I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dear Lenovo Team, I have the same hinge problem with a lot of users already reported here. I have purchased my Lenovo u330 touch notebook in 2014 July in Turkey and it's still under warranty. I've never dropper or caused any other physical damage on the notebook. The left hinge was broken off during the normal usage (by opening the lid). Last week i've sent the notebook to the Lenovo Service Center here in Istanbul, Turkey but they are requesting 300$ for recover, even it's under  the regular warranty. According to the Service Center, it's a user fault. Please help me to understand how it can be a user fault? I though notebooks are designed for mobile usage and they have lids for opening and closing up. If opening a lid is a user fault then i'd expect to see "Use with only open lid, do not touch the lid never ever!" warning in the user manual. My warranty will be expired in a month and i'm still hoping some help on this. Many thanks.

I have the Yoga 720. I adore it, but it was a gift. My last laptop was pretty much obliterated by a well-meaning, but giant 120 doofus dog that doesn't understand the meaning of personal space. My house has lots of fur and lots of invasive dogs (two german shepherds & an italian greyhound) and several even more invasive cats. I am looking for:1. A protective case2. A keyboard cover to keep the hair out3. Screen protector Do you know of any? Or are any particularly your favorite?

I purchased Dell 5558 last year through eBay. I am a cautious user of digital gadgets. My laptop cover and its hinges are broken because of normal wear and tear. This product is bogus and worst. besides there is no proper service from dell. I think lenovo products are better than Dell at least they provide prompt services and their spare parts are easily available in market in India. I suggest every one not to go for Dell

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I've had the Yoga 13 (1st generation) for a little more than a year now and the bottom cover of the laptop (with the 10 screws and the manufacturers stickers) has cracked right next to the hinge. The screw had fallen out and over time it eventually cracked. I replaced the screw so it's in place now, but I would like to replace the bottom panel. How would I go about removing it and replacing it? It seems to be attached to something and I don't want to just pry it open and break something. It's off warranty now too.  Thanks!

Hello there Lenovo Forums.I am writing here because I have a problem with my thinkpad screen and back cover. Just recently I've noticed that the back cover tends to unstick/come off/unglue/disconnect from the glass screen (I am not a native speaker and can't really find a good word to describe it). The whole thing happens mostly when opening the notebook. As the hinges are quite firm and opening the laptop is not as easy as in a macbook it requires some force to open it. I usually open the laptop just as one would open any other e.g. macbook pro. Grab the middle of the screenwith one hand, grab body with other hand and it opens. After noticing what is going on i started grabbing it from the sides to prevent further harm to the machine which is quite counter intuitive for me. Furthermore the camera lens started to get dusty because of the problem. Getting to the problem. Should I just get it repaired by Lenovo, as the device is under warranty, or it is considered user damage even though it seems that the screen unit is faulty. Here I provide photos of what is going on.After opening can see backlightThe glass sticks out of frameMy temporary fix is to get it back into place by pushing it back into frame, but after opening the laptop from the middle of the screen it goes back everytime. Thanks for replies,Jacob

I volunteered to help a friend upgrade the memory and SSD in their Yoga 460. I've worked on a lot of older ThinkPads, and the HMM made it look pretty easy. But when it says "pry" off the bottom cover, they are not kidding! Unfortunately I'd misplaced my spudgers, so I used an old credit card to help pry the cover off. In the process I broke one of the clips near the power connector. I think I pushed the credit card inward a little too hard. The machine went back together OK, but of course there is now a tiny gap where that clip isn't holding it. My friend treats computers fairly roughly and may not care, but it's bugging me a bit. I should have looked more closely before putting the machine back together, but now I don't remember whether the clip I broke off is part of the base cover or part of the piece it snaps onto (the keyboard bezel?). Would anyone happen to know? If the clip was part of the base cover it would be pretty easy to get a new one and replace it. Thanks!

