Inspiron 3537 gives continuous short beep and looping restart

Q: Inspiron 3537 gives continuous short beep and looping restart

Few months back my dell inspiron 3537 64-bit 6GB ram with i5 processor has fell down from table. It worked well even though there was a crack on the backside of the screen near right hinge. But now from past one week it giving trouble in many ways ! Whenever I try to start it it either starts to give continuous short beeps or goes into looping restart. I can hear the drive sound and see power led glowing but the screen doesnt display anything except for changing from dark black to light black. Hdd led also doesnt blink. Please help me configure the issue and solve it.

Preferred Solution: Inspiron 3537 gives continuous short beep and looping restart

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've got problematic Dell Inspiron 1564. Suspected bad video.
When turned on, screen is blank and beep codes are "long-short-short-pause-short-short".
I can't find info about this beep code. I've found that long-short-short is bad video but what about next two short beeps?
Hard drive activity looks normal after that and I guess system works fine except graphics.External video output doesn't work.

Constant hard disk activity (even tho no apps were running) and then crashing. Blue screens saying it was physically dumping my memory due to problems. fortunately i was able to transfer the files i needed from the 40 GB storage drive to the 15GB (where windows runs off of). A:Continuous Restart Looping

Does your pc freeze or does it restart?

If it restarts can you hear a clicking sound from you Power Supply?

I had a faulty Power Supply a while ago and it sometimes but not always would do multiple restarts whilst Windows was still loading. Ususally I could hear a click just before the restart. If you can he a click to then try using a friend's power supply, preferably a friend who know knows more about pc's than you so that he can help you with installation. If the issues are gone then you obviously have a dying power supply on you hands, if not then I can't offer any more help.

Or maybe just take the pc to a pc fix-up place and allow them to determine if it is the power supply or not.

Long time no see, friends.
My beloved I570 is acting up, probably some sort of Alzheimer or similar.
Here is what happened, will try to be short.
Initially I was using PCIE SATA card to attach 4 more HDDs to the system, then SATA card died (already second in this PC), so I decided to remove all extra HDDs sitting in the case.
Did all standard precautions, including grounding etc. In order to remove HDDs I had to clear MOBO of a lot of cables and remove GPU. Long story short, after I put everything back together and attempted to boot up, I got long continuous beep and WIN7 sliding bar freezes almost at the end, no further activity, just a long beep. BIOS was not accessible as well.
So, I removed GPU, pull out MOBO 24 pin PSU cable, removed CMOS battery, did multiple 30 sec press and hold power button thing, left everything dead completely for about 30 minutes - completely reset system clock and all BIOS settings to default. Also, swap RAM (I have 2 sticks in slots 3 and 4) places. Put everything back, fired up, went to BIOS and fixed everything, DONE, rebooted and everything went back to normal.
Multiple restarts were OK, did also a few cold reboots with some minutes apart - all seems to be normal. Turn it off for a day or so.
Now problem is back again, like nothing happened.
Please, help if someone actually can. I checked multiple thread here and all over the WEB. My keyboard is clean, RAM was resettled, all connectors are firmly attached. This doesn't make any sense.

Hi, I own a Dell Inspiron N5110 i5 processor laptop with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB hard disk. Its getting 14 months since I bought it.From the last few days, I could see that the machine makes beep sound on start up till the windows starts. The sound gets disappeared after OS starts. Especially if I turn on the lap from hibernation mode, some time rebooting also make the beep sound. However, I observed a similar low tone inside the system even when the machine is running. I have been using a cooler also to reduce the heat, all keys are working fine no thing is jammed, I have performed the dell H/W diagnostics test all the results were passed. Drivers are all updated, the processor fan i also running correctly. I am wondering what can be the reason.
Please do share your thoughts and suggestions about this issue.

A:Continuous beep sound from my Dell inspiron n 5110 laptop on start up ??

