Inspiron One 2020 New Motherboard Help

Q: Inspiron One 2020 New Motherboard Help

Greetings & Salmenella
The upper memory slot on the motherboard of my Inspiron One 2020 is beeping known stop , two beep intervals. No matter what memory I put in the beeping continues. It only stops if i have one memory stick in the lower slot.
I need help on verifying the correct motherboard to purchase or if there a different Dell mother board that I can upgrade to that will fit in the case housing. I dont mind if I have to make cuts or small holes on the back plate, since I already made holes for a tuner card I bought after I purchased the model that did not have the openings for the TV cable.
I really dont wanna go buy a brand new computer for a bad 4meg memory slot. I have a solid state , the 8 gigs of ram ,and 2 gigs of ramdisk, it runs fast enough that I dont think about buy a new computer. But losing that 4gigs of ram in the bad memory slot. Holy Ding dongs, the hard drive takes for ever to stop making noise, surfing slows down and compiling and writing visual basic for class takes forever.
Now for the short version.

What is the correct mother board model to replace an Inspiron One 2020 or is there a higher brand model that a mother board will fit my AIO housing and fit all my computer guts. I have a iCore 5 -2390T cpu.

Love,
Stu

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm trying to replace the motherboard in my AIO, Dell Inspiron One 2020. Since I've never done anything like this before, I'm following the User Manual exactly. I just ran into my first problem. The manual simply says "Disconnect all the cables from their connectors on the system board.' Well, that's not been as easy for me as it sounds. I'm hoping someone with prior experience will reply with a tip, trick or suggestion. My problem is I can't get the cables out of the connectors on the motherboard. With the exception of the hard drive and optical drive cables, there's not much to get hold of. I don't see any mechanical catches that need to be released. I assume I should not pull on the wires, just the male connector that is attached to the wires. I assume I should not use tools, but I'm considering the use of needle nose pliers, unless someone can offer me a better suggestion. I hope there's someone out there whose done this before and can offer helpful suggestions. Thanks.

Shelquis,
You just need to sometimes be a little forceful if the cable is stuck. Maybe squeeze the sides of the cable connector when pulling up.
Here are some tools you may need as well.
Phillips screwdriver • Hex nut driver • Plastic scribe

Hey, just wanted to know what the most powerful, compatible processors are for this system (Inspiron one 2020, LGA 1155 socket, System board: 0MTFWP, BIOS A07) I couldn't find any documentation on the processors that are compatible with this version of the bios. Would an I5 or an I7 work with it?

A:Inspiron one 2020 processor upgrade

Hi Charles198

Thanks for writing to us.
The system has been tried and tested with only model of i5 processor. i.e.
I5-2390T
i7 will not work.
But we have come across situations where few of our customers have tried parts that were not tested by Dell, for few it worked like a charm, and for few it was little to no luck.

My hard drive was replaced on Dell Inspiron One 2020 All In One, now when I turn on my computer, I am getting reboot and select proper boot device message. How do I fix this? My computer was originally operating Windows 8 but was upgraded to Windows 10 Professional here just recently. Do you have to reinstall something? I read somewhere you have to have discs but I don't have any discs. I did not receive any recovery discs with my computer and the Windows 10 Pro upgrade was done via online thru Microsoft.

