Unable to install Realtek HD Audio driver (Error 0x00000002)

Q: Unable to install Realtek HD Audio driver (Error 0x00000002)

My motherboard is ASUS P8P67-M Pro. The manufacturer doesn't mention any drivers for Windows 10 x64 on their website as you can see here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67M_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/ I tried to use Windows 8.1 x64 drivers, Windows 8 x64 drivers and Windows 7 x64 drivers. None of them worked. I even tried to download drivers directly from Realtek website, it didn't work as well. I am pretty sure the drivers should be fine and work, but I think there is a problem with my operating system. I remember in the past I tried to install printer drivers and I had issues as well (while it worked fine on another PC, only this PC had issues installing the driver) and I also have problem installing the new feature update (Windows 1703), it always ends up with an error, so I can't update to this version as well.
I don't know what to do and I was thinking about re-installing windows, but it is very time consuming for me and I prefer a short solution to resolve this.
Is there any chance someone has any idea how to resolve this problem?
Thank you

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hope someone can help me out with my audio problems...

I have an ASUS A54C laptop less than a month old.
-Windows 7, service pack 1.
64 bit.

About a week ago Asus live update automatically installed some updates (I didn't realise I could disable auto update, still getting used to this laptop)
when it restarted a few errors kept popping up and the webcam was not working. After googling I came across forum posts saying you have to manually download the drivers from the website. After doing that the webcam software showed a message "no audio device found" I thought ok, no problem I'll just re-install the audio driver (I had done this a few weeks previously because the built in mic was acting up).

The first half of installation completed, laptop restarted but then gave me the following error when trying to complete the second half:

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!
[Error Code: 0x00000002]

Things I've already tried:
-I have tried several times to install the audio driver
-Tried installing different versions
- downloading directly from realtek
-System restore a couple times but it failed.
-Updated the BIOS (although I have no idea what this actually does)

I don't know what else to do.
Please help!

Look in Device Manager under the Sound, Video, Game Controllers section for the Realtek High Definition Audio device and see what it says there as far as the driver info. This is where the real driver info is located. Do not look under the Audio Inputs and Outputs section.

I am unable to find a suitable driver for my computer. I have a Compaq Presario R3000AP 3.2 GHz 2.5GB Ram and have upgraded to windows 7 with SP1.
I did a clean install and all the windows 7 drivers were installed and are compatible except for the Realtek AC'97 audio driver.

I downloaded and installed the Realtek AC'97 Codecs from the Realtek website, but unfortunately this was unsuccessful . Then I downloaded and installed the SP29586 Realtek AC'97 Driver version 6.0.1.6305 from the HP website and this was also unsuccessful. Finally I downloaded from the Microsoft website the same Audio Driver version 6.0.1.6305 and installed it but unfortunately again this was unsuccessful.

In the Device manager under Sound, video and game controllers it show below "Realtek AC'97 Audio device", version 6.0.1.6305 but in properties is shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

Windows 7 does recognize the sound device, but is unable to completely install it, even though under the "driver file details tab" it show drivers installed in the windows directory.

I understand that Microsoft does not support the Realtek driver, but there must be some kind of fix or even someone out there that is able to rewrite the driver somehow.

Seems a shame to have to get a new computer because of this, as it is very fast with windows 7 even though it is only a Pentium 4.

I have no more options and I am asking for help. PLEASE!

I installed a Nvidia GT710 and the drivers for it, I forgot to uncheck the Nvidia audio drivers since i wouldnt be using HDMI and didnt need them anyway. This broke the realtek drivers already in the system.

So after removing everything audio related, and the nvidia drivers, i reinstalled the nvidia drivers without the nvidia audio.
Then went to install the realtek drivers again to get my onboard audio back.
Nothing seems to work, the drivers from HP dont work, the drivers directly from realtek dont work, their newest drivers dont work, a few different driver finder programs dont work, ive got nothing. I dont even get an audio mixer panel, opening it up in the control panel just shows "No Audio hardware"

I know its not a hardware issue, i still get the occasional beep from confirmation boxes and such.

I have no idea what to do about this, any help is appreciated, thank you.

I Hope someone can help me with this.
Previously, I had the Realtek HD Audio Driver package installed along with Nvidia on my win xp system. Worked like a charm. Could go into NVIDIA Control panel and there I had the options "Realtek" for playing sound through my computer, or Panasonic (Nvidia HDMI connection to my TV. Now I have windows 8 God help me! "Talk about "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

In the Nvidia Control Panel Audio Setup, now the only two options offered in the sound setup window are:
DVI: "No audio capable display available" (Greyed out! )
HDMI: Panasonic TV
It also shows sound readings for Panasonic (TV), Speakers, Earphones and Microphone. But if I try to switch from TV to Speakers (computer) it either doesn't make the switch and I lose the tv sound and end up with no sound reading in any category. I eventually get the tv sound back by repeating the setup process several times. I am hoping that installing the Realtek driver will make switching as simple as it was and that maybe not having it installed is the problem.