I have tried something from another forum that I found, but do not have the link so I cannot copy and paste or give credit to the poster.  This is what I did:
1) Unplug all power from the laptop
2) Remove the battery
3) Hold down the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
4) Reattach the battery and/or plug in the power supply.
5) Power on the laptop.
This solved my problem.

My laptop here is a Dell Inspiron 15, 3000 series.
The laptop itself works perfectly fine, I am able to get into windows (which I installed myself, it originally came with Ubuntu).
Occasionally though, it will do a BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE (repeats).
This happens on boot and sometimes when I am using it. Sometimes it turns off suddenly when I am shifting the computer around. It's extremely loud.

What is causing this? The sound seems to be coming from around the area the Memory banks are under the laptop, but nothing seems to suggest that anything is wrong.
I took a suggestion and used FN+Power to do Hardware Diagnostics which said nothing is wrong.

What else can I try?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats and reply us with the beep count.

If you still receive 3 Beeps on the system then it indicates System board failure.. You will have to replace it on the laptop.
Please let me know the findings.

Hi Ganny,
What are the exact # of beeps in a cycle?
Kindly review this chart and see page# 47 - it will help isolate the source of the issue.
Based on the exact # of beeps, that part would need to be replaced.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.

Hi,  I recently updated my BIOS to the latest version using the System Update tool from Lenovo. For a while everything seemed to be working alright, as the BIOS was dowloaded and the computer rebooted. After rebooting the first time i was presented with the BIOS utility, and noticed that the update was progressing.  After 20 or so seconds the computer rebooted again. This is where my problems began. The computer immediately started beeping this short-short-short-long melody from the speakers. I thought this was normal, so I left the computer on for quite a while.  However, the beeping never stopped. Now the beeping resumed the instant i plug the power back in. I have yet been able to actually getting any sort of information on-screen telling me what's wrong.  I've tried following the "Recovering from a POST/BIOS update failure" on page 267 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual, but no luck with that so far. No matter where I place the jumper, the beeping code is the same short-short-short-long melody (yeah, it sounds like a disney tune or something). Any bright ideas? The machine type is a M92p 2992-B3G I'd hate to have to send it in for repairs, and Lenovo's Norwegian support line doesn't open until Monday, and there seems to be no way to call their 800-number in the states from here  Oh, and would this be covered by my warranty if repairs / motherboard replacement is the only way out? UPDATE #1: I found... Is the beep pattern just one short one long? Check your manual for the POST beep codes to determine what it is telling you. All POST beep codes are different so there's no way to tell unless we know exact model of your PC. The manual usually has the beep code in it, though.

Hi, Today I replaced my old graphics card with a new GeForce 9500GT and also added a new Kingston 2GB Ram Card. I installed both of them then restarted the computer, since then it has only powered on and playing 1 short beep then 1 long beep. I've tryed everything I can think of ranging from taking out everything new and putting it back to before I added the new items to completely taking out all 3 RAM sticks and reseating them. I'm not sure how a brand new unopened 2GB ram stick that fit perfectly and a brand new right out of the box graphics card can cause a problem like this. I've been through the ins and outs of the internet trying to find a solution but nothing has worked. Hoping someone can think of a unique way to fix this or how it could have possibly happened in the first place. I dont buy anything used everything placed inside my computer was/is brand new when it was purchased. Any help/comments on solutions would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Is it possible you are hearing 1 long - one short?
That might indicate a BIOS CHECKSUM error, depending on the brand of BIOS.

You can try a ClearCMOS procedure (CLRTC is the same thing):
Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

First thing to check is the condition of the display cable - runs between the mainboard and back of the screen.  If it shows broken pins at either end or damaged conductors anywhere along its length, replace the cable.  If the cable checks out OK, replace the display panel with a new one.

Try them is safe mode (how you get there depends on the OS that's installed). If they don't work at all in Safe Mode, it's a hardware failure and the mainboard will need to be replaced.
If they DO work in safe mode, have you reloaded the operating system?  If so, what OS?  And did you install the chipset driver and USB 3.0 drivers afterward?

