I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In Window 7 Home Premium?

A:How do i adjust the brighness?

Usually through your cards control panel.

Nvidia, ATI CCC, Intel etc

Without knowing a thing about your pc it makes it difficult to be exact.

Hi, I have just installed Windows 10 (Build 1803) and I have ran Leanovo Vantage on here to update all drivers and firmware, however for some reason I cannot increase (or decrease) the brightness of the laptop at all. I did some research into this and I saw this has been an issues before on some other models but I couldn't seem to find anything related to the P51. The screen is visable, however I would say it is currently fixed at around 40-50% brightness. Has anybody come across this before and is there anything I can try to do to fix this?  Regards, Jonathan.

Hi!I can't adjust brightness at HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC after upgrading to Windows 10.Neither by F2/F3 buttons (I even don't see any animation), nor by any regular Windows' way. It's always maximum.I've updated all available HP drivers from the HP site and from Windows Update.I have one more point about it. I've changed the brocken screen  at the laptop. Screen works properly except brightness. I had Windows 8.1 before and brightness adjustment worked properly on the old screen. I didn't try to change the brightness on Windows 8.1 when I changed the new screen, so I can't tell you if it worked properly on the W8.1 and new screen. I've updated the system exactly after changing the screen.Does anybody know how to fix it? Thanks for the help.

Hey guys and girls Quick question.
I have searched hi and low, looked through the manual just short of calling dell.
does anyone know How do I Adjust the Brightness Level on my Dell inspiron 1705 notebook?
Its great realy nice and bright when its plugged in, but when she runs on her battery ( full charge) the screen realy isnt that bright. There has to be an ajustment somwhere i hope.

Any help would be great.

A:How do I Adjust the Brightness Level on my Dell inspiron 1705 notebook

you should have a key with " Fn" on the keytop. The printing should be red or blue
you then will have normal keys, Ummm , maybe the "F1-9" keys that will have the same color printing, you should have brightness and contrast. You have to hold down the Fn key then tap a key with the same color. You will have to look it could be a circle half filled in the sun , what ever on the key cap. There maybe other functions like key locks , sound... etc. the key locks effect the way the KB works.

Using the laptop on battery, when I press on F11-12, the brightness meter is shown on the upper left like usual, but it won't move up or down.  Yet I think it's strange that all other places I can adjust brightness are fine, and especially strange that everything is working totally fine on AC power.
I tried uninstalling the Generic PnP monitor and reinstalling, but to no results.  Also, both my power settings on battery and on power indicate no adaptive brightness.

Hi, Since the day i got the HP Envy 13, i've been experiencing this absolutely horrific auto brightness feature. I've tried the following things to turn off this utterly useless feature. 1* In the intel graphics driver menu I've sett all the option to "high performance"2* Disable the Windows sensor monitoring service.3* look in the Windows power management setting et set adaptive brightness to off. All to no avail. As soon as i enter a mostly black screen application and exit this application my screen is in a low brighness state and slowly fades back to full brightness. Please help me turn off this feature once and for all. It's almost if HP is trying to hide the huge backlight bleeding that this model has I hope this is not the case.

I dumb-dumbed and spilled liquid on my One. Keyboard and touchpad wouldn't work but was able to do a work-around by using USB keyboard and mouse. My problem is now I do not have the Fn key operations to control the screen brightness (backlight?) by using the usual Fn + rt/left arrow keys. Is there a work-around for this? The Advanced option under Display in the Control Panel does not achieve the same outcome as the Fn key controls did. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A problem has recently developed with my Envy notebook.   About 2 weeks ago my entire wireless network began slowing down when on it.   Noticeable on all devices.    When my provider came out, checked and tweaked some issues it appeared to be ok.   I went on with my daughers HP laptop and was drawing 20-24 mbps all over the house. When I reconnected mine to the system I was only pulling 6, 3, 5, up and down.   It doesn't start right away but after a few minutes.   So I put my duaghers right next ot mine and low and behold, when I ran her's it pulled 3 - 6 also.   So I turned my wi-fi off and hers' popped right back up.   I have also tried this with an old XP mini, my i-pads etc.   As soon as mine gets on the network the speed crashes.    This also happens with no one else home and no other devies conncted. I have downloaded the latest up to date Intel driver for this network adapter and it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas?

