Google redirect? No viruses found but active when active scripting enabled

Q: Google redirect? No viruses found but active when active scripting enabled

I've been fighting with some sort of redirect virus. Checked my computer with Malwarebates in Safe MOde, Normal Mode, etc. It did find some viruses but removed them and nothing is present anymore. I also checked my comp with BitDefender online scanner, SuperAntiSpyware, HijackTHis. They don't find any viruses. Computer works fast, although aftre all this checking and removal I found that sometimes when I click two windows too fast it locks and I have to reboot it by reset button.
Now the annoying part is that when I do Google search it still redirects me to various random sites. I also found that when I disable active scripting it does not do that, but then I cannot view YOuTube movies, etc.
Is ther a way to analyze and search for scripts that cause this. I assume it's just some stupid script that gets activated when I'm on line, because none of the AV programs I use finds any viruses anymore.
Any help would be appreciated

Preferred Solution: Google redirect? No viruses found but active when active scripting enabled

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have a windows 2000 server machine here at work. I didn't set it up but I am trying to get it working. I have the active directory running in a domain. I created and account and try to login but get the error message "cannot login because netlogon is not enabled" The only account that will login is the admin account. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

A:Logging in on active directory: netlogon not enabled

I don't really know the answer to this but that error sounds like the Netlogon service hasn't been started.

I would recommend checking that it is on Automatic and is Started. Services is located under Settings / Control Panel.

Sorry if this isn't directly Windows 7 related...but I'm struggling with it nonetheless.

I'm having an issue setting up a Mail Enabled Public Folder. I have the folder created, and anonymous are given proper access to allow incoming messages. My Exchange version is 2010 SP1, full updated, running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. Whenever I send a message to the mailbox's address, I get an undeliverable:

#554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn't found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory user wasn't found. ##

I know the e-mail address is typed in correctly, but I can't seem to figure out why messages aren't going through. I searched online and found some suggestions, all of which either didn't pertain to our environment, or involved patches...which I have installed.

I'd like to find all machines in our domain which have an active configuration of offline file synchronization.
Where can I find such a configuration? I'd like do it as login script and write the result to a file.
So a registry key or something similar would be fine. I tried it already with the CscService running or in the registry at this location: HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC but this did not yet really match. I have a lot of wrong hits.
Any ideas?

I know, hate to be that guy bringing up a topic people have been complaining of for years. But trust me, I would not be posting this if I had not spent the last 48 hours with 80 tabs open as I simultaneously browse a dozen forums while ripping my hair out...

Anyway, I have a brand new out of box Acer Aspire AX1935-UR20P running Windows 7 HP 64 with 8GB DDR3 mem. However It only came with one monitor port and one HDMI port, but as the HDMI input on my second monitor was fried by the lightning strike a cpl days ago (same reason I bought the new computer, the old one is now a paperweight) I next installed a new video card w/ extra monitor inputs -- an ASUS HD 5450 Silent, to be specific. And yes, that killed all my sound and microphone ports on both the front and back, which had minutes before all been working perfectly.

In BIOS, onboard audio is Enabled. As far as audio drivers, I disabled the HDMI audio device that the video card installed and activated (as per every forum thread I read). After ensuring the Realtek High Definition Audio was the default driver, I went to the Realtek web site to download, uninstalled old driver, and re-install the most current 64-bit version Everything went successfully, but despite several reboots and re-checks of all the other settings once more, I still have no sound.

My speakers are enable and active, it just refuses to acknowledge anything in the motherboard ports since the vid card was installed. The sound panel keeps readin... Read more

A:New vid card, no sound. BIOS enabled, drivers updated, device active..

Unless i missed this have you installed all updated drivers for your video card? And have you checked to make sure your default audio device has not switched to your video card instead, HDMI and im sure you aware of is both Video an audio and if your Graphics card as i see now has HDMI AVI and VGA ports, its possiable it may have simply switched default, they may both be enable'd.

The Google redirect rootkit found its way onto my computer, alongside "Windows 7 Recovery". By "found its way" I mean I don't download random .exes and I don't illegally fileshare. I followed the fairly routine steps to delete it but it's still active in some sort of way.
Google still redirects in Safemode with networking.

This is on Windows 7 Ultimate system which is updated regularly.

So far is have:
Checked my internet/browser isn't using a proxy
Fixed my Windows host file to read only "127.0" etc.
Scanned with RKill and it "terminated" the rootkit
Then checked Unhack Me... found nothing.
Used Unhide to recover hidden files on the Desktop
Continually cleared all Cookies
Tried to run TDSKILLER... it does nothing but Bluescreen me. I then used GMER as an alternative and it's came up with scan results, but nothing in red.
Ran a full scan on MBAM - nothing found
Ran a full scan on Spybot - nothing found
Ran a full scan on Pandascan - nothing found
Ran a full scan on CCleaner (cleaning EVERYTHING possible)
Ran a full scan on Spyware Doctor - nothing found
Installed Spyware Blaster
Ran Killbox - nothing found
Checked that nothing fishy is running on Security Task Manager
Checked my Windows startup programs, which are almost all Windows and NVIDIA

Is there anything else I could do?

