Converting a mono mp3 file to a stereo mp3 file.

Q: Converting a mono mp3 file to a stereo mp3 file.

When i convert a (Bitrate - 320kbps, Channel - 1(mono), Audio Sample Rate - 44 kHz) 9.0 9mb mp3 file to a stero file using rip edit burn, I get a (Bitrate - 56kbps, Channels - 2(stereo) and Audio Sample Rate - 22 kHz) 1.59 mb mp3 file.
During conversion the converter shows the following message:

The currently selected mp3 encoder and bitrate does not provide optimum quality for music files. To get a better quality mp3 please use a different mp3 converter.

Available codecs - Windows ACM Default
Bit rate ( kbit) - 56

What needs to be done to achive a better quality stero file.

Preferred Solution: Converting a mono mp3 file to a stereo mp3 file.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well, you can't really convert a mono source to stereo, think about it.

My band recorded a song and put it on the computer. When I play it, it only comes out of through one channel and I want to know how I can go about fixing it. I used this really half-assed setup, through a video camera (not digital) and then mono through USB. I know that I should probably get a mic but I'm far too lazy.

Any ideas?

A:Mono and stereo

Go download Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and use that.
Shouldn't be a problem to re-save your audio in stereo. Note it will still be mono, in a sense, it just sends the same signal out both left and right channels.

After you get Audacity installed and find a way to import your song (make a backup copy), if you can't figure it out, we'll take the next step.

Good luck!

Okay, KISS: I'm deaf in my left ear and listen through headphones. I therefore can't hear sounds coming from just the left.

How do I force everything into the right channel? If I just use "Balance" then all it does is omit the left channel and some of the center (I think). Is there a way to do this with all sounds the computer makes via software and not hardware?

Hi Folks,

I have an Acer Aspire SA80-Z970 desktop computer that I purchased about 3 years ago. Some time ago I noticed that I was only getting sound out of one speaker (right hand side). Trying different speakers or the built in monitor speakers did not solve the problem. I've tried updating drivers to no avail.
I've looked at "sound effects manager - AC97 audio control panel" and everything appears to be in order. I've even tried resetting defaults. There is a "test speakers" option there that proves only one speaker is working. As far as I am aware, this PC has an onboard soundcard. I'm running windows XP and also have Ubuntu Linux loaded on a separate partition. The same problems occurs in Linux.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Hi everyone!, I have a bunch of stereo split-track .wma's that I need to convert to mono minus the vocal track. Does anyone know of a piece of software that mutes a channel and converts to mono in batches?

A:Stereo To Mono Converter

Adobe Audition has awesome batch processing, infact I routienly take files that are recorded in stereo from a mono source (recorder won't record in mono) and strip out one channel in Audition for a part of my job.

Edit: How often are you wanting to do this, and what size are the files? If this is going to be a 1 time thing I could do it for you real easy, provided the file sizes aren't in the gigs.

A:No Stereo Mix or Mono Mix in Windows 7 64-bit

I don't have it on Windows 7 32 bit.

I have tried to get it with my onboard sound (Sigmatel) and also with my separate sound card (Creative Labs Soundblaster Live 24 Bit).

No dice, with various drivers.

This means I cannot record what I am hearing over speakers.

If you hear of a solution, advise. I expect this is due to the sound card rather than Windows 7 because I know of at least one person who still can record what he hears--he has a rather expensive sound card.

I would love to hear from anyone who has got "what you hear" recording going on Windows 7.

What sound card were you using on 32 bit when it worked?

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows how to fix this. My microphone is supposed to record in stereo and I can use the "listen to microphone" setting on my computer and hear it that way but when I go into audacity or any other recording programs I have on my computer it will record both channels of a stereo recording as if I'm recording with a mono microphone on both channels. If i use the Realtek sound card program and hit the "listen to microphone" button though I can hear the microphone in stereo but just not in other programs. I've tried altering all of the settings I can find but I cannot seem to stop this from happening. I'm sorry if my wording is kind of off I'm not 100% sure how to phrase parts of this. I'm not sure if this will help but I am using a 3dio free space and it connects through a standard Aux. cable.

I have the Plextor Digital Video Convertor and I have quite an old Video Camera.
I have converted the video and sound fine it's just that the Camcorder only has a Mono audio output.

How can I make the audio stereo so it can be played on a Surround Sound System?

The camera is Samsung VP-L600 and the cable I have plugs into the A/V Out and there are two connectors at the end: Yellow (Video) and White (Mono Sound). I don't want to buy another cable.

A:Make Mono Sound Stereo

There is no stereo information in a mono track, but you can simulate stereo using an audio editor such as the free Audacity:http://audacity.sourceforge.net/A basic technique is covered here:http://www.selected-audio-reviews.com/arti...o_to_stereo.htmWhat format are your video files being recorded in? The difficulty is going to be that the mono sound is incorporated into the audio layer of the video file, and extra sound would have to be added in as an overdub. If you simply want to record straight onto left and right channels, you would need to get a y-splitter lead for the audio connection, so there is two connections available. This would record two identical channels, sound would come from left and right speakers instead of just one, but there would be no stereo "surround" effect.

Can Windows 98SE .clp files be converted to Word2000 .doc format?

A:Converting a .clp file to a Word 2000 .doc file?

Well, it appears that it could be one of the following file types:

You searched for file extension: .clp

Clipart GraphicProgram: QUATTRO PRO
Clipboard fileProgram: MS WINDOWS
Compiler Script (Clip List)Program: CLIPPER 5

So that depends.