Another complaint for a broken hinge issue on the 5558 laptop. Of course Dell Service will tell you that there is no known issue for this problem but search the forum and you will find several complaints. Dell is doing nothing about this problem and in my opinion they are definitely side stepping the issue so they do not have to take care of their customers. Dell service claims that the defect is due to "Customer Induced Damage". Dell also claims there is no known issue for this defect so you will have to call the "Out of Warranty" department. The out of warranty department will charge you 160 bucks and take your laptop for 7 to 10 business days. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING for a laptop that is less than six months old and definitely does not have any customer induced damage.
Laptop purchased 5/13/16
Laptop broke 10/12/16
Spent an hour and a half with DELL chat - Session ID <private> - Result you are <profane>. DELL does not care if you have a defective product.
On my laptop, the actual hinge did not break but the laptop cover broke away from the hinge. Obviously the plastic cover mounting pads are not strong enough to handle the repeated torque on the joint when opening the laptop.

Hi all,
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-5717SLV Signature Edition
Purchase date: 12/09/2015
I am so glad to see to see that I am not the only one who has a hinge cover broken as I was beginning to think that I might have accidentally bumped the laptop somewhere (I am extremely cautious electronics user and none of the electronics products I used had physical damage in past.).   As you can see in picture, left side hinge cover is broken which causes the display screen to come off when I try to close the lid.  Getting hold of the customer representative is an ordeal itself but when I finally could get hold of the guy, he told me that this damage is not covered under the one-year warranty and I will have to pay $150/- in order for this laptop to get looked at by dell professional plus have to bear the cost of the new part.
Apart from this problem, touchpad is too sensitive to touch of my palm and cursor goes all over the place when I type. I have tried to change touchpad settings from control panel and uninstall the touchpad drivers but it has not helped.
Overall I think this laptop is of low quality. Now I understand that Inspiron products can’t be compared with Vostro or Latitude products, but this laptop is bad for even Inspiron standards. My four-year-old Inspiron N4110 is way better than this laptop and still working fine. I am sorry to say this but this has been one of the worst products I have ever used.

A:Lenovo Ideapad 320: Scratched Top Cover

Well something is scratching it, so step one would be to find out what is causing them, perhaps when putting in the case/backpack etc.      Try some automotive cleaner/wax on a soft cloth and see if that will take care of the scratches, but I would not bother trying to replace the cover as that would open a huge can of worms.

Hey all, I'm dealing with the dreaded hinge issue and found myself needing to replace the back cover. I have a Lenovo Ideapad S510p Touch, model number 20299, but the two parts that are compatible according to the hardware maintenance manual, are eitherLS51P LCD Cover With 0.3M Camera TS   Part #90203869LS51P LCD Cover With 1M Camera TS       Part #90203884I can't for the life of me tell whether I have a .3M camera or a 1M camera. Has anyone had any luck finding a specific Lenovo part with a number, where did you order? I'm also wondering whether I can just take off the camera on my current case and use it on a replacement cover as the camera itself isn't damaged, just the plastic backing where the right hinge's screws are supposed to be. Has anyone had any luck ordering a cheap non-touch cover for their touch? I don't use touch anyway so if fits without the added touch functionality, I will be happy.I also want to add how the problem came about. It's not under warranty anymore, but the right hinge suddenly got very stiff, the hinged somehow tightened itself. Trying to close the top normally is what caused the hinge screws to separate from the plastic backing on the case.

Not happy. 1) the cover cracked at the hinges a few months after I got the laptop. Didn't think it was an issue. Wasn't an issue until number 2 happened. I then put black electric tape across the cracks on the cover.2) the display is separated from the cover. I put black electric tape all over it.3) the right hinge is popping in and out. So I have an issue with my t460s that turned out to be a broken LCD rear cover. I posted about it and got a good answer pointing me to very thorough instructions on how to fix it:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-loose-left-hinge-losse-from-screen... I found the part I need, it's part number 00JT994 LCD,Rear,Cover,WQHD. Now the problem is that the Lenovo shop assumes I am in the Unites States for shipping. And I am not, I am in Madrid, Spain. I am not sure what I did wrong, I started from the Spanish site with my registered user account. Then clicked on part finding and there all was in English, not a problem for me, but I think the shop assumes you are in the US from there. Is it possible to get support from Lenovo in Spain to buy this replacement part? How?

