I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Perhaps the resolution being set by windows 8 is too high for the screen to show on the laptop? Check device manager to see if there's any issues with the video or display.

Hello. I've read many posts about issues with black screens on the Yoga 2 Pro, and tried their solutions with no success. My issue is as follows: My Yoga 2 Pro flashes once or twice on start up, but no Lenovo Logo is visible. This occurs both when plugged in and on battery power. I can plug in a (Samsung) monitor via the micro-hdmi port and see the output display there, however the Lenovo screen connected to the laptop is still black. With the extended display, my laptop has turned into the tower and keyboard/mouse components of a desktop. I can drag applications between the two screens as if both were working. It's almost as if the laptop screen is not getting powered except that two flashes appear on startup. I've updated video drivers and bios software per Lenovo's support page.  Suggestions on solutions? Thank you very much!

Hello everyone,

I have been having a problem with my two displays for quite some time now. I was able to fix it at first by resorting to a restore point but, now I've done it again.

I am using a LCD tv as my main display with 1360*768 resolution. My other display is a regular LCD 21" monitor. I am trying to get its resolution to 1360*768 as well so, the monitors will match. My graphics software is ATI Catalyst 10.1
I have the displays set as "extend" but my 21" display does not show the extended desktop. It just shows a blank screen. It is receiving a signal but, it isn't doing anything. It will display the boot screen but nothing else.

At first the problem was that the 21" was not displaying 1360*768 correcting. It was displaying the extended desktop with a 3" black border all around. So it was basically showing a little tiny desktop. Now it doesn't display anything.

I've tried reinstalling Catalyst, resetting to default, and changing resolutions. Nothing is working and I do not want to revert to a previous OS state and lose some program settings.

A:Extended Display Not Working

Have you changed the refresh rate back after installing the ati drivers in desktops properties in the CCC? If its set too high you will have no options much with the screen resolutions. Try disabling the extended desktop and see if you can fix the no1 display and then re-enable the other one etc.
The black line maybe because you have aspect ratio enabled instead of scale the image to full panel size - desktop & displays - right click monitor, and click configure.
You can usually set aspect ratio / full screen manually using buttons on the monitor also.
Sorry if this is useless and you have already tried these things

Hello Everyone.

A friend recommended this forum stating that he has been able to resolve all situations here. I hope you can help me resolve mine.

I have a one year old Lenovo 3000 Y410 Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS.

I had set up a second DELL monitor (Model #E196FPf) from an old computer to extend the Desktop through the VGA port in my laptop.

Everything was working out fine. I was able to connect / disconnect the monitor throughout the whole year.

I decided to do a full system restore as the C: Partition was full of useless info and wanted to start off with a "LIKE NEW" Computer freeing up some space.

I restored the OS,then noticed that all the updates where missing so I downloaded and installed all of the required and optional updates with the Windows Update Tool.

The monitor now does not work.

I tried many things, updated the display adapter, un-installed and installed Monitor Drivers... I did EVERYTHING.

I noticed that after some rebooting of the system the Monitor would show the windows logo and startup but then it suddenly went black and the no signal error pupped up. It has done this various times.

I believe that hardware changes are not being recognized or the changes are not taking effect.

What else should I do!? Please help

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F25 with Windows XP MCE 2005 SP3, Pentium M 750, 2 GB PC4200 Ram, and an nVidia GeForce 6600 GO graphics card. I've had the latpop for a little over 4 years, now.

I am having a display problem that I believe is hardware. Each day, I can use the laptop for about an hour or two with no problems, then all of the sudden the screen will freeze and/or flash on and off(although the backlight does stay light). Once that happens, all I can do is a force shutdown by holding down the power button and even if I restart it, it will only last a few minutes before it does it again. When it freezes, the processor usage goes up to 100% and I can even see the mouse pointer moving in between the flashes and freezes. When it gets really bad, there are even problems in the display of the BIOS settings. The screen doesn't flash or freeze, but it mixes up the characters in some words. The problems will happen when connected to an external display via RGB connection also. One thing I notice, is that if I tilt back the laptop when it starts acting up, it "seems" to not be as bad and I will be able to use it for a little while longer.

