USB-C PowerDelivery PowerBank (X1 Yoga 2nd Gen)

Q: USB-C PowerDelivery PowerBank (X1 Yoga 2nd Gen)

Why is it not possible to charge the notebook battery with 30W @ 20V?Why only 45 W and 65 W @ 20 V? I wanted to use this PowerBank with PD support "Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh Powerbank with Power Delivery" but only 30W @20V Output. So at the moment it doesn't work if the notebook is on. On standby it works and charges the battery with 30W. Why only when the notebook is off or in standby??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I got and AUKEY PB-XD20 with USB PD (Power Delivery) 12V 1,5A - 18W.When I connect it to my yoga it charges it for few seconds than disconnects. Repeating the cycle over and over. The thing is - when I turned Yoga off and leave it connected to this power bank time the % of the battery is going up.When Yoga is up, after few cycles it gets crazy and hangs - forcing me to restart it. Can someone at Lenovo take a look into it and allow to charge it with some lower wattage while off? I do not want to break anything, but this cycle is probably worse than constant power delivery.

Hi,  I have the Yoga S940 and need to purchase a power bank to charge while I travel. Is anyone able to help and tell me whether either of the two below power banks will work? I think I would prefer the larger capacity but only charges at 30W while the smaller capacity power bank charges at 45W. However, obviously if I need the 45W then so be it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/PD-Power-Bank-RAVPower-USB-Black/dp/B06XTMK9H2?SubscriptionId=AKIAIR4KYOS5H... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QKK441Y/ref=as_li_ss_tl?language=en_US&ie=UTF8&linkCode=gs4&linkId=19... Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Hello,

recently bought a T470s, very happy with it so far. Tried out USB Type-C charging from my powerbank and it doesn't react. Is it the cable, the power bank or is it possible to charge through powerbank at all?

Powerbank 10000 mAh, 3.6 V, 36 Wh
Input 5.0 V/2.0 A
Output 5.1 V/2.1 A

Cable - random 2$ Male USB 2.0 - Male Type-C adapter

PS. If it's not possible to charge via powerbank, why would you give it a type-C port at all... Nobody is ever gonna use it for type-C AC power adapter, cause the port is on the right hand side... *palmface*

A:T470s USB Type-C charging via powerbank?

USB-C supports many voltages and there is a protocol for the power supply and the device to negotiate the requirements.  You have a laptop that needs 20V and a power bank that only outputs 5 volts.  If you look at your charger that came with your laptop, it can output 5V for your phone or 20V for your laptop.  (also 9V and 15V)  You need a better or smarter powerbank

Hi,

I am planning on buying a portable wall charger/powerbank and I just want to make sure it won't reduce my phone's battery life in the long run. The phone I have is a BLU Energy XL, which came with a 9V/2A charger that plugs into the wall. However, the powerbank that I am most interested in provides 5V/4.8 or 5V/3.0A (or Qualcomm 3.0, which I am actually not sure about the tech specs) and most powerbanks in general I believe provide something like 5V maximum from USB type ports. In looking up some articles, I discovered that one should try to match the voltage of a replacement power supply (in this case, analogous to my powerbank) to the original power supply because otherwise this may impact the battery's lifetime. Is that true?

In general for my knowledge, how does one convert between something like 9V/2A and 5V/3A in terms of the impact it has on a battery? I can kind of conceptually understand the impact that current has in that it really sets an upper limit for the Amps that a power supply can find and the higher the amps for a given voltage, the faster a device will charge. Not really sure about the impact of voltage? Can one just compare the power of the different chargers like 9*2= 16 watts vs 5*3=15 watts?

Thanks in advance!!

Like stated in the description. the Lenovo Yoga Control Service require 3% out of the CPU, all the time. and the only thing the service does is checking the orientation of the screen, and disable keyboard and mouse when flipped. This is absurd, especially since it drains battery constantly. I hope that this will be fixed eventually, until that time, I will turn the service off and use the computer like a regular laptop.

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga (1st gen as a Yoga; 4th gen as a Carbon), Product 20FQCTO1WW. Starting two days ago, it randomly reboots. The event log shows that it has had an unexpected reboot ("The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."), but reading the events leading up to the reboot doesn't give me much of a clue as to why. The only interesting events are messages that a core of the CPU is being throttled ("The speed of processor X in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report."). I took the bottom cover off and agressively blew compressed air in every crevice. This did remove some dust buildup, but the system wasn't as dirty as I expected. In fact, it looked pretty clean. I also vaccuumed. And I removed the fan and thermal heatsink and throughly blew compressed air through it and made sure that there was no gunk clogging the heatsink air fins. After reassembling, it seems to be slightly more stable, but it has still rebooted a few times. There are lots of threads where people complain about fan noise and ask how they can reduce the speed of their fan. I'd like to run mine at max 100% of the time (noise be darned) for a few days just to see if that keeps the system from randomly rebooting. However, I don't know of a sofware setting where I can control... Read more

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

Left: Yoga 920 in Bronze. Right: Yoga 910 in Silver

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

The lenovo pen is working fine on this section of screen. Facing same issue in tablet mode also. I don't think this is software issue, maybe the connection at the  hinge got screwed up. The laptop is still under warranty. All the Drivers are up to date. Can I get a replacement if I go to service center or is this a software issue which can be solved ?

Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

Hello all, Got my X1Y3 in a few days ago and I'm very pleased with the screen on the machine as well as battery life and easy type c charging compared to my old X1Y1. However, I have noticed one thing, the audio options (sample rate and bit depth) are about as basic as can be on the X1Y3 compared to my X1Y1. Anyone else notice this or do I perhaps have something limited by my audio settings? I tried looking up the spec sheet for this machine and see nothing mentioned, but looking under sound options in the control panel the max I can do is 24bit/48Khz, the only other option is 16bit/48Khz. Recording only has a signle option of 16bit/48Khz. If this is by design, I'm really disappointed in taking the hit to adio quality from one generation to the next.  For example, my original X1Y1 can do 24bit/192Khz at the maximum for playback and 24bit/96Khz for recording. Software is fully up to date through vantage, and I just installed the october update (much to my reluctance since I had to hit the update button to do it and risk the wrath of the microsoft insider program).  Thr PSREF spec sheets on lenovos website for the Y1Y3 list the chich as Realtek ALC3286, but no specs for bit depth or sampling rate for the machine. Additionally, I can't find any information on this chip online besides sellers inadvertently listing it in thier specs for X1Y3s for sale. It sounds like I might be resigned to carrying around a highres dac or end up praying for LDAC ... Hello! We have a Lenovo Yoga 370 20JJS3JP00 which has a wrong Embedded Controller Firmware. The BIOS Firmware is correct but the EC Firmware (N1GHT44W 1.21) belongs to a Lenovo Yoga 260. We already tried every other BIOS for the Yoga 370, but the EC Firmare won't change. Also we tried to cold reset the EC and reset the BIOS but without any success.Do you have any suggestions what we could do to resolve this issue?Thank you very much!