Bill_Ving Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about wireless networking poor performance and wanted to help. My immediate guess is that you might have mixed-mode networking going on.  This happens when you have two different PCs networking in two different modes -- one using "G", the other using "N".  The wireless router (or access point) can optimize performance for either mode, but not for both.  So, the "G" mode drags down the performance of the "N" mode PC, but even worse, with the router set for mixed modes, it performs more slowly than with either PC connected by itself. Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can try: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) | HP® Customer SupportGood Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------Please click "Accept As Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. Please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on the left of the Reply button to say thanks fopr my help.========================================================================

I made a Google notebook to keep the minutes of a meeting my business partners and I held last weekend. I made them all collaborators on the notebook so they could all make any changes or annotations they felt necessary. However, when they go to access this notebook they are prompted for a password.

There is nowhere (at least that I can find) to even choose to password protect the notebook let alone change the password. I'm pretty confused as to what password the notebook could be. The only thing I can think of is that it's asking for the password to my gmail account, which I don't really want to be handing out. Any ideas on this one gang?

I have an Athlon 2000+/1024DDR/WinXP and I recently rebooted it. But I noticed after I did this my computer had Athlon 1250 mhz written on screen where Athlon 2000+ used to be. I went to Taskmanger and it confirmed my computer was running at 1246 mhz and it should be running at like 1670mhz.

I know I need to go into my BIOS system and adjust my frontside bus to like 133, but I don't know how to carry out this process. The only BIOS option I see, is when I am starting my comp up and it asks me if I want to restore BIOS defaults. Clicking on that does nothing for me though.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?

A:How do you adjust your fsb to 133?

What mobo/bios are you using? It should tell you in your manual where you change the fsb. It's either by jumper on the mobo or through the bios.

Then the notebook froze. When this happened, I had to switch it off without using Cleanup, which I have used safely for a long time. When I had switched it on again, I used Firefox to go to the Techsupport Forum. I followed the instructions to download dds.scr and began running it. Then the notebook froze again. It still tells me "Two logs shall be created on your desktop" Now the cursor does not move any more either. My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.

This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.

I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.

Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.

Thanks, Robert

New here and so I hope that I am posting in the correct place.
My new notebook an M50-MX5 was in the warranty depot as we thought it had a dvd burning problem, however that was not the case; it was the media.

Anyway before it was sent into the toshiba warranty depot the level 2 tech phone support said to get the computer to be like it was when I unboxed it 2 days earlier, this was last month.
And so to my frustration all of my programs were removed, however before doing this the software techie at the office Ghosted it to my Western Digital Storage Unit and then sent it off to the Warranty Depot.

While it was in the shop I used my 3 yr old toshiba satellite 2410 which I am now typing on at this moment.
I was finally able to get the software tech from the office to reGhost my new toshiba M50 on this past Saturday and left it with him for a couple of hrs and then returned to pick it up as there was not much in the way of programs on it and so it wouldn't take long to Ghost the Images back.

Well, in my Western Digital Storage unit are Ghosts of this 3 year old satellite that I am presently using.
After the techie got my Restore Disk installed and tried to reGhost the image onto the New M50, it crashed.

He was using the wrong Ghost, he was using the one that was from this unit???
I was not happy, especially after he claimed that he now had it Ghosted with the proper Image and I tried it out and it was very sloooooow to Boot. He said it was my Norton 2006.

Something you might want to try (it's a pita) is a repair of windows - this may fix some of the slowness issues you're seeing. The install program he's talking about is probably the U3 component of many larger USB pen drives. I think it's on most of Sandisk's newer large drives. A repair of windows might also take care of this. I seriously doubt that putting the wrong image on the machine and then putting another image on could do any damage to the machine itself - the folks here at my job do it all the time.