You can always try, from Word, File-Open. Change the files of type to "recover text from any file" and try opening the file.

Don't forget to change the file types back to Word docs after you've used that file type or you'll forget and be in trouble next time you open a file.

New member with an annoying problem. I got the latest updates from Microsoft last week and after that my internet sound has had problems. At first, it would quickly fade to almost nothing before coming back. It now switches from normal stereo (set at 24 bits, 48000 Hz) to softer mono for a second or two. I've tried changing it to DVD quality, but it didn't help. This is happening on streaming videos and youtube (both on Firefox and Explorer), but not my own files played via media players.

Ideas? Thanks!

A:Sounds constantly switches b/w mono and stereo on Internet videos

Youtube either uses Adobe Flash or HTML5 for their videos (and sound). Sound problems are often because of a corrupt Flash player. Reinstall the Adobe flash player as a first step.

By the way, "CD Quality" Audio is 16 bit 44100Khz. That is what is used with commercial audio CD's and what a "standard" wav audio file is.

These are the instructions handed to me:

1. Download VCF-to-23andMe. The two scripts in this directory require Python 3.

2. First, run the data_to_db.py script using your VCF file as input. This generates the genome.db file:

> python3 data_to_db.py input.vcf.gz vcf genome.db

3. Then run db_to_23.py script using the genome.db file as input. This produces a file in the 23andMe format:

> python3 db_to_23.py genome.db blank_v3.txt 23andMe.txt

So, I go on command prompt and tried copy pasting the 1st command and I got a genome.db file but when I copy paste the 2nd command line (the one involving db_to_23.py) nothing happens. Youre supposed to start off with a vcf file and 2 python scripts to convert it. Im not sure how to do this.

All I have are a VCF file and 2 python scripts. If someone could describe the process from a fresh start to how I would convert it to 23andMe then that would be helpful.

Just a technical maneuvering issue.

I have a ps3 and like to watch my movies and stuff there, but the system does not play FLV files. I convert the files to AVI, but once that is done the video is shortended (i.e a 45 min episode of a show in FLV is cut to only 2-10 mins) why is that? am i doing something wrong?

A:Converting FLV file to AVI file

I may not be following you correctly and my suggestion may not be 100% correct since we are talking several possibilities here.

But I'll attempt to make sense of this.

It depends on the program that was used to make the video and to which size the program used to create the file, when videos are converted the program that converts the video may remove un-needed frames.

Lets briefly mention DVDs that are dual layered, those use up more space than what an average DVD can support, some being as large as 8.0 GB which an average 4.7 Gb DVD can not store that data, so the process is to SHRINK the content so it fits the 4.7 Gb media.

I realize you are referring to files on a computer and not a DVD movie, but the point I am making is some conversion programs down-size the file as it is being converted to remove un-necessary frames.

My next question is do these videos have any content removed from them in the conversion process? In other words, are any scenes missing in the converted version vs. the origional?

If not then what your conversion program did was it down-sized the size of each frame so it consumes less space.

In a few cases, this can affect the quality of the video frames to a less desirable quality, if this is the case, you should go to the properties of your program and change the conversion settings, so it does not sacrifice quality over size.

i just wanna ask which one is more ideal to do.

1. Directly convert a .dmg file (usually a mac file) into a .iso file (cd/dvd image file)

2. Extract first the .dmg file to your computer then burn directly the extracted files onto a cd or dvd?

I'm just confused with this when i converted a .dmg file to a .iso file, the 5.84GB dmg file became 6.90GB iso file whereas when i extracted the contents of the two, it's size is only 784MB. That is: 5.84gb dmg file and 6.90gb iso file, when extracted it resulted the same to 784mb.

so i'm thinking if i just extract first and then burn. in doing this, i'll be using only 784mb on a cd or dvd instead of converting the dmg file to iso file before burning (which will consume 6.90gb).
that 784mb when burned onto a cd or dvd will make an iso file first using my Nero Burning ROM before writing on the the disc in which the iso size is only 784mb.

does the two methods i mentioned above make any change or will just result to same contents and format?

i don't know if the two methods will affect any files or configuration files. by the way, the dmg file is an installer that must be burned in order to use. that's why i'm much concerned of this as it may affect the data.

thanks for any idea.

What format will give me the best quality dvd video when converting an .avi file?

A:converting .avi file

For video to play on most standalone DVD players it has to be converted to mpeg2 and authored, specs are here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvd The exception to this is that some DVD players will play Divx encoded discs or mpeg's burned as data discs. That really depends on the player.

Final quality depends on many things like your source, the process you use, the encoder.... Lot's of variables. There is no best method, you have to take into account what you have and where you're going with it.

Hello Techguy Forum,

I am hoping someone here can help me. Here is my situation.

My Chinese wife has a neat little audio device that she was given that lets her listen to Chinese preaching in her own language. The device has literally hundreds if not thousands of files on an SD card. I opened it up and tried to extract the files hoping that they were in .mp3 format hoping she could put these audio files in her own mp3 player as the device has a horrible interface and no way of knowing what file is being played besides going one-by-one.

But the files ended up being .jrc. I've never heard of this kind of file and have searched and searched but have found very little on this and nothing about .jrc as an audio file.

Is there anyone who knows anything about this or how to go about converting such a file into an mp3?

==> I tried to upload one of the files that I copied of the SD card to practice on but I got an 'upload error'. It may be too big of a file.

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much.
