I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have found that our battery is not charging.  We now need to have the laptop constantly plugged in to make it have power.   Sometimes when we turn the computer on, as it doesnt hold enough power now to go to sleep mode that it has an error message displaying about the battery and needing to do something about it but it always moves to the next screen too quickly for me to understand what the issue is and what to do about it. Can you please point me in the right direction on how we can resolve this issue as it is annoying.  The minute the power chord comes out of the computer, the power is lost. Regards,Kellie Anthony

Hi Lordofcyberpunk, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion g4-2212tu Notebook and battery not charging. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet and into the computer. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery. Here is a link to test the ac adapter. Hi,I bought an HP Pavilion G6 notebook only a couple of months ago, and I have had this problem from the beginning. I have looked at some other forums and it seems like a lot of people have had the same problem with the laptop being plugged in, but not charging. This problem is really frustrating, as the laptop is plugged in to the power source, and into the laptop, but half the time it isn't even registered as being plugged in. The battery gets drained. Once or twice the battery has fully run out (whilst plugged in) and then been charged to 100% next time it was turned on(???!!!!).Please tell me if this is some kind of programming or software fault, or if it could be a hardware fault. I have run the battery checker several times and each time it has not found any problems with it. As the laptop sometimes recognises that it is in fact plugged in (but doesn't charge) I personally suspect that it is not a problem with the power adapter.PLEASE HELP ME!Thanks.(Sorry for the long message)

Hi, You can help us help you by posting the following information. 1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see This HP web documentif you are not sure that you how to locate the model number and\or product number. 2.  The complete version and name of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ). Go into the Device Manager. (type device in the search programs and files box and click on device manager as seen in the following image) Expand the Batteries device. Right-click on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select uninstall. Do the same thing with the Microsoft AC Adapter device.    After you have uninstalled both devices ,then you can right-click on any of the devices in the Device Manager and select  and click on scan for hardware changes.  When you have done that, the operating system will reinstall the drivers for both devices.

I have a problem with my HP Pavilion notebook, the notebook is not used frequently and it's just out of warranty. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and I am not sure if that has caused the problem, may be just a coincidence?
The problem is that the battery is on 0% charge and displaying, "0% available plugged in not charging."

Because the battery is on 0%, could this be the problem? I read somewhere that if the battery goes completely flat it will not take a charge from the notebook charging system, is this correct? Or any other ideas would be appreciated to get it working again.

This laptop is brand new. The past few days, when I plug it in to charge, i get a messae over the battery icon saying "pluged in, not charging". I have read that this is in fact a software issue dealing with Windows 10 and I have tried multiple times to imlement solutions involving the Device Manager. The only thing I haven't tried is actually removing the battery because I do not think this particular HP model can be have its battery removed by the user. I would really rather not have to exchange laptops especially if it is a Windows problem, is there any way you can help?

i have been using this laptop for 2 years i get it from my friend .

from start it always charges battery upto 56 percent.

and i thought that there is problem in the battery cell and in few months battery backup becomes very short.

Yesterday i bought a new battery for my laptop but it is giving me the same problem which i had with my previous battery.

So this is not battery problem.

Things i have tried

1)Removing battery and uninstalling windows ac adaptor from Device manager.

2)Removing both battery and power Adaptor and pushing the power button for 20 sec if there is any residuel current.

Nothing has worked for me so far.

I would be thankful for your guidance.

Thank you

My hp laptop is not charging when it is plugged in. When I plug my laptop into power it will read that it is connected and not charging, first I thought that it wasn't plugged into the wall I checked and it was, I then tried the same charger on a different machine a hp chromebook and it charged fine, I then tried a new charger on the laptop that wasn't charging and I got the same problem. Both chargers work on other machines and display the same not charging message.  I then went through a restart and reseat of the battery to no avail. The only thing is is that I came back a few hours later and the laptop had charged up to 95% even though it said it was connected and not charging.  Yes  I verified that my battery is not part of the recal program.  The hp suppport assist is saying that my battery is OK and should be fine.  Is this a software problem or a hardware problem, probably my battery? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

So my notebook suddenly wasn't able to charge when i plug it on the wall. I call the support, they tell me it might be the charger.  I wait 1 week, they send me a new charger. Still nothing.  I wait 1 more week for them to come and take it (they wanted to pack it in their own special box), and then 2 more weeks for them to fix it.  After a total of 4 weeks I got the laptop back yesterday, they sent a paper saying all they did, which included changing the plug of the computer, where it connects with the charger. I then happily plug it on the wall, and guess what, it doesn't charge !!  After 4 weeks of waiting, while a civil engineering student heavily depended on the use of a laptop, they sent it back and it is NOT charging !!! This is ridiculous, i was forced to go buy a 600 euro new laptop (not an HP of course after all this), and i am now fighting to get my right in repairing my 1500 euro HP laptop !! I contacted them again, they said: "we will come and take it again and have a look at it, it will take probably 3 weeks" .  I have never ever experienced a worse customer support or treatment in my life. A total of 7 weeks to fix a laptop's charging problem, when i depend on the use of it every day at school, is to say the least unacceptable. I am living in Denmark, i expect an answer regarding all this from an authorized HP person.

