Default Settings for 'Choose File To Upload' Window, Window displays 'Details' vs 'Th

Q: Default Settings for 'Choose File To Upload' Window, Window displays 'Details' vs 'Th

Whenever I add an attachment to my emails, and even here on your website when I uploaded the attached pics, the 'Choose to Upload' pop-up window containing (in this case) my pics ALWAYS (but never used to) opens in the Details mode instead of Thumbnails where I can actually view the pics to be attached prior to attaching them.
I would like the default setting for this occurrence to obviously be in the Thumbnails mode.

In a related issue I would also like to be able to load more than one pic at a time when attaching pics to emails, etc...
Is there such a setting?

Thanks for the assistance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Default Settings for 'Choose File To Upload', Displays 'Details' vs 'Thumbnails'

The default is list, not details and no you can't change it that I know of and I'm pretty sure if not absolutely. I wish there was. One of those silly Windows things.
As to your second question, some websites employ technology that allows multiple uploads. The flash uploader here for instance. It's not something in XP that one can change.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. I.m guessing that what you mean is with Windows Explorer open when you click on a file the details pane is missing. If so Click on "View" then "Choose Details" and check the appropriate boxes.

I'm not sure how this could be possible, so I'd appreciate if someone suggested what's going on?

On my Windows 7 desktop when I open the "Choose File To Upload" dialog window from IE9 and navigate to my desktop, I see there a ZIP file listed (see attached), but when I go to the actual desktop I don't see that file there. Further more, when I try to cut that file from the "Choose File To Upload" dialog and paste it somewhere else I get the message telling me that "Item Not Found" (see attached).

A:File can be seen only through the upload window in IE

First, please fill out your system specs using the info for the computer that has this problem.

This tutorial might help: System Info - See Your System Specs

Please include these two items in your system spec info:

1) the version of the browser that you are using
(IE8, IE9, IE10) 32bit or 64bit <<< see task manager

