Solved: Laptop RAM Compatibility

Q: Solved: Laptop RAM Compatibility

I have a "Samsung 512MB DDR2 2R X 16 PC2-5300S-555-12-A3" laptop RAM module and wanted to know if it is compatible with HP Compaq NX7400 Laptop

Preferred Solution: Solved: Laptop RAM Compatibility

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: Laptop RAM Compatibility

After looking at the memory you mentioned and the the other laptop, it seems they are fully compatible, at least that is if your NX7400 Laptop can acommodate for 512MB modules per slot.

Years ago, my parents had trouble connecting this laptop:

HP Pavillion zv5000

To my wireless Router:

NetGear WG311 802.11g

So they put it away, and years later I uncover it in a closet....

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

A:Solved: Laptop - Wireless compatibility?

1) Make sure the wireless is switched on - HP have a physical switch on the machine
2) Check the device manager and see whats in network adapters - see later
3) Post an ipconfig /all here - see later
4) Make sure firewall not blocking
5) remove any wireless secruity off the router and see if it connects
{ipconfig /all}
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all

-> Start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all
post back the results here
TWO Methods to do that - if you cannot access the internet with PC, then use method 2 to copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Method ONE -------------------------------------------------------------
start > run {search bar in Vista} > cmd > ipconfig /all

then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Method TWO -------------------------------------------------------------

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

I hope someone can give me some advice. I've a friend with a G550 running Windows 7 32 with only 2 GB of RAM, and it's woefully slow. I suggested he update to 4 GB (his system is obviously only capable of addressing 4 GB) and, as I recently updated my G560 to 8 GB (I'm running 64 bit Windows) I wondered whether I could give him one of my two old 2 GB modules (1 original, one added Crucial), or replace both, to upgrade his system? On paper, the memory seems to be similar to my untutored eye - am I missing some incompatibility between the two systems? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, my laptop (HP Pavilion g6 1005ST) just broke and I was thinking about replacing the existing hard drive with an SSD (SSD Samsung 2,5" 256GB 830 Series or Flash SSD Kingston V300 2.5" 240GB SATA 3). Can I do that and will it be used to its full potential? I've read that even if the ssd has sata 3, it depends on the motherboard, however I can't find the motherboard model for my laptop.

A:SSD - Laptop compatibility

The specs i found for your laptop says it came with a SATA hard drive so the new hard drive should work without a problem. Just so you know when you replace the hard drive you'll have to reinstall your windows operating system so make sure you have a reinstall cd for your computer. Most newer computers don't come with any cd's because they put a recovery partition on the hard drive that comes with it so you may have to contact hp & have them mail you one.

I am hoping to purchase this laptop: DELL Latitude D630 Intel Core Duo 1.80GHz 14.1" 1GB Memory 60GB HDD Notebook
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834200816 ),
but I plan on replacing the cpu with AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU with DirectX 11 Graphic
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113281 ) .
I also have two additional 2g DDR3 SDRAM Module's that I would add along with the key component; a 500gb WD scorpio blue hard drive. It is key because it may be damaged, and without it there will be no point in the aforementioned purchase.

My question is: will this be compatible? I'm sure of the hard drive, but have no clue on how to find the details needed to answer the other two.

Although my screen problems I recently posted about are not fixed yet, there's another issue I've been wondering about for some time now.

I have a Dell Inpiron 8100 with 256MB RAM (144pin PC133 SDRAM SODIMM). It's only upgradable to 512, and if I can find another 256 for cheap, I'd like to get some even though I plan on buying a new laptop in the next few months.

The problem is, the ram for this thing is quite expensive. The stuff on the Dell site (last I checked) was about $60 for 256. I've seen the same "kind" of ram on various sites for as low as $25 or $30. However, the sites I find that ensure that it is 100% compatible with the 8100 are expensive as well - some more than Dell themselves.

My question is if it really matters. Even though these sites I find with the cheaper ram (one of which is NewEgg) don't guarantee which models they work with, they are still the same type of ram...this tells me that it *should* work.

Do I really run the risk of it not working if I get the cheaper stuff? I mean, can it do any harm?