Here are the things I have done already:
1. updated, rolled back, installed original drivers
2. stopped nVidia service and prevent other nVidia process like nwiz from starting at boot up
3. took the laptop apart and vacuumed out all the dust - it was pretty bad
4. disconnected the graphics chip and plugged it back into the m... Read more

One more thing; occassionally, I will get the blue screen of death after after freezing or flashing. The only thing I see in the Event Viewer that is related is an EVENT ID 1001, SOURCE Save Dump, that says that the computer has rebooted from a bug check. That one only shows up after a BSOD. Another event that occaissionally appears in the event log when the laptop freezes, is i8042prt stating that the ring buffer that stores incoming mouse data has overflowed. I assummed that is a result of me moving the mouse around while the display is frozen, but I could be wrong.

Hi guys

I have read quite a few forums to try and find an answer to my problem, however everything I have found and tried has not worked. Please read bellow and see of anything pops into mind to help.

I am extending my display to a Dell monitor and the screen wont fit the monitor exactly. I have tried all possible resolution options as well as going into the Advanced settings for the monitors display settings with no success (changing the monitors screen refresh rate - only the 24Hz option works). I have not tried to alter any graphic card options etc and took a screen shot of what I think the graphics card is, just in case it helps.
Another issue which I have noticed is that when moving my mouse left and right from display to display, it gets "caught" at the bottom of the screen but not at the top. I know its from the positions that are set for display 1 and 2 in the display options menu - as in the screen shot. Is there anyway to overcome this? Because when I move the screens around it still gets caught because of the different sizes of the screens.

I have attached an image with a few screen shots of all settings I have been playing with as well as a picture of the problem (Screen2).

I am using a Acer TravelMate 5740G laptop and have attached image (Screen1) showing the graphics properties.
Dell 26" monitor

Could someone please assist in getting my screen to fit the monitor exactly?

Hello all,

I recently installed an outdoor LED screen at my premises for advertising my business.

The screen is 3m x 3m in size. The manufacturers of the screen gave me software to allow me to play media on. This works perfectly fine and at the right resolution.

But, I recently tried to stream a live game on the screen. I have not been able to get the right resolution and the outdoor screen only displays a portion of what's playing on the desktop.

I will be extremely grateful for any help.

Hi - I just got a new T460 laptop from my company.  However, the extended desktop monitor that I have currently (Dell P1911) will not auto-size correctly with the new laptop.  If the text size is large enough to read on the laptop, the display size is WAAAY too big on the extended desktop and I can't even scroll to everything I need to see (bottom of screens, etc).  However, when I decrease size to fit the Dell extended desktop, the type on the laptop screen is so small as to be nearly unreadable.  Have discussed this with IT and they say there's "no good solution - it's how the new laptop works."  Can someone suggest a extended desktop screen that would work better with this model Lenovo, so that the screen sizes will transfer properly?  Thanks!

Dual booting Win 7 and Win 8. Win 7 is C: Primary installed first, Win 8 is installed to a primary partition (25GB). I get the blue recovery screen after starting Win 8 from bootloader menu. Win 7 starts fine. I have installed Win 8 on another computer using the same flash so I know the flash is good. First I defraged and cleaned out C: then created the partition. I have installed it on the computer before(preview edition) then removed it(formated D: partition), this is the RTM 9200 build. Did I mention that on the other computer when installed it asked for Key which I temporarily skipped, on this computer however when installed it did not ask for the key. Before the install I ran bootrec /fixmbr, /fixboot and also /rebuildbcd from Win 7 install disk. I don't think it's a problem with the Win 7 boot loader. My guess is some registry value or other setting or file in Win 7 is preventing normal startup of Win 8. I do believe it's not hardware related. Any thoughts on what could cause this? Could it be the Win 8 bootloader now causing problems and if so how would I fix this issue? Do I need to fix bootloader in Win 8 and should I run the bootrec cmd's from the Win 8 flash this time ? Not sure which has taking over now! I am having issues with a projector and a laptop and the extended screen. Basically I bought a projector to give presentations, including using PowerPoint. I have a dell 3300mp projector and an alienware laptop that is spec'd out to the hilt. Laptop is running win7 ultimate 64 bit and i have an NVIDIA geforce gtx 460M graphics card. i am using an M1-A to d-sub(VGA) /USB cable to connect the two devices to each other. I am able to do the extend screen function, however, when I am using powerpoint, my PC shows the slideshow and the projector shows the main powerpoint screen/desktop (i.e. where i'd have the slides and notes accompanying them etc). How can I reverse this so the projector shows the powerpoint slideshow extended screen and my laptop shows the main powerpoint screen? (i.e. i don't want everyone reading my notes on my projection screen).

