I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Jmallensmith,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have the tools and have tried laptop disassembly before then you can take the time to review the hardware manual here to guide on the steps as it would need multiple parts to remove first.

Keeping a video record specially for the screws and slots can always be handy placing parts back.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Hello, From the Hardware Maintenance Manual - Yoga 700-11ISKhttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/yoga_700-11isk_hmm_201510.pdf?LinkTrack=Solr&#page=... RAM can't be upgraded, it's soldered on the board. The SSD can (it's a M.2 SSD).

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 700-11ISK six days ago.  Like others posts I have read, I too have noticed a strong unpleasant odour eminating from the exterior of my computer.  The smell is mainly coming from the top lid (screen) of the computer.  It reminds me of the smell cats leave when they have 'sprayed' their territory.  If the PC has been in a room all day, the smell is quite overpowering when I come home in the evening.   I was thinking of wiping the surface but I do not want to cause any damage until I have received advice on the matter.

Having purchased two of this laptop, I am having a frequent problem with the network adoptor on this. What I have done:a) check the update network drivers and receiving the latest is installed messageb) deleting the three network drivers and letting the OS (windows 10) install, which it did, and the problem persisted.c) uninstalled and downloaded the drivers from Lenovo site and installed it. No avail.d) installed the downloaded driver without uninstalling; no help. I am now considering changing the adaptor and don't know how. I don't know what to buy and whether it is as easy as opening the back and clipping out the old and pushing in the new one or what. I had only three months warranttee and I bought from Groupon on March 15, 2017.

So I recently started up this laptop and when it first boots up and creates a clicking sound whenever audio tries to play, now i have tried reinstalling the drivers. so i figured it might be a hardware issue. After going insides and tracing the speaker wires everything seems fine i even took out the speaker and tested the speaker with a audio jack (Jimmy Rigged lol) But everthing is fine. now i took a look at the motherboard to see if any thing looked fried so i can try resolder it but i cant seem to find anything. and i really dont want to go replace the motherboard just yet. and hoping someone came across this also and found a solution.

I installed Linux on my Yoga and it works fine.  I'm ready to head back to Windows 10 but am running into issues. I made a recovery stick in Windows 10 via USB before installing Linux.  Problem is now I'm not able to use make it through the recovery process.  It gets to the end and all Windows says is "There was a problem recovering your PC".  Google searching all I come up with "there was a problem resetting your PC".    Not sure what the difference in resetting vs. recovering but either way I'm stuck.  Some posts mentioned it's the compression used on the USB recovery stick, but I'm at a loss.   I hit Yes and No to the TSM message when I come across that.   I usually get that RSM or whatever prompt after the recovery failed message.   It doesn't seem to matter what I select there.  What do I have to do to get Windows back on this thing?

