Regarding the nice note pinned on Thunderbolt. I ran System Update on my P51 and no driver was offered, is there a delay to the roll out? I have had USB-C thunderbolt issues on my E570, can I expect similar updates on E570? It was not in the page but share the same controller? Can we expect any update on P50 as well?

Grettings all, In our enviornment we've been fighting an ongoing battle with monitors flickering on our T480 and T490 computers using Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docks. To try and remediate this we've been installing the updates posted in https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/sk/en/solutions/ht508988. On the T490 models, we've been able to update the laptops without issues as the firmware will run on any computer running Windows 10 1809 or later. For our T480 computers, however, you can only update the firmware on computers running 1809 or older (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/sk/en/solutions/ht508988). We are currently in the process of rolling out Windows 10 1903 to our users so this is a pretty major obstacle in troubleshooting issues with docks. Is an update planned for this firmware package to acomidate newer Windows 10 operating systems and if so is there an estimate with regards to when it will be released?

Our organisation is ready to update Critical Intel Thunderbolt Software and Firmware Updates for Thinkpads with Vantage and Update retriever from local repository.  We downloaded everything releaded TB3 for X and T series. We put them Active from Test-status.  Thinkpads have Vantage versio 4 or 20, mostly 20 (Enterprise versio). Vantage do not show this TB3 fw update for any model we have. UEFI fw is showing like drivers we have Active-status. Why TB3 fw is not showing? How to fix this?

I have a P50 with the Intel 530 video and the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports have stopped working.  Lenovo has replaced the motherboard and they work on the tech's flash Ubuntu OS so it's not the hardware. On 10/24, during the Lenovo or Windows scheduled updates, I see some changes to the video driver.  That's when they stopped working.  I tried roll back but it doesn't work.  I have read previous posts on P50 HDMI issues and have updated the BIOS, Firmware and Thunderbolt software.  I've run all Windows and Lenovo updates.  Of particular importance, Lenvovo keeps trying to push a large "Thinkpad Video Features" update on me but it won't install.  It says it is for Nvidia N16S and Quadro 16P so that makes sense to me, I just don't know why it keeps trying to push it down to me. Anyone experience this issue?  The screen shots show the Lenovo update they are trying to push on me and the updates to the display adapter driver that occurred on 10/24.  Since then it just hasn't worked.

I have an X1 Carbon 6th Gen laptop (Type 20KH). The firmware update mentioned in the following link fails to install:Critical-Intel-Thunderbolt-Software-and-Firmware-Updates/m-p/4519769 When I try to update using Lenovo Vantage, it fails with error code 0x207.When I try to install the firmware package manually, it reports error 0x430000 4390912 and pops a dialog box saying it couldn't find a suitable bin file. Here are the files mentioned in the update notice that I used for the manual attempt. I see updates for the Thunderbolt Controller and driver have been released. I see nothing about any "fixes" in the release notes, only "enhancements". This is a little disconcerting since there have been a number of issues with the Thunderbolt controller. A manufacturer of a new Thunderbolt 3 dock has discovered problems with it. Will this controller or any related BIOS settings be fixed?

Hello Lenovo friends! I've been a huge fan of ThinkPads-- my first was a T400s back in 2009.  And I've definitely found them to be solid, reliable machines.  I purchased a ThinkPad X1E last November and just encountered a new problem today though-- when I use my TB dock and play video, I've been getting BSOD messages.  I've connected the dock to two monitors, one via DP and the other via HDMI.  The Stop code is "DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION." I've read online that to fix this BSOD, you simply download and install the latest TB firmware update.  So I tried doing that today. But when I go to install the firmware update, I'm getting conflicting instructions!  The first dialog box says, "Please do not plug the Type C or Thunderbolt device to your system while updating the Thunderbolt Firmware." The second dialog box instructs, "Please connect at least one Thunderbolt device to your PC..." What is the correct step to do?  I only have one Thunderbolt device and that's my dock.  Should I connect it to my X1E while I'm updating the TB firmware?  Or not?  I've read on other forum posts that other X1E owners have actually bricked their docks when performing TB updates so I'm very concerned about that too.  Can someone please advise?  Thank you! PS.  Here are some of my system details too, btw, in case that helps:My Product #:  20MFCTO1WWMy BIOS version:  N2EET37W 1.1... Will Lenovo release a fix for critical vulnerabilities in Intel Management Engine for my Lenovo Yoga 500-14ISK? I have not found it on the official Lenovo list, but Intel's tool says it's vulnerable. I have Intel ME firmware version 11.0.0.1197 and it's a Skylake version of this Yoga notebook. I was pretty shocked to see this update.  Apparently, intel management engine is a backdoor which allows full control of the machine, even if the power is off. It is something on intel motherboards.  It has been noted that a backdoor can be used by a) legitimate corporate administrators, b) hackers c) gov. organisations. Firstly, why would any user want to install a back door which allows undetectable access to the machine without the users knowlege or inteveition? Secondly, why is this installed by Lenovo as standard, if it is only used by some large organisations? Or am I wrong? I have seen many articales about it saying "Intels management engine is the single most dangerous piece of computer hardward ever created", mainly because it has access to everything and noone knows exactly what it can do. Now I am trying to find a way to remove this major security back door. It seems that noone knows if disabling it in the bios is actaully disabling it, or not. It seems not, as you can still get a response from AMT if you hit: http://127.0.0.1:16992/logon.htm, and if you open the "intel management and security status" application, it says that AMT is enabled. It seems ifyou connect to a public wifi, the machnes AMT is avaible to everyone on the network. I have also seen that there are exploits allowing hackers to gain full access to your machine with trivial exploits such as sending null password. Very very bad. ... You're a little late to the party The legitimate and intended use of the feature is for system administrators to provision and manage corporate machines remotely and conveniently.It's not installed by Lenovo as standard, but rather Intel on any platform certified vPro (your system would have had this sticker from the factory).If you are not in a corporate environment managed by Intel AMT, then it only provides risks and zero benefit. Hello everybody, I know another thread with similar problems here, booting three times ect .... but not with the new specific problem, this one seems to be new to me and I hope for a solution without the technician having to change the Hardware Motherboard. I had the original ME firmware and now an update was made by Lenovo Vantage, but this unfortunately did not work properly and led to the following: 1. at boot the "Strg P" entry has disappeared 2. in the Bios the entry with ME Firmware Version is empty 3. ME is shown as deactivated or not present in Hardware Manager, The result is that you can no longer perform flash if ME is no longer present in the system. 4. When restarting or reactivating, it will take about 35 seconds for the Lenovo logo to be displayed and the system will start up  this is all very frustrating, i hope that there will be a software solution, or maybe someone knows a solution .... Thanks all for support.....

