Q: Replacement top lid for X1 Yoga (First Generation)?

Hello, mysterious spots and stains have started appearing on the top lid of of my Yoga X1 First Generation. I tried using different mild cleaners but to no avail. Can anyone recommend a solution? Or can I get a replacement lid? Thanks, Adi

Preferred Solution: Replacement top lid for X1 Yoga (First Generation)?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Spots aren't coming from the inside. Do you have any idea what was spilled on it? I clean lids and covers with denatured alcohol.

Today we have released the beta of our next-generation product, Malwarebytes 3.0! This product is built to provide comprehensive protection against today?s threat landscape so that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus.

Our engineers have spent the last year building this product from the ground up and have combined our Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation technologies all into a single product which we simply call ?Malwarebytes.? And it scans your computer 3-4 times faster!

When we launch Malwarebytes 3.0, we are confident that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus, thanks to our innovative and layered approach to preventing malware infections using a healthy combination of proactive and signature-less technologies. While signatures are still effective against threats like potentially unwanted programs, the majority of our malware detection events already come from our signature-less technologies like our Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware; that trend will only continue to grow. For many of you, this is something you already know, since over 50% of our customers already run Malwarebytes as their sole security software, without any third-party antivirus. But rest assured, we will continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.

With the combination of our Anti-Malware ($24.95), Anti-Exploit ($24.95) and Anti-Ransomwa... Read more

The current X1 Yoga 2nd Gen specs read, "Up to I7-7650U Intel® Core? i7 vPro? processor" but Intel's 7th Generation i7 mobile line-up doesn't include anything by that number. They do list a i7-7560U, which is a plausible transposition typo, but doesn't include vPro. The i7-7660U does have vPro; both of these include the Iris Plus 640 graphics which sure would be a nice boost with the 4k screens vs. the HD Graphics 620 that's listed in the specs. Then there's the i7-7500U and i7-7600U with plain HD Graphics 620 (but "Smart Cache" as a consolation prize?). I suppose I'll find out once they start accepting orders, but does anyone already know what CPUs will be actually be available (especially on the high end)?

What is the best-available dock for the X1 Yoga 2nd Generation? Now that they're finally taking orders, it seems strange they're not trying to up-sell me a dock when I put the computer in the cart. I'm also concerned that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock seems to have been erased from the lenovo.com ecommerce site: it's not on the Docks & Port Replicators page; searches for ACC100356, Thunderbolt, and 40AC0135US don't show it either). I can still find information about it in support (quickpick for the X1 Yoga 2nd Gen, a user manual). Some retailers list it, but none actually have any. It would seem to be the natural best choice, but quite perplexing. Anyone know if this is being discontinued? Replaced? (Trying to decide between X1 Yoga and HP's EliteBook x360 which does have a thunderbolt dock available; have always bought docks with my high-end notebooks.)

I have owned Lenovo's for almost 15 years. I decided to try a Surface Book 2 about a year ago and it was riddled with problems that Microsoft never cared to address. I figured I'd fall back on my favorite, Lenovo, and get a top-of-the-line X1 Yoga 3rd Gen machine. I loaded it up with the latest Windows 10 1809 and Lenovo drivers and have only been using it a few days. Well I am not impressed. Major issues:- Feels cheap, paint already scratching after two days of light use- Screen is not 3:2, feel like the HDR screen is straining my eyes and its awkward having such a large blank space where screen could be- The screen is delaminated right out of the box in the lower center area, seems that it was not glued well- While I have not experienced the ghost touch issue (yet) its very alarming that with so many people experiencing it, Lenovo has remained silent- Folks complaining they can't get parts replaced for weeks due to part unavailability- Folks complaining that even though they have purchased on-site warranty, they have had to send their machine into the depot for various repairs- Small battery capacity; how can you have a top-of-the-line business laptop where the battery can't last through a whole work day?- Trackpoint is freezing up during normal use but could be a Windows 10 or driver issue? Other issues:- Pen is awkward to remove- Power button placement is awkward- No physical volume buttons- I think its fine to adopt the standard USB-C for charging but I already... Hi,

It appears based on the below post that Lenovo fixed this problem on X380 Yoga.  Can this be released for X1 Yoga 3rd generation?

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X380-Yoga-High-battery-drain-when-off-again/t...

I have already done the below

- Windows Quick Start is off
- USB-power when off is off
- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off
- BIOS updated to N25ET35W 1.21
- I have uploaded BIOS settings to default
- Disabled thunderbolt
- run battery guage reset twice

Battery drain is not as bad as the other person on the X380 but I still lose after making all the above changes 1-3% overnight.  Despite what support says I do not believe that this should be considered normal.  This has never happened on any of my other thinkpads except for my TP25 which was fixed after disabling fast start up.