I have a Yoga 700-11ISK, and would frequently put it to sleep, put it in my backpack, & pull it out hours later to find it RED hot & the battery 90% drained.  After wasting an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out why it kept doing this (and damaging other items in my backpack due to the extreme heat), I came across this thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/25982/page/2 The problem is that the keyboard remains active even when the lid is closed, so if it gets squeezed in such a way that the screen internally presses a key, it will silently wake itself up.  Apparently Lenovo has spent the past four years churning out laptop after laptop that suffer from this defect, never thinking to learn from their mistakes.  Here are more:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-keyboard-wakes-laptop-from-sleep/...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Return-of-the-wake-while-lid-closed-proble...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/35267/page/6 I've tried the hack/script solution proposed in the first thread, but it doesn't work (the keyboard can't be disabled by DevManView without a reboot).  The other threads apply to the Yoga 900, which I guess Lenovo fixed with a BIOS update. This issue is such a problem that I've literally stopped carrying the laptop around...which was th... Hello all, I am having audio troubles with my Yoga 700-11ISK. It began when I noticed one day that I was not getting any sound out of the speakers. I would hear a crackling sound emitted from the speakers sometimes when I scrolled with the touchpad or the touchscreen. I do seem to be able to get sound when plugging in headphones (but the sound quality isn't good and there is static interference sound). Troubleshooting steps I have already taken: (Not listed in specific order, have retried many steps in different combinations) Static Discharge: I disconnected the AC power cord, turned off machine etc, then pressed down the power button and held for 30 seconds.Installed LSB: Conducted all diagnostic scans for hardware and software. I was not able to get sound from my speakers regardless of which sound drivers were installed. I also implemented the suggested changes to my sound settings (i.e disabling sound effects, dolbi audio effects, etc)Downloading and reinstalling all firmware/software from Lenovo: Installed up to date BIOS updates, chipset, audio controllers, drivers, etc.Inspected the internals: MOBO, wiring. Everything appears fine.Purchased and installed a new set of speakers- Just to ensure it was not a hardware related issue.Factory resetAs of today, the speaker popping/cracking sound is gone but I still am not able to get any sound. Does anybody have any additional suggestions? December of 2016 I purchased a Lenovo for the first time in my life as a Christmas present to myself, having some bit of doubt I went out on a limb because it was a sale at Costco.   It was about February of 2017 that I first began to experience a disruptive flickering in the screen when I moved my laptop from one surface to another. In March 2017 the problem began to make the system barely usable. Requiring me to shut the screen and reopen it to get it working again. Sometimes that would work and I had to perform a hard shutdown. I contacted Lenovo support around this time to see about getting it repaired, the only options were to send it in or drop it off at best buy for repair. My preference was to send it in to Lenovo for repair, thinking that their repair facility would be better equipped.  Unfortunately this was the same week I was heading back to The Netherlands for 7 weeks and this laptop was the only way I could skype back and forth with my kids while away. I opted to deal with the problem as frustrating as it was. Flash forward to November 2017, I finally got around to being able to send it to Lenovo. I travel often and for the reasons above would rather have had an intermitting system than nothing at all however in after returning from over a month in Brazil, I was completely fed up! I finally was able to commit to backing up all my data and sending it off.   I received my laptop back in late November 207 just in time for my next ... Read more

New Yoga 700 11. Screen flickers continuously after returning from sleep. Stops after a reboot. Problem started right after unboxing and remains after running Windows Update. Windows now at version 1511. Intel HD Graphics driver now at 20.19.15.4300. Searching for Intel HD Graphics driver updates from Device Manager doesn't detect anything -- though I see the Intel site has a 15.40.14.4352 version that claims to address screen flicker. Automated brightness management is off. The laptop is plugged in, so battery power saving shouldn't be a factor. Question for the community: can I install the 4352 driver from the Intel site? Or do I have to wait for Lenovo to add special OEM features to the stock Intel driver?

Hello, I bought my Yoga just over a month ago, and not sure if this is an issue or normal for this laptop. When it's plugged in and charging, both the charging adaptor and the bottom of the laptop become very very hot (like burning hot, you wouldn't be able to hold your hand on the surface for over a few seconds). It eventually cools down to normal once taken off charge. I cannot go to the shop where I bought the laptop as I'm abroad for the summer so just want to be sure there is no fault with my laptop / chargin adaptor. Or alternatively, would I be able to use the international warranty if this is faulty? Thanks in advance. Lena

Hi everybody,Ive bought a used Yoga 710-11ISK (Pentium, 4GB, 128GB SSD) mid-November 2017. Since then it worked flawlessly and perfect for my usage pattern. Two days ago I did notice that the notebook didnt turn on. Expecting an empty battery Ive charged it, unplugged it and left it sitting until today late afternoon as I was not at home yesterday. However, after charging the battery it still wouldnt start, so I took a deeper look. It turned out that the device did turn on if I opened the screen to tent or tablet mode. In that case it worked without any problems. Screen flat on the table or in laptop position caused the notebook to immediately go blank and switch off.Due to that behaviour, I do suspect some sort of broken display cable between display and base chassis. Is there anything else I can do to verify that? Is that a common problem with Yoga flip-screen devices? If this proves true, the next step would be to contact Lenovo support to fix it. Therein lies a bit of a problem. It may sound funny, but warranty ended exactly yesterday (09. January 2018), leaving me with a device without warranty. Any good ideas on that issue?Thank you in advanceRegardsAxel