Hi!
I've a DELL INSPIRON ONE 2020 All-In-One PC (purchased on 15th April, 2013). I installed the Insider's Build of Windows 10 x64 about 2 months ago. I wasn't satisfied with it's performance, so I decided to reinstall Windows 8 in it (which came preinstalled as OEM when I purchased the PC). But unfortunately (for me), the DELL BACKUP AND RECOVERY software which I discretely installed in it failed to apply the factory image with error somewhat stating, "DBAR failed to apply the image". Also, the Dell Backup and Recovery is not even available in the Bootup Recovery mode and not even if I press F8 or other function keys. I googled and found methods to apply the image using ImageX tool in boot mode. I put the hotfix KB2525084 (actually the ImageX tool) in my Pendrive and in the recovery mode, I used Command Prompt and typed the follwing command:
j:\imagex /apply f:\DELL\Image\PART0001\EFI.wim 1 c:\
where j:\ is my pendrive ; f:\ was the partition with .wim image in it ; c:\ was the OS path to be recovered.
It completed in just 4 seconds! But other websites stated that it would take around 15-20 minutes to complete applying the image. I understood that something is fishy, and I was right! The PC didn't boot again. Also the apllied image showed just somewhat 250mb of data, but my hard disk (named PBR Image) was of around 9gb in size. The swm files in it (2 in nos.) were around 4gb each. I looked another forum and that stated to format the C:\ drive. I... Read more

Okay, so as the topic title implies, for the life of me, I cannot figure out which motherboard model I'm supposed to get for this Dell Inspiron 1300 here. Only info I have is that it has the Centrino sticker on the palm rest of the case, and I also have the service tag, but that doesn't seem to give me much information from what I've found.

I've taken the motherboard out of the thing and looked it over, but no luck, as I don't see the model number on it.

Will someone please tell me how I'm supposed to figure out the motherboard model number so I can get a new one?

I found an old Dell Inspiron 530a in my house, it was stored because it didn’t work anymore, so I got in the job of restoring it. I found out the problem was the PSU, so I replaced it and it worked fine for about a week but 2 days ago, the computer froze for almost 2 hours, so I turned off the CPU. After that, the computer does not want to boot, I press the power button on the front of the PC, and it remains in an orange light, and in the inside, there is also another orange light in the Motherboard. The fans start very loudly and don’t stop until I unplug the CPU or I turn it off from the power button. I have tried these “solutions” for what I think is the problem:

Removing the Motherboard battery
Removing the RAM
Disconnecting the 24-pin from the motherboard
Disconnecting everything from the PSU
Switching the jumpers near the batteries

I don’t know what the problem might be, but I am almost sure that the PSU is not, since I bought it with a higher capacity than the original PSU and I have done the tests with a jumper in the 24-pin connector
The new PSU is a  “Coolmax V-500 Series 500W 120mm ATX Power Supply” and everything else are original Inspiron 530a parts.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me

Ok, so I think my mobo is shot. After resetting bios I can't get it to boot or even post. I got it to go back into bios setup after resetting it again, but still no post/boot after. Now I can't even get back into bios. Tried both ways to reset and I get nothing. Everything powers on but no video display from via or Hdmi (using onboard gpu). So I am thinking it's time for a new mobo. I would like to get something with more features than the mib75r/mh_sg mlk mb. I want to keep my country and memory. So what are some good boards that have ddr3 slots and support the i5 processor. Also would like to be able to use my wlan card unless the new mobo has something on board already. Obviously it will need to be the same size board because I want to use this tower. Any suggestions?

Okay....I have an Inspiron 620 whose motherboard was fried in an electrical storm. I ordered a replacement motherboard and it is exactly identical with the same model number and appearance.

On installing, it posts as an Optiplex 390. OK, no big deal, except--

The inspiron uses a standard FrontPanel connector and this FP works perfecly, Power switch works, lights come on, system boots.

However, the Optiplex 390 has one difference--the power button for it connects to a proprietary 5-pin connector on the top corner of the motherboard.

The end result is that despite the motherboard working in every way, at boot, the system board reports ALERT: POWER BUTTON CABLE FAILURE.

Of course, this is no surprise since there is not cable attached.

Since the motherboard appear identical, I tried to flash the BIOS to the inspiron 620, but that would not work. I searched the BIOS for a way to suppress the error message. Nothing.  Is there anything I can do to get rid of that message? Short two pins on the 5-pin connector?  Some way to reprogram the board (force BIOS change) to think it is a Inspiron 620?

A:Optiplex 390 motherboard in Inspiron 620

You could buy a used Optiplex 390 front panel switch assembly on eBay for $20, and hide it inside the chassis. That would avoid any potential problems with shorting. Reprogramming the BIOS is something done with special equipment.

