SharePoint 2013 Out of the box Web-part Connection Issue

Q: SharePoint 2013 Out of the box Web-part Connection Issue

There was a issue in Internet Explore when I am trying to give the connection from source webpart to destination webpart in sharepoint 2013 webpart page and I tried to debug
the error in Developer tools it gives the error like "XPathResult is Undefined". Source Webpart
is Sharepoint 2013 Calendar list and Destination webpart is Sharepoint 2013 Custom List.
We have tried all version if IE in different machine like windows 7 and 10 also but no luck and its working fine in other browsers other than IE.

Kindly let me know if you have any suggestions or any clue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use SharePoint 2010 and 2013 and need Designer for both versions. 2010 has installed fine, but 2013 gets almost all the way through the install then unhelpfully just says "Microsoft SharePoint Designer encountered an error during setup" and no further details given. I'm running Office 32-bit on a 64-bit machine. The issues have been with the 32-bit version. I know that with the rest of Office being 32-bit I need to stick with that, but any ideas on how to troubleshoot the install? Thanks!

A:SharePoint Designer 2013 install issue

That's very interesting. I can certainly pass that on to the server team. I don't have Admin rights on my machine. The strange thing is the previous person who used this computer had no issues with running both versions (prior to the machine being wiped for me) which makes it all the more surprising that there'd be an issue.

hey guys I was a little confused if this was the right place 'all other applications'
So I have extremely limited experience with Sharepoint 2013.
But my boss asked me today if I could just 'check out' what possibilities we might have with sharepoint 2013.
Regarding two things.
1: We have documentation spread all over our 'older sharepoint' and 3 other purchased systems..
this documentation is everything from firewall logs, to password lists, IP lists, printer manuals, etc etc.
2: We have our own constructed Wiki, in reality we have 600 documents in a folder.
like: "How to get rid of this virus" "How to push our security out on iphones" articles to help us in the IT department.
We have an Active Directory and Exchange user setup.
So lets say you wanted to sort all this out, and have it placed in one spot.
with easy search functions, and of course the possibility to limit users as only our Admin accounts from the AD should
be allowed to view the password lists.

Not knowing anything about sharepoint 2013, could you maybe point me in a direction towards something that might be suitable?
also if you plan on suggesting alternatives, let me make it clear we don't wish this to be online, no cloud services

I am experiencing a issue with the IE11 browser specifically when trying to select from the address book/people picker within SharePoint 2013 and it is not bringing
up the people pick box to select a user from. When I click on the address book it does nothing at all. The people picker is not working in IE, but working on my Chrome browser just fine so that made me believe it could possibly be a browser issue. I am trying
to find a fix as majority of the users at my company use IE v11, so I was researching what could possibly be causing this for this browser only and being it is a sporadic occurrence.

I have tried setting the sharepoint.com site within the 'Compatibility View Settings', and also modified the custom level security zone and cleared my cache. And
nothing is seem to be helping me resolve this issue.

Any help would be appreciated in advance!

Not sure what I did but I recently modified a document on our SharePoint and saved it locally. Now when I open that master document on SharePoint it opens the one I saved locally a while back and asks if I want to update the server. I've searched on various forums for a fix for this but have yet to find a solution.

How can I open these master documents on sharepoint without having it ask to update the server. I'd hate to accidentally save over the master document.

I'm using MS Office 2013, and SharePoint 2010.

We just upgraded to Office 2013. Since the upgrade some users are unable to edit Office documents that they open through SharePoint. I can see that the documents are opened as read only. Even if they select to edit the document in SharePoint it throws up an alert saying that they don't have permissions to edit the document.

I checked all permissions and they appear to be OK. Is there any setting in Office 2013 that is maybe defaulted to read only or something?

One of my customer has extended windows-claims based Sp2013 web application to Internet. SO I have 2 urls - Http for intranet and https for internet
They have extended internet facing site using ADFS authentication
When a user logs in via the internet facing site, even if the windows claims identity is added in owners group, the internet facing site returns a blank screen post authentication ..
However if a claims identity is added, it works.
Is this expected behavior?
There are multiple claims created - SID, email, first name. When users try to add people, they are unable to find the windows accounts on the internet facing site. This is leading to adding duplicate accounts in the site(one -windows other claims)

Any suggestions?

Hi Everyone,
We are getting an error with Adobe Reader DC when trying to open or save files to Sharepoint 2013.
An Error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 42
Char: 5
Error: Unable to get property 'empty' of undefined or null reference
Code: 0
URL: domain.com/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?diagview=FileOpen&FIledialogFilterValue=*-pdf&location=filepath
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?  Yes/No
Whatever option we press (yes/no) the error will not go away.

