IE blank page problem on company network but works fine off company network

Q: IE blank page problem on company network but works fine off company network

I have an interesting problem that has been driving some pretty smart IT guys nuts. To perform my job I have to access a certain venders web pages that has security set up that I do not know all the details of. Anyway on the company PC using the company image that is a normal XP image and maintained by Comp U Com.

Any time I access this vender's web page it works fine until just after the log in screen. Once I put in my user name and password and click Ok IE just goes blank white and that's it. No error msg no nothing, its not locked up as the frame is still there and the world is turning but nothing else.

This happens on all the company PCs accessing this particular vender's web page as I went and checked. So I wanted to see if it the problem was in the PC or the network. I took the company PC home and was able to successfully log into that vender's web page from my cable modem at that house. Worked fine.

I have already added the vender web pages to the trusted zone and enabled all the active X and everything, deleted the cookies, tried some proxies etc. Every setting that can be done on the PC I have tried.

My question is what is the company network security system blocking that IE needs to work and how to resolve?

Preferred Solution: IE blank page problem on company network but works fine off company network

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Oh and to add this I loaded FireFox and from the company PC on the company network it logs in fine but FireFox will not display the page correctly and all the buttons do not work right so that is another issue.

I would like to get IE working as that is what these pages were written for

My question is this: A laptop comes in with the Cryptowall hijacker which only hijacks the drive of machine its on and it is only connected to wifi to update malwarebytes or similar apps.

Is the company network at risk of infection or would this only be if the laptop was put on VPN and drives were mapped?

Does a hijacker of this sort run wild on a network or just on the hijacked laptop?

A:Company Network at Risk??

yes it is at risk

I get a BlueScreen every time I connect my computer (Dell M6300, Windows 7 Ultimate x64) to the company network at work. This happens with the network connection being wireless or wired! Also it doesn't happen immediately but takes from a few seconds up to several minutes until the blue screen comes. If I don't connect to the company network the system runs without any problems. This issue is perfectly reproducible. And until the system crashes the network connection is working. It also doesn't matter if there is activity on the connection or if it is idle.

At home I can connect to my home network (wired and wireless) without any problems or crashes.

So I recently got my business laptop for work and am in a hotel room somewhere in Ohio. I'm not connected to any proxy related to my company or anything, just whatever service they offer here. My question is: Is it possible for my company to track my internet activity while i'm here. Could there be programs on my laptop that send them information about what i'm doing somehow? I traced a connection to gmail.com and it didn't go through any of their servers. I know they can check my laptop for files if i'm connected to their network or bring it in, but can they trace my activity from the hotel room connection?

The reason I ask is this is my first job and I'm not sure if I should use this computer for recreation (Like surfing WOW.com and forums in my downtime) and if they can see where I go from here.

Thanks for the help

Yes and Yes

There could be hidden software installed on the computer that "calls home" whenever the computer has any kind of working internet connection. It could be reporting back things like what programs you are running and the URLs of each web page that you visit. It could also be logging your activities to a file when you are not connected and then sending the log when you do connect. It may also report any attempts you may make to find it or block it.

Check with your own manager or the company's IT manager about company policy regarding personal use of the computer during and outside of working hours. Then use the computer as if the manager is looking over your shoulder.

Hello. I'm a desktop analyst and I need access to a remote PC on our network. The user has disabled remote access to his PC.
I need to see files on that PC and I planned on using \\domain\computername c$ but it says "could not connect". That command works on other PC's here, but not the one in question.
What can I do to enable access so that command works?
There is staffing changes being made and I need to do this without the end user knowing.
I have full access to AD and all servers here, if needed. Thanks for your help!

A:How to access an end user's PC on company network

I had an issue with administrative shares (C$) on our company network, I fixed the access issue you have described by going into the 'Network and Sharing Center,' selecting 'Change advanced sharing settings,' and turning on 'File and Printer Sharing.' Then I took a new Windows 7 Enterprise image for deployment that included this fix. To be safe, I added a command to enable this feature as a first logon command in my sysprep file.

If you can either physically access this machine or remote desktop into it you should be able to do this. If not, you can try using the following command from psexec as long as remote registry is enabled:

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new enable=Yes
That same code will also work in a sysprep file, which is what I was referring to earlier in this post. I set it to run as a first logon command to be sure that all of my machines have this enabled.