Since my Inspiron 560 is overheating when I run more than 2 programs at once and since I have a gaming case which I planned to use once I got all my new equiptment but this problem of overheating came along so I thought of using it with the components from my Inspiron 560. I was wondering, can the components be used on a new motherboard? Before I tried moving the motherboard and all to the new case but that didn't work because the motherboard didn't have the right connectors, I asked around and people said the motherboard was made for the case, this made me think, are the other components made for the case as well?

Im planning on getting a Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 AMD 870 motherboard which fits the job. I think I will have to get a new power supply since it's only 300watts. Also some more RAM since its 533MHz which is sorta awkward

I think most the components will fit (cpu, gpu, hdd drive and card reader) but with people saying the motherboard was made for the case that confused me.

A:Inspiron 560 components on a new motherboard?

well if your technical enough what you could do if the cpu is overheating is remove the cpu and clean the old thermal paste and and re-apply a new thermal paste and see if that fixes your overheating...it will only cost you no more than $20 to ssee if that helps...which in past overheating problems applying new thermal paste fixed the problem for me! its very simple procedure to do

I have an Inspiron 620 (Dell service tag: <Service tag removed>) that won't start Windows 7, and won't install it, either. In either case, it gets to the "Starting Windows" screen, and stops there. For hours, nothing.
I was thinking that the hard drive might be bad, so I opened the case to try a different drive, and saw that the LED1 right beside the SATA plugs is lit bright orange. I suspect that's some sort of error signal, but I can't find any mention of it anywhere in the documentation, or on Dell's site Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello, I recently received a dell inspiron 1564 laptop that was having screen and fan issue's. The screen issue was fixed by removing the fan and cleaning the filter which had half a cat in it !!! This stopped the display going to white screen due to overheating, however the fan problem still remained. The fan would run at start up and run continuously. To try to fix this i checked the dell website for a solution and found a BIOS upgrade that stated to address fan issue's with this model. That's where the fun began. Midway through the upgrade stopped, but not before putting the original bios in back up, another message came on screen to say that battery charging had been disabled, that's when everything froze. After some time mouse function came back and i tried restarting the laptop... As it stands there are no light's with A/C or battery, the power button does nothing, the only way to get life at the moment is to remove the battery hold end and plug in the a/c then release end. This start's the fan and the disk drive, all other external connection's are receiving power but still no life from the power button, lights or screen. Iv'e stripped it down and checked all connection's and there fine.. My main question is that if the motherboard was fried would the external connection's still receive power? I have the attempted bios upgrade on a disk and when it is in the drive it keeps attempting to read it over and over, it will no... Read more

Here's my problem:

Yeah, so I replaced my fan, b/c it was really loud and it was off it's rotar. I opened my Dell Inspiron B130 and replaced it, it was working fine, except for a blue screen that came up, BSOD, but then I restarted it and it was fine. It was running fine, until my computer froze and then I pressed Ctrl +Alt+ Del and then when that didn't work I pressed Fn+standby, thinking it'd fix the problem, but then I ended up pressing the power button and shut down the computer.

Now that I try to turn it on it doesnt turn on at all. The power light and the three lights at the top of the keyboard flash green and nothing happens. I checked everything, all of the connections and everything like 3 times. I'm hoping I didn't screw up my computer.....I really need help with this. I think it's a power problem? And hoping it's not a motherboard problem, b/c it's not turning on at all.

I recently found out that the motherboard is fried.

I just wanted to know if there's anyway for me to fix a dead/fried motherboard, looking at my laptop motherboard, nothing seemed to have blown/been fried. It may have been static electricity, I'm not sure.

Thanks, I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Usual cause is a badly seated component caused when you stripped it down to replace the fan, restrip the laptop and make sure any boards are pushed in correctly and any wiring looms are seated securely.