Well, I am new to VBA, and I just got a macro that runs on active open sheet, then I need to run the same macro, but this time on more than a file/ sheet (actually it's a big number, like 1000+), closed and already saved in a folder. I would pretty appreciate if anyone helps me to add the necessary code ( which will direct the macro to : focus on a specific folder in a specific location (e.g. E:\myfolder) , then run on every excel file in that folder, and to save every file before close , doing that until the last file in that folder .. that's it .. Any help?

Hi there,
I've come home for the weekend and have until around 1pm CST to clean my mother's computer. Until January, she was running Norton. I advised her to drop Norton and she did. Also on my advice, she switched to Avast, but soon after turned off my scheduler. Five months later, it still hadn't made a second run. So we started Avast up and it was running at an ungodly speed (4hrs, 1% completion), but it did pick up 2 infections while it was running. I got sick of waiting and said she might want to switch to Eset since it's fast and that's what I'm using now. She agreed. We uninstalled Avast and her copy of Eset Nod32 finished in about an hour, but found 0 problems. I submitted a HijackThis report yesterday and got batted down, rightfully, went through the required diagnostic tools and got the logs which are attached.

Now, some of the items which were active while I was running HijackThis are possible inactive now, since I removed them from the HLMKEY...Run section of the registry. These executables are:ap9h4qmo
Even though these executables aren't on the Run list anymore, I'd like to make sure they're completely cleaned out. This computer is very slow and viruses and adware are the last thing my mom needs. It's currently running on on 192MB of RAM, so you see the obvious motivation.

Thanks for your attention.

Now, on boot up I now get an error saying that "Active partition not found! Press any key..."  Windows does continue to load after i hit any key but I'm not sure why im getting this error.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

A:Active partition not found

Your Partition Structure is kind of strange. The System Reserved partition is usally on the same disk as the Windows C:\ partition and set as Disk 0. The System Reserved Partition doesn't have a drive letter assigned either.
My guess is you have two BCD's. One in the System Restore Partition and One on another partition. You can use a Windows 7 System Restore Disk and Select Startup Repair.

Seems that you erased your OEM Recovery Partition that is used to reinstall Windows back to the OEM factory Defaults when you ran Active Kill Disk which erases your whole hard drive sector by sector.

You will have to contact HP and see if you can get a OEM HP recovery disk to reinstall Windows. Or go here Looking for Recovery Discs? | HP? Support

Hi Tech Guys,

Have read a few posts with similar prob but not the answer. Have an old Pent 3 desktop - For some time now the network adapter seems to crash.. mid download etc it will fall over.

The problem is if I check internet connection ( thru control panel) all good.. blue.. and active. If i try and repair it , it can't and tells me to contact provider or manufacturer. Lap top is fine so no problem with modem or router.

Usually can fix problem by restarting PC and then it will suddenly detect Adapter which I can check in task Manager. Unfortunatley I have restarted it several times and won't detect adapter... only variable I can detect is from the time we got the Arris modem thru our provider I have often needed to have the ethernet and the USB plugged in for the SURECOM adapter to be detected.. however this confuses the modem.. and randomly crashed our whole system.

Should also add that in Device Manager no yellow ! or probs and when I attempt to update driver it suggests the current drive is the best match... My provider has suggested it may be a hardware prob as in the network card may be dying... do you think this is the likely prob... we are only on 512 speed in the process of upgrading to the new faster speeds here in OZ ... and I am worried the old think might just blow up in protest.. any ideas as to why it will work when I have both USB and ethernet and where the real prob may lie???

Can't thank you enough for this service

Hello, everyone. I'm running Windows XP Professional, SP 3. I started up my computer, i get the error message, "No Active Network Adapters Found" under the Networking tab of the Task Manager, and now I can't get on the internet even though it'll show that I'm connected. The Network Adapters section in the Device Manager isn't reporting any problems.

However, there's also another problem that occurs simultaneously: now, while my computer's booting up, if I keep re-opening the Task Manager, it'll literally take about 5 minutes to populate the "User Name" column under the Processes tab. In addition, if I try looking at My Computer, nothing will appear and the searchlight will come up for these 5 minutes. I'm not sure if this and the network adapter problem are interconnected, but I figured I'd mention this too.

Thanks in advance for any help provided! Please let me know if any other information is needed. Thanks again!

