Q: connectivity issue

My laptop which i have recently installed a fresh xp copy on, is having internet connectivity issues. there is only 1 driver that works for the wireless lan and 1 driver for the wire lan that but that wont work for some reason but im not concerned as long as the wifi works on it. the issue is that every 2-5 mins the wireless disconnects, and reconnects taking anywhere from 1 min - several mins to aquire ip address. i could understand if it was clear across my home away from the wireless router, but its stationed right next to the router, so there should be no interferrance problems. i use halfdone's unknown devices driver informer and that tells me that the proper drivers are all installed on my laptop and that i dont need anything else. device manager confirms. i dont understand why my wired internet wont work if it has the proper drivers, and i dont understand why the wifi cuts out like it does. would you assume that its the router ( though its brand new and doesnt cut on my other wifi systems ) or the computer?

Does anyone have information on when a security update will be available for the issue?
On 10/18/17 MS Article Stated: "Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release of the security patch. This is expected to be available in another 2-3 weeks or earlier."

For Issue:
JET provider is no longer able to connect after the October update. This update (released October 10<sup>th</sup>, 2017) includes a security update release that inadvertently affects the JET provider. The update was kb4041678 and included in
the patch kb4041681.  These patches affected the Operating System, which adversely has an issue with the following technologies: Microsoft Windows Search Component, Windows kernel-mode drivers, Microsoft Graphics Component, Internet Explorer, Windows
kernel, Windows Wireless Networking, Microsoft JET Database Engine, and the Windows SMB Server. It is important to note that the changes were not to these technologies themselves.

Opps, maybe not so unique since I just noticed an ENTIRE forum for browsers...perhaps moving this is appropriate...if so, please do. I will be reading up in there.


Its interesting because I can't find any mention of it anywhere on this site. Specifically browser connectivity is lost after a little while (guessing 7 minutes, though it may be a number of browser pages displayed trigger i went 3 hrs today) after I start browsing. If I don't start a browser, the death clock doesn't begin until I start browsing. Now, at the same time, all shares, the other machines on the network, work fine. Also if I am playing an online game, I will not have any issues. Just IE and firefox can't display pages and other programs (like updates of AVG) are soon to follow.

***Important to note this is new, the network was fine for over a week before this started a couple days ago.

I notice, when it works, net info states Homegroup - ready to connect (I am using a workgroup to connect to other machines) but last night, during a browser outage it said it was connected. I notice now it calls my workgroup a homegroup (I think is used to say workgroup)

(This problem may have started around when I tried to synchronise a folder to "always available offline", but there are other things that were done in that period of time unfortuately, all have since been undone.

no laughing please, i truly am computer stupid!

i have a dell laptop inspiron B130. amazingly enough, made it though setting up a linksys wireless G broadband router! however, seems that the dsl cable modem is not "reading" the router. have not been able to connect to the internet via wireless...have reset the cable modem, the router...nothing. do keep getting an annoying popup balloon telling me that my wireless signal is excellent...any advice? thanks in advance for any help.

how do you have everything configured?

Can you see the wireless router from your laptop?

Ideal setup is to have the "uplink" port (labeled as WAN or Internet" from your wireless router going to one of the LAN (or "Ethernet") ports on the DSL modem.

Hi,
I have just bought a new router and am trying to connect it. I did the basic set up with an install disc to the problem is that when I connect to the Wireless network it only gives me limited access to the internet for instance I am able to use Skype and other applications that rely on internet connection, but when it comes to web browsers (both Mozilla & Safari) it shows the url section loading but only ever makes it mid way (the page always stays blank) . I also have access to the router settings using 192.168.2.1 I cloned my MAC address on the router settings as that was prior advice.

If anyone could help it would be amazing..

Hi Everyone.
I have a Netgear JFS516 switch which is directly connected to the D-link DES-3026 switch.The problem is up-link lED on netgear switch keeps blinking for 1 minute and then goes off, resulting no network connectivity on the part of Netgear JFS516 switch.

These 2 switches connected with straight cable and I crimped the cable on both side but the problem still persists.

Did you test the cable with a cable tester? Sounds like a cable issue or perhaps a bad switch. Did you take the switch close to the other switch and connect it with a short patch cable as a test?