I have a relatively new 700-11isk. I plugged in a micro-usb cable last week and instantly an error in Windows 10 popped up and said that it had a USB power surge. I disconected the cable and reset it. I DID check the cable, and found that near the connector, two internal wires had frayed from wear and were shorted. Now, everytime I turn on my Yoga, and at other random times, I keep getting the USB power surge error, even when nothing is plugged in, and neither the USB 3 or the USB port on the right side work when I plug a device in, BUT they do provide power. Also, the controllers and hub are in device manager, with no error codes or anything. The USB port/Charging port does still work when I plug in a device.  I have done all the recommendations, including turning it off, popping open the case and disconnecting the battery and holding down the power, and I did a full BIOS reset. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the devices in Windows. I have never ran into this before. I could do a Windows reset/reinstall,, but i JUST did that a few weeks ago and am in the middle of a project, so really dont want to. I had wanted to change the minimum amount of memory to my intel HD 515 graphics and make some other tweaks for gaming, and I turned off my laptop, pushed the novo button on the side, it booted up and I chose the Bios setup option. I started going through the menus and I HAD an advanced menu which gave me the graphics memory options, it had overclocking options, option to enable NFC, 3D Camera and a bunch of other stuff. I even showed to someone, so I was NOT hallucinating haha. I had decided to reboot and wait so I could google a lot of the options as I didn't understand some of the super-super advanced settings. When I went back to the bios, no advanced menu is present and I can NOT get it back. A lot of stuff says you CAN'T get it, but I DID.  Anyone? Was it some super weird glitch or did I bump the right key combo? A:Yoga 710-11isk BIOS bins/exe, previous versions, original bin?

Hello and welcome,

I hesitate to suggest this - try at your own risk...

Do you know the version you're looking for - as translated to 22, 24, etc?  I don't see previous versions listed in the README.

If you know the desired version numbers try modifying the current link and see if you can access the file.  I just tried using the v24 link, modifying to 22 and could download the v22 exe.  That's the only one I know to test.

Like I said: kids, don't try this at home...

Z.

I've got a Lenovo Yoga 700-11ISK that I've reformatted and reinstalled with Windows 10 Pro.  I've been unable to get the rotation lock / rotation sensor working, which seems to be a very common problem.  However, none of the common solutions has seemed to fix the issue.  Below is a detailed list of everything I?ve learned.  Note that whenever I refer to "Tent Mode," I mean the device's screen is physically rotated (?folded back?) more than 180 degrees.  Don?t confuse this with "Tablet mode," the software-based switch available in the Win10 Action Center; when I say "Tent Mode," I refer only to *physically* folding back the screen. First, let's establish how it behaves on the factory image (i.e. the copy of Windows that comes with the system).  These are the desired/expected behaviors, which I?m listing point-by-point for comparison to how it mis-behaves on my fresh Windows 10 Pro install: 1) In Tent Mode, "Rotation Lock" is available in the Action Center; otherwise, it's greyed.2) In Tent Mode, "Lock rotation of this display" is available in System->Display settings; otherwise it's greyed.3) In Tent Mode, the ?Allow the screen to auto-rotate? checkbox in the Display control panel is available; otherwise it?s greyed.4) In Tent Mode, the physical rotation lock button works; pressing it shows a ?auto rotate on/off? OSD.  Otherwise the button has no effect.5) In Tent Mode, registry key HK... Read more

Go to device manager by typing "device manager" in search.Expand the "Display Adapters" tab.Under it you'll find "Intel HD Graphics", right click on it and select uninstall. (Do not check the "delete the driver software for this device).Your screen will turn off and back on, that is normal.Click on "Action" which is on the top of the window, just beside the "File" menu.Click on "Scan for hardware changes" and then wait for a minute. The problem should be fixed.

Hi! I have seen a few other posts on here about havig issues with the brightness changing and have looked to them first before writing my own post. I have made sure that Enable Dynamic Brightness is turned off under the Lenovo Vantage settings and I have Change brightness automatically turned off under my system settings, but I can still still see my brightness changing when I change from light to dark backgrounds and it is getting VERY annoying. It makes reading, or doing anything on the computer for that matter, very difficult and I can't figure out why it keeps changing when I have everything turned off. I have also checked to make sure none of the drivers need updating but they are all updated and have rebooted my computer multiple times. Is anyone else having this issue or does anyone know why this is still happening?? Thanks!

I have a new Lenovo Laptop with Windows 10 preinstalled. For some reason the screen flashes (goes dark and then comes back). I'm not sure why this is happening. Lenovo Solutions doesn't find any updates. There are some Lenovo Solution Center display-related options but i'm not sure what they do.
