Intel 8265 Wireless LAN Driver - 10 [64] Will Not Install

Q: Intel 8265 Wireless LAN Driver - 10 [64] Will Not Install

I am running Windows 10 Pro on a brand new T470 laptop. Lenovo Update offers an "Intel 8265 Wireless LAN Driver - 10 [64]" update, but it simply will not install after repeated attempts. The update downloads and says that it needs to restart to complete the install, but after restarting and running Lenovo Update again, the same driver update shows up once again as "Critical update." Does anyone know how to actually get this critical update to install?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, In our organization we have a VPN client that is sensative to driver versions.  We have noticed Lenovo System Update is only updating the Lenovo T470 Wireless-AC 8265 drivers to a certain point and has stopped.  That we could tell there did seem to be a problem as previously there was a rapid succession of updates for our T470's and the wireless NICs to a certain point.T470 - 20HES09L00 Would it be possible to have this driver updated? 2018/09/03 - v20.70.3.3 - Lenovo2019/03/06 - v20.120.1.1 - Intel  Thank you,Tony H.

Hi, I am new to these forums so a big hello to everyone. I am looking for confirmation on compatibility with T440s (BIOS 2.44) and Intel AC 8265 Wireless card (FRU: 01AX704) Can anyone confirm in BIOS 2.44 (Latest) if the following card above has been added to the BIOS Whitelist? I would rather get some confirmed solid confirmation before I purchase. The Intel AC 7260 is not the greatest of cards and an upgrade would be nice. I don't see it feasible that Lenovo would have individual whitelists for individual ThinkPad series, I would say that it is likely they update all the whitelists as and when new cards come on to the market? Best Wishes Vince

Hi All, I use a P50 (20HHCTO1WW, BIOS 1.17 dated 12/13/2017, FHD, i7-7700HQ, RAM 64GB, Boot disk: Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA 500GB, Work disk: Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB, Data disk: Seagate Firecuda SMR HDD ST2000LX001 2TB. I use this laptop for development of systems on top of virtual machines, stored on the NVMe SSD. These virtual machines are set to access network and internet through a virtual switch setup on top of the P50 WLAN interface. I would like to share regarding crashes I got after performing system update on Lenovo Vantage yesterday. After performing two updates (Intel Online Connect and Intel 8265 WLAN driver) on 1/16 6:09AM early morning, a BSoD occurred on 9:03AM. Upon checking the memory dump using windebugger, the issue was invalid memory read access initiated by vmswitch (Hyper-V Virtual adapter). Installed vmswitch.sys on my P50 is version 10.0.16299.192, time stamp 1/8/2018 5:32AM. Quite new. Upon checking for possible causes, I read on other forum regarding suggestion to disable VM queue on each network interface on all VMs. I changed these right away.  However, on 5:06PM same day, a second BSoD occured. This time the memory dump writing somehow failed, hence I lost the latest dump and also the previous dump (as it is overwritten by the last BSoD process). The bugcheck details from both crash occurences as registered on Event Log are similar thou. As disabling VMQ didn't solve the BSoD problem, I removed the Intel 8265... Read more

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

Bluetooth devices installed correctly ("This device is working properly") and visible: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.

I have tried Intel driver from Dell downloads and official Intel driver 20.0.0_64.

Hi,  Maybe this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find the answer... Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen's Intel AC 8265 should be able to work at 450 Mbps, but it only works at 300 Mbps.  Does it have only two antennas on the OLED model so it can't reach full speed, so to speak? A:YOGA 730 with intel 8265 wifi adapter constatly disconnects!

Now be careful but you may want to try opening it up to see if the thing sits right in there. I looked into the 730 quite extensively online before my purchase and saw it mentioned somewhere that a lot of wifi problems may be due to shoddy installation. Mine has an Intel 9260 160MHz adapter and no drops so far.EDIT: BEFORE you do that check your battery settings. Right click on battery> power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>wireless adapter settings>power saving mode and fiddle with these settings. Could be Windows' power saving is disabling your wifi though I kind of doubt it. Mine is on maximum power saving and no drops yet.Could you tell if it shows the wifi signal dropping in the bottom right corner or can you tell it's dropping when you're downloading sth or gaming?