I do computer repair as a hobby of sorts and I was recently given an inspiron 5720 to work on. After some tinkering I determined that the BIOS chip was bad as if the laptop turns off then it takes repeated attempts to get it to do anything but once the bios loads and you get into windows you are fine. Well the guy pretty much gave it to me because I do so much work for him and I really like it but I soon discovered the empty hard drive bay and how I couldn't use it and why(because the 5720 and 7720 use same chasis). Well now I want the 7720 and the nvidia graphics with the 2nd hard drive and I was wondering if I could buy a 7720 motherboard and put it in my 5720 case. Can I do it? Will it just 'slide right in' or will there be some unforseen problems? Has anyone atteppted this? Any info would be appreciated.

I'm glad someone finally posted this info. I am in the process of sending back my first 7720 board because it would not start in my 5720. I was hoping and pretty sure it is a bad 7720 board. Now I'm almost positive. Did you ever get the 3D board or 3D working? I'm wondering if it will fly on the 5720 screen because there is a difference. Any other advice e?? I've only got a i3 2.4 chip, but I think that should work for now. Anyway thanks for the info and any update would be great. <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>

I just rebuilt a Dell Inspiron 570 computer, I replaced it with an identical motherboard. I have the keyboard, mouse, and monitor plugged in. When I turn it on, the power LED turns blue like normal and the CD drive, fans, hard drive and everything turns on to, but nothing displays on the monitor. I don't hear any error beeps at all so I can't figure out why it won't display anything to the monitor. I have tested it on multiple monitors and none of them will display anything. Any suggestions?
Also I don't have an OS installed on the computer yet.

It's a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop (2 years old this month)

Here's the symptoms:
ethernet port will not respond (have tried different cables but all come up as unplgged)
speakers will not work, when headphones plugged in sound will work, though.
Has intermitently uninstalled Windows Media Player
iTunes lost driver to charge iPod and said it needed to reinstall iTunes but will not let me reinstall program
Refuses to fully download some of the updates it needs

My IT at school said it sounds like motherboard. Does that sound right? Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I was given an Inspiron 620 tower that won't boot.  There's no light of any kind associated with the power button on the front of the case, but the amber light on the motherboard (near the SATA ports) blinks.  The power supply tests OK, so I'm wondering if  the problem is likely to be anything fixable besides it being a bad board.
Any ideas?

It's just about 100% certainly a bad system board -- not much repairable about these.

I own a Dell Inspiron 7000 PII processor. There is something clearly wrong with the motherboard and I need to replace it. Since I just got a new computer I'm interested in doing this my self. However, I have never done this type of work on a computer. Is there any place I can go to get a manual to repairing/replacing the motherboard? Is there any soddering involved for this type of laptop (it seems like most parts are snapped/clipped or scewed in)? any info/insight would be helpful.

Here you go: http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?cat=sup&s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=Dell+Inspiron+7000&x=5&y=8

You probably want the General Disassembly doc which is about halfway down the list.

Back in November of 2015, I purchased 2 Dell Inspiron 15 5552 laptops for my twin daughters for Christmas.
In July of 2016, one of my daughter's laptops died and would beep 7 times (what the internet likes to call the 7 beeps of death).  After getting in touch with customer service they determined it was a motherboard failure and had me send in the laptop for repair.  The laptop was returned a couple of weeks later with a new motherboard and a new power supply and all has been fine until last week.
Last week, less than a year after the motherboard replacement/repair and of course 6 months after the warranty has expired, the same laptop has once again had a motherboard failure.  I called Dell's out of warranty repair service and they want over $270.00 to repair the laptop which is more than what I actually paid for the thing in the first place!  Not to mention that if i get it repaired, they will only warranty the repair for 90 days!
Now my husband and I have been loyal Dell customers for over 10 years and this is the 6th computer we've purchased from them and I need to be honest, this is the last time I will ever purchase another Dell computer.  In my opinion, this is a design flaw and I just want to make everyone aware that Dell's quality has gone down the drain.