Hi guys! have not been here in years. I have a question has me baffled and i'm sure its not complicated; the answer that is. Ok; Tracert to google.com and first hop is to a /8 address and we all no that is a private address class A ( after the first hop it goes to the cable co server with a valid routabe ip . if I tracert to the default gateway it goes one hop directly to the default gateway whice is a public or cable co server; valid ip address. if I tracert to the dns server first hop is to the private address then the sequencial hops are to vallid cable co servers to the dns server. same thing whith the dhcp tracet first hop is the this private private then on to valid cable company servers to the dhcp. Ok what is with this (not the acutal address my modem is bound with ) the neighborhood are configured the same (modems)... Can anyone explain? I hope i correctly posed the question. Thank you Ray

A:Cable company network and private

I'm having a little trouble understanding what your question is.

Your tracert to google.com sounds correct.

Your tracert to the default gateway doesn't sound correct. If you do a tracert to the default gateway, you should only receive one hop. This communication will never leave outside your internal network, so you shouldn't see any hops to your ISP. Your default gateway is an internal device to your network.

Your tracert to the DNS server also sounds incorrect. Normally (I'm not sure if this is a home network or not), your default gateway will also be your DNS server. If it's not, you normally still would have an internal DNS server. If for some reason you have an external DNS server (possibly using Google's DNS servers or somebody else's), then this would sound correct. But only if you are using an external DNS server.

I'm not sure what you mean by
dhcp tracertClick to expand...

If you mean doing a tracert to your DHCP server, then this isn't correct. Your DHCP server will be internal to your network. This communication would never leave your network, so you would never see any hops to your ISP.

As stated before, I'm not sure what you are asking in your last part.

I'm new to these forums so I'll start off by saying hello and hope you're all well!

I'm not new to networking, however I'm no expert, but it does interest me so I'm trying to specialise in this area.

Right, I'm in the process of getting together a plan to redesign the network for the company I work for, we're a small scale operation of about 30 computers. Here is the current hardware/software we have:

Cisco 515e Firewall
BT Business router (manufactured by 2Wire)
A few mid range boxes to act as servers

Microsoft Server 2003 Standard
Microsoft Exchange 2003

We plan to use a total of 3 servers, a file server, domain controller and exchange server. I'd like to know some example configurations using the above, all 30 machines will lie on the same subnet so nothing fancy there.

One feature in particular I like is the web interface of Server 2003, allowing access to email through exchange and remote control of the pc's on the intranet via remote desktop. The problem we've found in the past is with the Firewall now allowing us to directly connect to the computers, I hope that this feature will help. My knowledge of Cisco configurations is very limited, but I'm sure this setup can be done securely.

Help with this would be much appreciated! And though I'm not a particularly advanced user on this subject be as technical as needed since at the end of the day I need to learn properly!

I work for a company(lets call us Company A). We have what I believe to be a secure setup.

There is another company(Company B) who has moved into one of our unused buildings. This building networked so any machine configured to access our domain can get onto the network. Company B is only there because a senior manager in my company is good friends with a senior manager in Company B so they came to some "mates agreement".

Part of this agreement is that Company B can access the internet through our network. I do not believe this to be a good idea as they need to go through some of our servers and we know nothing about the IT setup in Company B. My main concern is that this potentially leaves us exposed to some some sort of attack that we can not prepare for. Another issue is around who is responsible for providing supportin this arrangement. My thoughts are that my company takes priority over any issues Company B has but they will not be able to resolve all issues without our assistance.

It's also worth considering that we spend quite a lot of money to prevent people from accessing our network. I dont understant why we would then freely give access.

I'm also concerned about who is to blame if this goes ahead and there is a security breach. To be honest I know the blame will initially fall on me so if I get overruled I'll not do anyhing until I send an email to all senior management outlining my concerns and get somebody to confirm that this is... Can you segregate the connection or connections from company B so that all of their traffic is on the Internet side of any firewall or internal routers you are using?

Here is something that may help you to convince management to have company B get their own broadband connection. With a shared connection, if anybody at company B were to get involved in any shady activity, such as illegal file sharing, it would be quite likely that your company could be on the hook for any fines, lawsuits, or worse.