About a month of regular use with my Yoga 3rd Gen. laptop, I started getting an inconsistent error whenever I attempted to power up the device. For about a week or two I attributed this 2100 error to the software side as nothing hardware had changed, or at least to my knowledge. After no avail after windows updates/intel updates, I then switched to the hardware aspect after reading online posts with a similar issue and potential solutions. I unscrewed the back cover with little difficulty and located the M2 drive. My plan was to reseat the drive as I had read online that this could be a quick fix. However, the stubborn M2 drive would not budge, resulting in some unfortunate stripping. I then tried to increase the padding to the drive as I had hoped the issue was stemming from my daily commute and movement the laptop was experiencing. I first using some eletrical tape as a way to decrease the distance between the back cover to the drive. After using the computer that night, this attempt appeared to be successful as I did not run into any error. However, the next day when I powered on the device, I was faced with the familiar black screen 2100 error. Once again, I then tried to increase the artificial padding and to see if I was on the right track. Today, the first day after the weekend, I had to see if I had finally found a solution but was faced with 2100 errors and constant blue screens/crashes after a few minutes of use. The only options that I have left whic... Read more

I've seen a few people mention that the paint coming off around edges. I thought I didn't have this on my unit, but after seven months with this machine it turns out I've lost a lot of paint around the ports. Just so others have a data point, here's a picture of the left edge of my X1Y3. It's not a good look.  One lesson is that I clearly need to be more careful when inserting connectors. But also, the wear around the lower edge is not from sharp USB connectors, it seems that the paint delaminated simply from putting the system in my bag. That shouldn't happen.   I think it's fair to say that this is a disadvantage of using coated metal for these machines: you won't see anything like this on say a Surface Book, at worst you'll see a scatch on the metallic body. I'm pretty sure that Lenovo considers the picture below 'normal wear', but I think we can all agree that it doesn't look very professional.

See the attached video. I don't believe it's the graphics card - if I plug in an external monitor everything is ok. Changing screen settings such as resolution also, doesn't help the issue and the issue appears even on the bios screen. I'll contact support about this, but they never have any interest in helping solve a problem remotely. They always jump to sending me a box and telling me it'll take 2 weeks to fix... which is a major problem since I work remotely and have no other PC. Also any devices I had connected to Thunderbolt ports were turning on and off. I'm not sure if the issue was related.

Hi! If you have a watt meter such as the one below, when you put your Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2018/3:rd gen under maximum load for long, what power consumption does it actually show? Personally I'm asking this because I'm pondering buying an Akitio Node Pro Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, which would work as laptop charger through the USBC-Thunderbolt cable's "Power Delivery" function, however it gives 60W while the X1 6:th gen comes with a 65W charger. I wonder if the 60W charger would work in the real world. Things you can do to maximize load on your laptop: * put your laptop on maximum load max   * CPU like calculating a zillion decimals of pi,   * read disk all the time like some disk benchmarking program,  * run something on the laptop's built-in display too like loop a video, and * plug in one or two 2.5" harddrives to the USB plugs and run disk benchmarking on it/them too. I think this the real world max watt consumption is very interesting for the world to know, also if you want to know how much you are really pay for your laptop being powered on, this is central for you to test. (I'm making a separate thread where I ask the same thing for X1 6:th gen) Thank you and most grateful for any followup!  https://www.amazon.com/TS-836A-Energy-Voltage-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00E945SJG

Any help / tips on this? System fully updated.... I am not finding a pattern for it.... It happened once to me like five weeks ago, but not again. Suddenly happens every time after Lenovo BIOS update followed by two days ago the Windows 10 system update. So I am attributing it to it and to a BIOS vs. OS conflict of some sort. This is also because it does not seem to be a hardware problem... it can work [almost] perfeclty well for hours and without any screen alteration [flickering] and then just flicker the next day on start up / boot and will continue to flicker. And when works well, I move the screen and it does not alter ... does not flicker... really strange if it were due to a hardware problem. Anything to due with heating/cooling? unlikely, but eventually works with only a low brightness band and in these cases when screen working like that [without major flickering] it does not alter for hours. Thus when having been working for a certain period of time [without sleep], it does not flick(er)... I know there is another thread, but it says on low brightness..... and this happens in any possible screen resolution and brightness combination. All checked so far without any success.....  ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2ndProduct Number: 20JES16Q00BIOS: N1NET42W 1.29Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - 10.0.17134.1

Not surprising, that is an ancient computer that should have been retired years ago.

4th generation processors(Haswell) are the current and newest models, and they do offer slight power improvements over 3rd gen models(Ivy Bridge) in laptops but both are very good series. Getting over years out of a computer probably isn't going happen with a laptop or any PC these days though. I'd just find a laptop that meets your needs and fits your budget and go from there; base it on screen size, CPU performance, memory, hard drive capacity, graphics card, brand, etc.

