I have been having issues with lagging keystrokes and slow operation. I have Windows 7 (64bit). I mostly experience the lag when online. I will attach the HJT and dds logs. Any help is much appreciated. THanks

Preferred Solution: Computer Lagging/Slow Keystroke

I recommend downloading and trying SP Photo Recovery. It will help find and retrieve your lost files.

I've used it in the past to recover photos, music, videos, and other multimedia files, regardless if the file has been deleted, lost, damaged or corrupted.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/UDbKNE. (This link will open the download page so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Computer Lagging/Slow Keystroke

Run tdss killer from http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684
let it cure anything it fnds ( except SPTD.SYS or anything detected as UnsignedFile.Multi.Generic, which should be ignored) & then reboot
post back with its log
By default, the utility outputs the log into system disk (it is usually the disk with installed operating system, C:\) root folder.
Logs have names like: UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.
E.g. C:\TDSSKiller.2.4.7_23.07.2010_15.31.43_log.txt

Hello & hope you might be able to help.

I have been trying to figure out what is causing the notebook to several slow down with very slow response to keyboard/mouse or any tasks.  I have a Lenovo Y550 notebook and have been trying to determine if this is a virus or software conflict for several months.

After using multiple tabs in Firefox or Chrome (ebay, photo's, lots of searches & facebook games), the system will start to slow down, cpu usage then goes to 80-85%, disk activity is completely solid in the Resource Monitor & the fan will run - usually until I shutdown the computer.
I have read many of your tutorials & removed software, changed anti-virus packages, ran checkdisk, and updated video drivers.
Running CCleaner about 4-5 times a day.
Malwarebytes, Avast & Defender have not found any problems at all - this is somewhat of a concern also.
Receiving no errors at all.
Even upgraded internet to Uverse 18Mbps - which has not helped.

I am not very technical - enough to be dangerous.  I have spent sooo much time trying to figure this out and realized I need help.   Thanks so much in advance !! :-)

FYI...This is what the resource monitor typically looks like:

A:Computer slow.. Browsing pretty slow.. browser loads lagging.. help me pls

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.    Scan with FRST in normal modePlease download Farbar's Recovery Scan Tool to your desktop: FRST 32bit or FRST 64bit (If not sure: Start --> Computer (right click) --> properties)Run FRST. I'm not sure what's been happening lately, but my laptop has been running kind of laggy and slow. My specs are as follows:

Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium M
1.60Ghz
1.12GB RAM
30GB HD (19.1GB Free)
Software: Avast! AV, Comodo Firewall

I initially thought that my computer would only slow after I started Trillian, but I tested this (by not starting Trillian), and it seems it will still slow a few minutes after a restart. Restarting my laptop seems to solve this problem temporarily.

I have run the following programs to test out any problems, but they all come back clean:

Chkdsk
Defrag
Avast virus scan
Spybot S&D
Lavasoft Ad-Aware

Keeping it in safe mode (I'm posting in Safe Mode w/ Networking right now) seems to also keep the problem at bay.

Help?

Thanks!

Hello im having problems making my computer run at normal speed. It has been running slow for awhile now but recently VERY SLOW. It takes forever to boot up and any program I open also takes an eternity. Once the program is running it works fine.
I have scanned the computer w/ norton, malwarebytes anti-malware and spybot.
I removed all the harmful files. Spybot seemed to make it run slower.
In the task manager the CPU usage is at 100%. There are about 80 processes when I boot up the system.(seems like a lot)
I uninstalled a bunch of programs I never use to free up some more space and I also tried restoring it to an earlier date.
I gave it the newest updates for windows.
I deleted all the programs I dont need from the start up.
Today I tried running Malwarebytes' anti-malware today and it TIMED OUT!! taskmanager said program was unresponsive.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I have to wipe my hard drive??? Please help!!! It is a Sony VAIO laptop.

A:My slow lagging computer

<<I removed all the harmful files.>>

That seems to always be a presumption...by those who get infected. Of course, it's not necessarily true but users seem to like to say/believe it.

I guess that I have to ask...was your system infected?

Any error messages during this troubled period?

Hi,

My computer seems to be running slow! So annoying, especially lagging when i'm watching clips or editing. I actually have 1GB of RAM so i'm just wondering if i'm running too many programs because surely that should be sufficient for what i do. I usually fill up my HD actually, but even after getting the space back it still seems slower then it should be. I do a lot of movie editorial work so i need the space!

My Computer Specs:

AMD Athlon XP
950 Mhz, 1.00 GB of RAM
(Partitioned HDs)
Z:/ 120GB

A:Slow Lagging Computer

Let's remove Panda completely first to see if it alleviates the problem. Make sure you install another antivirus program back though because as of now, you have no antivirus program running...

Download this file and save it on your desktop. Double click on it to run it and follow the directions...that should uninstall Panda completely.

I just recently started having trouble with computer moving slow. When i boot up it seems fine. I have cable connection. When i go into websites like msn it takes forever for me to get into anything. I ran spybot and removed a BUNCH of stuff. But it is still happening. Do I need to stop stuff at start up? If so how do I know what to stop? How can I find out what's running in the background? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about computers other than mines slow all of a sudden

Hello,

I am trying to help out my mother on her computer and considering you guys helped me out on mine, I figured I should come back.

