Replacement Wifi Card Compatible with Dell Inspiron 17R SE

Q: Replacement Wifi Card Compatible with Dell Inspiron 17R SE

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Just picked up an Inspiron 5576 gaming laptop a week ago. Was pulling my hair out thinking I had a router problem as I was getting great speed over a wired Ethernet line but terrible slowdowns over wifi. I tried rolling back/updating drivers, tried resetting the router, changing channels, etc. Our other devices were running normally, just the new laptop couldn't get over 3-4 mb/s download while everything else was testing at 45+ on a 50/50 network.

Anyway, found a cheap USB wifi dongle to test. Now it works normally, so it makes me think the actual card in the laptop is either bad or really poor reception. The upload speeds are normal, so maybe it's an antenna issue? Either way, since wifi cards are cheap, I was just going to replace it rather than send it in for service.
I've never replaced a wifi card... what's the best replacement that will fit my specific model? I think the current card is Qualcomm QCA9377.

Also, while I had the back panel open, I noticed I have an extra bay for a HDD. Will any 2.5 inch laptop drive work with this computer? Mine came with a 250gb SSD, would like a 2nd 500 gb drive for photo storage.

A:Brand new Inspiron 5576 w/wifi issues- replacement card?

My working theory is the factory installed a driver which was flawed but does not get replaced using the normal update process for drivers.
I would suggest before you look for a new wireless card that you open Programs and Features  and delete any Killer Wireless utilities listed there.  Then go into Device Manager and uninstall the device and check the box to uninstall all drivers.
It may be best to do this off line so have the new driver ready to install and then go offline while completing this process.
I installed the 1535 on one of my systems just to test.  I liked it so much I left it on that system.  Hopefully, the procedure above will help.

I was given the Dell Inspiron 5720 laptop.  Upon testing it cannot connect to my 5GHz Wireless.  After further researching the wireless card in the laptop is only configured for 2.4GHz Wireless.  My home Wifi has dual band 2.4 and 5.0 GHz.  someone suggested i replace the card with something like this:http://or http://Not sure what to buy, what are the advantages or disadvantages.  Am I better off with replacing the actual card inside the laptop?Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I have a dell inspiron 15 3542. Im planning on upgrading the wifi card to some third party card. My question is, is the wifi card binded or proprietary to the system? Is there really anything preventing me from using a third party adapter, provided it is the right form factor and is the same slot?

(Just posting this here so people in the future can find it.) I replaced my motherboard and just wanted to leave this here for future reference to some poor soul who has to do the same.
If you replace the motherboard on your Dell Studio XPS 8000, (service tag 3L8DHK1) and you need a new motherboard you can use an INTEL DQ57TM, it's compatible and I did a successful transplant. Your processor is an INTEL Core-i5 750 CPU 2.67GHZ it uses a SOCKET LGA1156. It uses DDR3 memory.
Once you take out your old motherboard and disconnect all those usb and audio wires and the power button wires. To hook up your USB front jacks, audio jacks etc.... here's which blocks go where:
Wires from the audio jacks and usb ports go into these colored block connectors, and those connectors get plugged into those little rows of pins/jumpers called Internal Headers. Every motherboard manual tells you about them. Grab the manual for your new motherboard and it'll tell you where your audio1, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4 Header connectors are they look like 2 rows and 5 collumns of short little pins. (They almost always have 1 or 2 pins missing on purpose.)
the wires leading to a YELLOW BLOCK gets plugged into the audio1 header on your new motherboard, it's for audio jacks on top of the computer
wires with the WHITE BLOCK gets plugged into the usb3 headers on your motherboard (they are for the usb jacks on the very top of the computer tower)
wires with the GREEN BLOCK gets plugged into ... Read more

Yesterday, I bought a replacement battery from a local vendor for my dell inspiron 15 3537 laptop.
The new battery is 6cell, 11.1 V, 440 mAh and 65 Wh battery. The original battery which came with laptop was 4 cell(aprox), 14.8V, 40Wh battery.
I have been looking over the internet to cure my obsession that the new battery may damage the laptop internal circuitry. I found some reasonable answers. Still, I want to get feedback from dell community about this issue.?
What dell recommends for replacing batteries and what to do if the same battery specs are not available? Also, What are the operational Voltage range for dell laptops for 3537 series?
Any help would be appreciated.

A:Dell Replacement Battery - 6Cell 11.1V, 65Wh - Dell Inspiron 15 - 3537

The 4 cell battery was designed to be used with the non touch variant of the Inspiron 3537 model.
Kindly review the specifications here. The power and range info is also mentioned in the specifications.
You could order the replacement battery from Dell site if required.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.

There is space inside only for one drive - a 2.5" hard drive or SSD.  You can replace the hard drive with any standard 2.5" SSD but you can't have both the SSD and a hard drive internally - the hard drive would need to be mounted in an external case and attached externally by USB.