But now I got another fresh problem. The game kept on crashing, I checked out what the problem was, and sure as hell, it was the sound card driver.

So I used some guide, uninstalled the driver I had, and downloaded the newest Realtek driver, that's supposed to support W7, although when I try to install the driver er get..

"Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software", no matter how often I press "Install this driver software anyway" it keeps on poping up!!

How can I bypass this problem, or solve it?

When I got to add/remove programs, it shows that HD Audio can be uninstalled, but I don't know if that means it's working. From reading around on the internet, some people said the HD Audio driver solved their problem, but I'm not sure if mine is actually working or not. Hi guys, im in a serious trouble here and i need help from you guys. My computer is working fine , but just recently , i've download the latest realtek driver,R228, from the realtek official website. During the installation , the program requires me to uninstall the current audio driver , which they did it automatically for me when i click the ok button. After they had uninstall my current driver , i reboot , following all the instructions given , and now im not able to install the realtek audio driver. I recieve "Install realtek hd audio driver failure error code : 0x00000057".

I did search for solutions for days, but all the solutions doesn't apply to me. I've tried the famous solution , which is to disable and uninstall the UAA driver, but the problem is, i don't even have the UAA driver in my device manager. Im using Window Vista business 32 bit. My motherboard is biostar g31-m7 te.

I've uninstall all the realtek drivers , and do a driver cleaning with a driver sweeper program. I've even disable the on-board audio in the bios setting.

Any idea how can i solve this problem? Really need help. Thanks alot in advance.

If SP3, see if Windows can find and install the right driver for you. Open Device Manager. Do you see your sound card? (Probably listed with a yellow icon) right click it, select Update Driver and let Windows search for the right driver

Realtek HD Audio Manager is a software driver used on Windows computers. It handles recording and playback of audio programs. It is required for many audio programs to operate.

While Realtek HD Audio Drivers is a tool that allows you to listen to audio in HD on your PC.

Stereo Mix is used to transfer audio that the PC is playing to recording software such as Audacity, so that you can record what you?re hearing.

When one upgrade their OS like in your case from XP to Win7 with the same motherboard and sound card it is always advised & recommended to download the latest soundcard driver, because the only thing that had changed was the operating system.

The advice is not to go to windows for it, but to go to the motherboard manufacturer, because it would be specialised for the system rather than ... Read more

Hi,I accidently bent a capacitor on my X-Fi sound card while I was replacing my motherboard since the chipset messed up, and there's no sound coming out of my speakers, yet the sound card is still detected. Anyways, I'd like to use my new motherboard's integrated sound card, however the driver won't install. I get the error code "-5009 : 0x80040707". I used to have the same Realtek sound card on my older motherboard, but I uninstalled the driver for it once I got my X-Fi. I'm guessing the uninstallation wasn't completely successful, perhaps there are still some Realtek driver files that's causing a conflict with installing the driver. I tried installing the Realtek driver from the motherboard CD and from Realtek's website, but they both get the same error code.Is there any way I could fix this without reinstalling Windows XP?UPDATE:Ugh, I just found out that the Realtek soundcard drivers most likely don't have anything to do with this error.I'm getting it in "FEARCOMBAT" as well. Can a moderator please move this thread to the proper section?

I installed the Realtek HD audio driver from the ASUS download site (P8Z68-V Pro MB) and all was well until I installed an MSI 560TI video card and let it install the Nvidia HD Audio drivers. The problem I have been chasing ever since was the Realtek HD Audio Manager popping up after the system exited extended sleep state (overnight). After much trial and tribulation and several Google Searches I concluded that the Realtek/ASUS HD Audio driver was conflicting with the Nvidia driver(s).

I did what suggested on one of the sites and that was to delete the Realtek HD Audio drivers and just let W7 install the default Microsoft drivers. Problem gone! Now I am curious, what did I give up and if I install the latest Realtek driver for W7 64-bit (v267) from the Realtek site will the Nvidia conflict return?

A:ASUS/Realtek, Latest Realtek versus default W7 Audio driver

Generally the Microsoft installed HD Audio Codec does not have all the features the motherboard vendor's sound drivers do. In most cases the actual driver is preferred and should be installed instead of the generic HD Audio Code drivers.

