the kitchen and when i back to the PC i had a BSOD, i thought it was only a case, so i just rebooted and tried to download again and no problems. This evening, i was download a game in origin, happened the same thing but i forgot to make a photo... and now i am here, someone can help me?

Attacched you can find my log, thanks in advance.

I Have 3 partitions in my HDD (4 if you include Windows extra partition with 100 MB) 1 for Windows, 1 for Linux Mint and one for general data

A:BSOD While downloading (Don't Know if is due to origin)

There are no dump files.

Follow these instructions and choose Small Memory Dumps.

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Make sure you don't use any software cleaning programs like CCleaner for the time being as they can remove .dmp files.

Check in these directories.
C:/Windows/minidump
C:/Windows/memory.dmp

Minidumps can be compressed in a zip file after being copied to the desktop then uploaded to Seven Forums directly.

Kernel Memory Dump (memory.dmp) requires being uploaded to a file sharing website like OneDrive.
Then post the download link in your next reply.

It started happening after the Nvidia display driver auto-updated. I rolled back to the older driver version with a clean reinstall. The frequency of BSOD decreased from once per hour to once per day. The zip file is attached as advised to help with debugging.

BTW, Avast thinks that the zip file making exe is a virus.

A:BSOD playing Dragon Age Origin

Hi DKSSG & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I am really sorry for the delayed response. Every one of the BSOD Analysts are very busy with life

Unfortunately, the ZIP file does not contain any Dump files and there is no event in Event Logs as well that a dump file was generated. Kindly follow the below guide and make sure that your system is setup for generating the dump files (Minidump Files) -
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD - Windows 7 Help Forums

Also, see if you are able to find any dump files at the path - "C:\Windows\Minidumps". If there are any dump files, kindly ZIP them up and upload with your next post.

Does the BSOD occur only while playing Dragon Age Origins?

And regarding the Zip File making EXE a virus, that's a false positive

Heya!

I seem to be getting the BSOD when playing games, most recently during a game of Dota2.

When the BSOD does occur my computer hangs and a weird, electronic - it's hard to describe - whining sound comes through the speakers.

I've run the SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe as per the instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

A:BSOD Unable to determine origin

Hi bickas.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall the program at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
I would suggest you to uninstall Viscosity Virtual Adapter V9.1, at least as a test.

So I've just purchased NFS Hot Pursuit(the new one) from the Origin client. Right after the purchase I get these weird lines appear on screen(small maybe a couple pixels straight across the screen). Then I get a BSOD and a restart. I think it may be because of MSI Afterburner, but if that is the problem I need to use a different software that can support custom fan profiles/settings for my GPU. Greetings fellow inhabitants of the sevenforums!

Since installing BF4 and Origin I have been getting frequent BSOD. Initially I didn't get BSOD, only crashes of the game. After a few patches however the BSOD appeared, often it happens the first time I try to start the game and after that I have no issues with the game for some time, and then eventually it may also crash at the end or after playing for a long time. It has also crashed before I've even tried to start the game, but somehow it's always in conjunction with when I'm going to start the game, and the only thing I have just done at that point is joining a skype call. I don't quite know what to make of it.

I'll provide the minidump files shortly, but before that I'll list the things I've tried so far.

1. Reinstalled Origin and BF4.
2. Ruled out an overheating CPU. (It did however actually overheat twice, but it was only those two times and I have since fixed the issue.)
3. Ran a check on my RAM (and they are fine).
4. Updated my graphics drivers

I suspect it may still be a driver issue, as I recently noticed in one of my BSOD that is said something about an error in nvlddmkm.sys. I have also had some directx errors which did not cause BSOD, but it only happed a couple times while I was playing BF4. Something I read somewhere made me think perhaps it could have something to do with the register, but I can't remember and really don't know.

I was just about to try a program called Driver Fusion and see if I could sor... Read more

My computer goes to bsod every 30 minutes or so after every restart. The bsod simply says "system_service_exception". It doesn't have any error numbers following it.