Hi to all,
I have a strange problem with my Dell Inspiron 3537.
One day I shut it down via start>shut down, and after a few minutes I needed to turn it on again and when I pressed the power button it turned on,showed a black screen and shut it down on its own.I pressed the power button again, this time it showed black screen again but didn't turn off,I could hear the fans working and only the power light on(the hdd light was off).
I turned it off,and pressed the power button for 10-15 times, the problem repeated but one time it somehow managed to show the Dell splash screen and booted normally.I firstly thought that the problem is caused by a virus,so I formatted the hdd and reinstalled the win7 ultimate 64 bit.The laptop worked for a few hours without any problem,so I decided to shut it down again via start>shut down, and when I wanted to check if it will work without problem, and when I pressed the power button the same problem again!!
After a 10-15 tries I somehow managed to boot it again and this time it showed a BSOD:error stop 0x0000001E
After this Finally I did a startup repair with the Win 7 installation dvd and the repair showed me this : The following startup option will be repaired name: Windows boot manager and etc. and :The following startup options will be added:Windows recovery enviroment etc. After that repair I decided to shut down the laptop via the same way:start>shut down, and when I tried to start it the same problem!Black screen with only power ... I have an Inspiron 3537 (4th gen i5, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 8670M), which was still working fine last night. Since this morning, however, it does not turn on.
When I press the power button, the power led lights up (normal, white color) for 10 seconds, then turns off, and turns on again. This sequence repeats three times. After the third light-up, the led stays on.
There are no beeps. There is no fan activity, and the screen doesn't turn on either.
I've tried the recommended steps I've found on the product page's troubleshooting section: I've checked with and without the batteries, I've checked the power adapter (it works fine), and I've tried holding the power button for 10/20/60 sec without the battery and removing everything connected. None of them helped.

A:Inspiron 3537 fails to turn on

Is there any physical damage / liquid spillage on the machine? Check if any USB ports are loose or misaligned. Sometimes if the pins in the USB port are touching each other, they are known to short circuit and hence the system would not turn on.
Download the service manual - http://dell.to/1OTjkGy - and remove and reseat the memory modules and test the system. Try each memory module at a time. Disconnect the HDD and see if the system turns on.
If the system is under warranty, write me a private conversation with the service tag, your name and email address. If there is no warranty, then we can help with a paid service call if required.

Hi to all!
I need some help!
My Dell Inspiron 3537,which is almost 3 years old is overheating!
I am facing the overheating problems for a long time! The laptop's fans were cleaned, and the thermal paste for the CPU and GPU was also repasted,Yesterday by the technicians from the autorized service for my laptop.
But the laptop is overheating again, the region of the keyboard is very hot,the fans are working with 3900 RPM's!
I have tried SpeedFan,HW Monitor,HW Info,OpenHardware Monitor,RealTemp,CoreTemp and all of them show me temps about 57-63 degrees Celsius, and please mention that these temps are shown while the system is idle, and I am using a coolingpad;if I turn off the coolingpad the laptop gets hotter and hotter! And the ambient temperature is approximately of 27-28 degrees Celsius!
I am very scared that something bad could happen to the mainboard and the CPU too!
The technicians say that they had done everything they could, because the laptop's hardware passes all of the diagnostics tests!

I am really afraid of playing some "heavy" game like GTA V,because I think that it would warm the hardware parts!
So please tell me,how can I test the hardware personally if everything is all right with it and are the temps of the CPU of 58-63 degrees ,while the system is idle normal(plus I am using a cooling pad!)
then how can I fix this problem ,and is there a ... Read more

A:My Dell Inspiron 3537 is overheating! Please help me!

Those temperatures are well within safety margins -- that said, if you try to tow a trailer with an economy car, it'll overheat - this isn't a system designed for heavy gaming.  It's an economy model - not a hauler or high performance model.