Hi folks, My first post here, so I'm hoping somebody can help! I have a Compaq Presario 2500, model 2548AI, made 2002. This laptop was supplied with a Hynix 256MB PC2700 DDR333 SODIMM, Compaq part, which goes OK though the manual (and the HP site) says it takes a 266MHz PC2100.

I have tried to upgrade with 2 x Legend 512MB PC2700 DDR333 SODIMMs, but the computer will not boot. The manual says that it should take up to 1GB of RAM in two 512MB modules.

Both the original 256 card and the new 512 cards use the same brand of chips, and seem to have the same specs: DDR333, unbuffered, 2.5v, CAS latency 2/2.5, and have eight Hynix chips per card.

I have tried the 512 cards in both slots - no boot! But the laptop does boot with the 256 card in slot one and a 512 in slot 2. However BIOS only reports the 256 RAM, and there is no option for selecting more.

It has been suggested to me that HP somehow fix their their laptops so they only take HP supplied parts, which of course cost up to three times more than similar third party parts. Is this correct? My thoughts are that any comapatible RAM cards should work?

A:Laptop RAM compatibility problem!

Legend memory is trouble.
You can use PC2700 PC3200 memory if it is all identical.. but I would use Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, Infineon, or Hypnix.
Maximum of 512 MB per slot...
But mixing memory brands and module sizes will get your right where you don't want to be.
To be safe: Two 512 MB modules of PC2700 will work in that model.
What you heard about HP is simply bull only
Go to www.zipzoomfly.com for identical modules at $35.90 to 45.60 per module... avoid value ram or value select sodimms.

Hi all,

My name's Todd and I've just got a quick question. How compatible is a Compaq Armada 3500 to a Compaq Armada M700? I don't have spec sheets for both so I can't compare them but if someone is familiar with both models, I'd be glad to get an answer.

My old Armada 3500 is slowly dying and in terms of hardware, are the 3500 and M700 compatible? For example, if I were to load the hard disk, RAM, keyboard, etc. into an M700, would I have physical compatibility issues such as parts not fitting, irregular plugs and ports, etc.? Because all I'm really trying to do is use a somewhat expendable laptop and then replace its core components for cheap prices.

Thanks for the help!

A:Compaq laptop compatibility

There laptops are from fundamentally different generations.

You can probably transfer the hard drive, since ATA is backwards and forward compatible. AC adapter and cable may work too. Optical drive and/or floppy, maybe. Anything else will probably not fit.

Chances are it won't work. The drivers are likely to be different, and the OS is probably tied to the original machine.

I have recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite M115-S3094 laptop computer, and I have a D-Link 802.11 N type Router. The laptop has a b/g/a 802.11 card by Intel, and I always encounter the worse connectivity. It constantly disconnects, then has difficulties reconnecting. It is always in almost full excellent range, but it never manages to hold a connection for a long amount of time before trying to reconnect or receiving a message that says limited or no connectivity. Sometimes it will hold the connection for a while, but eventually it disconnects, and then never wants to reconnect again unless I turn off my wireless card or I restart it (either of which do not work all the time as solutions ). Also, if this laptop gets on the network, it may kick the other computer near it off the network or the other way around. This network has WPA2 security, does that make it less compatible with my card? Does my wireless card have a compatibility issue with using an N router? Or is there a way to adjust software to fix this problem? I have tried to find solutions to this on my own but I have not been sucessful.

not quite an overclocking question but i figured you guys would probably know what to tell me haha

i have an hp dv6238 laptop
intel dual core t2250 1.73GHz cpu

(not sure exactly what other info you need, do let me know. i have everest and can pull most right off there. unfortunately chipset comes up as "unknown" but if you can tell me another way to find it i'll do so.)

i'd like to upgrade to something

"2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent"

having read the dv6000 (which seem to all use the same motherboard) maintenance/service list it suggested intel t7200 as the top (unsure if its top in terms of what was available when it was written or top in terms of what this system can support) but i've had mixed comments on whether its actually compatible so i'm at a loss

any help would be greatly appreciated

ideally i'd like something thats pretty much a "drop in" replacement that wont require me to change everythign else and in effect cause me to have to rebuild the entire computer (at which point i may aswell get a new more up to date one since this is about 3 yrs old now hahaha)

thanks again all

A:laptop CPU upgrade-compatibility questions

You can upgrade(assuming you have 943GML chipset) to any Socket M cpu here without any BIOS upgrade:
List of Intel Core microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
T2700 is very expensive but T2500 not very far off from T2700.
If you like C2D, the best value for money is T7200 as T7400 and T7600 are over priced IMO. You have to upgrade to the latest BIOS.
List of Intel Core 2 microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You also must find out what chipset you have using CPU-z. Post the screen shot of the findings.