Anyways, the problem with this computer is it has a lot of junk files, folders and things on it, yet I am not sure which files and folders are needed and which are not. Along with that problem, we have the bad lag. Sometimes it takes quite a few minutes to load Windows itself as well as programs.

My mother runs a eBay business and enjoys downloading games and music, so I know that is some cause of the slowing down of her computer.

Attatched is a Hijack This log.

Thank you in advance.

First of all I'm blaming it all on ram since this computer only has 256mb. But anyways it used to be a lot faster (by a lot faster I mean it didn't take 10 minutes to boot up and load everything). I would understand it if I installed a lot of things, but the thing is I barely installed anything and even at that, I didn't install any high memory consuming programs, all I have is basically a kodak program, avast and some hp software. So out of the 40gb I still have like 33 free.

I have scanned with every program I thought off and find no adware/virus/trojans etc. But I still feel there's something not right.

Can anyone tell me if this Hijack log has anything strange. On other news the comp doesn't have the dvd rom installed either. It's not installed in the hardware manager and it obviously doesn't show on the "My computer" tab. It was working when the comp. came out the package, so that's another reason i'm suspecting something gone wrong. Tried deleteling the upper and lower filters and still no dvd rom recognition. I'm going to run a Registry cleaning tool... any recommendations on this?.

So anyway:

Hello

My computer has been running very slow lately and lagging when i I am watching videos on youtube. I looked at the programs I'm running in task manager and saw that something called svchost.exe has been taking up the most memory (40000 or so) when everyhting else is around 20000. Anyways, I ran a DDS scan and a GMER scan. But while running the GMER scan, I got a BSOD saying that a file "pxpdakod.sys" was the problem. Here is my DDS scan:

Hi,

Below is the HJT Log, could someone please review this. Most of the downloaded programs (O16) on my log are not showing up on my add/remove list. The only program that I still use is Ofoto. If they are not showing up on my add/remove list, then how can I remove these from my computer?

Also, on my add/remove list there is a "BUM" ... I'm not sure what this is and have not seen it on there before. Could someone tell me what this is and if I should remove it?

My computer runs extreme slow and I end up rebooting two/three times an hour. Sometimes there is a lag every few minutes. Most of the time when I reboot my computer I lose my internet connection and need to unplug my cable modem and if that doesn't work, then I reboot again till I get my connection back.

If there is additional information needed, please let me know.

Thank you for your help.
Lisa

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15 (7548) which has i7-5500U, 16gb RAM, AMD Radeon R7 M265 4GB.

Problem I'm having is that the laptop is laggy and sometimes freezes.

I've noticed the disk usage sits at 100% most of the time.

I've just upgraded it to windows 10 in the hope that windows 8 was causing the issue but it has stayed the same.

Any help with this (as it makes the laptop slower than my 5 year old laptop which I replaced) would be greatly receieved!

Thanks!

Also, if I do reset while the monitor is still connected, it's working ok (but this is not a good solution for me as I want to keep the work evniornment).I tried playing with Display settings but nothing seems to help, maybe the community can please help me?

Hello,I recently installed software that apparently contains malware. My computer's symptoms include a little slow on startup, after use of more than 30 minutes the computer becomes extremely slow at doing anything (looking at My Computer in Windows Explorer takes 5 minutes), it freezes (especially Firefox and Windows Explorer) and, in one incident, the computer failed to wake up from sleep mode (lights reactivated but screen was "off" [not black, "off"], no response, repeated attempts to wake it up failed). I am on an XP2 home edition pc - toshiba satellite celeron. Within the past few days, I've had a terrible time with slow keystroke response. I first noticed this a month or so ago whilst in the MSN Spaces blog sites on just a few of the spaces that I frequented. Now, it seems to be every place (even here while I'm typing this). However, it doesn't seem to be a problem with MSN messenger, or Skype. I've run 2 different spyware apps (Spyware doctor & spybot search & destroy) and a full virus scan (avast). I did a restore back to June 13, prior to the Microsoft updates. Still the slow response is happening. I did install the Retrospect 6.5 backup software for the external Western Digital hard drive prior to having this problem. As of this moment, I have not uninstalled that - hoping that it is not the problem. Can someone help? TIA bbbbren

How do I find out what keystroke monitoring program is on our computer? I looked through all the programs but nothing looks familiar. I'm not sure if my password will work since my husband controls all of it but it's worth a try. Of course, searching will have to be at a minimum since he monitors the keystrokes.

In the last 10 days I have logged into my online banking and had 3 notifications that someone has tried to log into my account but have not gotten past my personal verification questions.  I have changed my password 3 times now in those 10 days, the last password change was from a computer at work.  I have not had any other attempts shown when I log into my banking, which I am now doing only from work. I have run a scan on my home computers with the antivirus software (Trend Micro), and checked for malware with Malwarebytes.  I did this just prior to the last time I got the notification from my banking site that someone had tried to log in.  So does that mean I may have a keystroke logger on one of my 2 home computers?I am looking for programs to run to check my home computers other than the 2 I have listed above.  I am not hugely computer savy, but I can follow directions.  I would certainly like to be able to log into my banking from home without the worry about my password being misused. The one glitch is that when I log into my banking I also have to answer a personal verification question, if I had a keystroke logger on my computer would they not be able to get this along with my password? I am confused and concerned.Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum.~ Animal

A:Possible keystroke logger on computer

As a precaution, you should also change your personal verification questions and answers.