I've tried right clicking on the desktop and choosing "Screen Resolution" and i've tried just about every possible configuration on that screen but the issue persists. When I click the detect/identify buttons it correctly shows my laptop as 1 and my projector as 2. It says that my pc is the main display, and under the multiple displays drop down menu it has "extend these displays" (i have gone through all the options under this menu but as i said it still won't reverse the screens).

any ideas? This is frustrating and i have heard other people have similar issues with win7 extended screens.

I have seen reports of people able to install drivers that allow you to use the touchpad on your laptop to function like the gestures that are part of WIN8. I have an older Dell Studio 1555, and the synaptic drivers I have installed do not do this.

Weird thing is, that the synaptic web page displays information about this, but provides no download link

This is not something I can't live without, more a curiosity to see what it would be like using the gestures on a non-touch screen device.

I have done some internet searches, but have not yet found an answer, or a solution for this Dell.

Thanks for any help.

The drivers/software are located under the Resources tab on the Synaptics website, here's the link: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers
Those features should be part of the driver/software now but they only work on certain Synaptics Touchpads.

My wife's parents purchased a Toshiba Qosmio DX730 (PQQ11A model). They recently upgraded to Windows 8 and the touch screen now does not work.

The problem is missing drivers (the monitor driver is reporting as a Generic PnP Monitor).

I went to the Toshiba site and selected the driver downloads for the appropriate model and installed a number of drivers, including the recommended NVidia display drivers. There are no drivers on that site that seem to install support for the Toshiba touch screen monitor.

Are there no Windows 8 drivers available for this model? If not, is there another solution? If so, where can I find them. Any help very much appreciated as they have a nice computer and purchased Windows 8 so they could use it with the touch features.

I just purchased an HP Pavilion 20 All-In-One desktop computer that unfortunately had Windows 8 on it - I needed a computer immediately and no one in town had an all in one with 7 pro. I purchased Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit OEM software (from reputable store; computer is 64bit) and thought it would be an easy install - insert disk, follow directions. It acts as if it's installing windows 7, but when it gets to the screen which shows the language, time and - forgot the last drop down choice, I don't have use of the mouse or keyboard. I can't tab, use arrow keys, or anything. I have spent hours searching online before bothering anyone for free advice, but now I'm looking for free advice. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, do I post this in Windows 7 Pro or 8 ?

Let me add that this All In One does not have the touch screen monitor.

Hi Guys,

I am a member of the sevenforums and currently have a win8 laptop so thought I'd sign up here (seems to be the same people behind both forums).

I'm having a little trouble and would really appreciate some feedback.

My Lenovo ideapad z500 had 2 keys (K and I) that stopped working (they worked on the touchscreen) and then after that the delete, 8, and arrow keys topped working. Not sure why.

Before I get the keyboard replaced I'm wondering if it could be something else? There's no water damage and I haven't dropped it so I'm confused. I was told it has to be water damage but maybe 1 drop from the condensation on a glass of water is all I can think that may have affected it.

Would be great for some input on this issue.

A:Laptop Keys Stopped working - Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Win8

I was told it has to be water damage

Not true. In fact, water in the keyboard normally does not cause permanent damage. That is, once the water dries, all works again - most of the time. But that does depend on many variables - type of keyboard membrane, how much water, if just water (no sugars or cream, for example), and how much dust, dirt, oily hair/dander, cigarette smoke, cookie crumbs, etc. are under the keys when the water was spilled. The greater damage generally comes when the water works it way through the keyboard and into the computer's electronics.

I would try a regular PC keyboard first to see what happens. If all the keys work properly with a standard USB keyboard, then you can be pretty certain it is the notebook keyboard at fault, and not something more serious.

Ok, I have two issues with my computer but they go hand in hand, sort of.

The first one is the BIOS boot up screen that usually leads me to Windows. A few months ago, this vanished. I don't know if it was due to a version of Windows 7 i installed or something but whenever I turned on the PC, the screen would appear blank for a few minutes then go straight to the Windows welcome screen. I thought it was weird, but I didn't see a problem since it went to Windows so I disregarded it, which looking back is kind of dumb but I didn't want to risk doing something to the computer in the process.