I've copied over the Winsock and Winsock2 from a good working xp machine
I've tried a few freewares from Microsoft website
I tried resotoring tcp/ip settings in safe mode
I ran System repair console form the win xp install cd
Manually try to start tcp/ip service from dev manager and from system services from the control panel

....and nothing! even though the activity lights are blinking like crazy. i'm going crazy pulling my hair out at a loss of what else to do. My last resort is to do a complete format.

Please help

Thank you!

<<...have been havin this problem for a month now..but i always use restore..>>

I guess that I don't know what you mean by "restore." System restore in XP? Restore CDs or partition?

Have you tried simply deleting the listed device...then rebooting and reinstalling the drivers for the system NIC?

System manufacturer and model?

My PC froze up.
On restart it went into the BIOS setup.
I saved and exited the current settings.
The date on the system reset to the build date.
I reset the date and time to now.
I now cannot access the internet.
The supplier says it is a software problem and I need to do a complete reload of XP.
I have had a look online and tried copying back the tcpip.exe file to no avail.
Is there a simple fix which does not require a reload?

Cheers. Andrew.

A:no active network adapters found

If you have a restore point to rollback to, use it.
Otherwise, you could try using SFC(System File Checker), which replaces corrupt system files (I don't know if this applies to the internet settings in question). Start > Run > cmd > Type in sfc /scannow

Previous topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/298866/says-no-virus-protection-found-while-i-have-one-active/ ~ OBI was told to post this here instead of where I had it:On my taskbar, the little red shield with an X through it appears. When I click on it, it tells me under "Malware Protection" that "Windows did not find antivirus software on this computer. I actually have Avira on here, and it is working. Even though it works, it ends up freezing every time I run it, and I can't do anything at all, so I end up having to reboot by holding in the power button. Could someone please help me find out what the problem is? Thank you so much in advance for the assistance.

A:Says "no virus protection found" while I have one active...

Hi,After reading your other topic; I think you are probably fine and this is simply a problem with your anti-virus not communicating with Windows correctly. You can try setting your Windows Security Center service to automatic and this may fix your problem.Start > type services.msc > find the service Security Center > right click > Properties > change the start-up type to AutomaticReboot. need a little help over here. . . i cant connect to the internet . icon on my taskbar did not appear after startup.

at first this started out as an intermittent issue, after restart the internet connection via LAN cable is identified again.

but not this time, i am getting "No active network Adapters Found" on networking tab of task manager.

here's what i've tried doing so far ;

1. did system restore . . *same issues

2. tried my LAN internet with other laptop.. *worked

3. reset Winsock, * same

4. checked device manager window, under network adapters, clicked view
show hidden devices, there are no adapters which are in question or exclamation point on it. . .

* i got one in question under other devices though, and if i expand that, there is ethernet controller which is in question

5. i went under properties of network adapter, then uninstalled the driver,
( for 1394 net adapter, and direct parallel , *system wont allow to do it on the rest ) then restarted pc, ---- * same thing
6. did PING, got reply with 0 loss

7. restarted in safe mode with networking . *same
there nothing more i know of to try... please help. thanks!
system is:

OS : Windows XP pro, 2002, sp2
Anti-virus : got it uninstalled for this
Firewall : disabled

A:No active network adapters found . . .

Sounds like you are missing the drivers for your NIC card. That "ethernet controller" with a ? is the problem.

You need to load the correct drivers for the Ethernet NIC.

I had an external HDD put in as an external HDD, but for some reason it is marked as active (when connected with my normal HDDs windows will not boot), can I make it inactive WITHOUT loosing all the data (It has only my movie collection ripped from DVD on it) nothing else. I only found out the other day when I replaced my PSU with a new one, and windows would not boot until I disconnected it. (after having it connected without a problem for about 2 years).

A:Make an Active drive non-active

In a standard Windows PC, the active partition would be C, or System Reserved if you have that partition. Do you have both of those partitions and is either of them marked "active"?

The active flag has nothing to do with data.

A screen shot of Windows Disk Management would help.

Sorry for the delayed response. The forum has been very busy.

You posted logs from several tools, which were not requested; but not included the Panda active scan report, which you mentioned in the title of your post as having found a downloader.

If you still need help please follow the instructions in IMPORTANT - Read This Before Posting A Log and post the two text files, main.txt and extra.txt produced by the Deckard's System Scanner.

A:the requested look up key was not found in any active activation context

This is a common problem after a repair install for XP.You need to uninstall Internet explorer 7 and if installed IE8 too. Start with IE8 if installed, then uninstall IE7. This gives the method for IE7 you can adapt it to IE8 also.I would suggest to remove your IE7 completely with using following command on the START -> RUN%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exeThis will uninstall IE7 and makes it so that you can reinstall it later. And this works for my PC with the same issue.Hope this helps The trick with IE8 is also the same find the spuninst\spuninst.exe in the /windows/ie8 directory and do it first. Once theyh are uninstalled IE6 should run and you can proceed from there.I have had to do this in the past and getting back to IE6 was the cure.Good LuckRoger

Hello, everyone. I'm running Windows XP Professional, SP 2. I've never had problems getting on the internet, but yesterday, when I started up my computer, i get the error message, "No Active Network Adapters Found" under the Networking tab of the Task Manager, and now I can't get on the internet even though it'll show that I'm connected.