Please run TDSSKiller.

Please download TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop.

1.  Doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then click on Change parameters.

2.  Check Loaded Modules, Verify Driver Digital Signature, and Detect TDLFS file system.

If you are asked to reboot because an "Extended Monitoring Driver is required" please click Reboot now.

3.  Click Start Scan and allow the scan process to run.

4.  If threats are detected select Cure (if available) for all of them unless otherwise instructed.

***Do NOT select Delete!

Click on Continue.

5.  Click on Reboot computer.

Please copy the TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt file found in your root directory (typically c:\) and paste it into your next reply.

Please post the Malwarebytes log.

To find your Malwarebytes log, download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop.

To open the log double click on mbam-check.exe on your desktop.  When the log opens, scroll down toward the bottom of the log to Quarantined Items.  Copy and paste this in your next post.

I need help once again. Apparently someone was able to load a keystoke logger program, which locked me out of my email for a few days. Also, I've noticed my computer running very slow, freezing up, etc. I know that my daughter received something from her myspace, because her account, and then mine, was sending family members porn. THIS did not go over well with the family!

I've ran an initial hijack this. I know how to scan, I always need help in what to remove. Thanks for assisting me once again.

Hi, I've had this problem for a while now. After visiting certain websites I experience a computer freeze for about 1 minute and then keystroke lag.
The computer continues to lag until a restart is performed.
Websites that cause this are facebook and linkedin, and also opening iTunes.
However, accessing facebook via:
https://www.facebook.com - causes freeze and lag
http://www.facebook.com - does not cause freeze and lag
However, logging out of facebook then causes freeze and lag
Can anyone please help?

Any suggestions please?

It takes forever to load up the proper window when I simply right click on something for example. I am assuming this is because of cookies / something of that sort that have accumulated on my computer. Does anyone know how to clear these or fix this type of problem? Thank you for your assistance

I am completely stumped as to why videos tend to lag & freeze my screen for 10 second intervals, aswell as cause my browser to freeze with a busy icon. I've tried everything I know to do with no progress. I've tried numerous different browsers with no luck, scanning for viruses/spyware/malware, cleaned history, temp & cookies...aswell as disabling firewalls, cycling my router/modem & making sure all of my drivers are up to date. My computer should handle everything just fine.

Specs:

System Manufacturer: BIOSTAR
Processor: AMD Phenom IIx4 905se (4 CPUs) 2.5GHz
Memory: 8 Gigabytes of Corsair DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Storage: 60 Gigabyte Corsair Nova (Solid State) with 25 Gigs free aswell as a 500 Gigabyte Toshiba external with 375 Gigabytes free
My old computer (which is now my wifes) has half the specs of my current, is setup for wireless & runs everything just fine. My pc is hardwired & I am running Windows 7 (64 Bit)

A:Slow loading videos & lagging

Run Error Checker on the system hard drive.
Defragment the system hard drive.
Test the system hard drive with manufacturer's diagnostic utility. Links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

You may want to test the RAM modules as well (you need to make a CD for doing that) with Memtest86: http://www.memtest.org/

hi

my computer has become quite slow, and i randomly have an error box pop up then disapear. it doesn't say anything, it just appears in the tool bar. Sometimes the pics in websites don't show up, and my cable isp has slowed down. It takes a while for my computer to start up lately, and i've run ewido anti malware in safe mode. It hasn't really helped at all. I've run it twice in a week, and it has the same number of infected files. I'm including a HJT. Some programs that i've tried to remove using the Add and Remove tool won't remove itself from the list. Also, there is something in my list of programs called I.R.I.S. OCR registration. I don't remember downloading this, and i'm afraid to register because i don't know what it is.

thanks!

I'm a noob with this so please understand some ignorance on my end. Thanks in advance for any help!

I recently upgraded my Windows Vista home premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 home premium (64bit). Now everything takes forever to load (run) if it even loads at all. The CPU itself is only running at 15% when I can get task manager to load but the memory usage is at 66% (3 gigs).

I'm currently running a Gateway FX6800-01
Core i7-920
3GB of DDR3
Radeon HD 4850
Creative?s X-Fi XtremeGamer sound

I'm not sure what to do... BTW Safe Mode works fine.. aside from not being able to update anything properly.

Hi JustBob286,

Did you run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before upgrading? It would have alerted you to any hardware compatibility issues or failures to meet system requirements.

Type "WEI" in the Start Menu search field and click "Check Windows Experience Index." Tell us what your scores are.

Cheers,

Walker

EDIT: I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess it's your 3 GB RAM. 64-bit Windows 7 is designed to run optimally with 4 GB or more: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...sked-questions