Hi I have been at this problem for a day and have no idea what to do.

I boot my system and I just get an alarm sound beep. No pauses no pattern just a beep which doesn't stop. I am still able to use the PC (on it now) as for the beep I just removed the motherboard speaker lol.

I have checked loads of Forums but can no find anything helpful. Looking at My Computer temperature they all seem average for my system plus the beep happens straight away during the system post.

I have taken my Ram and Graphics card out and both are fine. I have also taken my CPU out where I had a little problem. When taking the Heat sync off it pulled the CPU with it stuck to the heat sync like concrete. This in turn bent about 5 of the pins VERY VERY slightly like 0.01 degree angle. How ever the beep happened long before that. I have re-pasted the heat sync and the pins are back in place and be evidnce type right here right now all seems fine apart from the beeping.

I could just ignore it but I am big time gamer and I don't feel combatable playing any game right now till the beep goes away and leaving the motherboard speck out means I lose overheat warning.

It did beep about a month ago it did it for a minute and stopped I had it last week and a reboot sorted it however this does not work no more.

I have made 6 systems and non of them have had any problem's. This system I made about 4 Months ago and is my latest all new hardware (sept for the hard drive which is a month older) My... Read more

I have read many other post on this subject but none fit my exact problem,

Intel i5 2500k quad core 3.3GHz
8GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM
NVIDIDA GTX 570 Graphics card
Asus P8P67 LE Motherboard
Windows 7 64 bit
60GB SSD/1TB Data hard drive
700 W Xigmatec power supply
Zalman Z9 plus case (In case that becomes relevant)
The problem began slightly more than a month after i bought my pc,

I was playing a game (Team fortress 2) when the graphics began to act odd, for instance when something moved past me it would seam blocky and out of line for a second,

i have checked two other games since,

when i start one (Killing floor) the moment i reach the main menu my pc makes a continuous beeping noise and when i exit the game the beeping noise becomes lower pitch while exiting, then stops once the game has closed.

When i start the other game (Counter strike: source) there is no beeping noise but i get the same graphics problem as i did when playing the first game (Team fortress 2)

The temperature displayed on my case is usually between 22C and 25C and was at 24C at the time when the graphics problem began.

Could you confirm there are no stuck keys on the keyboard? Especially the Page down and Down arrow keys.
Try connecting an external keyboard and mouse to check if that makes any difference.
Thank you

When I listen to my internal mic on my laptop I cannot hear anything but scratching or tapping on the laptop next to the mic. Is this a driver problem or do most of these models have this issue? Also there is no mic input on this type of Inspiron I was wondering if there is a way of using cellphone headphones as a mic and headphones at the same time? Or do I have to get a usb microphone?

A:Dell Inspiron 3537 internal mic not working

Priest96When I listen to my internal mic on my laptop I cannot hear anything
By default, you can't hear the mic. This is to prevent feedback. In order to hear the mic, open the Sound dialog, the Recording tab, select Microphone, then Properties. In the Properties box, select the Listen tab, then check the box to listen to the mic, and where you want to send the signal.

If you still cannot hear it, or if it doesn't seem to be working at all, make sure it is selected as the default device. If still no luck, it might be defective or disconnected. Sometimes functioning can be recovered by removing the bezel and reseating the camera connection, and make sure that the mic is lined up with the hole, and with no obstruction there. There is a service manual available with instructions and diagrams if you want to attempt that.
Priest96Is this a driver problem or do most of these models have this issue?
We get posts about mics not working, but I'm not aware of it being a particular problem with this model. It's probably not the driver but it is a possibility. You could download and install a fresh copy of the driver, for your operating system, from your support page. You could install a different version of the driver. Or you could test the driver by switching to the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right cli... Read more

I have Dell Inspiron 3537-6958 with Windows 8.1 and latest drivers downloaded from Dell support website.
I don't use Skype often but today friend of mine told me that she can barely hear me from all background "noise" (static). After finishing chat I tried reinstalling drivers, trying windows ones, and so on and so forth multiple times.
To avoid calling Skype sound-test bot (or whatever name is) I downloaded sound recorder.
90% of sound is just noise, I can barely hear my voice when speaking in normal tone. I tried playing with microphone boost (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%) and I cannot tell witch one is worst, DC offset cancelation also doesn't help. In Dell Audio I tried Microphone Enhancement On/Off without any luck.
Not sure what else to try. All ideas are welcome.