The NVIDIA driver is for the Video and the build in audio for HDMI audio. It should not be interferring with the PC's sound and in this case Realtek. I would uninstall the Microsoft drivers and reinstall the RealTek and see if you still have the problem. Generally a driver causes problems when exiting from sleep mode. Actually on "extended" sleep mode of overnight its really better to just shut down the system and then reboot in the morning. If you want it to be operational when you wake up, the BIOS should have an option for auto power on at whatever time you set.

I just reset my system using Windows Recovery, and now I have no sound to my speakers, although I can get sound through my monitor which is connected with HDMI. Device manager has 2 entries under SOUND. There's "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC." I know the IDT one used to play to my speakers, but I can't get it to install a driver, and it doesn't appear under Playback Devices in the sound settings. When I try installing/updating  the driver, it reports that "Windows ecountered a problem installing the driver for your device" and "A device attached to the system is not functioning." I've reset my system a number of times before and never had this problem crop up. Can anyone help?

I've posted this on another website forum, but they haven't replied and it's been five days now.

Let me start from the very beginning!

I have an Acer Aspire 3050 Vista 32-bit Home Basic laptop. If you need anymore details, please let me know.

A week ago I finally figured out that you have to mute the speakers in Realtek HD Audio Device so the sound would play through the headphones. About two days after that, no sound would come through the headphones, but would come from the speakers. So my sister suggested we un-install Realtek. I did and then I re-installed it and re-started the computer.

When the computer booted back on, a little thing at the bottom said "installing latest drivers" and then I had to click "allow" to let it search for audio. A few moments later, a box popped up that said it found the audio device but "This operation requires an interactive window station." Yes, that one...

I have enabled UAC since I don't have to click allow on the restricted areas, and I have tried many many suggestions from other forums, but none of them have worked.

I know it's not a hardware problem considering when I'm in BIOs and try to go backwards, beeps come from the speakers so they are working fine. And I'm guessing the "No Audio Output Device is installed" is because I'm not able to update the drivers. Also when I go into Device Manager, there isn't an option for "Sound, audio, or... Read more

Help. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit (on my HP Vista 32 machine). Life is grand! My problems started when I tried to listen to the microphone input through my speakers. The front microphone inputs did not work so I downlaed the Realtek HD Audio Drivers (recently updated) from the realtek site. The inputs now work and I can record from the microphone through the Sound Recorder app in Accessories but can not hear the microphone through the speakers while I am recording. After searching the web I noticed a lot of chatter about setting things up in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. This app does not show up in my control panel. Does anyone know where I can get it (if I really need it). The Realtek site only has the driver download (not the manager). Am I missing something, am I confused, or both?

Hey TS team,

Last week, I bought a new PC. Specs are:
a) ASUS Motherboard P5GD2 (audio is onboard)
b) Intel Celeron Pentium IV 3.00GHz
c) XP Pro

1. Problem
- I installed XP Pro
- Could not install Audio Driver <CMI9880 High Definition Audio Drivers> provided on the CD that comes with the motherboard
- Error message: "Device doesn't exist or maybe removed by manually,
Please plug in device or reboot and try install again" **Attachments 1/2**

2. Failed solutions
a) Reboot does not solve the problem
b) Onboard HD Audio is enabled in BIOS, does not fix the error

2.1 Solutions in progress
- Deleting all other drivers, but having problems **Attachments 3/4**
- I am however unable to uninstall the drivers in Attachment 4. How do i do this?

I have been living in a world of soundlessness (parody to world of warcraft) for a week now. Googling has not been able to fix my problem, however a good reference would be http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...p/t-68808.html

Hope i can get some expert advice here,
Leon

Hello and Welcome to TSF

By looking at the attachment you supplied I see no conflicts/issues in the Device Manager pertaining to your audio.

What makes you think you have no sound? Are you positive your speakers are in working order?
When you place the motherboard disc in the cdrom did you select to install or did you pick and chose what you wanted to install off of it ?

Hello, recently I had to reformat due to a hard drive failure and I just finished reinstalling Windows Vista 32x back on my system. Now, however, my audio driver no longer updates as it keeps erroring out, after some research I found that it was my Microsoft UAA driver that was having problems. Now, I have fixed this problem in the past and simply updated my UAA driver but I no longer remember where I got it from. I have scoured the internet and so far have not found the proper UAA driver for Windows Vista and I have read that it is supposed to be in a Windows update but considering my Windows says its up-to-date I have yet to see it.

Any suggestions will help greatly and here are my computer specs:

Windows Vista 32bit service pack 2
Pentium Core2 Quad @ 2.40 GHz
Nvidia 220 GT
3gigs of RAM
300 MB hard drive
Intel SATA RAID motherboard
Sigmatel IDT HD audio

I have updated my motherboard driver recently but the problem hasn't changed.