I recently bought a video card ASUS RADEON RX 480  4 GB, and installed in my Dell Inspiron 620,  Windows 7  64 bit,  8GB of RAM,  Service Pak 1,  But did not worked all it does is showing a black screen saying "going to sleep mode"  then I tried it in my other Dell Inspiron 3647 (I know they are old)  Windows 10  64 bit,  4 GB RAM,  BIOS Ver  A05 but same results did not work .  fans of video card work fine.  So I was told that my PSU was to small so I got the 500 watts recommended one, but same results. So I thought that the card was defective and exchange it for a smaller ASUS RADEON RX 460 2 GB and installed it first in the Inspiron 620 but same results then I tried it in the Inspiron 3647 with the 500 W  PSU but did not work it gives same results. Is this an issue of compatibility or my computers are just too old? Does anyone have an idea of why this could be happening? Everything works fine once I connect monitor without the video card. Any help will be very appreciated.  Thanks. and have a good day.

A:Is Radeon RX 460 2GB compatible with Dell Inspiron 620

I found this answer to my problem  and sounds logical. Does anyone agree in the forum?  It suggest to buy a different card as a solution but in my case my computers are old and I think I'll be better off if I buy a new AMD based computer it seems that video cards are more widely used and more compatible than with Dell computers. But something good came out of all this research I did that I didn't know before. But I think most of us just know how to turn on and off a computer. Have a good day everyone
The 620 bios won't like the RX470 and the power supply wont support it.
You should get a GTX1050TI mini instead.  HOWEVER this is ONLY for the MINI Tower.  if you have a 620S neither card fits.

Three years late.  The answer is "Yes!" The Lenovo Flex 2 14/15 can be upgraded with a compatible wireless-AC card. The card detailed below can be installed successfully in the Flex 2-14 and it's pretty much a plug-n-play device under Windows 10. Ok after spending countless hours on the computer, talking to Dell Support and the Geek Squad I came to the conclusion that the Dell 530 is not compatible with ANY PCI to PCMCIA adapter! What's going on? This is just an appeal to anyone who may got it to work. If any of you guys out there got it to work.. PLEASE send me some feedback! This thread is not meant to ask anyone for tips on how to get it to work.. believe me I tried it all (if you have any suggestions though.. they are all welcome anyway) I would just like to know if anyone has encountered this issue and how it got fixed. I don't believe I am the only one who bought a Dell 530 that wants to use a PCI to PCMCIA adapter! If any of you guys got one and it worked, ANY reply would be appreciated! Thank you guys!

A:Dell Active Pen compatible with the Inspiron 15-5567?

No -- this system is not equipped with a pressure-sensitive digitizer. It's a touchscreen model.
If you want a digitizing 15" system, there aren't many out there - Lenovo has a couple of 15" systems that are true tablets.  Figure on well north of $1,000- probably nearer or over $1,500 -- for a 15" system with true tablet functionality. It's not what you'll find on a budget Insprion 5567.

A:is dell inspiron e1505 compatible with windows 7?

Hi there,
You'd be surprised at the amount of systems that can run Windows 7 now.
Dell's support website does not have any drivers listed, but you can run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to get a good idea.
If you're not using any MS specific applications (Office etc.) then you could always move to Ubuntu which is great for web browsing and basic computer tasks. It also uses very little resource when compared to Windows.

Is the Dell active pen Dell Part# : 750-AAMI compatible with the Inspiron 7352?
The description states it is compatible with "select" 2 n1 notebooks, but doesn't bother to list which notebooks. How hard is it to list  compatible hardware? You have to jump through hoops to find out what works and what doesn't. That is ridiculous from a customer service standpoint.
I took a *** and ordered the pen, the buttons work to bring up the Onenote application but I am unable to write on my screen with it. I don't know if there is something I am doing wrong or if it just isn't compatible. There is no decent online manual.
This compounded with all the wireless issues I have had with my Inspiron 7352 makes me  regret trying Dell again. I wish I would have never ordered or sent it back during the return period. At this point, I am ready to sell this computer for whatever I get for it , count the money I lost as a lesson learned and never buy another Dell again.

A:Is the Dell Active Pen compatible with the inspiron 7352?

I tried the Dell Active Pen and it didn't work with my 7352. The bluetooth can recognize the pen, however it fails to connect with it. I'm sending it back today. This was a colossal waste of time and money. There is some conflicting images and reviews out there. Some say the Dell Inspiron 13.3 2-in-1 7352 Special Edition model supports active touch. I'm still very interested in finding an active pen/stylus that supports palm rejection for the 7352. According to Lisa Gade (@ Mobiletechreviews), the SE 7000 models support the Dell Active Stylus (750-AAGN). However, I want to wait until I get confirmation from Dell that it does work.I am very disappointed that Dell is not forthcoming or explicit to which pens/styluses work with the 7352 model. If you hear anything, please let me know.

I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

If you do upgrade as well as possibly upgrading the psu you should also check for any increase in heat in the case as both cards(the 4670 more than the 5570) will generate more heat.