This happens in the open or save window that opens within Adobe Reader DC version 2015.010.20056
At this stage more than 1 Windows 8.1 Pro 64 systems are affected, and some of the same version systems are not affected.
I can confirm that the open/save window on Office products (2013 word, Outlook and Excel) work fine and are not affected, it just seems to be Adobe Reader DC.
Please let us know how we might fix this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

I have some data in a SharePoint 2010 list. I can export the data to Excel 2010 but in order to use the SUBTOTAL function I have to convert the data to a range, which severs the data connection. Ultimately users will need to add more data (via a SP form) so I don't just want the data in Excel.

Is there a way around this? I couldn't see a way to achieve the same subtotaling function within the SharePoint list. If I start with the data in Excel (including my subtotals) and then export it to a new SP list, will it maintain the data connection, and will users be able to add new data and it continue to update the subtotals?

A:Need Excel subtotals + SharePoint data connection

There are 'calculated' columns in sharepoint. You may be able to able to add one to your list to provide subtotals.I'm not sure. I do some high level support on share point and its hard for people to understand that SharePoint is not Exel or Access. I have pointed(linked) Access to to SharePoint list and provided totals and other reports from access (much prettier reports than excel) rather than fight SharePoint.

In my company they have several 3rd party SharePoint addins (NTech is one I think its called) that makes things easier for SP developers.

If I am using Microsoft Edge to access a SharePoint site and I want to "upload" a document the first upload works as expected.  Now if I attempt to upload the second document the selected file will not get adopted from the browse button.
The field remains greyed out.  Logging out and logging back in has no effect.  Only one document can be loaded.  Using an alternate product such as Firefox I can add documents without issue.  I would prefer not have to bounce between browsers
is there a fix in Edge for this issue?

I am in the process of assisting some users in switching from Win XP/Office 2003 -> Win 7/Office 2010 and have hit a roadblock. I have a user that has an excel macro that opens an ADO connection to a SharePoint and grabs a record of the excel files on the SharePoint. The macro works perfectly on XP/2003 and XP/2010 but fails on 7/2010.
They are using this connection line:

davDir.Open "", "URL=http://SharePoint/Directory/URL", _
adModeRead, adFailIfNotExists, adDelayFetchStream

Set davFiles = davDir.GetChildren()
Once they have the record they iterate through each Excel file on the SharePoint to open and parse them.

On Win7/2010 I get these errors when it gets to the davDir.Open line:

When they error trap it throws this error:

Object or data matching the name, range, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this operation.

Without error trapping it throws this error:

Run-time error '-2147217895 (80040e19):Automation error

I can connect to the SharePoint fine via IE or File/Open in Excel 2010. I have tried every variation of the URL I can and I just keep getting the same error.

Does anyone have any ideas? The fact it works on XP/2010 screams Win 7 issue to me, but beyond that I am lost. I have spent the last 2 days scouring Google and I am starting to lose my mind.

A:Excel 2010 WebDav Connection to SharePoint Errors

I've had just this problem and have narrowed it down to making the connection. The following code produces the same error on SP 2007 from Win 7:

Dim Conn As New ADODB.Connection
sURL = "http://sharepointtest2/personal/kraviss/Test docs/ACT Contracts Data" RepositoryRepository"
Conn.Open "URL=" & sURL

I've found WebDav to be most unreliable when uploading files to SP doc libraries and a little less unreliable when reading properties. I use the Frontpage Server extensions to do most uploading. FilesystemObject calls work most of the time to get file and folder properties - the following code fragment will get folder contents. sFolder is the UNC path for the SP doc library

Dim objFSO as New Scripting.filesystemobject
Dim objFolder as Scripting.Folder
Dim colFiles as Scripting.Files
Dim colFolders as Scripting.Folders

sFolder = "\\sharepointtest2\personal\kraviss\Test docs\ACT Contracts Data"
set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(sFolder)
set colFiles = objFolder.Files
set colFolders = objFolder.Subfolders

This will need a reference to Microsoft Scripting Runtime scrrun.dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64

We recently added SSL to one of our Sharepoint sites and that seems to be working (although it prompts username and password everytime you try opening a shared document in its library) but the real issue is this: SharePoint Central Administration v3 no longer works.

When SSL and the certificate was configured to another already existing Sharepoint site, I made an edit to the default zones for the sites under Alternate Access Mappings. I changed the http://sharepointsite to https://sharepointsite. Once the alternate access mapping was completed, I rebooted the server. Now while the sharepoint site works, everytime I try accessing the central administration site (whether locally on the server that the IIS pages are running or from a remote workstation) through Internet Explorer, I get 'This program cannot display the webpage' message.