We have just purchased the XPS 13 over the past weekend.  The laptop was working great, until the creators update occured.e

once the update occured the WLAN auto-config service appears to crash during the association phase when the laptop is attempting to connect to an SSID.  It starts to connect, then the autoconfig config crashes and the laptop stops probing for beacons.  I am able to get Wi-FI to work with one of my USB Wi-FI cards.
I have had to roll back to windows 10 in-order to get the wifi card to work.  I have tried the latest drivers from intel and the Dell site and I have been unable to get the wifi-card to function.

A:XPS 13 2-in 1 (9365) intel 8265 no longer working after creator update

The Creator's Build did not bother my system.  Other than always having to set my system to a Private network after such an upgrade/update, it works normally.
Can we assume all of your Drivers/Bios updates are done?  If you want to give some info regarding your configuration, we can compare systems.
Windows 10 seems to have a built in driver for that Wi-Fi adapter.  The Dell driver should work better, so you might try to reinstall it, just in case or vice versa..

Yesterday I received my 720s i7-8550u MX150 laptop and on first impressions I am impressed with the laptop (Although I have only used for a couple hours). However the wifi performance of the QCA9377 wifi card is very poor and I would like to swap out for an Intel 8265. I have however read about whitelisting - The fact that Lenovo lock down the bios so the machine only boots with certain hardware installed.  Coming from using Dell laptops this seems madness to me! I can get a 'Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265, 2230, 2x2 AC + BT, Vpro' wifi card from Amazon UK for £17.95 delivered but I wanted to check: 1) That I will be ok to swap the cards over and have the warranty maintained.  I'll keep the old card so I can replace if I need to send back for warranty reasons.2) That if I swap the wifi card over it will work ok with my laptop My part number is 81BD0044UK and I have looked at the manual at https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad720s-14ikb_hmm_201705.pdf which lists the following card in the parts list: Wirelesslan_WIFI, Intel 8265 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2 WLAN NV, WIFI 2X2 AC+BT4.1 SW10K97453 Can anyone please help confirm that I am ok to swap the card over please? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Matt

Hello guys,

i've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software .
i always get the same behavior:

the screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self.
even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
i've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
i've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
i've tweaked onece the tdr delay to 8 second, but didnt work.

i really need some help here, i'm desperate!

A:Unable to install Intel HD graphics driver on a fresh install of WIN10

The most likely suspect is a bad video chip.

Now it could be a power related problem too, or heat, but if you have used good parts and a cool case and have tried multiple versions of the driver then it starts looking like hardware failure is likely.

Who makes your 550W power supply?

Double check all of your connections.
And you could go into the UEFI/BIOS and reset all defaults - don't do any tweaking until this problem is resolved.
Is that board running the most recent version of the BIOS?

Hello All!

First post here!

I have a Dell E6410 laptop and I have been having intermittent connection drops so I decided to check for a new driver. I installed the Intel driver update utility and it found a new driver but when I try to install it, it says I have to uninstall the old one first, so I did that and rebooted and the old driver keeps reinstalling itself even though I deleted the old driver when I uninstalled the card.

I must be missing something here?

I'm also having the same issue with the chipset driver, but I don't know where to delete the existing driver for that? I have attached a screen shot (hopefully) of the error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks VERY much!

Let me preface by saying that Pogo and Microsoft are idiots and offer no suggestions. So here?s my problem: Only recently, I?ve had problems playing on Pogo such as games not loading or game freezes. When I enter a room, there?s a yellow triangle with an exclamation point on the upper right-hand side of the Java Applet Window. So under ?Problems Reports and Solutions? it stated that I needed to update my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. When I attempted to download the update driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.as...e=&lang=eng it says "The Driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer." I've uninstalled and re-installed Java already. I am running Vista and the problems occurs when running both I.E.7 and Firefox.I have a Gateway MT6821 Notebook. I've even gone to Gateway's site and used their link for updates and still receive the same error message.Hopefully you guys can help!

Hey, guys! I am having trouble downloading Intel's new beta driver. This one: Download Intel 7/8.1/10* [15.40].

A guy on Swtor recommended it for me. I've been having difficulties with games for the past few months including Swtor. He said I should try the beta driver. The problem is, whenever I try to install it, a ZIp file comes up. I don't really now how they work. The person told me to press extract, but then nothing happens. The file is on my computer, but I don't know what to do next. I have an Intel 4600.