I'm not sure if this and the network adapter problem are interconnected, but I figured I'd metion this too.

Thanks in advance for any help provided! Please let me know if any other information is needed. Thanks again!

After working to remove a worm/virus, my son's PC won't connect to the Internet. He is running WinXP SP3. The machine is a Dell XPS 400. I get this No Active Network Adapters Found message in the networking tab of Task Manager.

When looking in Device Manager, I can see all of the networking 'devices' he has - an on-board Intel PRO/1000 PL connection, a WAN miniport, and the wireless USB adapter that we actually use, a Wireless-N USB Network Adapter. Device Manager shows no exclamation points, or x's in this section.

I've searched all over the 'net, and tried many things, and this forum seems like a good place to ask for help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello JB20,Welcome back to Bleeping Computer First you should know that you're actually doing more harm than good by running 2 Anti Virus programs. (AVG and Norton) When you do this both programs compete for resources, and the end result is neither does it's best and can cause system instability. I recommend that you choose the one you want to keep, update it, disable or uninstall the other one, and use it as an on demand only scan occasionally. Now I'm assuming you're talking about an online Panda scan? We can look if you like, but Panda is notorious for false positives. It detected Avast! as a virus even. Or it could be something in System Restore it's picking up........let's see :Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.htmlhttp://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exeDouble Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. * Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. * The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When disinfection is completed, a log will ope... Bought a used X1 Carbon 6th Gen and am trying to hook it up to a Dell U2711 monitor via a Thunderbolt to DisplayPort adapter. Monitor doesn't receive a signal. Borrowed my roommate's T480 and used the same adapter and it works fine, so I know the monitor and cable aren't the problem. Then I go investigate the Thunderbolt controller on Lenovo's forums and find some other people with the same issue, several replies point to a driver and software update that fixed this. I install the Thunderbolt software is fine. Then I go to install the Firmware, and it says: ---------------------------Thunderbolt(TM) Firmware Update Utility---------------------------No active Thunderbolt(TM) controller found in the systemor Thunderbolt(TM) software is not present in the system.Make sure you have Thunderbolt(TM) software installed. Then connect Thunderbolt(TM) device and press OK to retry or press Cancel to abort firmware update process.Sure enough, I open Device Manager and Thunderbolt isn't even recognized.  Anything else I can try? Keep in mind that both of my Thunderbolt ports do transmit power without an issue via the AC adapter.

I recently became infected with the Virtumonde trojan, and at least one other one simultanously. I have painstakenly rid my system of them over the last couple days, but have the following residual effects

1. Have no Internet. Windows Task Manger / Networking says "No Active Network Adaptors Found". Also, from previous posts, have looked at Device Manager and all Network Adaptors are with yellow exclamation point and have status "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware...."

Clearly the drivers are corrupt or missing.

2. I have not been able to do a system restore, have at least 15 checkpoints but none restore properly. That process was apparently corrupted too. So can't use SR to replace the above drivers.

What is the next step?

Just thought that I would document a situation that seems to occur.

Last night, I got the bright idea to do a repair install of XP Home, for no particular reason. I had a CD (not slipstreamed, acquired with a PC I bought last year) and I thought I'd try it out, rather than using my slipstreamed copy.

In any case, something went wrong and when I finally was able to get my desktop back...I found that IE6 was reflected as my browser and I could not obtain any support/downloads from the MS website. IE seemed to be working OK for other sites, but not at Microsoft.

Turns out that the repair install process had borked the uninstall of IE8, with the result that the IE7 engine was running behind the IE6 browser which appeared to be properly installed. Since several functions depend on the proper functioning of IE, I found that I could not access Help & Support, download anything from the MS website, etc.

The suggested fixes for this are a routine deletion of IE7 (take a look via Google for topic) or a clean install. The routine suggested to remove IE7 wasn't even possible, since I did not have one of the key files suggested as the .exe, it was not in my IE7 folder.

Ultimately, I decided to reverse the reasoning of many...rather than remove IE7 (which wasn't possible), I would install IE8 from the files I maintain (I keep copies of every major program I install, including SPs and browser changes).

Installing IE8 worked, subsequently this system is back online ... Read more

Should I remove it or keep it ?

That is idicative that it is a Procedure Kill utility. Such a utility is NOT malware in
itself but it is flagged because it may be used in a malicious way.
You can leave it, it is not doing any harm.