I've tried iisreset, adding an SSL certificate to the central administration site through IIS, rebooting the server again, and tried to use the server's IP for the IP address under Web site identification for Sharepoint Central Administration v3 properties (in IIS). I did not make any changes to this web site prior to it just not working suddenly. I simply added the SSL cert to the regular sharepoint site, changed the http to https under Alternate Access Mapping (the last time I was able to use sharepoint central administration), then rebooted the server.

How can I get Sharepoint Central Administration page to work again?

FNG here. I'm using Win 7, full RC, 32 bit. This problem happens on any machine and happened in Vista 32 bit as well.

I host our SharePoint server externally at Apptix and I am unable to map a network location to show up in Explorer. I'm not technical enough to know if this is a WebDAV issue or what. I have done tons of web searches when we had this problem initially with Vista 2 years ago. The solution was to download KB907306 and it worked in Vista. Ok, I can accept that Vista and SharePoint development may have been out of synch at some point, but why the (insert multiple explicatives) hasn't Microsoft fixed this in Win 7? I'm not the only person in the world who hosts SharePoint and wants to view folders in Explorer. Is my hosting company the only one configured like this?

Our SP address is in the form of hostingcompany.com

That being said (whew, I feel better), I tried to install KB907306 in Win 7 and I can now attach the location. I can see it on the left side of Explorer (folder view?) and in the main section. I can expand the left side to see the sub folders (I am prompted for my credentials), BUT, the contents of the folders never update the main window. I never see the files I want to see.

Oh, I also had the nightmare Outlook 2007 / hosted Exchange server config issue. I got around that one. Both our Exchange and SP servers are hosted by Apptix.

A:Network location for hosted SharePoint / WebDAV issue

The correct way to set up and use WebDAV in Windows 7 takes some steps. After you have figured it out, it works fast and even better than in Windows XP (at least for me it does).

Follow these steps:

1. Start -> Run -> Services.msc
2. Start your Webclient service. Set the properties so it will start automatically next time you boot Windows 7

For shortcuts to your folders or files:

1. Rightclick anywhere on your desktop and choose 'new shortcut'
2. Use this format for WebDAV folders: \\[email protected]\rootwebdavfolder\path\to\folder. For example, mine looks like this: \\[email protected]\livelinkdav\nodes\1758347

Your shortcurt will be created and you wuill have direct access to your webdav folder using Windows 7. If you don't know the correct path, browse to your webdav folder using Windows XP and look at the address and use this in your above shortcut.

Now for the fun part

You can actually map networkdrives to webdav locations. To do so use this:

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Rightclick on 'Computer'
3. Go to 'map network drive'
4. Choose station/drive letter
5. Use this link to your WebDAV location: \\[email protected]\rootwebdavfolder\path\to\folder
6. Press OK and your set.

The nice part of mapping your networkdrive is that you can use it for synchronisation (online/offline files).

I have skipped Windows Vista so I don't know if this would have worked under Vista. Also I use the Dutch version of Windows 7 so the terms I used a... Read more

On 7/3/2001, I posted my problem and Bryan and Skyman commented on what techsupport told me. Problem improved a bit till today. Called the phone co., who had supervisor with infoave call me. Has me right click on "my computer", left click on "properties", left click on "performance". Indicates 60% available resources. Supervisor says I need at least 80% and can get rid of some programs "running in the background" or get more RAM. Freely confess to being at the low end of the learning curve. Is he correct? You may be able to stop them loading up in the actual programs.

They will be available in Programs should you ever need them.

I am networking illiterate and don't know if this is even possible. I tether my phone to my main computer then share the internet connection with a router. Is it possible to make the tethered computer and the computers on the router part of the SAME network?

A:Make shared connection part of network

Not really. you create TWO Internet connections using that cellphone and depending upon which connection is created first
(the router->ISP vs cell->Cell Carrier) the first one will dominate all traffic due to the use of the default route in the routing table in the pc. I would think that only the Cell phone usage would send traffic via the cell carrier.

Does this happen on a fresh install of Project 2013? Meaning if you install Project 2013 on a PC that didn't have Project 2010, does the issue still happen?

I have been digging for a good part of a few hours and found this:

It seem every time I create a new shortcut or link it associates it with Firefox and when clicked on open Firefox.