I did not mean to mark this as solved.

edit: nevermind, I found the button to unmark as solved.

Compatriots, I have a Lenovo X-220 that currently has a wireless N card installed. A few days ago, checking System Update, I noticed the updated driver for Intel Wireless Cards (version 16.1.3, details available here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS036007) which expressly indicates support for Intel's AC 7260 wireless card and expressly for the X220. I was previously aware of the whitelisting issues with unsupported mPCI wireless cards on Lenovo systems, but understood this update to indicate that Lenovo was adding support for the AC 7260, correcting the issue experienced by folks earlier in the year. Accordingly, I ordered one and was somewhat surprised this evening to still receive the message "1802 unauthorized network card is plugged in.  Power off and remove the miniPCI network card". Can anyone shed light on this?  Is there some other step I need to take to make this work?  Or have Lenovo actually issued a new driver expressly indicating support for the card while neglecting to update the BIOS whitelist to enable it to work.....? Any advice appreciated. Greg

A:X220 and Intel AC 7260 Wireless with Latest Driver

Hi Greg_S, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
I too want to believe that a software update makes my old X220 support a newer wireless card! But I'm pretty sure the release note means the software supports all those cards respectively in the systems they are built into, and not that it magically makes all those cards work in all those systems!
Hope this helps!

Hey there,

I've got lots of work to do but unfortunately my laptop is refusing to work. A couple of days ago I accidentally installed a virus and I decided to downgrade to XP. So to install XP I had to change the SATA Mode in the BIOS from AHCI Mode to IDE Mode. I then installed lots of drivers but everytime I tried to install the Intel (R) 3945abg Wireless driver XP crashed. (Screen froze and all the hardware stopped making noises) Eventually I got the driver to install by removing the Wireless card from the laptop. However, everytime the black XP loading screen comes up it freezes and crashes.

I tried changing the mode back to SATA in the BIOS but then I get instant BSODs and I won't write out the error codes because it's obvious it's from changing the SATA Mode.

Model: Acer Aspire 5920
OS: Windows XP SP3
Problem Driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...19152&lang=eng

If you need anymore info please feel free to ask.

Thanks very much for your time,

PS. This is urgent!

I just recently bought an used Dell Latitude D530, and the computer worked fine the first day but on the second day it wouldn't connect to the internet.

It shows the message "driver is not installed" and when I double click the message it opens the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless with the following message:

"Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter."

I'm no computer genius therefore I do not know what to do. Luckly I've found this awesome forum. I hope someone can help me.

I looked on other threads and found one where this problem was solved but unfortunately the link for the download that solved the problem is not working anymore.

I've tried to cable connect the computer, but that did not work either. Therefore I have to find a way to solve this while offline.

Thanks for taking the time to read my message. I hope you can be of help.

A few days ago Lenovo Vantage offered me updates to the Intel Wifi driver and related Bluetooth driver.  The new Wifi driver was v21.50.1.1.  After installing them, I began to experience repeated dropped Wifi connections which did not reconnect automatically.  Another computer and a phone also connected to the same router, also at 5GHz, didn't have any problems.  So I reverted back to the previous drivers, and things appear to be back to normal so far.  This problem could just be my P53S, or just my router, but I wanted to post my experience in case anyone else runs into the same situation.

I have got an X240 with Intel PRO/Wireless N7260. Today when I use System Update to update the software/driver, it asked for a file "Driver.msi" and I do not have it. I have no other option except pressing the "Cancel" button, it failed with Error 000006B2. Then I tried download the .exe update file from the support site, it failed similarly. Basically, it says that it cannot remove the old version PRO/Wireless driver. Probably because I have recently cleaned the system drive with the Windows OS clean drive utility? Checked from the device manager, currently I am having the V17.16.1.2 (2015-04-12) version installed. The version System Update tried for me is V18.12.0.  Any way to work around this? Thanks.

A:X240 update Intel PRO/Wireless driver problem

Found a workaround eventually:- make sure you are online- goto "Device Manager"- expand "Network Adaptor"- select "Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260"- right-click and choose "Update Driver Software ..." Windows will the do the update for you without the need for the "missing driver.msi". Have fun! W.K. Lo