You may also want to check the wording of any contracts you have with your Internet service provider and review their terms of service. They may prohibit sharing the connection with other companies.

At my work, we are upgrading all computers from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (roughly about 12 computers total). So far 6 of them have been upgraded successfully with not network issues. There is a company domain in place. After upgrading the 7th computer, a Dell Latitude E6410, to windows 10, I cannot access the shared drive on the network. I can connect to the network, see shared printers and any shared workstations, and can even access the internet, but cannot connect to the shared drive. When attempting to do so, the message about missing network protocols come up. I have tried a few suggested fixes but cannot fix the issue.

Any ideas?

Well, I've split my Access DB and it turns out that I am a little disappointed in the speed between the Front End and the Back End over my company's network. I was under the impression that a DB set up this way would be more efficient to use.
The Back End is in a shared folder in Philadelphia, I am in Chicago, and the location farthest from the server is in Seattle. How do I improve the response time of the DB across our network?

I know the closer the back end is to my physical location the faster I am able to run reports and navigate through the DB. I've been testing this all evening and night, but even in the middle of the night the application portion is still very sluggish and that's with no one on the network.
Back End:
On my desktop = Extremely Fast
On our Local Server = Moderatley Fast
Farther than the Local Server = Very Slow

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

I tried to connect a cable from the switch to port on Linksys RV016 but no success. I also, tried to connect a cable from one of switch one to switch 2 (not sure if I should be doing that) but still no success.

The instructions that came with the switch don't provide any way of setting up, it just lists info about the configuration and what each settings means.

Can anyone assist?

I am using XP. My wireless network is using the "G Wireless Modem Router3 by Belkin. It is running unsecured.

The network normally runs adequately - there are annoying moments when it just seems to freeze, but 30 seconds later it comes back to life.

Yesterday it was performing as usual (ie adequately). Today I cannot connect to the internet at all, either with IE or Mozilla (my normal browser). When I look at the network status all seems well - it is shown as connected, and the signal strength is "excellent". But the efforts to connect just time out: Mozilla says that "the connection was reset", lets you "try again", but it never connects.

I have AVAST running in fully protected mode. I decided to run Malwarebytes to check for anything unusual. It asked if I wanted to update the virus database - I agreed - it then hung, presumably because it could not make its connection! I ran it again, this time refusing to do the update, and it completed a Quick Scan reporting no problems found.

I disconnected from my network, and connected to a neighbour's unsecured network, and everything worked fine.

I switched my router off and on and tried my network again - same problem.

I tried doing a "repair" on the connection (by right clicking on the taskbar icon) - this operation rarely seems to complete normally on my computer. It frequently times out with a message like "unable to connect", but when you then examine t... Read more

When changing to company domain, drives are no longer mapped with an error 1909.
Tried disabled Windows firewall but this did not help.  Also disconnected drives and tried remapping them to the interface.
Still getting error 1909.  When I return settings to WORKGROUP network status, share drives are accessible.
There are 3 other interfaces running Win7 on the network that I switched to the domain and were able to connect to drives.
Please advise with any new options.

Hey Everyone,

I'm currently trying to get my wireless working on a new w7 install. Since the fresh install I've only installed windows updates, Firefox 11.0, and XBMC. I did all this using an Ethernet cable. I've been trying to get wireless to work, but consistently get Limited or No Connectivity. I tried googling around and tried quite a few steps, but the only progress I made is to find that it works in safe mode with networking. I've tried disabling the firewall, and eliminating all non-microsoft startup programs.

I know the network and adapter are fine as they work on my other w7 computer. Any suggestions on what to try?

Why should I get an SSL Certificate when my hosting provider has a shared one? Where can I obtain a private SSL certificate for my website?

A:Shared SSL Certificate by hosting company - is that fine?

In simple terms, a shared SSL certificate will validate the ownership of the domain name of the server that is hosting your web site, not your web site. That domain name may be something like serverfive.hostingcompanyname.com and not www.mydomainname.com.

Depending on the browser's security settings of a visitor to your site, their attempt to access any secured pages on your site may be simply blocked because of your domain name not matching the one in the certificate. A slightly lower setting may notify them of the conflict and give them the option of blocking your site or viewing the secured pages. A much lower setting would display the contents without any warnings. It is up to you to decide how much confidence a visitor has using your site on a shared certificate.