So a few weeks ago I was trying to partition the hard drive so I can install the Windows 8 preview on it, rebooted the computer and...nothing. It wouldn't take me to Windows to there's clearly a problem with the hard drive. I could always get a new one, but there's still the problem of the vanishing BIOS screen. I googled some troubleshooting tips, and the only thing I could find was maybe the computer was too dusty inside, so I cleaned it out but still got the same results. If anyone has any suggestions for me, please let me know...

A:BIOS screen doesn't display when booting up.

I have seen the no Bios screen effect in a computer with two active video cards. I'll call them A & B
Where a is the first card in the BIOS but B is the primary video card in windows. Sometimes two seperate video cards and sometimes a video card and built-in video.

I've got a laptop that has no screen (not just broken, but removed from the device), which I normally connect through HDMI. While going through a system wipe and fresh Windows 8 install, during a reboot prompted by the installation, the laptop refused to reboot. It is plugged in and at full power, and whenever I press the power button, the power light flashes briefly before shutting back off so quickly that I can't even try to boot into bios or press the FnF5 key to switch to the secondary monitor.

My only guess is that maybe the laptop thinks the lid is closed, keeping it in sleep/hibernation now that my setting to do nothing with the lid closed was overwritten by the new installation, but I could've sworn that I'd reinstalled my OS before with the laptop in the same condition. Googling has been a little difficult, since results get flooded with issues that occur between monitors or with those that have a way to boot into bios before the computer shuts itself down.

Laptop is an old Acer V5-171 from 2012ish.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Today I plugged an hdmi to vga cable into my Win 8 sony vaio, and I plugged the other VGA side of the cable into an acee 22" monitor. I then chose from the right hand windows 8 panel to "extend to monitor", the laptop screen went black, the monitor screen remained without signal (extended screen did not show on monitor) and now the laptop screen is black.

I am now stuck and both laptop and monitor screen not working.

I tried unplugging cable, pressing fn and all the f1 to f12, shift, windows button but nothing is working.

I pressed off button then switched laptop back on and it showed the sony vaio logo on laptop then the screen went black again.

Please tell me how could I return my laptop screen to work and stop the screen extension which is not working and which I am sure is the case.

Any buttons on keyboard to click at all?

Any solution is highly appreciated.

Thank you

It's stuck in an extended screen it seems, boot into Safe Mode while you have all external monitors unplugged - Your Display is probably set to a resolution too high for both the external monitor and the laptop monitor, so you'll have to try "Boot to VGA mode" and I don't know where that is in the Windows 8 Boot GUI, if it is even in there at all.

Hello. I'm having a rather incredible problem with Windows 8 Pro. Sometimes, after booting, my notebook's keyboard doesn't work at all. Some facts about all this to inform the diagnosis:
The keyboard doesn't work in Windows; it does in the UEFI bios. (Ie I boot to windows and it doesn't work, I then reboot, test it in the bios and see that it works; I go back to windows and it still doesn't work there.)
It happens randomly: maybe once every ?5? boot ups. Definitly not always.
**I think** (but aren't sure) that it only happens when booting, not when coming back from hibernation or sleep.
Unplugging the battery or the power cord doesn't help.
I'm fairly careful about malware and I don't think it's related. I don't have any malware protection other than Windows'.
The System section of the Event Viewer only has one apparently relevant event, "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WPD\0000.". Notice this is related to a Logitec input driver, and I'm having trouble with the notebook's built-in keyboard. I never plugged a Logitec keyboard (but I did use a Logitec mouse in the past).
Nevertheless I acted upon that event log. Some pages elsewhere (The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error - Windows 7 Help Forums) suggested changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework from Manual (triggered) to automatic. It didn't help.
It has always solved itself after a random amount of time (from a few minutes to an hou... Read more

Beside multiple displays it says "Extend these displays" which is what I want.

My Viewsonic monitor is set as my main display even though it is labeled number 2.

My question is how do I make it so when I click icons to load up games they display on my Sharp TV and not my Viewsonic monitor.

A:Extended Display

Try using MurgeeMon to do this: Dual Monitor Software, Auto Mouse Click, Auto Clicker, Mouse Mover Utility

It'll do what you're looking for. You can also switch your primary monitor: http://www.ehow.com/how_5919616_swit...-monitors.html

Hey guys,
I currently just received a 24" monitor from Dell today and set it up for extended display with my laptop. I'm wondering if there is a way to change the default 'click and drag windows to the left' feature to get windows to my second display to a different direction, as in dragging a window up or down to my second display.