I have always been satisfied by Lenovo products. I've been a customer for many years and even since IBM thinkpad days, I found Lenovo business series laptops extremely durable and strong. I am right now the owner of a Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd Gen and a Yoga 260. Both are in international warranty. After some use, I realised that on the top cover, on the left, right upon the display hidge, there was something that looked like a scratch. The thing is that I pay extreme attention and care to my laptops, so no scratch could happen without me knowing. Next, I thought that it couldn't be possible and I tried watching the "scratch" while I opened and closed the lid several times. My fears were confirmed: opening and closing a $1600 laptop was tearing the material of the cover. At first I thought it was just my case. You know something that happens once in a 100,000 devices. So I called the local lenovo support and the really nice guys guided me through the process. They told me such things are not being covered by Lenovo so they had to send some photos to Lenovo central support in order for them to decide whether to change my cover whose crack was getting wider and wider while I was opening and closing the lid. I need to mention that I am a developer and I make very smooth usage of my machines. My laptop's base cover is starting to pop up, sorta like the picture below. When I try to open my laptop, the cover starts to pop up, and whenever I try to see what I can do, the fan starts to make some loud "fan" noises. I've had this laptop for 3 years so far, but the Hard Drive had died the first year, but I recently fixed it with a new Hard Drive, so I had to fix up all the drivers and software. I had never gotten a warranty, so I can't get a repair, and I don't have the money to get a repair. I'm really afraid for it to die, and I don't have anything else to fallback onto unless it does die. If anyone has a fix or anything that can help me out, even a temporary fix, anything would be appericiated greatly Same type of problem I have.In that thread, someone had fixed it with some glue and reseated screws, but I really don't want to risk anything big, since I have no clue what screws to fix and which ones to not

A:Lenovo N580 - Cover above fan vent popping up

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem with the case opening up.  From what you have described and pictured, my guess is that the hinge is either loose or has broken loose from its mounting.  When the lid is opened there is nothing securing the left side hinge so the hinge turns and pushes up the palm rest top cover.  Since the heat sink fan is also located near the left hinge a piece of the assembly, when the top cover is moved, must be coming in contact with the fan blades and thus causing the noise.

As for the repair, it is difficult to say what needs to be replaced or what can be fix without personally viewing the laptop.  I would see if there is a local computer repair shop that could look the laptop over and give you an estimate for the fix.  Your laptop is old enough where used parts are available on eBay and that would help hold down the cost.  I'm guessing at the minimum that you would need to replace at least the base cover for the laptop.

My S510p's headphone jack is damaged due to physical impact as depicted in the photo below, now the headphone plug keeps falling out (I have to hold it in place for it to work properly).  What do I do? Is the headphone jack on the main board in this model? Can it be repaired?  ?

Hey, some time ago I dropped my 700-15ISK onto a floor and it dinged the corner near the right speaker (i.e. the upper case). The laptop still works fine and I did not have any technical problem with it.  The lower case is intact. However, I am thinking that just for the sake of aesthetic it may be a good idea to replace the upper cover. In the service manual the upper cover and the keyboard is actualy regarded as one part. How difficult will be to replace the upper cover? Based on the manual it seems that I would have to disasemble the lower cover and all hardware (SSD, board etc.), although it does not describe such process in any way. Also, I checked ebay and other stores and they only sell the upper case without the keyboard (despite the service manual regards them as one part). My keybord is fine so will it be possible to "combine" my keboard and the new upper case without too much of a hassle?  Thanks

I received a laptop from my father and the fan needs to be replaced. But I cannot figure out how to remove the cover. There are no screws at all on the base, even under the rubber feet. There appears to be some kind of security lock on the right side but I have no key. Or it is a slot for a lock cable. I have a picture of the bottom of the laptop if somebody needs it, as well as other pics.