What FSB and CPU multi are using?

390*9 or close to?

If so, going with a 1:1 ratio will put you at 780Mhz RAM speed.
But you should be able to get 5-5-5-15 Timings.

Looks as if your RAM is Rated at
800MHz DDR2
CL 5-5-5-18
So this may be the best route.

Quickest way to compare is run a quick memory assesment. CMD Prompt and type : winsat mem
Youll get a general idea of the bandwidth.

TBH, there will likely be no noticeable real world difference.
Only in a benchmark.

But I also understand the desire to tweak and get the most you can

Try both settings and see what your system likes the best with the things you do the most often.
Every setup has a different "happy spot"

Ok I've had vista for a long time, but I switched over to XP and everything is perfect except from one small detail that is kinda big for me. I can't adjust the brightness in my laptopIn vista all I did was press fn left/right arrows to adjust it. And from what I know this is the way you do it in most laptopsNow in this XP I had to install all drivers. Specifically from this page http://www.laptop-software.com/acer-softwa...5738zg-drivers/when I install the graphics driver, VGA intel driver for vista is the one that's used for my computer from that list, the brightness just goes to the max apparently and I can't use fn arrows to adjust it. I CAN use fn arrows up and down to adjust the volume so there is definitely something fishy here. If I uninstall the driver I can use fn to adjust the brightness normally so I know the problem is when I install the driverthis brightness is driving me crazy! the driver bring something called Intel Graphic Media Accelerator which has an option for brightness, but it seems as if that's a different type of brightness cause it just makes the screen duller. You can actually still see a lot of brightness coming out from the computer but the screen is very dull. And it still damages my eyesany help?

The sound driver could be corrupted. Install a new driver for sound card at:

Though u are usually given a disc of drivers with your computer, that may be easier. Remember to uninstall your previous sound driver.

I don't know how it happened, but recently, the sound has gotten all screwed up. It seems to be set to an unbearably low volume at maximum. I can hear the asterisk system sound, but the others must be too quiet to hear. I can hear my MP3s and some other sound files, but they are so soft I can't hear them well at all. even when WinAmp is set to 100% volume. Turning the knob on my speakers has no effect at all.

I can hear sounds online (such as the Crazy Frog movie: http://dd0s.org/~wooolf/crazyfrog/ ), but the volume is rather quiet.

Using the Volume Control, I find that nothing is muted, and everything is at maximum. I can lower the volume to make it even quieter, but I can't make it louder (since it's at maximum).

I am currently using NVIDIA nForce drivers (the most recent ones)...in fact, I just installed these new ones, hoping it would fix my problem, to no avail.

What can I do?

Have you given it a try by plunning headphones into the jack? Try to bypass all external amplification, it may be your speakers.

Im trying to optomize my other computer. It's FSB speed is 133 and its ram speed is 200. I hear when they sync up its more stable. Is this true? If so, what should I do. I get extremely poor memory benchmarks and I think it might be a factor in lag.

A:Adjust ram speed?

Yes it is true. You can make your PC run faster than the ram is capable of running, because of this different mobo makers have designed workarounds in the bios in order to make the ram run at a slower speed than the fsb. This is a workaround, not a perfect solution, so it does affect the performance. You probably suffer around a 10% drop in memory performance by clocking the ram at a slower speed making use of the workaround in the bios, and then a drop in performance due to useing the slower memory. Therefore the best answer is to loosen up the memory settings and/or up the dimm voltage and/or buy ram that is advertised as running at the same bus speed or higher that your running. Keep in mind that any or all of the solutions may or may not work.

If your running 3.9gigs of ram you may be creating the problem. There's no gain that I can see from running that much ram, and some boards may advertise that they can use that much ram but suffer a performance drop when useing that much. The old Pheonix bios versions used in older 486 and pentium boards comes to mind, there was a glitch where to much ram would actually make the PC slower...