A:Inspiron 3537 built-in mic has too many noise/static

locodogTo avoid calling Skype sound-test bot (or whatever name is) I downloaded sound recorder.
Is it Windows Sound Recorder? That is included in Windows and is the test I would have used also. Because it failed the Sound Recorder test there is a good chance that the mic hardware has failed. Contact tech support if you are still under warranty.
A great test of hardware is to perform a system recovery. If the mic does not work immediately after a system recovery then it has definitely failed.

Recently I am getting problem with my laptop. I thought the problem was with Windows OS so made fresh install. The problem occurs both on windows 7 and Windows 10 OS. After few minutes of booting, laptop freezes. It runs for about 5 to 30 minutes and suddenly freezes and mouse and keyboard becomes unresponsive. I have not overclocked or made some unusual changes in hardware. I have ran chkdsk and there is no disk error.
However the problem does not occur in Linux Mint partition. It can run perfectly all day on Linux Mint. Please help me to diagonize and solve the problem.

A:Laptop freezing Dell Inspiron 3537

So you notice the problem in Windows 7 and 10 but not in Linux, is this correct?  I take it that in Linux the notebook runs fine?  Have you always noticed the problem, and if not when did it start? Was any changes made to the system prior to when the problem started?
What was the original operating system that the notebook shipped in? Did you notice the problem before any of the other operating systems were installed? Are you dual booting the system or have only tried one OS at a time?
Were any changes made to the BIOS while either reinstalling an OS, or in troubleshooting the hangs and if so what where they?  Have you tried updating the BIOS, the latest version A08 may be downloaded here.
If the system is working alright in Linux it doesn't sound like a hardware problem. There are no issues that I am aware of that will cause this type of behavior  for the 3537 at least out of the ordinary. So to solve the problem it is likely going to take narrowing down when the problem started and what was changed on the system when the problem started to occur.

I am having a *** of a time fixing this issue! I've reinstalled drivers, rebooted countless times, and search and tried many suggestions offered across the internet.
My issue is that while I can pair with my bluetooth devices (a small speaker and a sound bar), I can not CONNECT to them. The devices are correctly recognized and show up in the device manager without any exclamation point or other indication of a problem.
Connecting to these bluetooth devices from my android phone works just fine.

A:Inspiron 15 (3537) Bluetooth problem (using Windows 8.1)

What procedure do you use to connect?
Do you hold a power button and hear tones or is there some light which flashes to let you know it is powered on?
If you check Device Manager and Properties for the device, does the Events tab give you any clue as to what is happening?  It should at least show the Device Install requested and then Device Installed.
I am in Win 10 so you may not have this tab on the properties..
Have you unpaired the device from anything else and have you tried removing the device and then repairing?

My Dell Inspiron 3537, running windows 10 uefi in wd ssd is stuck on the dell logo while booting. The circle of dots doesn't appear under the dell logo and windows doesn't boot.
But when I press any button on the keyboard, the circle appears and windows loads instantaneously.
Somebody please tell me what's going on with it.
So peculiar and infuriatingly frustrating.

A:Inspiron 3537 stuck on DELL logo! PLEASE HELP!

I am not sure exactly where the boot in hanging in regard to Windows or just Bios boot.  You could turn on the boot log option is msconfig.exe and then, after having a boot which exhibited the condition, check the log to see if it shows some device not installing.
Others may recommend you run the diagnostics to see if they show anything.  I believe the F12 key during boot allows access.