My computer has been hanging about 2 or 3 times a week without generating a blue screen. The mouse and keyboard fail to respond (including Caps Lock and Num Lock keys). On rare occasions such as last night, I will get a BSOD. I am uploading my files in accordance with the posting instructions and am hoping that someone can give me some insight as to possible resolutions. I have had several issues since purchasing this computer and have almost reached the point of sending it back to the manufacturer (which would result in me losing all my installed programs of course when they wipe the system), but would like to attempt fixing the issues one last time. In addition to the BSOD files, I have added my Event Viewer Logs to this posting.

Thank you to anyone whom can assist in this matter.

I've gotten the BSOD three times over three weeks for no apparent reason. I haven't installed any new hardware or software recently, either.

When I ran my report, it said 44% of my events were missing and that I should investigate it. I have no idea how to do that, unfortunately. It also said that I have no anti-virus, but I do (Avast!).

I have attached my System Health Report and filled out my System Specs to the best of my ability. I am no computer tech, but I'm not a noob, either. If you need anything else from me, please guide me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any help!

A:BSOD 3x in 3 weeks, unkown origin, error 0x0000003b

All three say a system service got bugged out by the same exact instruction attempting to use an invalid memory address to read memory with. The faulting service was AWWService.exe, which is part of Ad-Aware. I reckon this is in conflict with your Avast, as it's not wise to have two AV engines running simultaneously like this as they could trip over each other. You can try and update both Avast and Ad-Aware, but the best thing to do is stick with leaving one on (preferably Avast) and leave the other off, only to use it for the occasional scan.

Hi all,

Before I start, I have resolved the dump file 042415, which was a PSU issue. The other two were the ones I have been getting, namely ntoskrnl.exe error. in the blue screen it said machine-check exception.

I have all the updated drivers. just installed windows 7 again (to fix the previous nvlddmkm.sys issue). New power supply too.

It happened first time while playing Batman - Origins, I was initially testing to see if I would get the nvlddmkm.sys error, which usually happens within 1 min of the game, it was going fine for like half hour until i got a new BSoD error. The second time was just watching a game promo video on steam.

Again due to fixing the previous nvlddmkm.sys error I've done desk checks (chkdsk). memory tests etc etc. Just for additional info.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Peter

Welcome to 7F.

Two of your dumps are 0x9C which are no longer supported from Vista upwards and should be treated as a 0x124. 0x124 is a hardware error, but rarely give us any information to work with and the 0x9C gives little information in this instance.

Monday night after returning from work, several problems cropped up on my computer all at the same time after I restarted it. My computer had been running somewhat slow before then, but virus scans didn't detect anything wrong. Here are the problems that I've been having since I restarted my comp:
The first thing I noticed was that my monitor's resolution changed from its standard 1024x768 to 800x600, which made everything appear big and wouldn't fit my wallpaper properly. Also, all my icons were reset to their default positions. I managed to fix these problems and my screen resolution and icon arrangement has stayed normal, except from when I tried a system restore.
My computer has been running very slowly, far more so than before Monday night. It seems like it takes five times as long to load anything (programs, web pages, etc.). It also takes far more time than normal to restart my computer (it even failed to reboot once, and I was forced to unplug and replug my computer to get it to start up).
Whenever I scroll down the page in any window (in IE, Word, Frontpage, or any other program, it does so slowly and there's this weird "ripple" or "wave" effect to the scrolling motion. It does this whether I use a window's scroll bar or my mouse's scroll wheel. Also, a similar problem happens whenever I drag a window across the screen.

Okay, the title sounds vague, but I can give more information.

I am currently running Windows Vista on my HP Pavilion laptop. About a month ago, I started having an issue when Vista launched. After all of the pre-load process had finished executing, I got a message that said that Windows Explorer had stopped responding, and was restarting. Then a whole slew of programs and Windows services went through the same process. Everything from McAfee to my touchpad management software either restarted or stopped all together, and then the computer rebooted.

Now whenever I start up the computer, I still get the same problem with the following two processes: Windows Explorer, and Task Scheduler Engine. The computer does not go into a forced reboot anymore.