I replaced the oem wifi card with a card I got from ebay. Belarc advisor identifies it as Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, HOWEVER the purchase order says it's an IBM Lenovo G550 Fru 60Y3221 Anatel WiFi Wireless Card. I cannot for the life of me find drivers that will work with this thing, been in IT 20 years and I'm admitting defeat on this one so any help would be much appreciated. I can't find out much about Anatel except that their in Brazil their web site is in Portuguese and Babelfish was 0 help in finding drivers. I should mention that the thing shows up in device manager as enabled and working and the wifi light is on solid not blinking as it does when there is trouble. Apart from that, no Love at all. Edit: The following #s appear on the card:Lenovo P/N 60y3220, 20-002304FRU: 60Y3221H/C: 1ZHJWE/C: N62191 Thanks,Paul

Well while running Dell's maintenance software it showed that my battery was failing hmm. I have never used the laptop w/o it being plugged into the Ac charger and when used probably under a hour a day. It was new in 2013.

Does anyone know how Dell determines how the status of a battery is? Perhaps its just how old the battery is? I doubt that Dell's software actually has a Volt/Amp load tested built into the laptop??

With that all said if I do have to buy a battery who would handle the best bang for the buck? I see that the prices are all over the place ;-)

I have the laptop model inspiron 15R-5521 with service tag C8GMJX1, and would like to replace the touchscreen. The screen has two groups of vertical white lines, which do not appear on an external monitor, but these lines do appear on the LCD BIST test on all colors, except for white. The screen's glass is also cracked in a few places.
Firstly, can I purchase and install only a replacement glass for the screen? Alternatively, would it be possible to entirely replace the touchscreen with a non-touchscreen, matte display?

Our computer has been making a loud whirring sound from the fan at the top of the computer tower, I believe this is the CPU fan??

I'm trying to find a replacement, no help on the Dell website. Any suggestions?

A:Dell Inspiron 3847 CPU cooling fan replacement help

Turn off your Dell, then remove its side panel.
Examine the inside of the case to see how many fans(processor, power supply, graphic card, etc.) it has.

If the interior is full of dust, you should blow it out.
Pay particular attention to the fans and heat sink units.

Shine a light inside the case, then turn on your Dell.
You should be able to see which fan is making a loud whirring sound.

So I found my old Inspiron 1150 in my garage earlier and I've decided to try and revive it. The first problem would be the battery, whenever the laptop is on charge, the orange light indicating charge is blinking. After reading the manual I determined that it was because the battery is defective and I need some help with the specifics of replacing a battery. Ex: Do I have to consider it's capacity? Rating? I'd seriously appreciate replacement batteries.
FYI: The battery model is Li-ion 6T473

A:Dell Inspiron 1150 | Need help with battery replacement

First thing to verify is that the system starts up on AC only -- without the battery.  If it does not, more than just the battery is faulty (likely the mainboard).
This system has a resale value of well under $50 -- putting more than that into a battery or repair makes very little economic sense.  It's a 13 year old budget notebook -- if it works on AC power, use it that way - - if not, recycle it.

I'm trying to replace the motherboard in my AIO, Dell Inspiron One 2020. Since I've never done anything like this before, I'm following the User Manual exactly. I just ran into my first problem. The manual simply says "Disconnect all the cables from their connectors on the system board.' Well, that's not been as easy for me as it sounds. I'm hoping someone with prior experience will reply with a tip, trick or suggestion. My problem is I can't get the cables out of the connectors on the motherboard. With the exception of the hard drive and optical drive cables, there's not much to get hold of. I don't see any mechanical catches that need to be released. I assume I should not pull on the wires, just the male connector that is attached to the wires. I assume I should not use tools, but I'm considering the use of needle nose pliers, unless someone can offer me a better suggestion. I hope there's someone out there whose done this before and can offer helpful suggestions. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron One 2020 Motherboard Replacement

You just need to sometimes be a little forceful if the cable is stuck. Maybe squeeze the sides of the cable connector when pulling up.
Here are some tools you may need as well.
Phillips screwdriver • Hex nut driver • Plastic scribe

Hi all,
Any help would be appreciated. I have a dell inspiron 7559 and have opened my screen this morning to find that the screen has cracked - infuriating as you can imagine! I have definitely not dropped it and am amazed that it has broken. However, I was wondering whether anyone knew of possible places to get a replacement. The screen number is LP156UHD2 and the Dell P/N : 053FC4
The display itself still works fine and the touch screen works but the glass is causing interference with it so have disabled the function. It seems the glass is the only problem but I don't know whether that is replaceable on its own?
Any help would be appreciated!

A:Dell Inspiron 7559 Screen replacement

The glass isn't separately replaceable.  It's a single, fused unit that needs to be replaced that way.

I have a feeling that my Graphic card is about to die... Screen freezes sometime and the computer seems to be still running. It was saying for a while : "the graphic card has stopped working but has recovered" but now it stopped saying that and just freezes. Also sometimes when having it opened for a while and having lunched and used application requiring the graphic car to work I can see frozen pixels or stripes of frozen pixels in a video. My question is if I have to replace it would it be possible to go for an upgrade? I currently have Gforce 840Many inputs are appreciated