Personally, I would visit a site using a shared certificate that only wanted some very general information about me. On the other hand, a web site better have their own certificate if they expect me to give them credit card numbers and any other information that could be subject to identity theft.

You hosting company may offer certificates to their clients for a nominal fee or you could use a company like Verisign to obtain your certificate..

Hi Guys,

I have a peculiar problem which I hope will be resolved by the experts in the forum. I have a company web page that opens on the Internet but not through the the company WAN. Can you please let me know what needs to be done so as to view the web page on the WAN Internet?

Thanks in advance.

A:Company web page does not open through WAN

Is the webpage hosted on the WAN?
Most likely what is happening is that the webserver is set up to serve the page on the external internet ip.
But when you request it from inside the WAN you're accessing it off of the internal wan IP so the server doesnt know what page to give.

I have a certain website selected as my Home page in IE5.

Recently, my company has been forcing its website as the Home page, even though I have it set to another site.

I find nothing in the Registry that sets it to "their" website - how are they doing this?!?

I did notice when IE5 boots up, there is a message something to the effect "downloading <A HREF="http://www.theirwebsite.com"" TARGET=_blank>http://www.theirwebsite.com"</A>

I'd like to be able to disable this so my selected Home page stays there.

I am not sure if this is correct forum to post my issue....but here it is:

Currently my company website (fwww.akeweb.com) is registered with company called abc.com. Within abc.com i access the account info and I see that there a setting for fakeweb.com under Web Services that point fakeweb.com to an ip address (assigned to one of statis dsl lines) the ip forwarding is setup with option as "Use Simple DNS" entry.

My company has the main website as www.fakewebinc.com hosted with a different company. The hosting account contains a setting that will redirect from fakeweb.com to fakewebinc.com.

My issue is that when I am at work logged to company domain, I type www.fakeweb.com and I get error message about web site not found. When I go home using my home pc I type www.fakeweb.com and I get redirected to www.fakewebinc.com.

Is this problem related to network issue such as access blocking, ip address issue, or something else?

A:Company Network, Website, and Website Redirection

I have a differnt problem, I click fakewebinc.com and I cannot get there, but I go to fakeweb.com and it works.. hmm..
A few things:
- Make sure you have a dedicated IP
-Once you have found that you do, and what is is, go to domain management and edit the A record to that IP, and you should be good.
I think that is your problem. I am not 100% sure, I could be wrong. Wait for someone else to reply.

I am having a really difficult problem at the moment...
I am an IT Tech and all our pc's work fine on the network AND Internet.
I have a clients laptop with me, it works perfectly on the network but NO internet what so ever. I done numerous virus scans, Malware removal etc but with no luck sorting the problem.

Also, if it helps, when I try to repair the wireless connection "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the followng action cannot be completed: Disabling wireless adapter" also previously, same error message but something about the DNS when repairing the wireless connection. the drivers are up to date. Realtek RTL8187. I have configured it manually including the correct DNS.

Also if i try to disable programs to run on startup through msconfig while in the Administrator account it tells me i do not have administrative rights, even though the account does.

Need to get this sorted asap, without a format.

I just got a brand new computer with wireless capabilities. After some configuring, i am connected to my home network, but i cant connect to the internet that is set up on the host computer. i have already checked all the settings on my computer, disabled the firewall (because i have windows xp sp2), and reset the router twice. i am just wondering what else could be the problem. could the local area connection have something to do with it? please help.

A:Wireless Network Works Fine, But Cant Get On Internet

How did you attempt to hook up so far? Did you try this:

start > control panel > network connections > wireless network setup wizard
Or this on the host computer:

start > control panel . network connections > setup or change your work or home network setup
Run the wizard, choose "This computer connects directly to the internet. The other computers on my network connect to the internet through this computer"

Wait a minute. Upon rereading your original post, I need to know what you are using a router for. Is it a wireless router? If so, then your new computer is not connecting to the internet through the 'host' computer, but rather through the router.

I shall await your answers.

I have three laptops I've tried to connect to a Motorola SBG900 cable modem. The two laptops with XP Pro connect to the modem and internet with no issues. The third laptop with Vista Home Basic will connect to the model but won't connect to the internet.