Certain programs have not worked properly since. The most notable are IE, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. IE behaves like I have no active connection, and I can't sign into either of the messengers. Oddly enough, Firefox works just fine - no problems connecting to the net and opening pages.

As I am the only one who uses this computer, I have no idea where this could have come from.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

My thread was closed and I was told to follow the new instructions which I had read already. I am using Windows Vista 64bit and DDS is not compatible with this OS. I did a GMER scan only being able to select the three default options and results turned up with zero results and no log.

Here is the original message for review unless there is another set of instructions for 64bit users.

I have been testing a small application called Alpha Blender which enables me to set windows transparency case to case. I originally did a single file scan on Bit Defender and Kaspersky and both came up with clean results. However, I just used TotalVirus file scanner and it came up with the results below:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/6...994-1243064377

Do these results mean that I do in fact have a keylogger on my system tracking my strokes? I am using BlackViper tweaks minimum config so I know it may have helped. Just need insight on weather or not my passwords may be compromised.

I have attached an HT log for review. If any more information is needed I can help.

No, not necessarily.

Programs, often do not produce the desired results on 64 bit systems.

Lets do a couple of scans to make sure you are clean.

Please do the following:

As a Vista user I will require that all the programs I ask you to run, be run by right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. Otherwise some programs may fail to operate correctly

Download OTS**to your DesktopClose ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
Double-click on OTS.exe to start the program.
Check the box that says Scan All Users
Check the box that says 64 bit
Under Additional Scans check the following:File - Lop Check
File - Purity Scan
Evnt - EvtViewer (last 10)

Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

Hi all!

Just starting out on this forum, so I hope you can help me out.

I have a program installed that uses a dll. Recently, I started getting the following error message:
"The application or dll xxxx is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." (xxxx being my dll path and name; message translated from french, but I'm sure you'll recognise it, I've seen the same kind on the forums elsewhere)

My issue is not to replace the dll, I know it's not corrupt, but it is in a weird format, which might explain the message.

However, what I'd like to know is why windows is suddenly so worried about this dll, and if there's anything I can do to simply tell windows to ignore it. At which point does windows decide to check this local dll? (the program is installed locally in it's own folders, nothing in system32 or elsewhere)

Hope you can help me out!

Thanks in advance!

A:origin of message : "xxx is not a valid windows image."

Generally this error means you got the wrong version of the dll installed. IE you are running XP and installed one for Win98 and the one for XP is slightly different.

Sometimes this is a path issue and all you need to do is to copy (not move) the DLL and put it with the others in System32

In addition there are a few specific problems which cause this type of error
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907300

Autocad also has a similar problem for which there is a patch.
So please be more specific.
Is this just one dll? If so what is it?
What application and what consequence?

You should also try reregistering the dll
using your example
go to start / run and type
regsvr32 xxxx.dll
hit enter and wait for it to say success

My McAfee Security Center spotted it and took it down, so I guess I'm okay. The question is, is there a way to find out where it comes from? I do not open unsolicited email attachments, do not go to porn or gambling sites, use a strong password, keep my firewall up at all times, and so forth, so I am not doing something stupid. I do go to a lot of sites. Is there a way to tell which one has this trojan lurking?

Attached are the requested reports from the Preparation guide. (attach.txt, DDS.tct and RootRepeal report.txt

My system was already equipped with AVG antivirus, Malwarebytes, and SpyBot Search and destroy.
However, this morning my computer was acting extremely sluggish so I started Malwarebytes. As was killed as soon as it started. I tired to start it again but is received the windows message stating that I do not have permission to run this program.
The same thing happened with Spybot and AVG.

I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reinstalled. Then I rebooted in safe mode and ran malwarebytes which found a bunch of problems that were quickly fixed.

I rebooted into windows (not safe mode) and installed Spybot S&D. After install it will not run Update. I manually update from safer-networking web site download. Spybot did not find any problems.

Then I try to reinstall AVG free 8.5 (build 409 - 8/7/2009) but I get and error during installation..

Then I tried to install 30 day trial of Kaspersky but after installation the software will not run...
