Yoga 720-12IKB: Lenovo Vantage battery gauge disappeared

Q: Yoga 720-12IKB: Lenovo Vantage battery gauge disappeared

Some days ago, I found out the Lenovo Vantage battery gauge on taskbar disappeared. Even the menu to turn it on or off in Lenovo Vantage also disappeared too. Is Lenovo going to release next update soon to make it available, or is there any way for me to get it back? I'd already reinstalled the Lenovo Vantage and got all newest drivers installed, but nothing helped.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi everyone !I am trying to get back the BatteryGauge in the Windows taskbar but everything I tried failed :- in the LenovoSettings app : the switch is ON- when I right click on the windows taskbar, I can see the BatteryGauge toolbar but when I click on it, nothing is happening- I search in the windows registery and it seems that the files for this taskbar are located in c:\program files\lenovo\batterygauge... I don't have this folder on my HDD- I tried to download the installation file from Lenovo website (the file bg10ww23.exe) but when I install it, nothing is happening neither... For your information everything is "up to date" on my computer : latestest version of Thinkpad Dependencies / LenovoSettings app / Windows 10 64bits / etc. Can someone send me a ZIP file with the files located in c:\program files\lenovo\batterygauge\ ? ThanksFred

A:Lenovo yoga 720-12ikb battery decline when charger is plugged in?

Define "decline." What percentage to what percentage. If it's 100-95, that's by design. If it's around 60, you may have battery conservation mode engaged. At least I THINK that's available on the 720.  If you're down to 20% and it's not charging, then there's a problem.

My Lenovo battery gauge / indicator disappears. I'm on Windows 10. If I right-click the taskbar and remove then re-add it, it comes back. And by disappear I mean it goes invisible but the space it takes up is still on the taskbar. Has anyone else run into this and found a fix? I'm using version 1.0.23.0 of the Lenovo Battery Gauge. I've reinstalled it. I've tried prior version. Nothing seems to fix it.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I have a new since Christmas Yoga 720-12IKB and find that the wifi is disconnecting/reconnecting numerous times per minute. It causes significant distruption trying to use the computer, with frequent errors about not being connected to the internet. Generally causes the device to operate very slow, nearly unusable. I'm not having disruption on any other computers/tablets/phones connected. I've tried a fair amount of troubleshooting but have yet to find a solution. The one workaround that I've found is that when I connect to power, the problem goes away. Remove power, issue returns. Suggests a problem with the power management (or possibly network adapter driver) but I can't figure it out. The network adapter is Qualcomm QCA61x4a. Here's what I've attempted: 1) Disable the power management feature of the adapter (uncheck allow computer to turn off)2) Run Lenovo System Update to make sure all drivers are up-to-date3) Manually updated the driver via device manager (went from .312 to .438)4) Switch roaming agressiveness to low Other than making it a desktop (needing to leave it plugged in to avoid the issue) any suggestions/resolution to this problem? Anyone else seeing the same behavior? Frustrating problem to an otherwise fantastic, fun, and fast Yoga!!! Looking for a light at the end of the tunnel....

At some point in the last few days or weeks, the green battery indicator simply vanished from my X1 Yoga (Win10) without a trace, and it seems I'm not the only one with that problem. I tried downloading it from the support page, but the software was removed from the list, and a link from google only leads to a "page-not-found" message. So, what's going on? Will there be a new version of the battery indicator? Why was the old one uninstalled and not just simply updated via system update?

I have enabled the Lenovo Battery Gauge via Lenovo Vantage.  Two questions: 1.  From time to time (no regular schedule) it randomly disappears.  Why? 2.  Yesterday (1-30-2018) I had to re-enable it, and it appears to have doubled or tripled in size.  It used to be a nice, compact little icon, and now it's huge and a little distracting.  I couldn't find a setting to return it to its original size. Thank you for any assistance you might provide.

My Y50-70 battery is still in good condition after 3.5 years of use, I can tell by the fact that it lasts for more than 2.5 hours in High Performance mode going from 100% to 20%. I mostly use the laptop plugged in with Conservation Mode on. I regularily do cycles of the battery mostly when I'm traveling with Conservation Mode off. The cycle count is around 200, so I know it's half way its service life. However when the battery reaches around 20% I need to imediately plug it in, because then it could go down to 0% in a minute. In fact when it shows 20%, the moment I plug it in AC the battery gauge shows imediately 0% and then is slowly going up. I'm like 95% sure that the problem is with the battery gauge, and there was a Battery Gauge Reset option in the Lenovo Utilities preinstalled on the Windows 8 OS that came preinstalled when I bought it. Windows 8 and 8.1 were such a disasters but luckily then in less than a year came Windows 10 and everything ran smooth, except for the fact that Lenovo dropped half of the utilities to perform useful tasks like Fan Dust Removal and Battery Gauge Reset, instead they are offering useless software like Photo Master in the Support Section. Somehow I managed to install two years ago a version of Lenovo Quick Optimizer that does the trick for performing Fan Dust Removal but no luck with Battery Gauge Reset. I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

I had a hardware issue with my new Yoga 920 and have the motherboard was replaced the Lenovo Vantage app displays as an IDEAPAD.  Been round and round with support to no avail.    I am 100% certain - but with no way o prooving - that before the motherboard was changed the Lenovo Vantage app displayed as a YOGA920. Can another send me screen shots of their home page on the Lenovo Vantage app so I can show support I am not making this up?

