Q: Ideapad 500s - Microsoft Edge not working

I bought a brand new Ideapad 500s and did a lenovo hardware scan. It failed on mathematical operations and i was told to update the graphics card drivers - have two (intel hd graphics 520, NVIDIA GeForce 920). They updated successfully. However now Microsoft Edge will not open - i open it and it closes immediately. I can use IE and Firefox but not Edge. I called support and was told to reinstall the drivers and it would work but that had no impact. Edge still will not open. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

SInce MS Edge are prebuilt to the system files , try Repair Microsoft Edge Through System File Checker initially.
If unable to repair you may go to the next step to Reset Microsoft Edge Through PowerShell .

Hello! I spilled cider all over the keyboard on my Ideapad 500s, and now the trackpad doesn't work at all. After the spill I switched it off almost immediately, and tried to turn it on in about half an hour. Everything seems fine apart from the trackpad. Also, during the night the computer started making very loud beeping noises while switched off. I think it was three beeps and a pause. The power button lit up as well. I switched the computer on and there were no changed - everything works apart from the trackpad. Is it posdible to fix it somehow and what should I do?

My keyboard and touch pad both stopped working about a week ago. I assumed I needed to update considering I hadnt used this PC in over six months I updated using a USB mouse and keyboard and now nothing works not even the USb mouse/keyboard. Hi everyone, the wifi connection on my Ideapad 500S-14ISK stops working when I connect to any external monitor via HDMI. I've had this problem eversince I've gotten this laptop.The wifi works fine, only when a monitor (either the TV or my external monitor, using different cords) is plugged in I lose my internet connection, even though it still shows full wifi connection. It works very briefly if I disconnect the wifi and connect again. Starting the computer while the monitor is already plugged in does not help. My Ideapad has Alps touchpad which was working fine before the Windows 10 falls update. Suddenly one fine day the two-finger scrolling and right-click button stopped working. I have tried the One-key Recovery and reset the laptop to how it was shipped(with windows 10 installed), but the issue has not resolved. I have seen someone posting about the similar issue where changing the registry value has resolved the issue, but the solution or exact registry values were not provided. I have an alps touchpad. I updated to the version of 25/8 from the lenovo support page (8.201.1611.247), and now two finger scrolling is no longer working, even though it is activated in the alps keypad settings. I don't want to downgrade to the earlier driver, because with that driver, I had the problem that the on screen cursor would jump positions if changing to the loading icon.Is there something I can do?

Hello,

I updated my windows 7 desktop to Windows 10. I made Google chrome my Default browser. Both Google chrome and Firefox are working perfectly. I tried to open Microsoft Edge but get errors such as: " Can't reach this page & make sure I have the right web address." . I' typing known web addresses i.e. Yahoo, iMore | The #1 site for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and all things Apple!. Can any tell me what I'm doing wrong? I want to use EDGE sometime WITHOUT making it my DEFAULT browser.

Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

A:Microsoft Edge not Working

When are in the "Where to Next?" page, you cannot use periods unless .com .gov .org, etc. For example: I want to search the Chevrolet 6.5 Turbo Diesel in a 1984 Chevy truck --> I cannot do what I just said because of the period between 6 and 5. Press the "Home" button and then you can use periods on the homepage which is MSN. You can change it to Google by simply:

1. Going to the triple dot in the top right corner
2. "Settings"
3. "Advanced Settings" in "Settings"
4. Turn on "Show the Home Button" if you already haven't then
5. Highlight what it says in the box under and change to Google and you should be able to go from there.

Now, when you go on Edge, always press the Home button, then you can be on your way. Even in a new tab.

Edit: You know, I just thought of another thing. I had this problem before too, press "Search for what you want" and that should work as well. I had that problem when it said that Google had the wrong address when clearly I didn't.

I have been using windows 10 now for a while with no issues. I have been using Microsoft edge for a while but now it isn't working. After opening edge it goes to a blank content screen but all the tool bars are there. If I am quick I can open menus or type in an address but it doesn't go anywhere, eventually freezes and then closes. I have tried some other peoples suggestions of creating another user account (same thing happens), I have tried to restore the system by going back to a restore point to no effect, I have tried to access it through a voice search on Cortana with no luck, I have tried to use the app trouble shooter and no luck. UAC is on, never had an issue with it before. I am on the admin account, PC is up to date and on automatic updates. all user on the PC have the same problem.

New machine bought 4th June 2016. Has been working fine until yesterday. Then "all of a sudden"... Failure of WLAN driver (appears to pick up wireless network for 1-2 minutes then drops). Wireless connection either showing as ?no internet, secured? or simply no network connections shown Wi-fi vanishes from Network & Internet. WLAN driver vanishes from Drivers list. I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise on a ProBook 450 G3 and have just installed the HP Client Security Manager version 9.0.0.2116 but running Microsoft Edge (38.14393.0.0), the Client Security Manager icon does not display when at any login page. It does when using Explorer 11. What do I need to do to get this to work with Microsoft Edge?