Thanks is advance!

Hi Guys

I've got an Dell Inspiron 1100 that i'm trying to setup for training purposes..I would like to "Extend(Span)" the display with the projector, but I am not able to do this. I can however clone the screen. I tried this on both projector and crt monitor. To no avail. Is it not possible with this setup?

WinXP Pro SP2

Any other details necessary?

How are you connecting the projector to the Laptop? Once you have the Projector hooked up, did you try pressing the Fn(blue function key) Plus the CRT/LCD key (usually is under F8 or F7, varies in diff. laptops) You can press those keys a few times, cause some time it does pick it up right away; wait like 4 sec between pressing of keys.

W7 Pro 64bit
ATI HD Radeon 5770 with latest catalyst software & Drivers (4/27/11)
6 GB Mem
Intel core 2cpu 6600 @2.4Ghz

Display #2: Phillips 202p73, good quality CRT Monitor
---- resolution: 1920 x 1440 @85hz

Display #1: Sony Bravia HDTV attached via HDMI cable
---- resolution: I forget, but less than the Phillips

#2 is actually my PC monitor that I used 90% of the time. My Vid Card must have detected the #1 & #2 backwards. ? All display modes work. In duplication mode my PC monitor takes the lower resolution of the HDTV. When I run in extended mode, my task bar and other functions show up on the HDTV, not on the main PC monitor so it's tricky to navigate. To put it another way, when using the "Display Switch" shortcut (WINKEY+P) the "Computer" and "Projector" designations have switched places. In a nutshell, I'd like to switch my #1 & #2 designations. OR, I want to make my #2 display show the windows task bar when I go into extended mode.

I have NEVER been able to check the "make this my display" box, no matter what I do or how I run it. It's visible but greyed out. I'm not very familiar with the catalyst software, but maybe there's a solution there?

I feel I'm missing something obvious. Please help!

A:W7 Extended Display - should be ez, but its not

It sounds like you might want to switch which head your "main" monitor is hooked up to.

ATI cards detect monitors in the following order:

DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort. HOWEVER, if the BOTTOM/board-side DVI is empty, HDMI will come first, then TOP DVI second.

Make sure your main monitor is on the bottom/board-side DVI port on your card.

Also, try setting your display settings to your liking in the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and see if that helps.

Update: To find the settings you're looking for in the latest CCC, see this image:

One and or two should work to your liking.

UPDATE 2: Now that I think about it, do you have a single-slot 5770? (Has 1 DVI and 1 VGA, not two DVI)?

Hi forum,

The screen of my laptop does not work anymore, despite suffering no physical damage. Therefore, from now on I am using an external monitor and safe mode with networking.
When booting, the windows symbol appears normally, yet before showing the desktop a crash dump pops.
Launch startup repair does not solves the issue, showing no results whatsoever.

Would appreciate some help on this one.

Sorry for the long thread but wanted to provide some context.

I would like to have an extended desktop over 3 monitors (different windows on different displays). I've seen it done, I know its possible. But I have tried and failed. Looking for help before I give up.

-Windows 7 Home Ediition 64 bit
-Dell XPS Studio 9100 desktop
-Dell OEM version of AMD HD 5670 ( VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. NO DP port)
-Non gaming application
-3 existing monitors
>>>LEFT: Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV ( HDMI and VGA inputs
>>>MIDDLE: Dell 1901 monitor ( DVI and VGA inputs)
>>>RIGHT: Dell 1907 monitor (DVI and VGA inputs)
•PCI card slot (PCI_1) 26
•PCI Express x1 card slot (PCIE1X3)
•PCI Express x16 card slot (PCIE16_1) (used by video card)
•PCI Express x1 card slot (PCIE1X2)
•PCI Express x1 card slot (PCIE1X1)
•PCI Express x8 card slot (PCIE8_2)
Latest AMD Drivers,Catalyst etc.
Resolution requirement - Modest. At this point would even settle for 1280 x 1024 on all monitors

Intial display configuration
Dell OEM AMD 5670 HDMI port > to > HDMI input on Sony Bravia
Dell OEM AMD 5670 DVI port > to > DVI input on Dell 1901
Dell OEM AMD 5670 VGA port > to > VGA input on Dell 1907