ROCA (CVE-2017-15361) has been out for some time and yet I have not seen, unlike most all other major PC manufacturers, ANYTHING on any MS website concerning a firmware patch for ROCA.


No updates, ETAs, We're working on it, etc.  It seems to me that they hope it just stay quiet.


I did, however, open a ticket with MS Support and was told by the Escalation tech that ROCA and the Intel J-Tag vulnerabilities were considered to be LOW RISK and would be patched eventually, no ETA.  This was after the various front line staff I spoke
with had no idea what I was talking about.


I'm hoping someone on here has heard or read something from Microsoft to help restore some confidence in the brand.  I'm definitely considering a strong suggestion to stay away from MS hardware.

My laptop: X1 Carbon 6th Gen I tried a couple of times to update the Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver (via Lenovo System Update and via the Web Service connecting through Lenovo Service Bridge). In all cases, the update failed.    Even the manual installlation failed!  I also unsuccessfully tried to manually uninstall Thunderbolt Software via the Windows Control Panel in order to install afterwards the new one. What can I do now?

A couple of days ago i updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware to version 9.5 through the Lenovo System Update software. Imediately after restarting I noticed how much slower the computer was. It took some extra time to boot up, and was much, MUCH slower at starting up apps like spotify and firefox, etc. I also noticed a massive slowdown when playing. The task manager shows a normal usage of CPU, RAM and GPU, I'm usually at no more than 40% and I can still notice the slow down at all times. Is there a way to roll this update back? Do I have to wait until another not-messed up update? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I am not a native speaker so that the description below may not be clear. Last night when my laptop attempt to upgrade its Intel ME firmware, the system appears a blue screen with words "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed". After that, the procedure of boot of my laptop became "auto power off twice after press the power button, then it will boot into BIOS itself". In other words, it likes: t0: Power button pressedt1: Screen was turned on for about 1 sec, then the whole laptop powered off.t2: happen the process of t1 againt3: boot into BIOS I guess the Intel ME firmware was broken. I tried to googled for related information but found nothing. I swear I will not upgrade my BIOS or Intel ME firmware anymore... Then I downloaded the Lenovo Recovery Image and used it to reset my computer into the factory status, but the issue still exists. I think it is because the Intel ME is a independent chip to the OS, so even recovery cannot help. Thanks for your kind help.

Because I didn't liked USB 3.0 ethernet chipsets and USB-based ethernet cannot bear some network-intensive tasks, I wanted to use PCIe-based Thunderbolt ethernet controller on my XPS 15 9550. As there is no Thunderbolt 3 "PCIe" ethernet adapter (except docks), I chose to buy Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and Thunderbolt 2-based ethernet adapter.
I plugged it into the XPS 15 9550 (tested with BIOS 1.1.19, 1.2.14, 1.2.16 and latest Thunderbolt firmware with NVM version 16), and the PCIe device did not pop up. Instead, only USB billboard device is appearing saying that "Alternate Mode configuration not attempted". Both Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.10 failed to detect the device. I moved this configuration to MSI GS63 laptop, and it detected ethernet controller successfully (that laptop utilizing NVM firmware version 18).
It seems that other vendors are affected with lower NVM firmware version involving setup with Thunderbolt adapter: see the case of Lenovo too. Do you have planned Thunderbolt NVM firmware update for XPS 15 9550? Looks like XPS 13 9360 is using newer Thunderbolt NVM firmware version, though.

Hello,the thunderbolt on my X380 Yoga completely stopped working. As I try to connect a P27h for instance, the laptop charges but does not recognize the monitor or USB Hub.I installed every update available on system update and tried to update the Thunderbolt Software and Firmware. The software installed fine but upon updating the firmware the following promt appears:    When I check the version inside the Thunderbold software, this is what shows up:    I am running Windows 10 Home 1803. Any idea why this is not working? Is my thunderbolt controller not working properly?Thanks

There is an issue with the update for the tunderbolt firmware when updating through the system update utility. This is a known issue that the Engineering department has been working on. The only known resolution to this issue so far has been to replace the system board. Im sorry for the inconvenience this is causing. If the device is still under warranty i would speak with the support center to have a tech install a new board.