    I have a following problem - I am using the Site to Zone Assignment List GPO to assign the local site to trusted sites in order to enable automatic logon. Now when I open the URL in IE11 it works just fine - when I click on Sign In on
the portal it reloads and the user is signed in. When I verify the zone via File -> Properties menu I see, that the site is assigned to the "Trusted Sites" zone. doing the same on the same computer with the same user on Microsoft Edge doesn't
work - it asks for credentials. Now:
 - What is the potential reason for this? I also configured the "Do not sync browser settings" GPO to Disabled and I see it is applied properly
 - Where can I verify in Edge which zone has been assigned to the particular URL (that's a must for troubleshooting this problem)

I have a 500S-14ISK Laptop (ideapad). The other day it was doing an automated windows update. I realized the laptop was low on battery so I plugged in the charger, went out for lunch and hoped the update would be done once I came back. When I returned I realized that the charger was not connected to wall-socket so the laptop shut down in the middle of the update. Now I cant get it to start. If I push the power button, the power button lights up and so does the keyboard but the screen gets nowhere. I cant even come to the BIOS setup to do a factory reset. I tried removing the battery, holding the powerbutton for 30s and then put the battery back in. No luck. Did the same this with and without the charger caple attached. No luck. I also tried connecting the laptop to an external display. No luck.  Is there anything else I can try? Supposedly there is a "NOVO" button, what is that and could that work for me? Greatful for any responses!

How many ram slots does Lenovo IdeaPad 500S 13ISK RAM slots have and where can I find them? The program Lenovo Companion shows it has 2 slots and that the second one is unused but I could not confirm it no where on the internet. I have a one year old Ideapad 500S - 141SK with mousepad problems.  Everything worked well until recently, when the mousepad suddenly got far too sensitive.  I have changed to as little sensitive as possible, but this does not work - it seems like the sensitivity is the same regardless of the settings. I can see in other forums that deactivating the "click-funktion" may solve this problem.  But I do not find any place to do this...   I also have an other problem with the pad:  Sometimes it seems like there is "sand" under the pad.  I don't know if there is a connection between these two errors.  A theory:  May be small particles (crumbles etc?) gets under the mousepad because the sealents are not good enough? Anyone else who have experienced this and know why? I would be very thankful if anyone out there could help me

Hi, I've had an ideaPad 500s-14ISK for about 8 months now.About a month after I got it, it had a problem where in the middle of working, the screen turned grey, the computer became unresponsive (the backlight was still working) and the only option was to force it to restart.At first I didn't pay attention to it, as it happened about once in 2 weeks, but recently it got much worse, going unresponsive at least once in an hour, sometimes 2 or 3.I decided to try and install some driver updates to try and solve it. Display drivers didn't work, so I tried Power Management also (including the one which came out very recently) without success.2 days ago (my Friday evening) I decided to try a BIOS update, as nothing else more recent worked. I downloaded the update from the "Downloads" section on the Lenovo website, followed the exact instructions on the update and the txt file that came with it. The update started the BIOS flashing process, and guess what? Screen went grey and unresponsive.I waited for some time to see if something might happen, but nothing. I turned it off, and with that the BIOS went bad. Now it is totally bricked, it does try to accept USB when I turn it on with Fn+R+Power though.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i used my lenovo ideapad 500s as a desktop pc, so i use it a always pluged to adapter sector, so i know if i use it in this way it will decrease  the performance of the battery, thank you a lot.

I got my laptop a year ago but now it won't charge properly. Sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it charges on and off, with enough power to keep it on but not adding to the battery life (so if the laptop battery is at 14% for example, it would stay there not lower, not higher). Other times it would charge all the way to 100% and other times it wouldn't charge at all.At first I thought it was the charger but I just bought a new one and it's still doing the same thing.

This sounds like you have a faulty connection in the mains socket. you would need to get that checked by a technician.

Hello at all. I'm looking for a security lock for my ideapad 500s-13isk. I bought two locks from Kensington, but neither of them works. One lock is with keys, the other one is with number encryption. Both locks have a T-bar which rounds 45. But when I push it in, the lock won't lock. Is there a special lock from Kensington which I have to use? ThanksC. Mielenz

 Bought this machine in Dec 2016 and have not been able to use it at all because it keeps crashing every now and then with BSD.  It's under warranty.  Every time Lenovo engineer reinstalls the OS and it keeps crashing.  It's already 5 times they have done this. There seems to be no solution in sight and of late Lenovo engineers stopped responding to the issue in time.  It's nearly a week they collected coredump and event viewer data with no solution coming forward till now.  Lenovo is not willing to consider DOA. Currently, it's lying with me and unusable.  What's the solution to this problem?

Hard to tell because actaul StopCode is not visible in the image, but typically blue screens are an operating system issue related to hardware drivers, or corrupt system files, and are not hardware related.     It would if you could upload the actual C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file as it might point to the driver or system file at fault.