A:Yoga 920 and Lenovo Vantage

I dont have a Yoga 920 but I believe you.  I think what happened to you happened to my nephew.  When they replaced motherboard on my nephews Yoga 720 they were supposed to update model number and serial number on the motherboard but they forgot to.  They did not.    Now Vantage wont work on my  nephews laptop since Vantage doesnt know which model number it is to lookup for software update.  If you go into BIOS is the serial number model number missing there too?
Now the only way support says the laptop can be fixed is to ship laptop to repair center for repair centers mistake.

Below is my post from months ago in regards to my nephews Yoga 720.  I still have no resolution since he was at school at he needed it for studies and didnt have time to ship into Lenovo.

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/720-13-motherboard-replacement/m-p/3957342

On the bottom of the Vantage screen it should show your device make, Serial number , Product number and BIOS version.  On my nephews 720 that information is missing since its missing from the motherboard.

Hello everyone! My name is Kevin and I've had my Lenovo Y410P for a little less than 2 years. So recently I downloaded Battery Bar as I was realizing that my battery duration was slowly receding.Battery Bar, a program that shows battery level and wear, stated that my 6 cell battery had experienced 54.3% wear. I browsed the internet for specific tips on how to increase my battery duration and came upon battery recalibration. I tried it a couple times manually, but I didn't get any results. So, I then turned to the battery gauge full-charge/discharge function in my Energy Management. After running that through the night, I realized the next morning that the battery was depleted and I couldn't turn on my laptop or even charge my battery unless I followed the steps:- Remove the battery from the laptop.- Plug in the AC adapter and use the laptop without a battery.- The battery can be reattached. The battery is able to start charging. - If I remove the AC adapter for a second and reattach it, it will not be recognized and it will not charge the battery. As of now, Battery Bar shows that I have 0% wear of 52,830 mWh which is significantly less than the full capacity of a 6 cell battery; however, it's still better than what I had before. Anyways, does anyone else have this problem? And if you have, how did you resolve this issue? Thank you!

Hi, this is a solution I thought I'd just share so others can find it, if needed. I wanted to toggle the hotkey functionality on my 920-13IKB (so function keys would work without the Fn button and the hotkeys with Fn button) but couldn“t find a way to do so. BIOS (5NCN38WW) did not provide that option and "Lenovo Settings" was not available on the PC and not as a download. Several support agents couldn't give me a solution and after I've been told this was definitely in BIOS, I was told what I wanted was just not possible. However, I eventually found out the Lenovo Settings features are now included in the "Lenovo Vantage" app which can be downloaded from the Microsoft store (possible without Microsoft ID albeit the suggestion to register does come up).  I can now toggle the hotkey functionality and the app also gives access to several other useful stuff (like checking for updates or showing the pen battery status). TL;DR: Download the app "Lenovo Vantage" from Microsoft store to toggle hotkey functionality. HTH, regards.

Hello together, I'm using a new Thinkpad L380 for about 4 weeks and have been experiencing battery drain issues when off since the first day. After all possible corrections found on this forum (Bios Update, Win10 QuickStart, Managment Foundation... and some more) it now comes down to a final observation:When I shut down the computer and the battery threshold in Lenovo Vantage is off, it will keep its charge for two or more days without loosing a single percent of battery charge. If I shut off the computer with battery threshold activated (e.g. after using it at a docking station), the charge will decrease by approx. 6% every 12 hours, so after a weekend without use more than 30% of the battery charge has disappeared. I was very surprised to find out, that this for sure is the only remaining issue, but I can repeat it over and over again and everytime I deactivate the battery threshold function, my battery will keep its charge when shut down. Is there any solution or improved Lenovo Vantage functionality (current is 4.12.13) known or to be expected to solve this issue? Thank you for any helpful reply

My keyboard backlight doesn't go on and off automatically anymore depending on how light or how dark it is.  I have discovered this happens since i "upgraded" Lenove Settings to Lenove Vantage. I never gave it much thought because it worked always. Now that it is somehow gone i am experiencing how highly inconvenient this is in my work flow.  There isn't even an option anymore in Lenovo Vantage to enable automatic backlight... Why? I have never heard of 'upgrades' that actually demote an important every day function, and add an inconvenient annoyance.   Please tell me i am missing something, otherwise there is no excuse for this horrible 'upgrade'. I have saved a T60p, a T61 and a W510 from scrapping, partly replaced battery, CPU, RAM and changed to a SSD and successfully installed Windows 10 x64 version 1709 onto them. As least the T61 and W510 are now quite useful. Then I remembered that Thinkpads did have a Power Manager for Windows 7, and found that for Windows 10 Lenovo Vantage from the Windows Store seems to be the best option. Unfortunately, since installing Vantage, after hibernating Windows 10, the battery drains about 20% over 24 hours, and I have not found any explanation for that.Interestingly, the battery does not drain after hibernating when:o) I remove and reinsert the battery for a few secondso) power on, booting into Ubuntu and doing a shutdowno) I do a shutdown instead of hibernatingI really would like use Vantage to define a charging threshold from about 40% to 80% to enhance the life of the (new) batteries, but the described significant draining during hibernation is unacceptable. Does anyone know a solution for this problem (3 different laptops experience the same problem, even when just installing Windows 1709 and Vantage)? Thanks a lot!