I have a laptop...The DELL Latitude E5440...I am trying to use my flat screen TV's (LG TVs) as a monitor for the small DELL laptop screen so I can see better.

I've tried connecting from the laptop to both of my LG TV screens...one of the is a 32 in and the other is a 37 in.
I've tried connecting using HDMI and VGA...both TVs continue to say no signal when trying to connect using HDMI connection.

Can someone help me determine if I can do this. Both TVs have HDMI...Why no signal? Shouldn't it work if the laptop has an HDMI plug in and the TVs have HDMI plugins? Or is not that simple. My ultimate goal is that I have to use the laptop for my work...I need to know which kind of TV would be compatible with my work laptop.

Any help or input from anyone would be truly appreciated!

I currently use an EliteBook 820 with a 24" HD display (1920 x 1080) connected through a 3005pr port replicator. I am considering getting an ultrawide (21:9) display to replace the existing one, to better view large spreadsheets, but the documentation with the laptop and port replicator are rather vague about supported display resolutions. A 29" ultrawide display would have 2560 x 1080 pixels; a 34" version would have 3440 x 1440. Does anyone know if the existing graphics chipset and driver in the laptop/port replicator can support displays of these resolutions? If not, would such displays be supportable with updated/different drivers? Thanks for any pointers on this, before I spend/waste my money!

I am an artist and would like to use the touchscreen with a stylus to sketch. Is there a stylus available that can do this? I cannot find it listed under accessories for this model.

A:Inspiron 15-5579 2-in-1 laptop, stylus pen compatibility?

If you don't see a stylus listed, the system has a touchscreen -- not a digitizer, which is what you need for full, pressure-sensitive pen support.
If you want full pen support, some of the Inspiron 15-7000 series models have it.  These are going to start in the $900 range -- not he mid-$600 range the 5000 series does.  The digitizing screen alone adds a couple of hundred dollars to the cost of the system - you're not going to find pen support much below $900-1,000 systems.

I have recently bought the Laptop HP Pavilion 17 ab000nv (product number: E9P77EA ), i7 6700HQ, 8Gb DDR4 RAM for a fortune from a crappy shop ( Stephanis in Cyprus ( http://www.stephanis.com.cy/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=6246&tt=... ) that does not offer any after-sales support.

specs here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-17-ab00...

Not to mention how difficult is to unscrew and dismantle this piece of crap in order to replace the RAM.

I would like to have your precious support. I have just purchased the RAM which seems to be incompatible.

The pre-installed RAM on this model is 8GB (4GB x 2). So I decided to upgrade into 32GB by purchasing a pair of HyperX Impact HX424S14IBK2/32 Notebook Memory 32 GB Kit (2 x 16 GB) 2400 MHz DDR4 CL14 SODIMM, 1.2 V, 260-Pin.

The above RAM works only when a Single Module is inserted (16GB). When both modules are inserted the Laptop does not work. (It is something with the Mhz speed of the RAM I guess)

But the BIOS of this laptop is much crappier than expected. It looks like a toy for idiots who don't want to tweak anything. I really feel like a piece of crap that I spent so much money on a Laptop that does not allow me to tweak.

Thanks God I purchased the RAM from Amazon.co.uk which accepts returns for compatibility issues. I went to my nearest Post Office and sent it back.

But I purchased the Laptop from a shop that wouldn't refund or replace, and anyway, it has no serious gaming laptops in stock.

Hi amitd,
The security slot on a laptop is of universal standard and it will be compatible with any Laptop Lock. You may consider purchasing the same.

I recently had issues with my PSU and rather than play guesswork on whether its still functional, I rather just replace it.