Running Vista and IE 7 and connecting over att 3g wireless card. After updating virus protection (Kapersky) ie cannot connect to the internet. I have uninstalled the virus protection, and can ping common web sites from a command prompt and outlook works as well. I've recently (in the past few weeks) been having trouble with Internet Explorer, version 7.0.5730.11. When I first open the program, the page is blank, and the status bar (bottom of the IE window) briefly flashes "Detecting proxy settings" and then sits at "Connecting to site 74.125.93.104" for several minutes before displaying the typical "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" screen.

In dealing with the problem, I've found that whenever I get the "Connecting to site" message in the status bar, I immediately close IE, then reopen it. Sometimes the first time I do this results in Google (homepage) loading, but most of the time I must repeat this proces several times (up to about 10) before IE loads Google.

When already working properly, I've noticed that IE has no problems opening links in new windows or tabs. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this problem?

Windows XP Service Pack 3
IE version 7.0.5730.11

Are you using something like the Google Toolbar? Try using Add/Remove Programs to uninstall it. If this solves your problem, you can try reinstalling Google Toolbar.

My companies building was struck by lightning last week. All of our computers have been knocked offline. Some employees that use WYSE boxes smelled smoke after the lightning strike.
i performed an ipconfig/release /renew
that returned some results such as "unable to contact your dhcp server. Im not sure if some of my netwirking devices are fried as well, or theres just a configuration problem.we unfortunately have no internet connection but are connecting to an "unidentified network"
Our company has been without internet access for two weeks now..any answers would be highly apreciated.

Hey all,

I'm finally posting here after having read around on the site before and gotten good info.

I set up a wireless home network between two computers (a laptop and a tablet) a few months ago. The laptop is the "base" computer and the table has a wireless receiver; the router is a DLink 524.

I never had any connectivity issues (internet) until last week on the laptop when my free version of Zonealarm started acting screwy and not displaying any info when I would open the program up. I updated the version, and since then cannot use the internet while Zonealarm is running. I'm confused, though, because the tablet has Zonealarm and has no problems accessing the internet at all. DLink tech support tells me that the problem is in the configuration of Zonealarm, and that I should contact them, but I'm running the freebie version and so don't anticipate getting much help there.

Is this an issue of ports (opening/forwarding)? If so, I have no experience in that and would appreciate if someone could take a second to let me know what they think should be done. I'm willing to just scrap Zonealarm and try something that works better with the router if need be, but I'm willing to bet someone who knows what they're doing could fix this easily, and that the problem is with me.

A:Odd connectivity issue

Go into the router and turn off the blocking of computers not running ZA. I'm not sure if this is the problem but I do know that I've seen such as problem in DLink routers before because some models now have a feature(some added with firmware update) which will allow you to configure the router with ZA so they don't interfere with eachother, it aslo has a feature which will let you block computers not running ZA so that you don't have unprotected machines on the network. While this is a good idea in theory, it also causes problems for people who don't know it is there.

BTW, the setup you mention where one laptop is "base" as you call it, is incorrect. When using a router to share your internet, the router itself is the server and all computers are the clients. This misconception causes a lot of confusion and sometimes makes it difficult to diagnose a problem when you call one machine a "base" or "server" when it is not.

Hi,
I am currently trouble shooting a network problem for a medium size company, aprox 250 users. The issue is as follows:
A connectivity problem occurs on random clients which leaves them with an ip address received from DHCP server but the client only has connectivity with its own vlan. (DHCP server on different VLAN) The switch has ip helper set up so the communication to get an ip address is being done via the switch and on to the DHCP server.(The primary function of IP helper) The client can't ping anything outside its own VLAN.
Our only work around is to assign a static DHCP ip address on the DHCP server using the MAC address of the client. Issue an ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew on the affected client to get the assigned static DHCP address and full connectivity is restored.
There is a mix of Cisco and 3com switches, mostly Cisco with a Cisco 3750 multi layer switch at the heart of the network.
I have analysed the configuration of the devices and everything looks good.
I know its hard to diagnose from this brief description but any similar problems experienced and solutions discovered are appreciated.

I have a ISA server which i use to connect all my systems to the internet. But there are times when i want direct access to the Internet without any firewall in between ( i know its not safe). For that i connect my DSL modem to an 8 port switch and from there to two of my systems and it works perfectly fine, i can browse...download and play games etc. But when i connect a third system...i cant connect to the internet although i can access systems connected to the switch.
I checked up DNS, IP and everything....still no good.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Can anyone please help, I have a problem on my son's computer. we have lost access to the internet I just keep getting a message stating "limited or no connectivity" I have tried resetting the network wizard in Windows XP but to no avail, I have tried the repair connection facility but that says " unable to set IP address" We connect through a D link wireless router. my computer down stairs connects fine.
I don't know if this is connected to the problem but when I boot up the computer I get a message stating that Rundll C:\PROGRAM~1\NEWDOT~\NEWDOT~1.DLL is missing or cannot be loaded has that caused the problem?