If the Vista laptop is connected to the model via USB it will connect. If connected with either LAN or wireless, the connection is local only.

I've tried the following:

Entering IPv4 IP address
Entering DNS server address
Turning off the firewall
Reset WINSOCK entries
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults
Disabled the IP Helper service
Disabled IPv6
Disabled the DHCP Broadcast Flag

none of this did anything

Finally I tried turning off the Avast Network Shield and it connected. One of the XP laptops has Avast too, but it didn't have the same issue.

A:Vista Local Only Network (XP works fine)

Clearly, there is a configuration or compatibility issue with the Avast product. What is the question here?

I have three desktop computers here (two with XP, one with 2000) One of the XP machines had a whack of spyware and viruses (which I'm currenty trying to deal with in another thread). It hasn't been able to connect to the network for a couple days. This morning, my main PC was fine. As of now, none of the windows machines will connect to the internet, yet my little Mac here is working perfectly. Can I assume I have a network virus?

This is the other thread that has my hijack this logs and some more explanation of what I've done already, in case it's helpful at all.

A:Home network - pcs cannot connect, Mac works fine

Macs don't tend to be bothered by most viruses, as they are mostly written to mess with Windows machines. Sounds like whatever got your first machine got the other windows machine also.

I recently purchased a used C2525E Kyocera color MFP to use as my sole printer for a home business network. I am having printer issues. We have a dell laptop and desktop PC running Windows Vista and they print just fine to the new Printer/Copier. The issue is that my Toshiba laptop -64 bit (running Windows 7) thinks the printer is offline (on the network). When running diagnostics, it says the printer is turned off. Now when I hook up a USB cable to it, the printing works as it should.

Unfortunately, this is not the solution to my problem. I need to be able to "Scan to PC" images from the scanner. I don't think I can do this through a USB connection.

I have not contacted Kyocera or Microsoft about this as of yet. One will just push the blame on the other (I have been down that road before with different manufacturers ). I am not a computer guru by any stretch and am an absolute novice at networking.

I haved tried:
dropping firewalls
changing network ports on the router
changing network cables (Actually found a bad one)
printing through something other than Microsoft Office apps
removing and reinstalling drivers (many times)
All computers show up on the network, so the router is identifying the Toshiba
Confirmed I am printing through the TCP/IP
Confirmed the copier setup with the network IP address. (it works on the Vista computers..... grasping)

Is there a way to "ping" the printer through the Toshiba? Remember... novice... Unfortunately I know, ... Read more

Everything is fine at my main 'home' network. Whenever I take my laptop to another location - could be Starbucks, hotel, friend's office, does not matter - I can receive email on Outlook but I cannot send through it. It gets bounced back. I can access the internet perfectly on these 'remote' connections and can receive email through outlook - just cannot send. It has to be an Outlook setting or something. I have emails on multiple hosts, all with the same issue. What is up? This is making me a bit crazy.

A:Outlook '07 works fine on "Home' network

Is your SMTP address provided by your ISP? They may well be blocking connections from external IPs.

To get round this you could sign up for a GMail account and use those account settings along with GMails SMTP server to send e-mail.

A:network works fine. but no connection icon in taskbar

Is this a wired or wireless connection? It's probably a second network adapter that isn't in use right now.
Post the following.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

My desktop is connected to my router via cable. And it randomly gets disconnected from time to time. I've tried re-installing drivers. I get the red X on my network icon in the taskbar, which usually happens when a cable is unplugged. I fixes it self after a minute or 2, its never longer than 1 minute, usually 10-15 seconds, and it happens ever 10-15 minutes.

My wifi works fine, and I have a vonage box connected to my main router which works fine too. It's just my desktop. I've tried different ports, same problem.

I'm heading home in a few hours and I've picked up a new 5 meter cable to check with.

What else could be the problem if the new cable doesn't fix it.

My network adapter is the on baord one on the Asus Maximus Formula.

A:Network randomly disconnecting. Wifi works fine.

Seems to be something wrong within the cable or could be the network card within your pc? Did you try the cable on any other pc or that?

I am running Windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I am using a wireless router, broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated, for my home network. My router is connected to a computer running Windows XP but I never had a problem with compatibility before, I've been using these computers together for a long time.