My motherboard is a m3n78-pro. Its a bit dated but I'd like for this pc to last another 6 months before I build an entirely new rig. If I read the manual correctly, it requires ATX 12V V2.0.

The PSU I'd like to change to (since it just has to last another 6 months) this 900 w PSU. Would the m3n78-pro be compatible with this PSU? One concern I had was that the m3n78-pro requires a 4 pin ATX +12v connector. If I read the PSU's specifications correctly it has one 12V 8-pin (4 + 4) CPU power connector. Is that 8-pin two separate power connector, ie do I just use 1 of the connectors to fit into the 4 pin ATX +12v connector?

Please excuse my noobishness but what exactly does the v2.92 Motherboard specification entail? I tried to google it, but got less useful information and product results from newegg.

Also I read the wiki on the ATX 12V V2.X standard, but it didn't answer my question - is ATX12V v2.3 backwards compatible with the ATX12V v2.0 standard?
Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Hi, I've just bought a new graphics card, it's a second hand radeon HD 4870x2 fitted with an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 4870x2 cooler. It has two 6 pin connectors. This is probably going to sound incredibly stupid, but is this compatible with my PSU, and if so, how do I connect it? My PSU is a Win Power ATX - 700l. I know the card is compatible with everything else but upon opening the case I can't see anywhere to connect it - the only unconnected connectors are a very slim black 5 pin connector and a very tiny (I think Sata) connector.

If I need a new PSU that isn't really a problem, I just really wanted this card!

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. my pc specs are as follows:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor, AMD64 Family 16 Model 4 Stepping 3
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 4095 Mb
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, 512 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 380618 MB, Free - 290508 MB; D: Total - 19383 MB, Free - 14699 MB; E: Total - 553865 MB, Free - 305297 MB;
Motherboard: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD, 770-C45 (MS-7599)

How do I know if a part of is compatible with another part or not?

A:Solved: Compatibility

Too vague of a question for the most part, but as a generalization you would research them.

If you are referring to a processor then you would go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and check the supported CPU list.

For a video card you would need to check that the motherboard and video card has the same type of slot/interface. Although all modern cards use PCI-Express and so do all modern motherboards and PCI-Express is backward and forward compatible between different versions to a point.

For a power supply you'd make sure you have all the connectors you need and that the wattage is sufficient for what will be in the computer, mainly the video card as it's the most power hungry.

A few months ago I scrapped my old Dell dimension 4700 after having a number of problems with it.

Recently, I have been thinking that since I am no longer using it, maybe I could salvage the ram sticks from it and use them to upgrade the ram of my mother's computer, but I'm not sure about compatibility.

My old dell 4700 had two, 512MB 1RX8 PC2-3200U-333-11-A0, 512MB DDR2, 400, CL3 ram sticks. (according to the stickers on them)

My mother's computer is a dell dimension 3000, and it has two, 256MB DDR-400MHZ-CL3, PC3200-3033-0-A0 ram sticks. Additionally, her computer only has two ram slots (compared with the six my old computer had), though I don't know if that's relevant information.

I was hoping I would be able to take out the two sticks from my mother's computer, and replace them with the two sticks from my old computer, essentially doubling her ram. But I'm not sure if they're compatible, and I don't want to risk damaging her computer, since it's the only one she has right now.

So my question is, would it be safe to replace my mother's current ram sticks with the ones from my old computer? Are they compatible? If you need any further information let me know what it is and how I can find it.

A:Solved: RAM compatibility

Nope, can't do. Your computer uses DDR2 and hers uses DDR - they are not interchangeable. But your definitely on track with wanting to upgrade her memory; 256MB is very low for a Windows XP PC these days.

DDR isn't terribly expensive, check out www.crucial.com or another manufacturer's site and they usually have a configuration utility that will tell you want memory they have that is compatible with her computer.

I am interested in upgrading my Acer 5745 laptop (purchased fall 2010) from a 320 GB HDD to a 512 SSD. I am unsure how to figure out whether or not my laptop is compatible with SSD drives and whether or not it would be worth the upgrade.

I have never upgraded my hard drive before, so I am unsure what to look for. Can you recommend any drives for my specific laptop? If you need more information, I will be able to retrieve it later tonight, in about 6-8 hours.