You have spyware

NEWDOT is spyware that hijacks your web browser and host file. You need to remove it. First you need to remove this key from the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\new.net startup
After you have deleted this key you need to reboot your system. Then run msconfig and go to startup and stop these process
(may or may not exist):

I asked this in web/email but no one wants to help me...

I play C&C Renegade (on WOL) religiously. About 2-3 weeks ago, my computer got virused and i had to reset a bunch of things, and i think something messed up my 'net connection settings or something, because since then Renegade has been disconnecting randomly (always at the good times, too).

Hello all,

I am new here but hoping still that someone might have the answer to an ongoing issue within our network.

I am dealing with a large network (large in the physical size not necessarily how many PCs connected). There are 4 different buildings that connect with a fiber optical connection. Each building has it's own internet source. I deal with two of these buildings. The connection runs underground. When I link our two buildings, the networked PCs communicate but the internet connection is lost.

I am not sure if the other buildings have these connection issues but I've noticed that at one end it looks like an adapter is connecting the fiber optical possible to a cat5 looking jack. Is it possible that that's the issue?

Have you heard of this before. I happens to be a POS system that we need working between the two buildings. So apart from one or two office computers on the network that needs internet we need it for processing credit cards as well.

Any help will do. Sorry if I wasn't all that specific or clear... I'm still new at this stuff.

Good morning everyone,

slowly but steadily I am nearing the edge of sanity. I am not overly technically gifted and, to my dismay, certain members of the WoTC support staff aren't, either. I'm not sure I actually expect a solution as much as I hope for an explanation of an issue that's presented itself to me.

The issue is as follows: One particular application (namely Magic the Gathering Arena (yes, I am aware that there's a game subforum, but this really is a networking issue - promise!)) refuses to stay connected to the host for any amount of time. In these trying times (being a teacher and confined to my home desk due to Corona) I spend way too much time on online games, none of which are giving me any sort of grief. I'm on a gigabit fiber connection that's, similarly, never acted up on me before. But for some reason I have not been able to maintain a connection to the MtGA host for longer than about 2 minutes in the past 3 days (never had an issue with the game before). I contacted their support who, as they usually do, presented me with a list of off-the-shelf solutions. Suffice it to say, none of them worked, except for the last one.

A VPN. I'm in Germany and the CSR suggested I try a US-based VPN and this fixed it. I don't plan on making use of a VPN as a long-term solution, but at least I get to scratch the itch in the meantime, right? Well, I wrote back to the support who said, and I quote:

Hope someone out there has come across this... Bellsouth (DSL) using a Westel Modem directly connected to the Computer (ethernet), no switch, hubs, etc.... All connected to a UPS which I turn off nightly. When you first turn it all on, cannot connect to Internet, E-mail, etc... The DSL Modem shows steady power light, steady sync light and ethernet light flickers as it is working, but nada... disabled Firewall (Zone alarm) but nothing. Cannot ping or get to the outside. Most of the time, after a reboot it will then work as it should. No viruses on the computer, all updates are done (Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, IE6 with all updates, etc). It is becoming frustrating to say the least, and takes nearly as long as my dial up connection did just to get online... I contacted Bellsouth who tries to claim it is a hardware issue which I do not agree with... I changed the DSL modem to it is always on, independent of the computer and that didnot help... Next I am going to try a different Ethernet card... All dsl modem updates are done as well... Has anyone else had this problem? Please advise.. thanks

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit with an Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g wifi adapter. I just moved and I had a working wireless connection to a router where I moved from. Now I'm getting limited connectivity to an SMC8014W-G Broadband Wireless Gateway. I've tried turning off the router...I haven't tried re-setting it because at least 4 other people are on the network and I don't want to mess up their connections. I'm not sure what else to do! Help please?

Just incase you really need them? Make a note of the setting for the IPv6 & IPv4 settings.

Then remove the "preferred" IPv6 & IPv4 addresses & connect again.