Hi all,
I bought a notebook three weeks ago for my wife, specifically a HP 14-an009a. It had Windows 10 pre-installed. It worked perfectly for a couple of weeks, but an issue has cropped up with the battery. When it is turned on and connected to the charger, the battery icon will say "37% available, plugged in, not charging". The actual percentage does vary, depending on use. I have tried all the various fixes (e.g. "Uninstall/reinstall Microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery" in the device manager and battery out/in, run off AC only then plug battery back in, etc), amongst others, but to no avail. The notebook will charge perfectly when it is switched off, however, with the little orange light on the side illuminating. It will turn white, however, when the machine is turned on (but not charging with the AC connected). Obviously, there have been several updates (including the big "anniversary one) since the purchase. Does anyone have any ideas how to rectify this? The battery is OK, and the charger works fine. There is no HP power control software/bloatware on the notebook either which could be causing this. I have changed power plans, and everything that I know of! I can only assume that the battery control driver (after an update) is overriding the charging when the notebook is turned on. Does anyone else have this issue? Please help.

A:Charging Light Problem- Hp 630 Notebook PC

Hello MG mate a lot of the LEDs used for the charge light actually change colour so say for charging they will glow yellow for example and then green for fully charged.

Now depending on what sort of LED/s it is either means you have to replace the charging one or the whole thing as some LEDs work on circuitry that will change the colour depending on the stored charge ie volts and theoretical available current.

this may give you an idea on what I am saying https://www.sparkfun.com/products/105? &

Light-emitting diode - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Having said all that to replace is no mean feat you need to be able to disassemble the machine and from experience those LEDs are very small. For what it is worth my friend I would just accept that the fully charged comes on if it doesn't well something is wrong either with the battery or adaptor

Oh by the way I meant to mention my Toshiba's show me when power is hooked up too so in effect I have three LED indicators on the machine

Recently bought an HP Pavillion laptop (model 15-au106na) and noticed that the battery does not charge unless the laptop is switched off. At the moment, have to charge the laptop up to 100%, use the battery then charge it again while the laptop is off- which can be a bit of a hassle when you need to use it for longer than what the battery can do on one charge.  Seems odd but was wondering whether this is how HP laptops are being built nowadays? Have tried a couple of component health tests, both via the HP PC Diagnostics UEFI and the HP support assistant, battery tested fine every time. AC Power test would not work but the AC adaptor can't be broken if it is still charging the laptop when off. Also carried out a number of restarts, uninstalling/updating Microsoft ACPI control compliant method battery etc as noted in some of the other forums but still no luck. Any help/advice/knowledge would be much appreciated.

I typically keep my laptop plugged into AC power whenever I'm using it, and transport it in Sleep mode with the lid closed whenever I'm taking it on a trip.  The laptop is 4 years old and the battery isn't holding a charge as well as it used to, so it'll go from 100% down to ~50% when it's in Sleep for maybe a 6 hour trip.  I just moved to a new state and left it in Sleep mode in my laptop bag for more than 24 hours, which (presumably) took the battery down to 0%.  Now that I'm unpacking and back up and running, the indicator in the system tray constantly reads "plugged in, not charging" with 8% battery (but it was 9% yesterday).  However, the laptop powers off immediately whenever I unplug it from AC power, even with the lid closed in Sleep mode.  I've tried several different outlets and a spare charging cable but can't get the battery to start charging.  I know the battery is old and may need to be replaced, but I suspect that it could also be a software or sensor failure because the battery drained while it was in Sleep mode maybe?  I've tried a few other troubleshooting steps online (cleaning the battery contacts and reseating it, updating battery drivers, removing the battery from Device Manager and rebooting) but nothing's fixed it.  The laptop still runs fine on AC power with the battery removed.  Any ideas to try before I give a replacement battery a shot?