Every time I closed my laptop and went to the sleep mode, I cannot wake the laptop up no matter which button I pressed. The screen would first vaguely twinkling for several times from a little bright black color to the entire black color, but not easy to obseve, and the laptop screen just never would go to the start page. Open your Lenovo Energy management and turn off the Hard Drive power Saver option?

Hello, I am weighing up my options between purchasing an Ideapad 500s or a Thinkpad L460. I do a bit of video editing, and when I'm doing that kind of work I want to hook the laptop up to a 4k screen, (the extra pixels allow a much more efficient workflow). To connect to a 4k monitor at 60Hz I have read that I need a DisplayPort output (which I note that the 500s does not have), or an HDMI 2.0. I suspect that the Ideapad 500s does not have an HDMI 2.0 output, but I would be happy to be contradicted. Could someone please confirm this one way or ther other? Preferably if you could point me to some official documentation about the product which answers the question that would be great! If it does have an HDMI 2.0, I wonder if anyone has any idea how the nVidia chip would handle the 4k screen. I wouldn't be gaming or even doing and 3d modelling or rendering - just some HD video editing - so I expect it would be fine? Many thanks,Tom

Hello, Just purchased the ideapad 500s...love the laptop but after a computer scan through the lenovo solution center, i keep getting a failed result because of the intel graphics 520 hd card.  The 'mathematical operations test' keeps failing.  I have re-installed the driver through the lenovo support website but it did not take care of it.  is this because of Windows 10?  I am thinking there are still some quirks with the operating system and compatability with hardware. Thank you.

A:Ideapad 500s - graphics card issue

I've never owned a Lenovo laptop until recently, I've always bought my computers from Dell. However, a couple of week ago, I decided to purchase the Ideapad 500 and I'm already having an issue with the Intel Graphics Card. When I watch videos, like from YouTube, the images keep scrambling and there is a horizontal, white band of interference that keeps flashing at the bottom of the screen. I've even started getting the blue and black error screens. I ran the Lenovo Solutions Center app and got the same result. There was a failure with the Intel HD Graphics Card, "Mathematical Operations Test." Here is the Results Code: WVC007002-RK8WFH. I checked the Intel website for the latest version of the graphics card to see if mine is out of date, and it is. My version is 10.18.15.4279, which was released, 8/24/2015. The new version is 15.40.10.4300, which was released, 10/26/2015. The recommendations given by the Intel website for updating the driver, seem to address the issues I'm having with the blue and black screens. Anyway, since my driver is out-of-date, I downloaded and tried to install this latest one, but I got an error message, saying it must be done by the manufacture. I then checked Lenovo's website to see if they had it for downloading, but the only graphics card that Lenovo has available is out-of-date too. I have a two-year warranty, but I don't want to ship my laptop just to have my graphics card updated.

I have recently purchased a new laptop ideapad 500s. Since the day I bought it I am having internet connectivity issues. On system restart or when device is restored from sleep, the internet gets disconnected and a yellow asterisk appears on the WiFi connection in the status bar. On running windows diagnosis, the problem result says "DNS server isn't respnding". The only way the system does get connected to WiFi is if I restart my WiFi modem after the system has started. I have tried all solutions available online to fix the problem. I tried using static DNS entries, tried flushing DNS, updated my WiFi device driver, disabled sleep of the device in power management and even reset Windows using the option available in Windows 10. None of the above methods have helped me resolve the problem. Could this be a hardware problem in the laptop? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,bought an Ideapad 500-13isk with 128gb ssd some weeks ago.after a windows update the computer started to give me problems after start-up, so i decided to restore the cpmuter via the integrated system and recovery partiton.everytime i try to restore the computer starts back the recovery and can't finish.so, at the moment i'm stuck.i have other computers but i need this one for a trip next week so i can't depot it for repair.i think that the recovery partition in corrupted.i have already prepared an USB disk with windows 10 ready to be installed but i'm alittle worried about the warranty.  if i delete all the partitions and reinstall windows 10 do i void my warranty?do i need a product key or the system will grab it form the bios?is there a way to restore the current status of the machine? Hi, I receive an Error Code WVC007002-RL8VRF - and my laptop suggests to open a support ticket at Lenovo. When I try to find this section, or open the "connect us" area on Lenovo.com, the site never loads, it just remains blank. Regardless what browser I use. Please support me. I have an ideapad 500s 13

A service tip has been released concerning the WVC007002 Mathematical Operations Test error message.  This is a false negative and can be ignored; it does not affect the system's functionality or performance.

When I log in to the Lenovo support site, there are 27 drivers listed for my ideapad 500S-14ISK laptop. I'd like to know...Should I install some/all of these?Should these be installed automatically in system updates?How do I know which of these are already installed? I am particularly interested in the Graphics drivers as this is a replacement machine as I had problems with the previous one's graphics card/driver. There are two listed under "Display and Video graphics": 10.18.13.5474 released on 23/5/16, and "Graphics 20.19.15.4364a;Audio 8.20.0.745" released on 12/5/16. Should I install either or both of these? ThanksAdrian