Hey all,
I'm having some difficulty with my WiFi connection. The problem began over the summer, and has been getting progressively worse. When the problem began, I was living in a different house. I recently moved to a new house and the problem has continued and worsened at the original rate without skipping a beat. In the specs below are the data for my CURRENT modem/router device, idk what my old one was. My laptop is usually able to connect to the network extremely well; high download/upload rates and strong connection, etc. However, occasionally and with no clear correlation to any other conditions or events, my connection drops. There are 3 other computers (2 laptops and a desktop, the laptops are Macs and the desktop is running Windows 7) and an xbox in my house. All of these have no such issue in connecting to the network. My laptop is the only victim. My drivers are all up to date. The strange thing is that when my connection 'drops,' it doesn't really drop. My laptop is able to see the network, but will not connect. ThinkVantage Access Connections (TVAC) attempts to connect after losing the link but, after about 2-3 minutes of trying, gives up and tells me that the wep/wpa-psk information is not being accepted by the network. Windows Network Connections (WNC) shows the yellow exclamation symbol and alerts me that I am connected, but that I have "no internet access." My computer has begun telling me that I have limited or no connectivity from my wired connection. I have had this problem once before and fixed it by replacing the network card, but that did not work this time. My roommates? computers are wireless and are running fine off the router. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drives. Changed cords, rebooted the router (many times), called the internet provider and they reset the modem and have tried to do system restore but that fails to restore to any prior points as well. Any ideas would be welcome.

I have 6 wireless devices at home: Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium x64
pre-installed, Dell Inspiron ONE 2320 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 pre-
installed, an iPod Touch gen 3, Acer laptop with Ubuntu Linux 11.10, my wife's
Android Blackberry 8230, and a Sony Blu-Ray DVD player. All of these devices--
except my 2 Windows 7 boxes--connect to my wi-fi flawlessly, and they stay
connected without error.

The two Windows computers go through this cycling process of connecting and
disconnecting every few minutes (many times per day). Sometimes just clicking on
my wireless connection in the lower right-hand corner of the screen with the
little yellow triangle with an ! in the middle, clicking disconnect, then clicking
re-connect fixes it. Sometimes I just have to walk away and do something else for
either a short while or a long while, and it will have resolved the problem
itself.

When the 2 Windows PCs have disconnected and are taking a "longer" time to
reconnect (10 minutes), I can at that moment walk over to my Ubuntu laptop or pull up my iPod and get online and stream video or whatever. Or I can stream Netflix to my DVD player or I can browse the web on my wife's Blackberry--and I get the little

Congratulations, you one of the few posters here who has already self diagnosed most every problem I can think of. The ipconfig looks fine. Usually when I see this type of problem it's from channel overlap but it looks like you have that covered.

That said I have no idea what the problem might be. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you are using the latest drivers for your Windows 7 machines. The manufacture's web site is the best place to look for those.

It may be worth while to update the firmware on the router, which ever one is being used I'm not sure.

Hello, I have a problem with the wifi.It detects connections but once I try to connect the result is an error.I tryed to install all the latest drivers but is not working.I tryed automatic updates.... does not work. Using the device manager it seems the problem is related to the PCI and Ethernet device, but I do not know how to fix them.Thanks for your help.

I have Firefox 3.0.5 installed on an XP based system. It works fine when it is connected, but that is the problem. Every time I try to open it I get an error messege. It says "Proxy Server Refused Connection". I can go into tools/options/network/settings and it always shows "Manual proxy configuration". If I change it to "No proxy" or "Auto detect" and click through the OKs, it works fine, but when I close it down it reverts back to "Manual" the next time I start it up.
How do I get it to stay?

Hey guys,

I have an issue specific to my USB 3.0 ports, and its interaction with my external HDD(E-HDD). Whenever I plug in my USB 3.0 capable E-HDD, the computer recognises the drive for a few seconds and then disconnects. This keeps happening while the the E-HDD is still plugged into the port, so it just keeps connecting and then disconnecting. There's hardly enough time to access the drive. The problem seems to be non-existent when I plug the device into the USB 2.0 port. My father has a similar E-HDD and has similar issues with this PC. I've looked high and low on the web for solutions. The ports are part of the motherboard and their drivers I assume come along with the Intel chipset drivers, which I updated but to no avail. I tried adjusting my power options; I disabled, 'USB selective suspend setting' which was also unsuccessful. I'm using an ASUS B-85 plus motherboard and my E-HDD is a WD My Passport 500GB. This E-HDD is accessible on my laptop via its 3.0 port. I think it is safe to say that the E-HDD is not the issue but rather the ports on the computer.