How do I change this to tell the system to execute the chosen program. I read the help file for associating file types - I can't leave any blank or delete any so I am unclear what I should changes this to to insure that when I click on a desktop or other icon that it actually opens the program and not Firefox all the time

hope you guys dont mind a new thread, but I solved allot of problems I was having with XP, first off I reformatted, Fat32, installed win98se, then partition magic and boot magic, then in partition magic made a new primary, and loaded XP Pro, now it seems that the xp pro works great!....lets me choose what OS I want at start up... and when I boot into XP, the OS is working great except for slow internet...all those problems I had with not being able to see CD-ROMS are gone, and the problems saving to A:\ [floppy] are gone....

well allot of problems I was having are all set, I am not sure if they were because of NTFS [maybe not] but man it is so nice to have my XP running the way it should.

I still have to use win office 2000 to communicate with Novell 5.1, but no problem..

Thanks to all that put up with my XP problems. A good old reformat took care of most,... lol...

Hi there,

My last thread, "Vista Wireless Connection Problems", was closed today but I'd like to appeal that decision. Perhaps I was unclear in my original post, but the wireless network I'm trying to access in my apartment has been designated for my use by the landlord as part of the lease agreement, that is, I'm not just trying to poach another tenet's hard-earned internets. The leasing company has a number of wifi networks set up in this building and they gave me the name and password to the one I'm supposed to able to use when I moved in a few months ago. Since then, the connection has been flawless when plugged into the wall jack, but I can't seem to get the wireless to work. I thought perhaps someone could see if it's just an error on my end with regard to my computer's configurations. If I need to do something with the router, I'll need to contact the landlord, whose office is downstairs. I've sent them a few emails about it over the past few months but they have yet to address the issue. There doesn't seem to be anyone particularly computer literate working for their company, so if I do need access to the router, I'd like to know what I should do with it instead of just pressing buttons.

Hopefully this clears things up and you'll be willing to reconsider answering my question. As the wireless is meant to be included with the rent, I'd really like to start using it at some point and not ... Read more

2nd topic on the forum! Very handy!

Ok, have a "base" laptop running windows xp pro, sp3.
It has an external 1TB hard drive connected to it as well as a printer, both are shared.

Was working fine for the past week and a bit, as far as printing from other laptops to that printer and accessing (mapping) the hard drive, BUT, over the past few days have been running into some issues.

The printer status on my laptop running Win7 says "offline", deleted the printer off my laptop and tried accessing it again and can't even see it now.. and the mapped HD shows an 'X' and says "An error occurred while reconnecting to ............ Microsoft Windows Network: The local drive name is already in use. This connection has been restored."

And when I click on 'Network' on my Win7 laptop, "BaseLaptop" doesn't show up anymore, they are both on the same 'Home' workgroup, and I don't get what has changed or what has happened, as far as I know nothing has been changed as it would have only been me changing things! My own laptop doesn't even show up when I click 'Network' on my laptop, after a restart it sometimes does, and after restarting both laptops I can sometimes access the shared external HD but when I tried later on it won't let me again.

Any idea what has gone on/wrong anyone? The base laptop is connected to router via cable, and my laptop connects wirelessly. I can still connect to... Read more

I have also had Excel issues in Windows 8 and 10 with Office 365 and know others have, too. An online repair has helped me. Go into the control panel click programs/uninstall and select Office 365...change...online repair. If you have another version of Office let us know.

I upgraded Office Pro 2010 to 2013 on Win 8.1x64.. Now, if I click an email address link in Outlook, I receive the message, "mailto:[email protected] This app can't be activated when UAC is disabled." I didn't have this issue with Outlook 2010. My reg setting at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\EnableLUA is set to 0x00. Thanks.

Recently I have started experiencing poor performance on my computer when trying to access the D drive, though sometimes it works fine.
I used AVG to scan the system and it found 2 Trojans.
I was told to come here for further assistance regarding those Trojans, as apparently AVG most likely has not completely removed them.

A few Weeks ago, my windows 7-64 home premium began acting up:
1) On a number of websites, the font style changed.
2) My APC powerchute software apparently stopped communicating properly (it was 7 years old and I thought that the UPS was failing - which it was). Upon replacement of the UPS, I still had a Powerchute  problem with the new UPS-it wouldn't load the management console). Working with APC support, we determined that two arial fonts (arial.ttf and arialbd.ttf) had changed to arial_01.ttf and ariabd_01.ttf. Replacement of those fonts solved that problem.
3) Running Malwarebytes, I am getting numerous mysearchdial pup's that mbam won't remove (see mbam log).
I've not noted any other bad behavior.
Per request, here are the DDS and attach logs also.

I have recently built a Windows 7 x64 PC with office 2013 installed. In Outlook, when I click on "File", it shows the below screenshot. It has been this way for almost a week. I have tried uninstalling office and reinstalling to no avail.

Has anyone seen this before and if so do you know how to go about fixing this. This metered connection should not be happening because it is on our LAN. There are probably a hundred or so others that have had no issues at all.

Thank You.