I have a friends HP Pavilion DV4000 laptop, it has been dropped but there is no external physical damage, but it has stopped charging in the normal way.
When I was given the laptop it was completely dead, it had in fact run the battery completely flat, a fact that not forthcoming until I had stripped it down looking for any signs of obvious damage or broken connections etc. which I didn?t find.
I purchased another DV4000 off Ebay with a damaged screen, having used the hardrive from the original and connected to an external monitor everything worked fine including the charging, the battery now back to 100%.
The original laptop screen was reattached and all was fine picture perfect everything running as it should, almost.
The problem I have is that the AC adapter will only charge and run the laptop when an external monitor is connected to the VGA socket, disconnect and it reverts back to battery only, considering the screen and inverter are the only components used from the original I assumed that there may be a problem with the inverter, I found another screen assembly and replaced that, and the problem is still there.
I now have Two DV4000 laptop?s which I assume have the same fault, the hardrive & AC adapter are the only two components that are shared, both work very well apart from the need to connect them to an external monitor through the VGA socket in order to get them to run and charge the battery.

I have been have problems with my DV4000 charging, it would charge only if I connected a external monitor to it, it was using that circuit as it earth source, you only had to connect it with no power.
It turned out to be the AC adpter socket, there is a tiny micro switch inside the socket which is opened when the adpter is plugged in, in my case the switch was damaged and wasn't switching as it is surposed to.
The laptop was taken apart and the socket unsoldered and replaced with a new one, approx £15.
hope this is useful to you all, thanks also to Colin from : http://www.truestate.com/hprepair/ a really helpful genuine Guy.

This is a very common problem with laptops in general. People first suspect and replace the AC adapter, then find out that the DC jack (in the US) is bad. Some of the DC jacks are on a separate cable, and some DC jacks are soldered onto the motherboards. I have a Toshiba Satellite with a soldered DC jack. This jack cost $42. The laptop has to be completely disassembled

Hi, Yesterday when my laptop displayed low battery, it did not seem to recognise the charger when I put it in and kept coming up with the low battery alert, but the charger light was on.Assuming the charger was faulty I took it into the PC World/Currys where I bought it and a member of staff there told me that the battery was indeed charging but for one reason or another was just not displaying this on the screen and he showed me that taking out the battery and holding the power button for 10 seconds should normally fix this up. After that, all seemed back to normal - charger light on, and charging display on screen.A few hours later at home however, the laptop again needed charging but when I plugged it in this time, there was again no recognition of a charger and moreover, no charger light. I tried the trick he showed me but it did nothing, so I left it off for an hour after which, all worked like normal. However again today, after signalling low battery and inserting the charger, the charger light started to blink and did not display charging symbol on screen. When I tried reinserting the charger a few minutes later, there was no light whatsoever. I left it off for half an hour and returned with a friend's identical charger and turned the laptop on to find the battery was now half full. It seems to have charged for the short time I had it in despite no charger light or on screen symbol.I'd be very grateful to find out where exactly the problem lies, the batt... Read more

A:Problems with charging HP Pavilion g6

Here is a solution that has worked in the past, so it's worth trying.

1. Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, and remove the battery.

2. Hold the power button for thirty seconds.

3. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.

4. Boot the notebook up and see if the battery will charge now.

Let me know if that solution works for you or not. Best of luck!

My Pavilion x2 was shutting down without explanation. We discovered that my tablet was not charging when plugged into the main charge port. I have to disconnect the tablet and plug the power cord directly into the tablet for it to charge. Then when unplugged and reconnected to the keyboard, it loses it's charge fairly quickly and the computer shuts down. I have seen many discussions on this board pertaining to this issue. Is a fix available for this problem?

Hello @MajidAli1, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! The forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I read your post about the battery issue, and wanted to assist you!  I understand that the notebook does not seem to be charging. The issue seems to be related to the battery.  It is possible that the battery may be defective.  If you remove the battery, will the notebook run on the AC Adapter alone?  Try reviewing the following document, and let me know the results: HP Notebook PCs - Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Hi, I'm Eline from Belgium and I have a problem with my ASUS ux32v notebook pc.

When I want to charge him, I have to bend the charger in order for my laptop to connect with it. I have already broken a charger by bending it too hard. At first I thought there was something with the charger so I bought a new one, but the problem is still there. I have checked the charging port but the little pin is still there and it's steady (I can't wiggle it).

I do have a history of problems with this pc. One time I accidently broke the screen after putting it in a backpack along with a lot of other stuff. The screen is fixed now. Another time I accidently broke off the pin from the charging portal, but it was replaced afterwards. I don't know if these previous problems may have any effect on the problem I'm having now.

I hope you guys can help me, I'll be eternally grateful if you do
