Upgrading Lenovo Screen from 720p to 1080p?

Q: Upgrading Lenovo Screen from 720p to 1080p?

Hi, My first post here and I'm wondering if anyone has upgraded their Lenovo from a 720p TN screen to a 1080p IPS screen? I own a Lenovo T460 20FMS1YT00 - with a 14inch 720p TN screen. I'm having trouble finding a screen upgrade. I've also read that you need a cable upgrade too when you go to 1080p from 720p? Any help would be appreciated on what screen and cable I need exactly. Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Yes, but you cannot simply replace the LCD - you must replace the entire display assembly.

I want to back up my collection of blu ray movies and I don't know If i want to back them up in 720p or 1080p. im new to blu ray, just bought my first few movies the other day, but i like keeping them on the compie...

i like the idea of true hd, but ripping to 1080p would be huge, and i just want to know if i would ever be able to tell a difference.
i hear you cant tell the difference of 720 vs 1080 unless the screen size is "50 +

Just received my HDMI cable for my PS3 and hooked it up to my LG 720p TV. It prompted me that it detected an HDMI connection and asked if I wanted to set to "Optimal Settings" or "Optimal Resolution" (Can't remember exactly what the message was). I said yes and it then told me the settings were on the Optimal setting of 1080p...well my TV is a 720p. Shouldnt it not be able to support 1080p settings?? or will it just automatically set the quality to the most the TV can handle?

I have a 52" JVC DLP HD TV that is 720p. I have a HDMI home theater system with a DVD player that upconverts to 1080i. I have 2 questions:

1) after reading about many arguments on which is better 720p or 1080i. which one would look better on my tv? I have the option on my DVD player to change the resolution from 480,720,1080i or auto. I can't tell a difference?

1) would it be worth it to get a Blu-ray player or better of with a DVD player that upconverts to 1080p if my tv is only 720p and would I notice much difference? I have about 200 DVDs and am not planning on replacing them with blu-ray if I go that route.

Well, if your TV only goes to 720p, then it doesn't really matter if your inputting a 1080 whatever signal, because the tv will still only show 720p maximum.

Hello, I have tried to google the problem, but non seem to relate to my specific problem. I am trying to watch Ironman on a 50" Samsung Plasma TV. I am using an 80GB PS3 as the bluray player. In the PS3 settings only 1080p is selected. However, when the movie starts, the screen shows information regarding the resolution. Initially it shows 1980x1080, but then switches to 720x480. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know of a way to fix this? The movie lists that it is 1080p ready. THANKS!

Edit: Tested it with a different PS3 and a different blu ray movie, same issue.

Hi there

Not sure what's happening here but on a standard proper full 1080p HD 42 inch TV I really can't see any difference between 720p stuff and 1080p stuff when sitting about 3 - 4 metres away from TV set.

Is it me or are the actual streams broadcast via SKY / NETFLIX / AMAZON etc for a lot of programs actually "Up-rezzed" rather than broadcast in genuine 1080p format.

I've even found some Torrents for TV shows at 720p BETTER than the native "Official" streams at 1080p !!!!!!

4K stuff is another order of magnitude --that works brilliantly on a decent TV > 50 ins. My complaint is with 720p vs 1080p - I think a load of these programs were never broadcast or made in full 1080p and the up-rezzing diminishes quality.

I've found though on a small 24 inch TV the 1080p looks good (but so does 720p as well). !!!

Any comments or is it time for me to have a visit to the Optician.

I have [and you have] a wide variety of video quality/format/framerate, etc. I have some movies that are 720p and 1080p.

I have recently bought a HDTV from Philips 32" and it is announced as 1080p.
Now, when i tried connecting it to my computer, it says that 1366x768 is the native resolution, and not 1920x1080. I have even tried creating a custom resolution as 1080p to see if it works , but no luck.
So, how do i get this TV to work on 1080p?
Or better, how do i check to see if it really is 1080p?

From self-solving my previous post I made on this forum, I've come across one more issue that I need to solve which I can't seem to figure out myself. Other people have managed to fix this who have the same media PC as I do.

In any browser, 720p/1080p video in Flash or HTML5 on YouTube seems to choke the CPU at a constant 100% CPU. However, on IE, whilst the CPU is at 100% the video appears to playback without any issues.