2) the anti-virus tool you are using

~~~~~~~~~
3) Are you logged on using a account with admin rights?
4) Is the UAC turned on?
Please show all folders/files:
5) Can you see the zip file of interest if you open the Windows (file) Explorer to this location?
C:\Users\Public\Desktop
6) If not, then can you see it in this location?
C:\Users\username\Desktop
We can save these for later:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check
Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log
Hello,
I am not sure which version of IE I have. I am on Windows 7 home 32 bit, and I have done all of my windows updates, if that gives any aid in determining what version I have.
When I try to upload files and the Choose Which File to Upload window pops up, it displays in Tile format. I want it in List format, and I change it every time. For whatever reason, it won't save this as default. Is there a way to do so?
Also, I turned on auto complete to help me streamline repetitive entries into a content manager, but it has not been doing any suggesting. Does it take some time before it starts to do that? (I do have it set to complete forms)
Thank you
Hello,
For a few months, I have been having a strange and irritating problem with my computer. Whenever I try to upload a file using any browser or outlook, etc., the file upload window freezes, goes "not responding", and eventually the entire program crashes. This only happens when I navigate the window to "desktop" (that is, to upload a file from my desktop) but since desktop is the default location that opens when I hit "browse" in any of my browers, this means I cannot upload files at all from my browsers. I have been working around this by using outlook to upload files (which defaults to "documents"), and making sure not to navigate to desktop, or by uploading files to websites where I can drag them, rather than navigate to the file upload window.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks,
Jacob
A:File Upload Window Hangs
I don't quite understand what your problem is !  I have tried to replicate it and can't. Using Firefox 23 and IE 8 I cannot find any control to upload a file anywhere. 'File open' in both works quite normally. In IE 8, you get an 'Open file' dialogue box where, even if the start point is my desktop, it doesn't crash the browser. In Firefox, 'File open' takes you to wherever you last opened a file, and even if I navigate to my desktop and open one of the two - very temporary - files sitting there, again, the browser doesn't crash.
I wil admit I only know of two ways of uploading files - attaching them to an e-mail, or using some form of FTP software. I will also admit that I have had occasional problems with both of these methods but I cannot remember crashing a browser trying to attach a file to an e-mail.
Can you come back with a sequence of the commands that are creating this problem ?  I'll have another go at trying to recreate it.
This is a case where I had one problem and in my attempts to fix it I stupidly made it much worse.
The original problem was that almost every day and some times multiple times per day I would get a blue screen of death which would cause my computer to restart. It had something to do with my video card, I believe it was BCCode: 116. I checked my video card drivers and they were up to date.
Then I made a dumb move. I went to the BIOs and changed it to the "optimized default". I figured switching things to default might help but it led to a bigger problem. I was stupid and didn't keep track of what the settings where previously. I didn't imagine that changing them to default would cause any problems but boy was I wrong.
I get this message when I try to start the computer:
It only gives me two options "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)" and "Start Windows Normally". If I try to start windows normally is fails and takes me back to this same message, so my only option is to repair.
I select repair and it runs. But it fails and gives me this message:
What I have tried:
I tried doing a system restore point, the most recent restore point give me this message.
So I tried the second most recent and it looks like it works at first....
But once the computer restarts I'm back at the "Window's failed to start" screen. I also tried the 3rd most recent restore point with the same effect.
I also tried ... Read more
I have seen a few threads similar to this problem on this forum and I believe I have tried all the possible solutions that I've seen, but the problem persists.
On my co-worker's PC (Win7 Pro, 64-bit, SP1), when he uses Internet Explorer to upload image files to a website, the "Choose File to Upload" dialog always opens in detail view. He'll switch to large thumbnails, look for the file he needs to upload, upload it, and then move on to the next upload (this particular website only lets you upload one file at a time, unfortunately), and the dialog resets to detail view. This is incredibly frustrating for him, especially because I don't have this problem on my (identical) PC.
I've gone through all the folder view settings and painstakingly checked all the Internet Options looking for what might be different between our two systems, and I'm coming up dry. I have tried messing with the registry, doing a System Restore or two, downgrading him from IE11 (which we were both using) to IE10, and it keeps happening.
This doesn't happen in Chrome, but unfortunately the one website we have to use is one of those "Designed for IE, not supported in any other browser" sites (ARGH).
Is there anything I'm not thinking of that could be causing this? His PC is brand-new (A Dell, like all of ours) from just a couple of months ago. He doesn't have any malware that I've been able to spot, and is not an Administrator on the computer (the problem also exists when ... Read more
Howdy guys,