I am connected to my router by ethernet on my desktop. On my laptops, I am connected wirelessly.Only on my desktop do I see this issue: Quite often, a page will sit at Firefox's "Problem loading page" until I click the "Try Again" button a couple times and it works. This happens to sites like Google, Yahoo!, and many others. Then sometimes, a page will be loading (visibly, you can see the page coming up) for about 3 seconds then switch to that page, where I'll again have to refresh until it works. This only happens on my desktop, which is using a stronger (wired) connection. Why?

I am laptop ignorant. I personally prefer a desktop, but my wife desperately desired a laptop.

This expensive pain has a RJ-45 connection on the side. Under the network connections, within the LAN or Highspeed Connections, are an Ethernet Controller, Bluetooth Network and a Wireless Network Controller.

She used to have a dekstop too, so there was obviously an internal modem and a wall splitter.

We normally connect using Broadband DSL with a user name and password into the ISP. Stupid me thought this would work with the Ethernet card as an internal modem - not!

Where in the world should I go from here? Should I get an external modem? A wireless router? What?

I'm sincerely looking for advise.

A wireless router would be your best option, if she wants to be able to use her laptop wirelessly, but she can also use it wired as the laptop has a LAN port.
You could hook the desktop up as a permanant wired connection, so if wireless fails, you have access to the router config.

Before I write further...I desparately need help and as soon as possible..

I have had factor reset to my Thinkpad latop...and I am trying to connect through the VPN to connect to my client systems..

I had to work my way out doing following to be able to connect to the VPN successfuly..

1. Resolve the den2000.sys error by updating the DNE files
2. Resolve the Blue Screen Error after connection by removing vsdata.dll files from the system.

Now the connection to server is succesful, but I am not able to ping the DNS server on my client's domain.

Ran out of ideas...

Seeking an divine intervention...

have several devices... ipad2 toshiba laptop dell laptop... the problem is that only the dell 1501 connects to the network at my friends location all three devices connect at my location meaning they all connect to the network so the problem seems to be an ipconfig issue or default gateway problem... how can i resolve this give me a step by step if possible i suppose it has to do with router not recognizing the specific devices

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here

From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all

Hi All

I have a Linksys Wireless ADSL Router and when I try and connect using the wireless adapter I get a message saying limited or no connectivity, however I have a different laptop which connects without any problems.

When I disable the WPA security on the router I can connect no problems...

Any advise would be helpful.

Make sure you have the latest driver for the wireless adapter. Does it support WPA?

Any chance of wireless interference (e.g., 2.4Ghz cordless phone or another network on the same or close channel)? Sometimes interference has a bigger negative impact on secured networks.

Hello. I am a new user to Techguy.org

I just purchased a new computer. It works fine except for 1 thing. The internet. Every so often I will get disconnected from the internet because of Limited Connectivity. When this happens, I close the internet and after about 20 seconds I get Local and Internet Back. It is very annoying. It happens mostly when I play World of Warcraft. I will log in, play for 30seconds to 2 Minutes and then get disconnected because of the Limited Connectivity problem.

I have tried resetting the router, I have called verizon and had many live chats with thier agents and none have helped me..
Here are some information I think would be usefull to someone trying to help me fix my problem.

I am using an Actiontec M1424-WR Router.
I am using a Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device. Its the antenna in the back of the computer that gives me my wireless connection.
I am using the connection Wirelessly.
I have Verizon FiOS internet service.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium

Also there is no possible way for me to wire the computer and the router
I have gone into the router settings and tried to mess around with stuff and still nothing works.

I have tried to update drivers for the devices and everything seems to be up to date.
It will work for maybe 15-20 minutes using the internet and maybe 2 minutes before getting the limited connectivity issue playing World Of Warcraft.

This problem starts a couple of days ago when I went to upgrade iTunes (after successful installing more RAM on my machine that same day) and revived a message that the iTunes upgrade couldn't be completed because bonjour could not be found in the expected location. After searching online, I read that I needed to delete and reinstall bonjour. I tried deleting with Add/Remove programs, but wasn't able to. Then I downloaded Revo Uninstalled to remove bonjour. My first attempt wasn't successful, so I then selected "Advanced" mode of Revo and deleted all the bolded items suggested by Revo that might be bonjour related. cannot connect to wifi signal,  wifi signal shows up , gives option to connect, but just spins and spins, when i try to connect.  recognizes wifi siganl when i am in the room with router gets 5 bars. I have a client that has a Dell Latitude D620 running Windows 7 32 bit. It was previously able to connect to the company wireless, but now doesn't even see any available connections. I have downloaded all of the current drivers. We run ESET anti virus and Barracuda WSA. Other similar computers running the same programs have no issue. Any suggestions?