I've been getting the dreaded blue screen of death with the memory management error for a while now and knowing the RAM is soldered on I figured there was nothing I could do about it, shutting the computer off once a day seemed to help but if I'm using it for a full day then it crashes. Today I had a new one which was the BSoD and the pfn_list_corrupt error so I ran the memory diagnostic and it came back with a hardware problem with the memory, now I suspected that this was the issue with the memory management errors but now this seems to confirm it. So what are my options, just put up with it? It seems there's no real fix but aside from the annoyance of crashes and restarts which for now I can just about live with, is this going to ultimately kill my yoga or not? This along with the wifi problem (thankfully switching that out fixed it) pretty much means this will be the last lenovo product in this household. If I can get another year out of it then I won't feel quite as bad about buying it....BTW is the Pro short for problematic?

A:RAM replacement or fix for a Yoga 2 Pro?

Hi, No one should have to put up with a computer that is not working correctly. If your computer is in warranty do activate it.If not, and assuming the cause is a bad memory chip, you could explore a really invase alternative that is to replace the memory chips. This will requisite advanced eletronics knowledg, a BGA soldering station and new chips. AS you can guess this will not be easy and should be done by a professional. Or you could ask Lenovo for a repair quote. If everything else fails, new computer  Are your shure it's a hardware memory problem? Have you tried restoring to a factory image? Tried playing around with drivers?

I need to upgrade the 128 GB ssd in my Yoga 3 14 to a 256 ssd or hybrid drive.  This drive is very thin - only 5mm - and I cannot find a 256 GB replacement drive for it even though Lenovo sells a Yoga 3 14 with a 256 GB drive.   Where/how can I obtain this 256 GB drive?  Lenovo parts and retail sales website and phone support is woefully unhelpful - multiple calls with no call returns or referrals to other extentions where the person just referred me to another extension.

A:Yoga 3 14 ssd replacement

I have found a good solution to my problem of replacing the small 128 GB ssd on my Yoga 3 14.  The answer is a 500 GB hybrid drive from Seagate - ST500LX012.  This drive is only 5mm high, installs perfectly and fairly easily into the Yoga 3 14 in the mounting space for the hard drive.  Because it's a hybrid drive, it's fast - boots nearly as fast as the SSD that it replaces and generally seems nearly as quick as the SDD, for way less money.  The space allowed for the drive in this Yoga is only 5mm high and I found that a 7mm or thicker drive will not work in this machine if you want to actually lock it securely in place with the existing brackets.  Finding this drive was not easy, as Seagate won't sell it directly and the normal online retailers don't carry it, at least not yet, though they certainly should.  I found the drive finally at www.harddrivesforsale.  Again, Lenova support/sales was no help at all in finding a larger capacity replacement drive and was very disappointing.

I've had my X1 Yoga 3rd Gen for a couple of months, generally very happy with it. Yesterday I noticed the right arrow key (bottom right of the keyboard, under the PgDn key) is broken - not completely, but the left half of it stays depressed when pushed down. Aside from the fact that I'm unhappy this has happened so soon after purchase (and my sense that it may be a function of the retractable keys and that there's more of the same to come), I'd like to know (a) if these keys can be replaced and (b) what I need to purchase and from where. I've had a look at various sites including http://www.laptopkey.com/ and none have any specific reference to the X1 Yoga 3rd Gen. Can anyone help please?

Since your machine is new or at least less than 1 year old it should be under warranty.  If it was me i would call support to have keyboard replaced.  I have never had a key fall off but have had keys that were "overly" sensitive.  I would hit a nearby key and it would trigger the key next to it as well.  Lenovo replaced the keyboard and problem was solved.

It used to shut down when plugged in to the power source and would run fine when not plugged in. Since it has international warranty, I took it to the service center in India and got to know that the motherboard needs to be replaced. But they dont have the same motherboard as the architecture Lenovo uses in India is different than the states.  Since I am not returning to US for next few months (traveling to Europe), I would want to get it fixed in India.  The result is that they are ready to replace the motherboard with the Indian variant however, it has 8GB RAM instead of 16GB RAM I had on the original motherboard.  Now, the question is: should I go for this replacement? If yes then what would be the impact of the downgrade of RAM? And finally, would it affect any other parts in the laptop (possible compatibility issues)? Any suggestions / comments are welcome! -AJ

Hi guys, I'm trying to replace my old cracked touchscreen for my X1 Yoga 1st gen - Lenovo parts lists two LCD assemblies in stock:  1) 14,WQHD,no-glare,TP,TPK+LGD #00UR192 for $687 2) 14,WQHD,no-glare,TP,LBO+LGD #01AY702 for $510 These are listed as substitutes for each other, but a $170 difference seems to imply something significant separates them. What's the difference between TPK+LGD and LBO+LGD, and does it have any effect on replacing a touchscreen-compatible assembly? I took apart my computer and the screen itself is part # 00HN879, if this helps for any reason.

I used my Yoga 13 on my lap. When i repositioned it, one of the keys came off (the 'N'-key). A very small piece of plastic broke of the keycap.I've searched online for replacement keys, but there are no replacement keys available yet. Does anyone know if the keys from the Yoga are shared with other (Lenovo) laptops or how i can get a replacment 'N' key?

A:Replacement keys for Yoga 13

I believe Lenovo will send you replacement keyboard if you are still under warranty.