When I open a save-as dialogue windows (from any type of file - txt document, image, etc.), the file view always defaults to List, sorted by name. I don't like it so I right-click in the file manager window and choose my preference (usually Details, sorted by Type). Problem is, it doesn't stick - the next time I open a save-as dialogue, files are back in List, sorted by Name view. I did use the tools>folder options>view>apply to all folders but obviously it doesn't work for the file manager windows. (Actually, same goes for any file manager dialogue window no matter whether the action is Save As, Browse for upload, etc). Interesting thing is, at some point settings DOES stick and are remembered, but I've never managed to understand what's the trick and thus I have to deal with this on every fresh installation of Windows XP Pro (which is what I use). Any ideas? Registry entry concerning these settings are also a solution, if anyone knows where are these settings stored.
PS: It seems it's not only me having this issue:
Hey guys quick question. On Windows 8.1 for some time now I have found that the upload window is super slow to respond. I upload/download files often for work, typically recently saved documents. Problem I have is that when I go to upload the file to email, the window defaults to sorting files by file name. I am unable to sort it by most recent for at least a minute, sometimes just a little less. After I have uploaded a few files I am able to sort by date. Otherwise I have to scroll down are type in the first few letters of the file name.
I am using G-Mail on Google Chrome, and at first assumed this was Chrome issue. I also tried on Opera, and found the window does the same thing...so it's definitely a Windows thing. Any ideas on how to get my window sorted by date either by default or at least quicker....?
Knowing that vbscript cannot create Msgbox with scrollbars I have been trying to get round this by using HTA but with only partial success. The script I have is not mine but I have modified it slightly. The problem is that although it does produce a window with scrollbars text is displayed in the window as a continuous string with all paragraph formatting ignored.
I have tried to resolve this using ReadLine rather than ReadAll but it makes no difference yet I was sure that ReadLine automatically incorporates a VBCrLf at the end of every line. The other oddity is that wscript.echo does not work. AN error is produced requiring an "object". When that is provided, the subsequent error is that Echo is not supported. I am guessing here that this is down this being run as an HTA file not a vbscript one. If anyone can enlighten me on that and knows how to retain the original file text formatting I would be grateful if they could let me know.
Normally Windows is indeed supposed to store these settings, there just one question: What icons/lists are you talking about inside Internet Explorer? Ir it an FTP or something like that you connect to where it isn't saved?
Otherwise just Open IE > Set it up the way you want it.
Choose File > Exit. Just to make sure it saves the settings.
I'm trying to figure out how to set the settings of a file upload dialog so it will alwasy display the objects (images in this case) as large icons or thumbnails instead of in the list view. The file upload is for uploading images to a web site and it's irritating to have to keep clicking on the folder view options and set it every time.
Since this is a file upload dialog and the <alt> key doesn't offer the standard explorer menu items I don't know how to set this. Also, I've tried to change the default settings for all folders but it doesn't change the settings on the file upload dialog.
Any tips would be appreciated!
Thanks
Recently, my company started working with a company where they wanted to redirect from an internal Intranet Kiosk site to a publicly available application site. The site apparently (due to lack of something) does NOT have the ability to remove any File Upload
links when coming from the Kiosk URL.  The Kiosk computers are running Windows 7 Pro with various GPOs and registry keys locking them down to using Internet Explorer in Kiosk mode replacing the explorer.exe on the user account. The problem is we have
not been able to find a way to Disable "Choose File to Upload" dialogs in Internet Explorer 11. This seems like it should be a pretty straight forward option as you can disable File Downloads using GPOs but apparently disabling File Uploads isn't
something commonly done.
A number of blocks are in place, but there is always the fun the user could have of uploading files by using their Environmental Variables (Example: %WINDIR%\win.ini) that we would like to avoid.  In fact, I'd like to avoid any dialog to avoid any issues
with seeing Libraries or Desktop folder paths.
Given Kiosk Mode for Internet Explorer has been an age old feature, I'm amazed disabling "File Upload" isn't some default option when you set in Kiosk Mode.
Please assist!  Thanks!
At my employer I work off a remote connection and answer phones and in between calls I work on the internet doing research for various things. I currently use the new IE7 on Windows XP. So far I really enjoy it, but there is one thing that is driving me crazy.
I may have trouble explaining this, but I hope someone can help. Often times i'll be on a page, click a link or try to load a new page then i'll get a call and have to click to move to my remote server. Now as i'm trying to answer my call and enter information, that loading webpage constantly pops up as it's loading. It makes it near impossible to do anything outside of just wait for that webpage to finish. Then even after it's finished loading it will pop up to I suppose let you know it's up. Whatever it is, it's driving me crazy. Let me know if I explained this correctly and if anyone can help. I've looked all over the setup to see if it's just an option I have to disable but have been unable to find anything.
When I'm surfing the internet and I click on a link, the new window doesn't appear over my current window. Instead, I get a new, blue title bar, and I have to click on the maximize button to see the new window. Why can't I click on a link and immediately see the new page? I never used to have this problem. (I just installed Windows XP.)
When I'm reading a message in Outlook Express and I click on a link, the same thing happens...I need an extra click to maximize the new window.