Windows 7 control panel sees, recognizes and identifies all 3 monitors. In fact I thought I was done!. But it only lets me extend any two at a time ; not all three at onc... Read more

A:Extended display over 3 monitors

The more I read , the more I am concluding the most effective way (and maybe the only way) to do this, is Option 3, ie

- buy a new PCI-e x16 graphics card with a DP port ( approx $100-$300)
- buy an ACTIVE dongle ( a I want to run 3 monitors in total) (approx $50)

Eg ref:
HD5450 Triple Monitor Support Problem

Trying to set up 3 monitors with Gigabyte Radeon 6950 card

As to the cheaper Option 2, I dont know if thats even possible in practice for the 3 monitor sceanrio.

Currently I'm using an MSI GL62 6QD laptop with a resolution of 1920x1080. I have an external monitor I have just connected today (Dell 2407WFP-HC) at a resolution of 1920x1200, I am using it as an extended display.

Now the problem is that when this monitor is connected, anything displayed on the monitor is slightly blurry, even though the resolution is correct. I was lead to believe this is a problem with the DPI, so I tried using the Windows DPI scaling option (100%, 125%, etc) and encountered another problem. It says "A custom scale factor is set" - I have tried turning this off however it persists each time I reboot my machine, leading me to believe this is causing the problem - however I am unsure.

It should be noted that when I bought this machine I used a small piece of 3rd party software which fixes the blurry text on some Windows 10 applications, and I have turned it off recently to see if this helps but I think this may have something to do with this problem. The software is called "XPExplorer", the link is here: http://windows10_dpi_blurry_fix.xpexplorer.com/

I've recently bought a new monitor in Vietnam and hooked it up via HDMI to my laptop. The picture on the extended display is grainy and larger than that of my laptop display.

- Drivers are up to date
- Monitor set to native resolution
- Graphics card is NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 520mx 1GB
- I've played around with Windows display settings

The NVIDIA control panel isn't showing all of the options to enable me to access the settings I need.

Hello, I have an extended display with a 2 1 setup. On reboot, my displays reset to a 1 2 setup and I have to manually reverse the extended displays after every reboot. I have tried setting up the extended display in both windows and nvidia settings to no avail. Only major change I have made recently, is to install bitdefender antivirus, although I dont see how that could really cause any issues with extended displays. Also as posted in security forum my windows firewall resets to off after every reboot. I don't know if these problems are related. Any help would be appreciated. I use Windows 7 Ultimate.

A:Extended Display resetting

The issue with the firewall has been solved. It ended up being a service issue with startup. Which probably means we can rule out the antivirus bugging out my cpu. Still having issues with the extended display. I have tried physically switching the monitor connectors to no avail as well. Any help? In the end I may need to just switch my monitors physically ( not ideal but better than having to reset my displays after every windows boot)

I have a thinkpad t400 which I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on about a month ago.

I have the notebook hooked up to a dock with a dual monitor display. In XP the extended display worked fine and booted up that way but with Windows 7 on every boot up I have to extend the displays myself.

Is there a way to get this to happen every time automatically like I did with XP?

Hi Everyone!

So I am having some issues extending my display. I just got a refurbished 2016 Dell XPS 13 laptop (Win 10 64-bit, i7, 8GB RAM). A great laptop so far, but the problem is that it won't extend or project onto my TV. The computer recognizes the additional screen (a Toshiba TV) but will not display on it. When I click extend display, the laptop screen goes dark. Occasionally I can revert the display back to the laptop with some blind clicking, but usually I end up restarting the computer.

On the TV side, the TV says "No Signal" even after I have plugged in the HDMI cord and the computer makes the hardware recognition sound and the TV appears as an additional screen in the display control panel on the laptop. I have tried using the on board graphics software (Intel HD Graphics), the Win 10 Control Panel, and hotkeys. All with the same result.

I would love it someone smarter than me could tell me what to do!

One thing. The XPS 13 doesn't have an HDMI port -- it has a Type C USB port. I bought a Dell Adapter that goes from Type C USB to VGA/HDMI/USB/Ethernet -- not sure if that is the issue or not, but like I said, the laptop recognizes the TV, it just seems like the opposite is not true!

Anyway, thanks for the help. It'll be a lot easier to watch the new season of GoT if I can actually see it!
