Legion Y530 144Hz - which Panel?

Q: Legion Y530 144Hz - which Panel?

I am really interested in the Y530 model with the 144 hz screen but I found almost no information which panel Lenovo uses - only that it should be brighter than the 60 hz model with 300 nits. I would be really interested to know if it has pwm, cause I am sensitive to that and also what about the colors (AdobeRGB / sRGB)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, i just bought the laptop from a retailer 2 days back. 1) I did a GPU stress test on Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and attached the results. The bench mark score is horrible. ( the FPS and GPU clock results are less than average , Nvidia settings were set to prefer Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050TI GPU and set for max performance ;not sure why? ) i also used GPU-Z to monitor the GPU clock speed and Nvidia 1050 TI has not been able to run further than 200 MHZ. 2) aside from this, the display will increase brightness suddenly then dims back to original brightness. ( adapative brightness is not ON in power plans btw)  i have done a Vantage hardware scan and nothing abnormal came up.Is there some defect with the GPU or related?

I bought the Legion Y530 on July 2018, yesterday during normal use, no gaming, windows asked me to restart due to automatic updates, I selected wait then about 10 min after that all of sudden the screen turned off and the computer restarted but the screen did not come back, not even the Lenovo logo is being displayed. I was able to connect an external monitor and log in on windows, then tried to remove the installed windows update and the laptop screen came alive again but the computer restarted and the screen died again. This is really bad for $1000 laptop. Actually I can see something on the screen, it is like it is with 3% of light. Very very dark images. To get even more worse, I bought the laptop in USA but I am from Brazil, where there is no Lenovo international support. This might be a sistematic issue of this model. There is another guy with the same problem, see below:https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/9ean09/legion_y530_black_screen/ Not sure what to do to get help.

My Legion Y530 touchpad has been halting constantly, for up to a minute each time, for the last few days (I've had it for less than a week). I've tried installing updated Synaptics drivers (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds104007), which did not have an effect. Also, the touchpad does not show up in the Device Manager (all of the "Firmware" entries show generic "Device Firmware" without any label). I've installed a dual boot Windows-Ubuntu system following the guide here (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops-Knowledge-Base/Installing-Ubuntu-18-04-on-the-Legion-Y53...), but the problem predates the new installation, and also occurs under both operating systems. Help!

Hello, I have had the following happen to 2 different Lenovo Legion Y530 laptops in the last week.For the first laptop it was accidentally allowed to run down to zero.For the second laptop it was intentially run down to zero to try to recreate this problem.  Unfortunately it succeeded.Here are the steps:Laptop runs down to zero and shuts off.  When plugged in, on power on, states laptop was not powered down normally and then brings up Recovery screen (blue screen).  Claims missing or errors in iaStorAC.sys.  The first laptop problem claimed HAL.dll was missing or corrupt.From the blue screen, most options lead back to this recovery screen.  Only the BIOS options goes elsewhere. From the novo button, I've tried:- System Recovery - appears to work but returns to Recovery screen.- Restore from Restore point (after booting from USB) - claims it works (after some hd repair) and then returns to Recovery screen.- From command line, repairing the boot config data (ran into permission errors on some commands) - no success. I called Lenovo support and after verifying that the harddrive was still recognized by the bios, had me attempt System Recovery from the novo menu.  When that failed, claimed it was a hardware issue and needed to be sent in for repair.  Seems unlikely it would be the same hardware problem on 2 separate laptops.  It seems related to the power down corrupting the boot files. From the recent reviews at Bestbuy... I've had my laptop for less than 2 months, but recently I got stuck in an auto-repair loop (possibly a virus), so I took my laptop to my university's tech center. Once there they wiped my laptop clean and installed a fresh install of Windows 10. A couple of my drivers got deleted like my mouse and wifi drivers, but they re-installed them there as well. Everything was fine just a little slow, I re-installed all my apps/games back. I never really checked for Windows 10 updates until a couple days ago because I randomly got this error when trying to play my games. It would say something like this: "ERROR: your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets (D3DFMT_A16B16G16R16F)". I have a GTX 1050 ti, so I was really confused. I looked up how to fix it on other forums and even Reddit. Apparently, this happens when your laptop tries using the GPU built into the motherboard instead of the actual graphics card. Many suggested uninstalling the current GPU drivers and re-installing them. So that's exactly what I tried, but now whenever I try to express install the newest driver on Geforce Experience; it says "The Standard NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Please update your driver using...(website)". The website it gives is not even available, so I look up and manually try to download/install the driver myself, but it gives me the same message it did on Geforce Experience. So I finally decide to update Win... Read more

I have dual GTX 780s and will be soon upgrading to quad GTX 780s in a 4 way sli configuration. For a while I was running 2 monitors, but as a look developer, screen space, colors, frame rates, and signal frequency are very important to an almost religious level so I bought 3 new monitors running at 144hz with a true color calibrator and sRGB config.

Problem...... Each 780 only has 2 DVI ports so I am plugging my third monitor into the second card, but that prohibits me from running sli in max performance mode. When I try using HDMI or Display Port cables to connect them all to the first card, I no longer can set the frequency to 144hz. In fact, it caps me at 60hz. I have considered trying to overclock the monitor but I feel its cable related. My HDMI and DP cables are not suited (as far as I am aware) for 4k or high frame rates. After doing some research, some people have said the cable is rather irreverent, but where I looked, that problem was never solved.