Thanks in advanced.

Edit: This is the error I get from trying to install my audio driver _ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again which I do and still same error.

What is manufacturer, model # of your system? Look on label for exact model number.

I installed Windows 8 Enterprise today for testing purposes, I did it for my father too, and I was happy seeing, how well it works. So I did the same on my PC too, but I have one serious problem. I can't install the audio driver at all!

When I try to install it starts installing it, it copies the files of the control panel, and at the end I got error 0xE0000247.

I was "googleing" this error message, and everything I found was related to Windows XP SP3 or other Windows versions, so it wasn't helpful.
So here is the list I tried:

-run the installer in compatibility mode (the driver itself is marked as Windows 8 x64 compatible, but I gave it a try).

-try to install the driver via device manager, it didn't work, once my PC restarted. I must note, there are TWO High Definition Audio device in device manager, I guess, one of them is the videocard's HDMI driver. I installed ATI driver, -I expected, one of them will change, but both of them are still the same.

-I removed the drivers, reset computer, drivers installed back automatically.

-Removed the drivers, reset PC, start the installer. No error this time! But nothing happened. It was looking like a successful installation (compatibility mode was disabled on the installer), I could choose restart now or restart later, so it was looking good. But on taskbar, the speaker icon had that white cross in red circle mark. (I removed the two drivers, so that was because of that, but if the driver was really installed, it sho... Read more

A:Can't install driver for Realtek Realtek ALC660/861.

Win XP drivers are not compatible with Vista/Win7/Win8. Some audio functions are handled differently in later Windows versions and the reason XP drivers will not work, or work properly.

If you can't find a driver that will work with that Foxconn motherboard you will have to install a separate PCI (or PCIeX1) sound card that is compatible.

After installing W8 on a Toshiba satellite laptop, all went well except Realtek AC97 won't install. Re-installing the driver didn't work. Windows reveals a code 10 and mentions the driver did not install correctly. Naturally there are no sound devices present with this occurrence. Plugging in an external USB sound device (creative sound blaster) works perfectly, just not as convenient as having the internal Realtek AC97 sound device working. BTW, this is not an HD sound driver, it's the regular Realtek driver. Tried a driver download from three additional sources w/o success.

A:Realtek AC97 audio driver (not HD driver)

Compatibility mode did the trick.

I am in the process of installing software in my new Vista Business 64-bit machine, which uses two Intel Xeon CPUs. This machine was configured by Dell and came with a Sound Blaster X-FI sound card, which works fine.

Today I tried to install a US Interface Navigator device which includes an internal sound card. The Navigator has a USB connection with my computer. I had on hand 64-bit drivers furnished by US Interface, and installation went ok. Following instructions I then connected the Navigator to the USB port of the computer, which sensed several new USB devices and installed them all OK except for the USB Audio CODEC, which the Navigator people tell me should be part of Vista. At this point Vista gave me an error message box telling me that it "found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it." Below this it displays an image of a speaker with the words "USB Audio Device". It then states "The system cannot find the file specified."

I have been told that driver software for a USB Audio CODEC is part of standard Vista. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A:Vista 64-bit USB Audio Device driver install error

My problem seems to be solved. I was able to find someone else with a similar system and a working USB Audio CODEC drive. Among the list of driver files for his device was the file USBAUDIO.sys. A search of my system drive found that there were three files with this name, one of which had a date of 2006 and was smaller than the other two files. The two larger files both had a date of 01/20/2008. Note that my computer was purchased brand new from Dell in late September, 2008.

I then proceded to attempt another install, and when the screen came up asking me where to look for the driver, I browsed to a folder in the \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wdma_usb.inf_cb86604b and let the driver installation procede. I was presented with a large red warning that this driver was not signed, but clicked the go ahead anyway button and the installation proceded without incident.

My Navigator device works great, and in Device Manager the location of the device has been moved from Portable Devices to Sound, video and game controllers.

I just installed a new hard driver in a HP 734g computer that had a bad drive. I've installed a clean copy of Windows XP Pro an installed all the necessary drivers EXCEPT the Multimedia Audio Controller. Going to HP's site, it would appear to be Realtek AC'97 but no matter which version of the driver I get for it, about half way thru the installation the entire computer crashes and restarts. I have been working on this for HOURS an it's making me insane. I have to return the computer tomorrow and I'm at a loss for what to do.

Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Thanks!

The new audio drivers aren't the same as the old ones. Sadly, you did lose quite a bit of customizability (and in my case, my microphone went from being loud and adjustable to really, really quiet).