My Network Connections in my control panel is reporting the the network cable for my LAN is unplugged. However, the main computer is reporting that it works and there is even a green #1 on the router indicating that the wire is plugged in. The main computer also shows a yellow blinking light where the cable connects to the computer indicating that all is fine on that end.

I need to re-establish my LAN in order to use the printer from my laptop. I don't understand why it says the network cable is unplugged. I've never had this problem before and just noticed it yesterday.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem.

If I plug in to my router directly I can browse my workgroup, access all shares without a problem. When I disable my onboard LAN card and enable wireless, I can't browse my workgroup or even ping the other computers by name or IP on my network.

I can browse the internet wirelessly, ping the router and the IP and subnet are the same when I'm using wireless or wired connection.

I removed and added client for MS networks, file and print sharing, removed all wireless security from my router and it still does not work. I don't know if its my Dell wireless card or an OS problem and don't know what else to try.

Any ideas?

A:cannot browse home network through wireless, wired works fine

On the pc that giving you trouble open this:

click on start
click on run
type: cmd
type: route print

See if it can see your network or your router when you connect wired or wireless?

click on start
click on run
type: services.msc
scroll down for wireless zero configuration make sure that's enabled

also look for network connections and make sure that's enabled
also computer browser is enabled
make sure xp firewall (built-in is disabled)

So I am attempting to connect to the wifi network at my girlfriends place, which I have done fine previously, but my laptop cant find it at all. I have tried restrarting my laptop, installing new drivers for the atheros wireless adaptor, resetting the router, but it still wont show up. It connects fine to other (older and newer) devices, and works fine when connected via ethernet cable, but it is hardly practical to sit on top of the router all day.

My laptop detects other networks fine, such as those of the neighbors and connects to my own home network fine. I have also tried deleting the saved network and manually connecting to the network while also checking the box about connecting even if the network is not broadcasting its SSID. Still nothing. I also checked power management settings and made sure it the network adaptor was using max performance power settings.

Previously when I set up their router, it was broadcasting on a single channel between 1 and 11, cant remember exactly which, and I have no reason to believe they have changed it.

A:Cant find specific Wifi Network but works fine with other devices.

connect by ethernet and have a look at the name and channel- it could be using channel 12 or 13 which is allowed outside the US but your PC is using channels 1-11 if US based setting

look at the SSID name and if indeed set to broadcast

I have seen that issue a few times - although xirrus usually shows the channel

all those signals are very low

whats the name of the wireless signal at your girlfriends
and where is that xirrus screen shot from - your girlfriends ?

I have a Win 7 system. Everything was working, until a few days ago, and then the Ethernet connection stopped. The activity LEDs work, but the Ethernet will not connect. The Wifi works fine through the same router as the Ethernet is plugged into.

Here is what I did so far.Rebooted PC (full power cycle)
Rebooted router
MSCONFIG to disable all unknown services and apps
Replaced Ethernet cable
Tried a different port
Confirmed Ethernet driver is latest version
Deleted Ethernet driver anyway and reinstalled
Reset IP Stack
Set TCP/IPv4 to static IP and defined the DNS server
Confirmed the adapter's advanced settings were correct
Connected to a USB Ethernet adapter that I know works (and has worked before on this PC)

Nothing I did in the above list worked - Ethernet does not connect. The activity LEDs are working. The Network Connections shows a plugged-in Ethernet as an Unidentified Network.

So for some time now I have had intermittent network issue while booted into Windows 10, ping my gateway (router) fine, ping dns names like www.google.co.uk, www.unixmen.com and www.microsoft.com all work fine. Ping my ISP DNS servers fine however if I attempt web browsing or application updates all fail with no internet access.
I have tried ethernet and wireless both results are the same across two ISP providers Virgin and BT.
If I reboot to Linux and attempt all above I have no issues at all so this is a Windows issue for sure.
I have attempted to investigate this myself and had limited success with Dr Web Cureit! which reported probably DFH.HOST.corrupted but I believed this to be a false positive due to my modification of my host file to limit Windows call home etc.
Note: All has been working fine regardless of host mods
Anyway I allowed Dr Web Cureit! to fix , rebooted and low and behold all worked ok (this is no longer the case).
So I am struggling to identify the cause of this issue and would very much appreciate your help here please.