I hope someone might be able to help me figure out a way to solve this, could an active display port adapter to DVI-D perhaps fix this? is there an easier way? is it just the cables? I hope someone can help because I really want to free up this second, and soon third and fourth graphics cards so I can continue working without my render engines crashing every 5 seconds.

(side note, my HDMI and DP cables are about 6 years old, could that be part of the problem?)

A:GTX 780, how do I get 144hz out of HDMI or DP?

If I remember correctly, DP and HDMI will not give you 144hz capability, and an adapter wont work either. Others may correct as I'm going off memory.

Your CPU has built in graphics, you could use the DVI-D to run the third monitor @144hz and still run the SLI in max perf mode

I recently purchased an Alienware 17 R2.
It has the 4gb 980m graphics card.
It has the intel 4600 integrated graphics from the i7 cpu.
I have an asus monitor capable of 144hz that I successfully get 144fps when hooked up to my desktop.
I want to hook this thing up to my new Alienware 17 R2. The alienware has an HDMI port and a mini display port. I have a DVI-D (Dual Link) cable attached to my monitor. On the other end (hooked up to my laptop), I have an Apple Mini Display Port to DVI adapter. This adapter looks just like my cable (the full 3x8 grid with a single flat line). Well when I plug this contraption in, I still only get 60hz. I also notice then when I go to:
Display Settings -> Advanced Display Settings -> Display adapter properties, then the "Adapter Type" is set to the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600.  While there, I went to "Monitor" and attempted to change the refresh rate to 144hz, as I've done on my desktop. It's not an option in the dropdown box though.
I'm wondering if somehow it needs to be set to use the Graphics card.
Next, I tried to just hook up an HDMI cable, I had the same results.
Thinking that maybe I could just disable to the Integrated graphics, I went into device manager and disabled the integrated graphics, then restarted my computer. I noticed that it really dumbed down my display. The adapter then said, Basic Display Adapter.
So what's going on here? Do I need to change some setting somewhere?

A:Can't get 144hz using Alienware 17 R2

Did you manage to find a solution for your problem, i have a similar one i own an alienware 17 880m (2014) and used to be able to get 144 hz via mini dp to dp on an acer xb270h external monitor. i did use the nvidia card with the intel disabled fn+f5. now after lots of driver updates the max i can get is 60 hz.. Any help would be appreciated

I'm using windows 10 and a BenQxl2411z monitor. I was trying to change my refresh to 120 from 144 so I could use blur reduction and make my screen brighter, but it won't seem to work. I have tried doing it through display adapter properties in windows, and also in the nvidia control panel. The confirm window shows up after I change it and then the nvidia control panel window flashes and it reverts back to 144 even if I click confirm. I'm not really sure why it doesn't want to change, I don't ever remember having this problem before and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with me having 2 monitors? It probably doesn't but just in case I'm using 2 monitors and the other one is an Asus VG245 set to 75hz.

Hi,The touchpad on my Y530 won't respond to me at all: the pointer won't move, and neither right-click nor left-click work. I've had my laptop for several years and never had this problem until today. I've tried the fn+f8 button but it doesn't switch between enabled/disabled (the icon I see is always the "enabled" icon). Hello I have my y530 coming tomorrow without the  drive installed just the m2. I have my old Lenovo running Windows 10 off a 250GB Samsung Evo SSD. The OS is on the SSD. I want to migrate the SSD to my y530 when it gets here. Is there anything I should know? Should I move the OS off the m2 onto the SSD? Is there a preferred type of format I should use for the SSD? Im not super worried about the data on the SSD so wiping it isn't a problem. I just want to make sure the new system will run at optimum performance with the SSD.  Thanks! Any and all help is much appreciated!

One simple question:
Has anyone succesfully connected the Dell XPS 15 9950 to an external monitor that runs on 2560x1440 @144Hz?
I have asked Dell employees over chat in three different countries, they all say different things.
I would think that one could use the thunderbolt3 enabled usb-c port to do this by running a usb-c to displayport cable to the monitor.
I have searched the internet for a week and didnt find an conclusive answer.
The usb-c to displayport cable exists (Plugable and Startech makes them) and both are capable of driving an external monitor @144hz, but it is unknown if Dell supports this.
I would love to find out your experiences! If you have experience with other resolutions @144hz, or even @120hz, let me know as well!
If it's not possible it's a dealbreaker for me.

Hi guys, so I recently got two VIOTEK monitors, 144hz, 24 inches

(link for reference: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078P2XN9M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

And I got them set up and running, but I needed to change my frequencies from 60 hz to 144 hz.

My GPU only has 1 DP cable port, so I plugged one of the DP cables that came with the monitor in, and used one of my HDMI cables for the other monitor.

The HDMI monitor can run up to 120hz, and does just fine on 120hz. 120hz is fine while I'm waiting for my HDMI -> DP adapter to come in the mail.

The DP connected monitor, however, goes blank after I configure the settings from 60 hz to 144hz, which SHOULD be working. I tried troubleshooting and tested 100hz, then 120hz, then 144hz, but 60hz and below seem to be the only settings that work.

If it helps, both monitors are listed as Generic PnP monitors.

Any suggestions?

Hello, I have a AOC 2460 monitor running 144hz. I have had for quite some time, just not bothered to fix it before now. Hello imaginecats mate would like to know what the motherboard is if you cannot see it labelled on it see this and use PART B: in it there will be a motherboard section click on it. Now the number of the board is usually in quite a clear title see pic
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/-
12v = 11.4 ? 12.6v
5v = 4.74 ? 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 ? 3.465v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s
See this for the rail voltage info