Whilst this isn't so much a problem - I'm not really a fan of IE, so I would much rather have it working the same way on Chrome. Flash is up-to-date and I've disabled Chrome's 'pep' Flash to no avail.

Any help appreciated!

Sounds like something is causing your browsers to choke like that. I would try uninstalling flash and then reinstalling the latest version and see if that does anything for ya. post back if it doesnt.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Seeing your cpu temperature is at 69c might be why that's getting a tad on the hot site
Click Start and type in the search box
resource monitor
Click on the suggestion for it and open the Overview section and post a screen shot.

You can monitor your temperatures with this
Download Real Temp 3.70 | techPowerUp
Download it to your downloads folder
Right click it and extract all
Open the extracted folder and right click the RealTemp.exe file and click on Send to = desktop create shortcut
Click to open the shortcut on your desktop
It will open and a Celsius # will appear on the action center.
You can minimize the little window and the # will remain.

Realtemp also shows processor Load so you might leave it not minimized so you can monitor the Load also at a glance.

Some of these errors readed: "MEMORY_MANAGMENT", "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", "KERNELL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE" and "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION".Please tell me wich steps should I follow in order to correct this problem, I bought this product exclusively to play live music, so a blue screen in the middle of a gig would be fatal. But now with Seven x64 and the drivers downloaded from Update, I can't seem to fix the problem. Whenever I have a program maximized on my hdtv a few pixels width wise will be off screen. Just enough to have the menu bars and scroll bars off screen. Are there any third party programs to fix this? I tried installing x64 Vista drivers and they would invert and wash out the colors on my screen, totally unusable.

A:Lenovo Essential B590 MBX29IV-Can this run MKV 1080p files?

Based simply on the specs you have listed, it should be fine for 720p but may not do 1080p as the screen resolution may not go high enough.

You have listed the resolution as 1366x768 which should be fine for 720p (1280x720) but 1080p (1920x1080) may be too high for it.

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Shall i just stick to the screen and appreciate that it works good in 1600x1200, I mean it isn't that much lower. Hello everyone, i recently orderd a u430p from lenovo's website for $550 and its perfect great battery, lightweight, backlit keyboard..but....the regular lcd screen is far from great. Ive been using my yoga for a while and ive gotten used to the 1600x900p IPS display so the screen on the u430p was unbearable for me. So i started looking  throughthe u430p parts list in the manual and i come to find out that some countries have the u430p is 1960 x 1080p IPS resoloution. So i type the FRU parts list number from the manual on google and find some $60 1960X1080p IPS screen.I buy it and go to work. At the end i had replaced the cruddy low res screen with terrible viewing angles to this beauty i have now. No different inverter or lcd cable or none of that. Just a straight swap. Hey, I bought a Thinkpad T450 back in November and really like the specs with one MAJOR exception and that's the screen that the laptop has come with. It's astoundingly bad. They didnt offer a 1080p IPS display so I went for a HP+ 1600x900 display as a sort of temprorary option, because I know that if I got a 1260x724 I'd have to invest in a new connector pin. The issue is when I went to ask an IT shop how much it would cost to just replace the screen they told me my Laptop wouldnt support a 1080p IPS screen and it would just be blank saying they've had this issue before. I've seen that people have done it on the internet so I don't really know who to go with here. I suspect they may have tried to go from 724 to 1080p which would explain it. Does anyone have any experience with this and if it is possible to upgrade is there a difference between a t450 and t450s 1080p screen  and would either be compatable with each other? As a note they offer my EXACT laptop with a 1080p screen now so again any info I may be missing here regarding why it wouldnt be compatable would be appreciated. Aren't these laptops supposed to be upgradable? It's the whole reason I bought it..

A:Upgrade T450 screen to 1080p

It looks like they only offer the FHD screen on the "S" model. Having said that, I cannot guarantee it will work, but I would GUESS that it would. They use the same BIOS. Note that if you have any warranty left, replacing the screen would likely void it. Note that the T450 series machines seem to have a custom eeid image and people who have replaced screens using aftermarket panels have reported that brightness controls no longer work.