In both IE and Chrome, i can't connect to any websites.  Just get a "Waiting For" forever.  I pinged google.com from command prompt and got response on all four hits.  Other devices on same wireless work just fine, and this says its connected without issues (via "troubleshooter")
 
Any ideas of what could the issue?

Hello

I can't find a solution to my wireless issue (as I seem to be the only one with it) where my computer takes about 2 minutes (sometimes longer) to connect to any wireless router every time I wake it up from sleep mode or turn on/restart it. This has happened ever since I updated my Intel PROSet/Wireless driver. Trying to troubleshoot the problem myself, I disabled everything that has to do with Intel PROSet/Wireless services and noticed that my wireless connection still works without it. It was a while ago when I updated the drivers and have been unable to fix the problem since then (Uninstalling PROSet/Wireless made my wireless adapter not work, saying it did not have any drivers installed). I wish to get this issue resolved so I can easily fix the next ones.

I've been having problems connecting to FF and IE after installing several Windows updates. On Firefox I can only connect to my university email page, every other webpage is either blank or gives the "connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" error. IE states that it cannot display the webpage and flashes ieframe.dll error in the bottom left corner when loading up. Diagnostics check found no problems and all applications that need Internet connectivity, such as AIM, work perfectly fine. I've tried doing a system restore to the settings before the update, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, turning off firewalls, clearing cookies/temp internet files/cache, disabling Phishing filter in IE, disabling IPV6, etc. and nothing seems to really work. After clearing data IE did seem to work briefly last night, but stopped working this morning. Any suggestions on what else I can try? Thank you.

Well the same this just happened to me about 2 hours ago when I updated Firefox and none of the solutions posted on this website worked for me. (As I was having a major panic attack) I tried restoring my computer to yesterday's settings, go to

Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore->Next->**Select a Restore Point [Click on the day before you updated Mozilla Firefox]->Click Next->Click Restore and it will automatically restart your computer do not press anything else. It may take a couple of minutes.

Restoring your computer is like going back in time so to speak. Your computer will be in the exact same state as it was the date in which you choose. Don't worry THIS CAN BE UNDONE. Just go back to the same place and click undo last System Restore (though you shouldn't find any need to). This method has worked for me several times as a quick-fix for times when my computer has crashed or I've downloaded things that have messed up my computer.

My computer gave me a blue screen and after the restart my connection kept saying "limited or no connectivity." I tried resetting my router, modem, and computer with no success. In addition it would not allow me to access my router configuration wizard in firefox or IE. I am convinced that this issue is the result of a virus or some other malware. I am using windows xp. Ok so i have home premium 64bit and a d link 624 and im getting a limited connectivity issue. If i restart the router while the computer is on it will connect just fine, but not if the router is on before the computer.

However that is only if I have WPA enabled. If i have the router unsecured it works fine even if the computer is on before the router. I am using WPA TKIP and PSK. Any ideas?

hi all,

I am having a problem with my wifi. i am currently using a 1000HE netbook. my pc crashed a few days ago and need to reformat my hdd and reinstall everything

everything was working like a charm in the past though

basically i am using a modem cum router to connect to the internet

if i uses the LAN line, i can connect to the internet without problem

but when i try to connect using wireless, it gave me the "limited or no connectivity issue"

again, i used the same netbook and same modem cum router in the past without problem.

not sure what's wrong this time

Hi, I have HP 15-r014TX Notebook pc with Windows 10 ( 64 bit). My internet was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10. Hi.
My friend and I have been having a network issue for quite some time and have not been able to figure out the problem.
The problem is this: we cannot connect to each other in games when using Hamachi or Tunngle. Also when attempting to play GTA IV online together without Hamachi or Tunngle, we cannot connect to each others games. When my friend is on a public server, I can join but he is removed from the server. When I am on a server, he simply cannot join.

This problem becomes ever more weird due to the fact this this issue is not affecting my connectivity with any other people. In other words, I can connect to anyone else though Hamachi, Tunngle and GTA with ease. My friend can also do the same with other people. It's just that when me and him try, it always fails.
Port forwarding did not solve the problem with either GTA IV, Hamachi or Tunngle.

The three applications, Hamachi, Tunngle and GTA IV Online, are the only times when this problem occurs, so far. There are many other online games that we can actually play together with no problem.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have been looking this issue up for ages, with no luck.