A:Upgrade screen from 1366x768 to 1080p

As you can see, I have a pretty decent laptop. I love it but was wondering if it is possible to change the screen to a True High Def. one (1080p (1920×1080)) from the 1600 x 900 one that came with it? The screen is 17.3 inches and my machine is a Asus G74Sx-bbk8. I'm assuming I'll have to change drivers but is there anything else that would stop this conversion from working? This my only machine and cannot lose it . I have found the screens online but am wondering about compatability.

I'm not sure if this is the right category, if not any suggestions welcome.

I am having issues with using my TV as my computer screen. I received an HD TV for Christmas, but I have never been able to get that high definition look its supposed to have. When I run even 1080p bluray quality videos, the quality is just not there. I can sort of make it look better through the TV's menu, but the quality is severely compromised as I have to bring Sharpness WAY down to compensate.
To be clear, the image looks bad everywhere on the pc, not just when watching a video.

TV is I BELIEVE (at work, will have to confirm when I get home) :
Samsung® UN40H5003 40-in. 1080p LED HDTV

PC is:
Dell Inspiron 660
GeForce GTX 760 Graphics Card

Connection is through HDMI ports

I have searched everywhere for this answer, any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have already tried changing the device name to PC in my TV menu, that
is not the solution.

A:PC using Samsung 1080p TV as screen, image doesn't look HD

how long have you had the TV ?

a blueray is the best test , as far as i know, because it should run at 1080p
TV broadcast would be 1080i - if HD

The PC part will depend on native resolution of TV and the PC graphics display adapter settings

if bluray looks poor - then you may need to discuss with the shop you purchased the TV from

Hi so i just bought a Benq 21.5" monitor 1080P with HDMI, VGA, DVI inputs
I would use DVI if my laptop had one but unfortunatly not, The only outputs are VGA and HDMI, I whant 2 monitors so i use VGA on my 1600x900 Monitor becouse its the only input on the monitor, And hdmi on my New monitor, But i can only use 1600x900 resulotion there too to fill the screen wich is very annoying becouse the quality sucks, VGA works with 1080P but the performance compared to HDMI and the qualit compared to HDMI is terrible, So what do i do? get an HDMI to VGA adapter for my secondare monitor and use VGA on the new monitor even if the quality sucks or just live with it untill i can upgrade my Desktop pc so i accually have DVI out?

Reason why i bought a 21.5" monitor when i could by a much better one? Becouse the Benq was a used one that i got for really cheap so yeah, Its very nice for its very cheap prize

I am thinking of upgrading the screen on my Satellite L50t-A-145 from the factory one (1366x768) to a full HD (1920x1080) one. All the hardware people I have spoken to so far have been pretty negative, but from everything that they have said it would appear to be just a case of replacing the LVDS cable (the standard one won't support 1080p, which, if true, leaves me near speechless) and then replace the current screen with a 1080p one with the appropriate physical characteristics (correct size, screw mounting positions, connector position, etc). Does anybody have any experience of doing this or have any relevant knowledge to share? This is my first attempt at upgrading a laptop screen, so all help very welcome.

Welcome to the forum Allanwill,

Highly recommend uninstalling the two software below:

Start Menu\Programs\Advanced SystemCare 7 Public:Start Menu\Programs\Advanced SystemCare 7 Public
Start Menu\Programs\IObit Uninstaller Public:Start Menu\Programs\IObit Uninstaller Public
This software can be cause of BSOD's. The windows 7 operating system does not require these registry cleaning software. They often tune-down rather than tune-up and can wreck the OS beyond repair. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Check this, this and this thread for evidence.

If you feel the need to use a registry cleaning or optimisation software, most of us recommend the use of CCleaner but make sure you back up the registry before making letting ccleaner delete anything.

Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite Public:Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Lite Public
Please uninstall Daemon Tools. It uses a driver called sptd.sys which is known to cause BSODs in Windows 7.

Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Programs. Reboot the system. Once the program is uninstalled, run sptd.sys uninstaller to remove the driver from your system.

As an alternative, many people recommend the use of Total Mounter or Magic ISO

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with t... Read more

Does this listing from lenovos official page have a 1080p display? link here It looks like the $1,419 on lenovos official t480 page which has a 1080p display, but the ebay listing does not have it stated. The CPU, RAM, and SSD match up. I just want to make sure it has the correct display before I purchase it. Thanks so much!
